“I Have No Idea Where People Come Up With The Stuff” – Riley Green Doesn’t Let Rumors Affect His Songwriting Process
The rumors never end… so I don’t think there’s any sense in paying attention to them.
Of course, country heartthrob Riley Green has been at the center of dating rumors for a couple years it seems like now, with fans convinced that he and duet partner Ella Langley more than friends at some point (both have consistently denied dating rumors), and of course, he’s been tied to Megan Moroney as well.
Outside of the country world, people online are constantly coming up with new theories about who he may or may not be dating, and over and over, he has said he’s single, but who knows what has really gone on behind the scenes… Riley’s obviously a good looking guy, so I’m sure he’s had tons of girlfriends over the years, and maybe he just doesn’t want his personal life in the spotlight.
But because of the nature of the entertainment business, and the fact that people do seem to care a lot about his dating life, the rumor mill continues to churn and Riley opened up about it during a recent interview with Kelleigh Bannen.
She asked him if it ever makes him think twice about the topics he writes about and some of the more personal love or heartbreak songs, and Riley says it doesn’t affect him in that way and he doesn’t let it hinder his songwriting.
He writes about topics that make him feel something, and at the end of the day, no matter what he does, people will speculate… as he puts it, he could “get on the internet and figure out who I’m dating on a daily basis.” If you’re on TikTok at all, you’ve probably seen at least a few a week about girls the internet is trying to pair him with, and I have to imagine you just tune that out at some point:
“I could wake up in the morning and not pick my phone up, and cut the grass, and I would be inviting some sort of speculation into some world. I have no idea where people come up with the stuff they come up with.
I can’t hinder my songwriting because I’m worried someone might think something about me. I could literally get on the internet and figure out who I’m dating on a daily basis, it seems like. People have opinions… it’s wild.
I write from a place that’s strictly like, man, I like this thought, this idea makes me feel something, and maybe it would make the crowd at my shows feel something. I try to stay out of the tabloids, so to speak, whatever that is, mentally when I go to be creative.”
I understand people’s wanting the tea, so to speak, because I’m as nosey as anybody, but I’m glad to know his music won’t suffer because some people on TikTok are just dying to know who he may or may not actually be dating:

If anything, Riley’s music only continues to evolve and get better with every release. He released the deluxe edition of his 2024 album Don’t Mind If I Do this Friday, which features six new songs added to the tracklist of his third studio album.
Two of them have features from other artists in “Cowboy As It Gets” with Randy Houser and “I Just Need You” with Hannah McFarland. The other new songs are “Make It Rain,” “What Am I Supposed To Do Now,” “Bet They’re Biting” and “One To Willie,” which in fact features the living legend himself, Mr. Nelson, and the instantly recognizable sound of his trusty guitar Trigger.

The already fan-favorite “Make It Rain,” which Riley has teased for months now, is just beautiful:
