A Prayer for Fulfillment When Your Days Feel Dull and DrearyBy Keri Eichberger “When Jesus spoke again to the people‚ he said‚ ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness‚ but will have the light of life.’" (John 8:12) The clouds didn't break for five straight days. Not so much as a sliver of sunshine graced the surface of my face. And the swelling shadows began to penetrate my soul. The light of life I longed for felt smothered. I had just returned from a warm‚ abundantly illuminated‚ joy-filled‚ memory-packed destination‚ so the stark contrast seemed exceptionally harsh. That is‚ in comparison to the dullness of scenery that greeted my husband and I as our plane descended below the dense clouds and hit the runway back in Gloomsville‚ USA. I'm not sure what it looks like out your window right now or if the neutral colors of a cold‚ dim winter even darken your soul and spirit like they tend to with mine. But‚ we most certainly all walk through and weather seasons where the life surrounding us feels less than bright‚ our purpose tank is falling toward empty‚ or our contentment with the same ole‚ same ole is next to non-existent. Darkness circling around us. We all long for fulfillment. We crave purpose‚ significance‚ and rich lasting smiles of the soul. But sadly‚ our human nature keeps us grasping for fullness in the wobbly ways of the world. We think if the literal sun would just come out and shine‚ or our situation was brightened with favor‚ or we could just go back to that responsibility-free vacation spot‚ or even speed forward through the hard in front of us to the ease that potentially awaits. If only... possibly when... maybe then... We might finally find the fullness we feel desperate for. But the problem is‚ all our reaching for items and idols‚ seeking uncertain solutions‚ and putting faith in fleeting pleasures fails to fulfill. Again and again. And always. You know this‚ don't you? You've likely learned it the hard way. But we also know this... Father God. Our Lord and Savior. Our constant companion and friend‚ Jesus. He is absolutely the only true source of light. But oh‚ how often I forget. Romans 13:14 says‚ "Rather clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ‚ and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh." This verse found its way into my quiet time the day the sun finally reappeared‚ and refreshing encouragement was cast over my circumstances. And I stood convicted. In a valley of disappointment‚ the darkened days I felt stuck in‚ I had begun obsessively planning fun nights out‚ carefree days away‚ updates to my house‚ fun food and drink purchases‚ tweaking my body and scale to perfection‚ and designing that dream pool for my boring backyard. Obsessing over desires of the flesh instead of obsessing over Jesus. We know that Jesus is the way‚ the truth‚ and the life (John 14:6) and that he is the light of life (John 8:12). How beautiful are these truths? These are truths I want to hold onto hard today. These are truths I pray you will hold on to with me that he is indeed an abundant light. The only light that will never dim. The only light that is always available to us. The light that offers complete fullness for today and every one of our days that feels dull and dreary. Let's pray: Faithful Lord God‚ Just like the sun that does not stop shining just because the clouds hover overhead‚ I am so thankful for your light that never stops beaming into the hearts and lives of your beloved children. And that includes me. Your love‚ your peace‚ and your joy are always available to me. Your many treasures and visible gifts are scattered all throughout your glorious creation for me. I am in awe‚ and I thank you. I confess I fail to focus on your constant blessings that your continual light pours out over my life as I seek false fulfillment and the faulty "feel goods" of the world. Lord‚ you are the only source that fully satisfies my soul. Help me soak in your rich presence. Help me sit still with your never-failing words and simmer in your perfect promises. Help me trust the truth that you are always good and always faithful. You are the love of my life‚ the bright light that no power in all creation can extinguish. February 22‚ 2024 What We Fear‚ We Will AvoidLYSA TERKEURST  Lee en español "The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him‚ and he delivers them." Psalm 34:7 (NIV) A few years ago‚ one of my back teeth started hurting. It wasn't the first time that tooth had given me trouble‚ but quite honestly‚ I just didn't want to deal with it. I'd had not one‚ not two‚ but three crowns done on that same tooth. The first one broke. The second one broke. And though the third one seemed like it would finally work‚ the tooth started aching again. Ugh! The dentist informed me the only thing to do was to have a root canal. But fear overcame my heart‚ and I just couldn't bring myself to schedule it. So I dealt with the throbbing pain ... for a full year. I didn't chew on that side of my mouth. I didn't let cold drinks leak over to that side. And I took ibuprofen when the throbbing got the best of me. Finally I'd had enough. The pain overrode the fear‚ and I made the dreaded appointment. And you know what? I survived! Actually‚ the fear of the root canal was so much worse than having the procedure done. I think fear often plays out that way. Sometimes living in fear of what might be causes more stress and anxiety than actually facing what we fear. Maybe you can relate. Is there something you're avoiding because you're afraid? Psalm 34:7 reminds us‚ "The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him‚ and he delivers them" (NIV). To fear the Lord means to honor Him and magnify Him in our hearts more than anyone or anything else. But when I focus on or magnify my lesser‚ anxious fears‚ they become all I can think about. Instead‚ here are three things we can do to focus on God today: Cry out to Him with honest prayers. Verbalize to God what you're afraid of and how paralyzing the fear is. Ask Him to help you discern if there is any truth to this fear. Open your Bible‚ and look for verses that show you what He wants you to do in that moment of fear. Write down truths‚ and then align your next thoughts and actions with His Word. Move forward. We may not always live fear-free‚ but we can choose not to let fears about tomorrow steal our joy for today. Is there an everyday fear holding you back? Is it a fear of confronting an issue with a friend? Is it a fear of stepping out in obedience to God? Is there fear surrounding a medical diagnosis you just received? Oh friend‚ if I were with you right now‚ I would totally hold your hand. But better yet‚ God is with you. And when you know He is with you and His angels are encamped around you‚ you can face your fears. Dear Lord‚ as fears threaten to overcome me‚ I pray Your comfort would embrace me. Help me bring my fears into the light and fix my thoughts on the truths in Your Word. Instead of getting worked up over what I'm afraid of‚ I want to allow the Holy Spirit to work in me. Warren’s prior email‚ sent out last week‚ notes Deaton as a “big cheerleader for crypto interests.” “Ever since I began speaking out about protecting consumers from crypto scams and making that industry follow the same basic regulations as banks and all other financial institutions‚ the crypto lobby has put a target on my back‚” the email read. A former U.S. Marine judge advocate and an asbestos lawyer by trade‚ Deaton has achieved folk-hero status in a corner of the crypto business for his criticism of the Securities and Exchange Commission in its lawsuit against cross-border payments company Ripple Labs for engaging in what it alleged to be illegal sales of the cryptocurrency XRP to fund the development of its business. Deaton‚ himself an investor in digital assets‚ has developed a strong following on X for his opinions on crypto and what he sees as the federal government’s unfair approach to regulating it. Deaton believes the SEC was overstepping its legal authority when it declared all sales of XRP‚ including those made by retail investors on crypto exchanges like Coinbase‚ illegal unregistered securities when it sued Ripple in 2020. In 2022‚ he was granted by the presiding judge in the case the position of “amicus curiae‚” or friend of the court‚ where he represented 75‚000 global owners of the XRP token. Deaton owns XRP as well as a handful of other crypto tokens. Deaton’s involvement helped make the Ripple case one of the most talked about in the worlds of crypto and securities law. Joe Biden’s dog has been in 24 incidents with U.S. Secret Service personnel from October 2022 to July 2023. A newly obtained document shows that Biden’s dog‚ Commander‚ has either bitten or attempted to bite Secret Service personnel 24 times. In the first incident documented‚ the USSS member reported holding a door open to the Palm Room on the West Colonnade side‚ when Biden took Commander out to the South Grounds. “Commander and POTUS were entering the Palm Room through the West Colonnade. Commander came in first‚ circled back and grabbed my left arm‚” the report read. “He then stood up and back down. He is literally my height‚ standing.” The president entered shortly after the dog grabbed the agent’s arm‚ which was not punctured. Incidents with the dog began to stack up‚ documents show‚ with family pet altercations taking place in locations such as the White House‚ Wilmington‚ Delaware‚ Camp David‚ and Biden’s beach house in Rehoboth Beach‚ Delaware. On Dec. 23‚ 2022‚ the first family was returning from the tennis pavilion‚ when Commander attacked a staff member on the left forearm‚ though fortunately‚ the person was wearing multiple layers of clothing‚ and the dog did not leave any marks. Then‚ on June 11‚ 2023‚ an agent was bitten by the family pet when first lady Jill Biden moved from the Cabana to the Oval Dining Room. Documents show the agent held the door to the dining room for the first lady‚ when Commander jumped onto the agent and bit his chest‚ tearing the agent’s shirt and leaving two small lacerations. Most dogs that are highly aggressive and bite a person once are usually put down. But 24 times? This is ridiculous. YOUR REACTION: Who is to blame for this? Commander “jumped at me and bit me in the left arm. I sustained two (2) puncture marks and the skin was broken with blood present‚” the notice said. In May 2023‚ a special agent wrote that White House staff had been advised that “the pet should not be out on its own.” CNN had previously reported that the situation had belied broader tensions between the Biden family and the US Secret Service. Sources suggested the relationship between the first family and the US Secret Service was first strained when the family’s elder dog‚ Major‚ caused an injury to an unnamed Secret Service agent in 2021 before ultimately being sent away more permanently to Delaware. Then-White House press secretary Jen Psaki only stated at the time that Major caused an injury to an unnamed individual. The documents described that incident in more detail. The agent wrote that Major came around the corner of the diplomatic reception room at the White House and “attacked” him “unprovoked.” The personnel said in an email regarding a reimbursement for his coat that the incident “occurred through no fault of my own and I could not avoid this unusual circumstance due to the nature and requirements of my position.” So‚ the Biden family not only had one aggressive dog but two. How is that? The Biden family can’t raise their children right‚ and it seems that also extends to their pets.

Republican nominee and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley spoke in Greenville‚ South Carolina‚ about her commitment to her campaign and not dropping out of the race. She insists on continuing despite not winning a single delegate and trailing massively behind President Trump. Another critical moment during her speech was when she began getting choked about talking about her children. ABC News shares more on that: During a South Carolina speech Tuesday where former U.N.
