“The Moment I Stepped Off The Plane… Five Armed Police Officers Were Waiting”

“They escorted me to a private area and told me I was under arrest for three tweets” No, this isn’t me. Since I’m not unfortunate enough to live in the UK where the Starmer regime arrests more people for tweets than most totalitarian regimes. The London Times recently reported that “British police arrest more than 30 people …

Miranda Lambert To Play In Celebrity Ryder Cup: “I’ve Played 22 Holes Of Golf In My Life”

The road to the Ryder Cup begins now. We are 20 days and some change away from this year’s Ryder Cup. September 26-28, 2025, at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York. The famed golf tournament is unlike any other, putting a spin on the individual sport, turning it into a team effort. The Ryder Cup features a team of 12 of the top European golfers going head-to-head against 12 of the best players from the United States in a three-day, match-play competition. While that competition style is riveting, golf fans also look forward to the Ryder Cup to see some of their favorite celebrities compete in the celebrity golf match. The celebrity cup only takes place every other year during the years that it is held in the United States, so the last celebrity cup was held in 2023 and featured stars like Novak Djokovic, football legends Gareth Bale and Andriy Shevchenko, F1 driver Carlos Sainz, actor Kathryn Newton, and former NFL player Victor Cruz. While this year’s list of celebrities who will hit the links for the cup has yet to be confirmed, we do have one confirmed player —and it’s a good one. EXTREMELY amateur golfer, Miranda Lambert, announced on September 3rd that she is planning on playing in this year’s celebrity cup: “I’ve played 22 holes of golf in my life, and I’m playing the Ryder Cup this year. So we are on the road to the Ryder Cup, good, bad and ugly. Come with us.” Lambert shares at the beginning of the video sporting an adorable pink and white golf outfit. She expands on her efforts in the caption, which is great to read while watching her montage of good, bad, and ugly shots. But hey, we’ve all had our fair share of all those: “Y’all, I’m playing in the celebrity Ryder Cup match later this month! Thanks to my coach, Dan Parker, The Troubadour Club, PXG, and my husband Brendan McLoughlin, I’m gonna give it hell. My pal Luke Bryan called and gave me a pep talk the other day and he encouraged me to bring y’all on this journey for moral support. So Day 1 here we go! Cheers to trying new things.” View this post on Instagram A post shared by Miranda Lambert (@mirandalambert) Lambert is new to golf, but she appears to be dedicated to the challenging sport and is giving it her all. She picked up the hobby earlier this year as a way to spend time with her husband, Brendan McLoughlin. It’s all for fun at the end of the day, so as long as he has a blast on the links, that’s all that truly matters. Either way, I’m sure that Lambert will crush it in the Ryder Cup. You go, girl. Riley Green Has A Wild Theory About People Who Sell Mirrors On Craigslist & Facebook Marketplace

That sounds… dangerous. Riley Green is doing the press rounds following the release of the deluxe edition of his  2024 album Don’t Mind If I Do album this past Friday, and during an appearance on the Zach Sang Show this week, he talked about the music, his dating life, dating apps… and what he thinks might be an underground dating website. They got on the topic of Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist, where people list and sell items to other Facebook users, or the general public on Craigslist, kind of like eBay. Well, apparently Riley has scrolled through the “mirror” section a few too many times and has a wild theory about why people really might be selling so many mirrors on there. He explained that many of the photos of the mirrors show the sellers all dressed up to take the photo, because obviously you can see them in the reflection, and he thinks that they’re not only showing off their mirror, but themselves: “If you’ve ever wondered, this may just be me, have you ever seen people selling mirrors on there? I always wonder about, sometimes what they do in the mirror when they’re taking the picture is a weird thing. Like they’re doing a weird stance or something, and I just wondered if there was some underground dating world for people that are just doing that to show themself to get on Facebook marketplace. I think that’s a thing. Next time you’re on there, all you have to do is look at ‘mirror,’ type that in one time and then it’ll be all over the place. And I want you to look, because there will be people who get dressed up  to take a picture of this mirror they’re selling for $50, but they really just want you to see them. I think so.” I mean, I’ve probably heard too many horror stories about these online selling websites and sales that go… really wrong… but of course, out of curiosity, I had to search Facebook marketplace and Craigslist myself to see if his theory held up. And aside from a few photos which definitely looked like the seller might looking for more than just $50, most of them didn’t show the person at all… so maybe it’s been a while since Riley was on either one of those sites. Or he was really searching a different section, in which case I need to know what it was because he has certainly sparked my curiosity. Riley also clarified: “I’ve never bought a mirror or dated a person that was selling a mirror, just so you know.” That of course led to a question about whether or not Riley is on any dating apps, and he assured everyone he wasn’t, so if you see “him” anywhere online, don’t fall for it… “No, no. I mean, there might be a picture of me on one but it’s not really me, for everybody out there.” I know everyone loves to talk about his dating life, but this Facebook marketplace/Craigslist theory was way more entertaining to hear him talk about. We need to get to bottom of it: @zachsangshow @Riley Green has a conspiracy about people who sell mirrors on Craigslist #rileygreen #dating #conspiracytiktok #mirror #zachsangshow ♬ original sound – Zach Sang Show There have been so many stories and theories about these kinds of sites, I’m sure many of you have heard them before, and one TikTok user commented on the video: “My sister was a Craigslist prostitute…. it blew my mind.” Maybe Riley’s theory does hold up, but I can’t even begin to go there… do with that information what you will. The full podcast is available below. “One To Willie” on the deluxe edition features the living legend himself, Mr. Nelson, and the instantly recognizable sound of his trusty guitar Trigger. “One To Willie” The already fan-favorite “Make It Rain,” which Riley has teased for months now, is just beautiful: “Bet They’re Biting” is a song about Riley’s grandpa getting older, and it will rip your heart out too:  The post Riley Green Has A Wild Theory About People Who Sell Mirrors On Craigslist & Facebook Marketplace first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

Megan Moroney Explains How Her Football Song “Tennessee Orange” Changed Everything: “Easy To Market This Time Of Year”

Megan Moroney Explains How Her Football Song “Tennessee Orange” Changed Everything: “Easy To Market This Time Of Year”

You can’t go wrong with a football song. Of course, Megan Moroney’s first #1 hit was “Tennessee Orange,” which she released in 2022 and first went viral on TikTok, ultimately helping secure her first record deal and launched her onto the path to becoming the country superstar she is now. The song was co-written by Megan, Ben Williams, David Fanning and Paul Jenkins, she sings about falling for a guy who’s seemingly converted her into a Tennessee Volunteers fan, as she admits she’s now wearing “Tennessee Orange for him,” and even finds herself going to games at Neyland stadium. On top of that, seeing as she’s a diehard Georgia Bulldogs fan, he has her committing the most egregious of sins that her daddy would never approve of, like “learning the words to ol ‘Rocky Top,’” and even forgetting that she’s “always looked better in red.” It’s a cute song that sounds even better during football season, and during a recent event, Megan told the full story behind how the song got recorded and what made her decide to put it out. She was approached by Spotify, and they needed an unfinished song, so seeing as it was right at the beginning of football season, Meg decided that was the perfect time to drop it. She knew the massive streaming platform had a way bigger reach than she did back then, and seeing as she was still an independent artist, she said she took every possible opportunity that came her way back then: “At this point, I’m an independent artist. I’m still just trying to get my name out and taking advantage of every opportunity. I was still playing every free, you know, guitar pull, writers round, even the ones were I knew no one would be there, but I would get reps in. So at this point, I’m still grinding, and Spotify had come up with an opportunity to put me on their ‘Fresh Finds’ program. And for me, I was like, ‘Okay, Spotify is gonna promote this song and they have a bigger reach than I do, so I definitely need to do this.’ Because as an independent artist, you take whatever you can get. They were like, ‘So it needs to be an unfinished song, and it’s coming out September 2nd. We’re gonna record you in the studio, and it’ll be like, unfinished finds. It’ll be like all whole storytelling moment.’ And I was like, well, I’ve got this football song. It’s like the second week of football season, so maybe they’ll like this one. And then my marketing brain, I’m like, that’s easy to market this time of year anyways, it’s a song about Georgia and Tennessee football, kind of. I released it just because Spotify asked me for a song, and I was like, this football one will probably work. And then it changed everything.” Since that release three years ago, Megan has become one of the premiere mainstream country artists, playing sold out shows all over the country, and just last year, she won her first New Female Artist of the Year at ACM Awards. Obviously, she’s still very young and in the early stages of her career, but has already released two very successful studio albums Lucky (2023) and Am I Okay? (2024), and it all started with a “football song” that hit at the right time and showed off her songwriting prowess and unique perspective on love. Sometimes, that’s all it takes, and it’s still one of my favorite Megan Moroney songs: | Megan shares about the process of releasing ‘ Tennessee orange ‘ in an interview with Diane Warren. pic.twitter.com/qTQ7lolIsn — Megan Moroney Tour & Updates (@megmoroneytours) September 3, 2025 It just hits different during football season… “Tennessee Orange” The post Megan Moroney Explains How Her Football Song “Tennessee Orange” Changed Everything: “Easy To Market This Time Of Year” first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

John Rich Calls Country Labels “Indentured Servitude,” Blasts Executives From New York & LA For Controlling What Artists Can Say

John Rich Calls Country Labels “Indentured Servitude,” Blasts Executives From New York & LA For Controlling What Artists Can Say

Similar to comments another country artist made recently… A couple weeks ago, Aaron Lewis sat down with Tucker Carlson for a wide-ranging conversation, where he discussed what he saw was the reason country music has become so pop-leaning over the past decade or so: “It’s been infiltrated by California, just like everything else… Within my career, about halfway through it, everything changed in the industry and a lot of consolidation happened. A lot of people lost their jobs at whatever record label they were at, or they were in the top 40 side of things, and everything got condensed and… they all either went to Nashville or they went to country radio. And I truly believe that has something to do with why country has become so popified, where it’s like the land of the misfit toys, where it’s not really country, it’s not really pop. It kind of rides right down the middle of it and becomes its own thing. And they should call it its own thing. Like, it should have its own genre and classification, and instead they call it country. And I don’t know how you can put George Jones and Merle Haggard in the same sentence as Morgan Wallen or Rascal Flatts. I mean, how do you even, how does that correlate? How does that fall into the same category? Because it doesn’t in any way, to me.” Of course there’s been a lot of talk about country music becoming more “popified” as Lewis says, even long before the current trend of actual pop artists crossing over into the genre. Starting in the early 2010s and the rise of “bro country,” influences of rap and pop became increasingly prevalent and a source of frustration for fans of traditional country music. And John Rich recently sat down with Shawn Ryan, where he also discussed a shift in country music executives that led to a changing sound – and changing political views: “It was in the 20-teens, probably 2010, around in that range, when Obama became president, you saw Music Row, a lot of the original guys that were running those labels from back in the day, which were actually country music fans and they were mostly all patriotic guys and really talented and they were country music to the core. They started replacing those people with people from LA, people from New York. They would bring in a New York guy to replace the Nashville guy at, for instance, RCA Records or something. And when the new guy comes in he would start changing the culture of that label, which bled all the way down into the artist, and it bled all the way down into the publicity departments, and what kind of songs you were allowed to cut and not cut, what interviews you were allowed to do, who you were allowed to interview with.” The Big & Rich singer says that he started to receive criticism from his label for his political views, even though “I started getting in trouble with the label because I was doing interviews with Sean Hannity… I played a song at the first big Tea Party rally in Georgia, it was 20, 30,000 people, and my record label went absolutely insane that I did that. ‘You’re going to upset half your audience.’ And of course they’ve got their money invested in you to go sell records to everybody, and from their perspective I’m alienating people. I said, ‘Well you’ve got liberal artists that are out here saying all kinds of stuff that I don’t like, you’re not worried about them.’ They go, ‘That’s not the point.’ It WAS the point… I guess what they mean by, ‘That’s not the point’ is, ‘We own you. We own your voice, your likeness, your music. And if we say we don’t want you to do it, that’s the point.’ It’s do as I say and not as I do… It’s like an indentured servitude type of existence.” Rich says artists, including himself, are forced to choose between bowing to a label’s demands to chase their dreams or being able to speak out on how they truly feel: “I grew up my whole life wanting to be on country radio, play the Grand Ole Opry, write hit songs. Country music, man, that’s what I wanted to do. That’s my American dream. And my vehicle to do that is this big record label. So if I lose that, do I lose the American dream by losing that? And that’s what artists are looking at. You wonder about the ones who don’t say anything, that’s literally what they’re looking at. So you really only see the bigger, established artists that are too big to cancel, they make too much money for the record label to drop them.” He uses Jason Aldean as an example of an artist who’s able to speak out because he’s established enough of a following and attracted support due to his political views. And he also cited Carrie Underwood and the backlash she received for performing at the inauguration of President Donald Trump as an example of why artists are afraid of speaking out on politics: “If you even dip your pinky toe into that, they’re going to come at you.” Now, there’s a lot going on here, and he’s really speaking on a couple of different issues. There’s a big difference between getting criticism on Twitter and your record label telling you that you can’t perform for a certain group or say things because of your political views. But his comments are eerily similar to those made by Aaron Lewis when it comes to the changing dynamic inside Nashville record labels, and the control those labels exert on their artists.
