UPDATE: Turning Point USA Admits The Candace Owens Text Messages Are REAL!

Last night I brought you this report: Candace Owens Posts Screenshots Showing Charlie Kirk Was “Leaving Israel” When I published it, I said I cannot confirm whether the messages are authentic but for now I am going to take Candace at her word. Turns out that was a smart move because today Candace was 100% vindicated as telling the truth: the messages are real. After 3 weeks of saying Candace Owens was lying about Charlie Kirk planning to pull back his support for Israel, Turning Point USA and its lead Executive Producer finally went live this morning and admitted Candace's reporting was accurate and the screenshot of text/Telegram messages that she showed yesterday is authentic. Wtach TPUSA Executive Producer Andrew Kolvett admit live on the air today that the messages are real: Boy oh boy, there's a lot in there that jumps out at me... First of all, he doesn't seem to have a cohesive message.  He seems to contradict himself a lot.  He's happy the messages are out and claims he is actually the one who took the screenshot?  But he spent the last 3 weeks saying Candace Owens was a liar?  That doesn't jive. Second, his demeanor and body language seem really off. Third, he says it's inappropriate to talk about this stuff because they haven't even had time to grieve fully?  But yet you have plenty of time to put on multiple-hours-long shows each day? Forth, he says it's inappropriate for us to talk about this because it could taint a jury pool?  What?  How? All of this reminds me of when people start digging into a mass shooting event and pointing out inconsistencies or digging into the Epstein Files to ask questions and then they get told to "shut up, you're being disrespectful to the victims!" No their not, they're doing the most respectful thing possible, trying to find out the truth about what happened to them! I have found in life whenever someone tells you you're not allowed to talk about something that's almost always exactly where the truth can be found. Anyway, here was my original report in case you missed it: Candace Owens Posts Screenshots Showing Charlie Kirk Was "Leaving Israel" DISCLAIMER: This article is not pro-Israel or anti-Israel.  I am not taking a position.  I am simply reporting the news.  Fair enough? Ever since Charlie Kirk was shot and killed, Candace Owens has been claiming essentially that "Israel did it" and the reason why is because Charlie Kirk was getting ready to leave his pro-Israel stance. Big claims. Once again, I have no idea if any of that is true and I'm not typically the person to claim that everything bad that happens in the world is because "Israel did it". My position is quite simple... I bless and support Biblical Israel because #1 the Bible tells us we should, and #2 it's quite clear that God is using Israel to carry out his master plan of Salvation.  They have played and will continue to play an important role. That all said, Israel is not perfect and even in Bible times God would get frustrated with the leaders of Israel and the Bible is quite clear that it teaches God sent Israel into exile many times to discipline them for what they were doing. So to suggest that we have to blindly put Israel up on some pedestal is not even Biblical. I also have long thought that if God makes very clear that Israel will play an important part in God's plan for the world, especially in End Times, then if I were the Devil I would think my #1 play would simply be to infiltrate Israel and give it a bad name throughout the world. Setting all of that aside, now let's go to Candace Owens who today brought the receipts! I don't quite know what to make of Candace... I have been saying for the past few months that Candace will either go down in history as one of the greatest independent journalists we've ever had ...... or she's flat out cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs!  And I still honestly don't know which it is right now. But for purposes of this story, I am going to take her at her word and take her screenshots at their word and presume they are all legitimate and authentic. Watch this clip from her show today where she lays it all out and shows the screenshots to back it up: Here is the screenshot of the messages in question: So there you go folks! If that's real, then it appears Charlie was indeed feeling harassed and blackmailed by his Jewish donors and ready to leave the cause. What to make of it all? I actually think my friend MJTruth posted some thoughts that are nearly identical to mine, so I'll show you what he just posted because I think it's spot on: UPDATE: Charlie Kirk — Holee SHYT This is bad… really really bad Candace Owens released internal Group Messages with Charlie Kirk and nine others, 2 Days before he was Assassinated, stating that he was “done with the Israeli Cause” because he was being bullied by Israeli… pic.twitter.com/XrTCbsIdfh — MJTruthUltra (@MJTruthUltra) October 6, 2025 UPDATE: Charlie Kirk — Holee SHYT This is bad… really really bad Candace Owens released internal Group Messages with Charlie Kirk and nine others, 2 Days before he was Assassinated, stating that he was “done with the Israeli Cause” because he was being bullied by Israeli Donors - He said this because he lost $2M dollars from a Jewish donor, which we already knew was… - The group had a total of 9 people, and she named only 3 people in that chat for now. 1. Charlie Josh 2. Josh Hammer 3. Rob McCoy My Thoughts: This is really bad… if true, it SCREAMS of motive, but first, there’s a few things we should understand. This message, judging by its format, was written on a private Telegram chat 100%. I’ve seen many times when scammers have spelled out my name pretending to be me, and you’d never be able to tell it wasn’t me without seeing the actual HANDLE of that account. Not saying these messages aren’t authentic, but it would prove they are 100% authentic by providing the handle of Charlie’s account. So for now, I’m taking Candace’s word for it… which means, someone in that group chat released those internal messages to her.. Also, @TPUSA has a lot of explaining to do.. and can, right now, say these messages are either authentic or not. This is 100% motive. If the screenshots are fake, TPUSA needs to say so immediately. The longer it goes without them addressing it, the more likely they are to be real. Love to get your thoughts on this!

Pam Bondi to Adam Schiff: “If You Worked for Me, You Would’ve Been FIRED!”

Pam Bondi to Adam Schiff: “If You Worked for Me, You Would’ve Been FIRED!”

AG Pam Bondi was on fire during today’s Senate Judiciary Committee hearing. She went after multiple Democrat senators as they tried to grill her on things like deploying the National Guard and Comey’s indictment. At one point, Sen. Adam Schiff accused Bondi of allowing the DOJ to become “President Trump’s personal sword and shield to go after his ever growing list of political enemies.” Yes, that came from Shifty Schiff — who himself is currently being investigated for mortgage fraud! In response, Pam Bondi absolutely let him have it… Watch here: HOLY CRAP! AG Pam Bondi just WENT OFF on Adam Schiff. “You know, Schiff, if you worked for me, you would’ve been FIRED, because you were censured by Congress for LYING!” “You’ve been attacking my FBI Director, my office, the border czar…’oversight?’ You want your 5 MINUTES… pic.twitter.com/7J5KzSrOIg — Eric Daugherty (@EricLDaugh) October 7, 2025 HOLY CRAP! AG Pam Bondi just WENT OFF on Adam Schiff. “You know, Schiff, if you worked for me, you would’ve been FIRED, because you were censured by Congress for LYING!” “You’ve been attacking my FBI Director, my office, the border czar…’oversight?’ You want your 5 MINUTES OF FAME, attacking GOOD people!” In another tense exchange, Pam Bondi called for Adam Schiff to apologize to President Trump and called him a “failed lawyer.” Watch: Adam Schiff: “This is supposed to be an oversight hearing where members of Congress can get serious answers about the coverup of corruption, about the prosecution of the president’s enemies.” AG Bondi: “I think you owe the president an apology. Clearly, you’re a failed lawyer.” pic.twitter.com/0bG5rgraOu — TheBlaze (@theblaze) October 7, 2025 Adam Schiff is the last person who should be complaining about the so-called ‘weaponization’ of justice… Democrats need to learn how to look in a mirror. Politico provided some more background context to the heated exchange between Bondi and Schiff: Just weeks weeks after Sen. Adam Schiff was called a “buffoon” and a “fraud” by FBI Director Kash Patel during a Senate Judiciary Committee Hearing, the California Democrat was similarly pilloried Tuesday by Attorney General Pam Bondi. A heated exchange between the California Democrat and the nation’s top prosecutor encapsulates the seething tensions between the lawmaker and the Trump administration years after Schiff, as a member of the House, managed Trump’s first impeachment trial. The DOJ is now actively investigating Schiff for mortgage fraud — allegations Schiff has vehemently denied. “As a former federal prosecutor myself, I served in a [Justice] Department that — whether it was under a Democratic or Republican President — would never use the office to go after the president’s enemies or to hide the corruption of his friends,” Schiff said during the Senate Judiciary hearing where Bondi was testifying Tuesday. “The Department has become President Trump’s personal sword and shield to go after his ever growing list of political enemies and to protect himself, his allies, and associates.” “If you worked for me, you would’ve been fired because you were censured by Congress for lying,” Bondi told him. And, in response to Schiff’s questions about whether the Justice Department dropped a bribery investigation into border czar Tom Homan following Trump’s 2025 inauguration, Bondi asked Schiff, “will you apologize to Donald Trump for trying to impeach him?” Her broadsides against Schiff were notable given the senator is the current subject of a DOJ investigation, but Bondi had barbs for multiple Judiciary Committee Democrats over the course of Tuesday’s nearly five hour-long oversight hearing. AG Bondi was on a roll during today’s Senate hearing. This about sums it up: Pam Bondi didn’t come to answer questions she came to end careers — Kings (@Staunch41) October 7, 2025 In addition to Schiff, she also put Democrat Sen. Dick Durbin in his place. More on that here:   Pam Bondi DESTROYS Democrat Sen. Dick Durbin — “I Wish You Loved Chicago as Much as You Hate President Trump!” Pam Bondi needs to bring that same fire we saw today to her investigations! Let's hope @AGPamBondi has this same passion when it comes to holding all the traitors from the previous administration accountable since so far despite a mountain of evidence she hasn't. — Greg Mitchell (@gregnmitchell) October 7, 2025 Your thoughts?

BREAKING: FBI Foils $10K CAPTURE or K*LL Plot Targeting Senior Trump Official in Chicago

The FBI has broken up a plot to take out a senior ICE Official — allegedly orchestrated by a gang leader in Chicago. Juan Espinoza Martinez is a suspected Latin Kings leader operating out of the Windy City, and is now in federal custody. He has been ARRESTED and is being charged with putting a bounty on the head of the Operational Ground Commander of “Operation Midway Blitz”, which is currently rolling up illegals in Chicago. Here’s the photo put out by DHS showing Martinez’s arrest: The bounty is being explained as an either/or hit by DHS — meaning the plot called for taking the Operational Commander either dead, or alive. Just two weeks ago Cmdr. Gregory Bovino appeared on Fox News pushing back hard against Illinois Gov. Pritzker’s criticism of President Trump’s plan to clean up Chicago. No wonder the leadership of the Latin Kings wanted him dead! The ICE Commander shared this clip, highlighting his strong stance in alignment with President Trump’s anti-crime and immigration agenda: While some choose to prioritize illegal aliens over citizens, we believe the rule of law and our citizens should be first. #DHS #CBP #BorderPatrol #ICE #Chicago #OpMidwayBlitz pic.twitter.com/yF470H4pky — Commander Op At Large CA Gregory K. Bovino (@CMDROpAtLargeCA) September 23, 2025 The plot to capture or kill Cmdr. Bovino was allegedly the brainchild of Martinez, who didn’t just target the ICE leader based on his position. The bounty came as a direct response to last Saturday’s violent interaction in a Chicago neighborhood when multiple vehicles SWARMED a patrol of federal agents, according to DHS. That ambush led to one armed attacker wounded when the agents opened fire on her during the altercation, which we covered here: BREAKING: Fed Agents Trapped in 10-Vehicle AMBUSH in Chicago, Forced to OPEN FIRE DHS says they have evidence it was that incident that led to Martinez putting out the capture or kill bounty on Cmdr. Bovino. Martinez also allegedly ordered gang members under his command to 'patrol' the area where that incident took place, looking for a fight with federal agents -- as reported by Fox News: Federal agents in Chicago on Monday arrested a suspected Latin Kings leader accused of offering cash bounties to capture and kill a senior immigration officer working with "Operation Midway Blitz." Martinez was taken into custody Monday morning, though his initial court appearance has not yet been scheduled. U.S. Attorney Andrew S. Boutros called the alleged plot "an attack on the rule of law." According to the complaint, Martinez is a ranking member of the Latin Kings, a gang notorious for violent crimes and drug trafficking across Chicago. The complaint says a confidential source told investigators that after a police-involved shooting on Oct. 4, 2025, involving Border Patrol agents in Chicago’s Brighton Park neighborhood, Martinez sent Latin Kings members to 39th and Kedzie in response. The source said Martinez ordered members to obtain firearms and patrol the area around 26th Street and South Drake Avenue to defend Latin Kings territory. As the plot was brewing yesterday and the FBI was actively working to capture those responsible, Tricia McLaughlin with DHS spoke to the issue on Fox Business News. But in the segment which aired yesterday, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem was featured before McLaughlin's comments. According to Noem, this is not a single isolated incident. Notice in this clip that she highlighted there is a PLURALITY of Federal Agents currently being targeted with bounties on their heads: “When you demonize our law enforcement, there are real life consequences.” – Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin on cartels putting bounties on specific immigration officers. pic.twitter.com/iqkSskHRYw — Varney & Co. (@Varneyco) October 6, 2025 Fox News also posted this screenshot allegedly showing Martinez' avatar on the Snap Chat platform. This is the account he purportedly used to put out the call to capture or assassinate Cmdr. Bovino: “10k if you take him down.” Prosecutors say suspected Latin Kings leader Juan Espinoza Martinez offered cash bounties over Snapchat to kill a senior Border Patrol officer involved in “Operation Midway Blitz.” pic.twitter.com/ffSU8GMxwC — Fox News (@FoxNews) October 7, 2025 In the clip Bovino shared from his appearance on Fox News, he emphasized the danger that officers face every day on Chicago streets. Knowing that danger, Bovino's attitude towards the mission even yesterday as the plot against him unfolded was seemingly unfazed. Check out this video he shared to his X account on Monday, hyping up the dangerous mission taking place on the streets of Chicago under his leadership: From dawn to dusk, and through the night, we carry out our duty: enforcing the law and protecting the people we serve. Serving warrants for those illegal aliens that have crimes under their belt. The green machine will not stop until the mission is accomplished. #CBP #DHS… pic.twitter.com/JNXqrwsoEO — Commander Op At Large CA Gregory K. Bovino (@CMDROpAtLargeCA) October 6, 2025 That's certainly not a man who is easily deterred from his sworn duty. The man just had a CAPTURE / KILL bounty put on his head by a notoriously violent gang, and what's his response? An absolutely bangin' hype video. Could it be that the illegal criminal element in Chicago underestimated who they were picking a fight with? As noted, Martinez allegedly used Snap Chat to communicate the murder-for-hire plot to those under his command. In those messages he purportedly offered $2,000 for capturing the ICE Commander. And a larger $10K bounty for killing him, according to this report from the New York Post: A Latin Kings gangbanger allegedly put a bounty hit out on Border Patrol chief Gregory Bovino – firing off a Snapchat message that read, “10k if u take him down.” Juan Espinoza Martinez, a 37-year-old Mexican living in the US illegally, was nabbed Monday in Burr Ridge, a Chicago suburb, after the feds were tipped off to the alleged murder-for-hire plot, authorities said. In the Snapchat conversation, the ranking street gang member included a photo of Bovino and placed a $2,000 bounty for his capture, according to a criminal complaint. The message, which was written in Spanish, read “cuando lo agarren,” which translates to “when they catch him.” In a follow message, he allegedly offered “10k if you take him down.” Authorities became aware of the alleged hit after a source sent them a screenshot of the messages last week, court papers charge. Homeland Security said Martinez is from Mexico and entered the US illegally at an unknown date and time. He was arrested for soliciting the murder of a senior law enforcement official, the feds said. Bovino has been spearheading “Operation Midway Blitz” that has seen federal troops descend on Chicago in recent weeks as part of a crackdown on illegal immigrants. Thankfully someone -- we don't know whether it came from a source that may have infiltrated the Latin Kings -- alerted authorities to the plot against Bovino. But the arrest of Martinez doesn't necessarily end the threat from the bounty; that danger will persist as long as there is an illegal gang-related criminal element intent on carrying it out. While researching this story, I spotted the following video shared last Friday -- just one day before the ambush and shooting that prompted the plot to kill Bovino. Check out this clip shared by a noted account covering border and immigration issues. That's Cmdr. Bovino, right in the middle of the melee with masked-up demonstrators, leading his men from the front: Federal authorities are now picking off violent Antifas as mob outside ICE Broadview facility grows increasingly confrontational Watch @CMDROpAtLargeCA going toe to toe with screaming militants Follow Border Hawk and @Wid_Lyman for updates from Chicago all weekend pic.twitter.com/6KxD6hnyhJ — Border Hawk (@BorderHawkNews) October 3, 2025 As that NYP article confirmed, Martinez has been charged with soliciting the murder of a law enforcement officer. Cmdr. Bovino addressed the threat to his own life last night following Martinez' arrest. Though he expects more of these incidents, he also said he expects a surprising change to happen -- more cooperation from Chicago Police going forward. Check out this clip with his comments last night on Fox News, shared by Homeland Security on X: Depraved individuals – who do not value human life and threaten law enforcement – do NOT belong in this country. Thanks to ICE and our federal law enforcement partners, Juan Espinoza Martinez, a member of the Latin Kings street gang who placed a bounty on U.S. Border Patrol… pic.twitter.com/CgKJbs76go — Homeland Security (@DHSgov) October 7, 2025 Here's the full screen version of that clip for convenience: Depraved individuals – who do not value human life and threaten law enforcement – do NOT belong in this country. Thanks to ICE and our federal law enforcement partners, Juan Espinoza Martinez, a member of the Latin Kings street gang who placed a bounty on U.S. Border Patrol… pic.twitter.com/CgKJbs76go — Homeland Security (@DHSgov) October 7, 2025 As Bovino said in that clip -- what happens between the time these criminal elements actually capture a federal agent, and ultimately kill them? That's the stuff of nightmares. That's the sort of thing that I've seen firsthand in places like Kosovo, Albania, and parts of Africa. But it's ALSO the sort of thing that happens all the time -- every day -- beyond our southern border in places like Mexico, Venezuela, and others. The influx of illegals welcomed into the United States over the last few years under the Biden Administration brings with it exactly that degree of chaos and evil. What more evidence must anyone require in order to know the righteous need to RID this country of those who broke the law to begin with to enter the country under the complicit eye of failed Democrat leadership? If bounties on the leadership of federal law enforcement becoming NORMAL isn't enough... then "enough" doesn't exist. It's time to finish the mission, and fix what the Biden Administration intentionally broke.

Robin Trower | October 2, 2025 | Grove of Anaheim | Anaheim, CA – Concert Review

Review & Photos by Jordan West Seeing a legend perform in the “twilight” of their career can sometimes make you feel really old. Summer and fall always bring out the oldies acts in droves, intent on getting that last gasp of cash before settling down. A lot of acts, who made their mark during the “golden age of classic rock” in the 1970s and 80s are very disappointing for their fans to see. Fans who go to a show to relive the songs of their youth and come home wishing they had stayed home is becoming an unfortunate and all too familiar thing. Guitarist Robin Trower is now 80 years old. His long career, which started in the 1960s with Procol Harum and continues as a very popular, successful solo act since, with new music and concert appearances. As is the case with many concert goers, they come to hear the hits and try and pretend that they are young again and could care less about what new music the artist is touring to promote. I am happy to say that I am not one of them. New music keeps the blood flowing, and for this night, Robin Trower and his trio supplied enough fuel to satisfy his fans with both new and vintage musical treats. After a very enjoyable 30-minute set from opening duo Katy Guillen & the Drive, Robin Trower and his band — bassist and vocalist Richard Watts and drummer Chris Taggart — took to the stage at The Grove of Anaheim to huge applause. In an age where flashing lights, taped background vocals, and pre-recorded samples have become the norm at many shows, tonight was pleasantly and completely void of that. Just three guys with a guitarist who uses his finely crafted and signature guitar tone to entertain. Opening with “The Razors Edge” one of four songs performed that evening from his 2022 No More Worlds To Conquer release, Trower and his band were immediately in synch. The bluesy groove that the band laid down during this number set the tone for things to come. Trower, backed by two Marshall cabinets and using his wah-wah pedal exclusively to achieve his signature sound, stood stage right, and eyes closed, set about transfixing the seated audience for a 14-song set of guitar magic. “Too Rolling Stoned” from his classic 1974 release Bridge of Sighs got the crowd jump-started, and I noticed, as is the case at all shows these days, the audience immediately took out their phones to try and capture it on video. Surprisingly, security emerged and immediately did their best to quell that situation, and all eyes became focused on the band, and it became a very enjoyable evening for all. Maybe this will become standard practice at shows, but we’ll see. Trower, manning a red Fender Stratocaster, led the band into the lovely “Wither on the Vine” again from “No More Worlds to Conquer” and it was during this song that I became very appreciative of Watt’s range. As wonderful as James Dewar and his soulful vocals were on so many classic Robin Trower songs were, Watts voice has a gritty tinge that fits right in, adding depth to songs both new and old. A great take on “Somebody Calling,” the funky song from 1980’s In City Dreams record, kept me somewhere between appreciation of where the song took me back to, and where it is now with a new sound, was a great example. As wonderful and classic as that song is, with Trower’s signature guitar sound, Watt’s throaty, and sometimes scratchy voice gave the song a new lift, in my opinion. Granted, as I will always appreciate the late Dewar and his soulful tones, I really enjoyed Watt’s take on the classics all evening. Watts did a great job singing “Distant Places of the Heart,” a song from Trower’s collaboration with the late Jack Bruce. This is not an easy thing to do. But Watt’s range really nailed it, and his bass playing, along with Taggart’s supreme time-keeping kept this writer’s attention, as Trower, and his dreamy tones, were in full effect, and kept things sonically enjoyable. Robin Trower addressed the crowd at songs end and thanked them for their applause. “We’d like to do something off the new album, we hope you like it,” he announced. “One Go Round” was the only song performed from 2025’s Come And Find Me release. It is a “swampy” slow groove that when you close your eyes, will transfix you to another place. The lyrical meaning is pretty obvious. “You only get one go round, so try and make the most of it,” Trower explained recently. Great song and a nice representation on where the artist is today. An interesting choice of songs, “It’s Too Late” another Jack Bruce song from his 1981 B.L.T. collaboration with Trower and drummer Bill Lordan followed, and it’s waltzing groove was very pleasing to hear. Taggart gave the song some “swing” and he really, as we drummers like to say, was “in the pocket” all evening. The classics “Day of The Eagle” and “Bridge of Sighs” pumped up the crowd as Robin Trower, always looking down at his guitar and closing his eyes when he isn’t, played those songs like he has for so many years, with a very unique tone and stayed true to the original arrangements. “No More Worlds to Conquer” followed, and then the band launched into “Daydream” another classic Trower song from his 1973 Twice Removed From Yesterday LP, that, to paraphrase a word from the song, had the audience “spellbound” with Trowers signature sound emulating the original, and Watts husky vocal took the song to new levels of the greatness of this number. The rowdy, “Little Bit of Sympathy” kept the crowd moving in their seats as well as enticed a few of the aging attendees to rise and get their “ya-ya’s” out, concluded the set. After thanking the crowd and leaving the stage, the band quickly re-assembled onstage and cranked up the very Cream/Electric Flag-like “Rise Up Like the Sun” from Trower’s 1994 20th Century Blues album. This one had the band really letting loose, with Taggart’s pounding beats leading the charge. The band then brought the pace back down and finished the show with yet another number from No More Worlds To Conquer, the lovely ballad “Birdsong” in which Watts vocal take shined. This song would have fit right in with any of Trowers mid-70s classic run of popular releases, and, as with many of his songs, brings a bit of familiarity in its structure. Trower’s wonderful guitar playing ability and tone, I am proud to say, is still intact at the ripe old age of 80. Oddly, the show had been billed as “Celebrating 50 years of the For Earth Below” release, but nothing from that classic was performed. Oh well, Robin Trower is only an Octogenarian; he will be back to cover that part of his career another time in the future. Bravo to Robin Trower and his band on a very enjoyable evening in Anaheim.

The Struts & Dirty Honey | October 3, 2025 | The Wiltern | Los Angeles, CA – Concert Review & Photo Gallery

Review by Jordan West Photos by Joe Schaeffer Celebrating the 10th anniversary of their first LP, Everybody Wants, British rockers The Struts brought their high energy show to Los Angeles, along with home-town fellow rock and rollers Dirty Honey, for a rip-roaring, riff-filled, rock and roll extravaganza at The Wiltern, to a packed house of enthusiastic fans, who partied and shouted all night long and really seemed to be having the time of their lives. What a party it was! The evening started as Los Angeles rockers Dirty Honey shot right out of the gates with bang. Drummer Jadon Bean seemed to be playing double-time with his locomotive beats on the opening song “Gypsy” when singer Marc LaBelle appeared from the wings and welcomed the crowd. As he leaned back to scream a verse, I noticed that he inadvertently dropped his vocal mic. I’m not a technical expert, but this may have provided the reason for an obvious sound issue that plagued their set. Nonetheless, the band went on as if it was business as usual, with their always enjoyable quality rock show. “It’s good to be home. We are Dirty Honey from Los Angeles,” LaBelle enthusiastically announced as they rocked their riff–heavy songs like the terrific “California Dreaming” and “Heartbreaker,” which was dedicated to “All the beautiful California women,” which elicited plenty of healthy female screams amongst the crowd. Dirty Honey offered up a new song, “Too Good At Being Bad,” which had a serious vintage Aerosmith Rocks period feel to it with its syncopated sound. It’s no secret that Dirty Honey are all huge Aerosmith fans and have covered their songs in the past. On this one, guitarist John Notto knows a good riff when he “borrows” one, that’s for sure. At any rate, it was great to hear the band play some new music. As a big fan of theirs, I look forward to more. Notto is truly one of the great “riff-masters” on the rock scene today. I use the term “riff” a lot when I talk about this band, as it is a huge part of Dirty Honey’s sound. The combination of just the right one, combined with La Belle’s powerful pipes is what is initially recognizable about this band. Their live, enjoyable show is very popular, no matter who they are touring with. And they’ve been at it for a while, all over the world, nonstop. Notto’s Hendrix-like intro to the soulful ballad “Another Last Time” slowed down the pace, if only temporarily, as LaBelle’s soaring vocals brought the song to new heights. It seemed as if, by now, the sound techs had done their job at fixing the volume issue, and the band sounded fantastic and were on a roll. Drummer Jadon Bean also sang harmony on the chorus, and you could hear him loud and clearly on top of the mix. Bassist Justin Smolian’s solid bass lines laid down the foundation for “The Wire” as well as the funky “Don’t Put Out The Fire.” By now, the band members had ditched their shades and were getting sweaty and yes, funky. LaBelle’s voice seemed to get better as the show went on. He even grabbed a folding chair and hopped into the crowd to sing the song’s chorus, standing above them on the chair, to entice the surrounding crowd to help him out, which they did, enthusiastically. Next it was John Notto’s time to shine in the spotlight. His Les Paul screamed and wailed. Leading into the song that made the band famous, the 2019 self-released “When I’m Gone.” This song still holds the distinction as being the only song by an unsigned band to hit #1 on the rock radio charts. Tonight, it kept their fans extremely happy, as they danced and sang the words like it was STILL the #1 song. After another Aerosmith-like number, “Don’t Take Me Alive,” Dirty Honey concluded their outstanding set with their second single, the bluesy “Rolling 7’s” in which Labelle again went offstage into the orchestra pit to sing to the band’s adoring fans. Dirty Honey has headlined many shows, and this tour is special, because there really are not many bands that can follow them onstage admirably. Tonight, as well as every night on this tour, that band is The Struts. As an air-raid siren wailed, white, flashing lights surrounded the stage, as a cowbell beat counted in, the Struts exploded onstage, opening with “Primadonna Like Me” from their 2018 Young And Dangerous release. This number raised the energy in the room and changed the atmosphere from the “down and dirty” rock n roll of Dirty Honey, to the extremely high-energy, hand-waving, jumping up and down excitement of this British act, who bring such a joy to their fans whenever and wherever they appear in concert. Leading the charge is front-man Luke Spiller, who has been compared to a modern-day combination of Freddie Mercury and Mick Jagger. The singer is in constant motion throughout the set, jumping, clapping and enticing his audience and yes, strutting – all about the stage, eliciting a frenzied vibe that stays that way all show. It’s a fabulous site to see and experience. That is one reason why the Struts are so popular amongst their faithful fans. Continuing with the campy “Body Talks” also from 2018, Spillar worked HIS body like a Vegas showgirl-punctuating guitarist Adam Slack’s crunchy power chords, and drummer Gethin Davies cymbal chokes with rhythmic hand motions and choreographed body moves that are straight out of the Toni Basil / Bob Fosse playbook. Naturally, their fans ate it up, and I noticed many in the sold-out crowd doing their best to duplicate, although with a lot less room to move around then Spiller was fortunate enough to have. “Ladies and gentlemen, this is the 10-year anniversary of our album Everybody Wants!” Spiller said. “How about we do it from start to finish?” And they did just that, all the songs from that ground-breaking record were performed, although in the live setting it was so much more enjoyable. “Roll Up” on record, has a very processed sound, but performed onstage it breaks out of its studio barrier to come across as so much   more, a tribute to the skills that the Struts have achieved from years of touring. “I got a feeling that tonight is gonna be the best night of the tour” the singer teased to the adoring crowd, who naturally screamed and raised their hands. After “Put Your Money On Me,” in which Spiller pretended to “make it rain” to an imaginary exotic dancer, the band led the crowd in the singing of “Happy Birthday” to their stage tech Shane, who brought Spiller an acoustic guitar. During the power ballad “Mary Go Round,” he instructed the crowd to wave their cell phones during the chorus as he strummed the guitar, and the band joined in. Extremely fun, sing-along numbers such as “Dirty Sexy Money” and “The Ol’ Switcheroo” bring the campy, British glam of 1970s bands like Slade to mind. It’s cool watching a new generation of fans enjoy themselves in this kind of atmosphere, and The Struts are at the top of the game in this department. “I’m having so much fun!” Spiller exclaimed. He was not alone. He made his way to a piano that was perched center-stage and after a few warm-up chords, led the band into the very Queen-like “Young Stars,” a very semi-autobiographical number that showed off his very powerful vocal abilities. This guy can do it all onstage. The spotlight shined on guitarist Adam Slack. His guitar solo, which followed, displayed a variety of styles from his Sunburst Gibson Les Paul. It was nothing too flashy, just some heavy noodling. “Black Swan” led into Spiller explaining that there actually were two versions of the Everybody Wants release. His tales of making their mark in France as well as opening for the Rolling Stones gave the band a buzz that brought them to the USA, where the record was re-recorded. This story preceded a rollicking, drum-heavy romp through “These Times Are Changing” that had the crowd singing along to every word.  Spiller was in full “cheerleader mode” shaking his hips, egging the crowd on and during the song’s breakdown, spoke to the audience as if they were one-on-one with him. Brilliantly, the band, all the while, slowly built the pace back up to a frantic pace. It was wonderful to witness the excitement and love that the band and audience displayed mutually. Spiller then headed back to the piano and led the band into the lovely, “Only Just A Call Away” a song that builds and builds to a crescendo, bassist Jed Elliott and guitarist Slack adding to the anthem-like chorus. Before ending their set, Spiller thanked Dirty Honey as well as their crew, and sound and light persons and as drummer Gethin Davies pounded out a beat, he thanked the crowd and as the band jumped up and down, ended their set with the sing-along “Where Did She Go” that had their fans waving their arms and singing the “Woah-O- Oh” part in unison. As the band stood at the front of the stage, and their fans cheered them, it struck me that THIS is exactly what we need more of. Two bands from different continents, with two different styles of performance and music, can connect with an audience and make them have the time of their lives in the few hours that they were together. These are two of the best young bands on the current rock circuit bringing this kind of excitement and quality songs and performance to a new generation of rock fans, who are generally new to the game as well. Both bands have only a few records released at this point but are on the road constantly. To hell with what jaded naysayers who bitch about rock music and its fans. With bands like The Struts and Dirty Honey on the scene, selling out shows everywhere they appear, the future of rock looks pretty good to me.
