Hospitals across the country are still pushing woke policies, despite a nationwide backlash against diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), a watchdog warned Congress.  Consumers’ Research said lawmakers must hold hospitals receiving federal tax privileges accountable for pushing racially-focused initiatives and transgender procedures on kids, according to a letter obtained by The Daily Wire. The letter came ahead of a congressional hearing on Wednesday morning by the House Energy and Commerce committee on improving healthcare transparency.  “As nonprofit hospitals keep prioritizing divisive woke ideology, Congress must hold them accountable,” Consumers’ Research Executive Director Will Hild told The Daily Wire. “Federal funding and tax-exempt privileges should never be used by hospitals to advance a radical political agenda.” “When hospitals go unchecked with access to taxpayer dollars, consumers are left footing the bill for woke policies that distract hospital support meant for patients. This pattern of waste and abuse at hospitals across the country needs to be stopped,” he added.  Hild’s letter to House Committee on Energy and Commerce Chair Brett Guthrie and other committee members highlighted multiple examples of hospital systems he said were “using federal funding streams and taxpayer-sponsored resources to fund political agendas at the expense of patient care.” An example in the letter included the California-based Kaiser Permanente, the largest private nonprofit healthcare organization in the country. The provider made headlines for ending transgender surgeries on children, but still has several racially focused initiatives in place.  The aim of its Center for Black Health and Wellness is to “improve the health of our Black members, elevate their care experience, continue to build trust, create culturally responsive care, and best practices that can be shared across our organization and the health care community.” Kaiser Permanente cites questionable research that black patients require black doctors for better health outcomes. It says the center is rooted in “equity” with the purpose of enhancing and expanding “the care of our Black patients.” Another example cited in the letter included the University of California-San Francisco Benioff Children’s Hospital, which has a “Child and Adolescent Gender Center.” The center “offers comprehensive medical and psychological care, as well as advocacy and legal support, to transgender, nonbinary and gender-diverse children and adolescents.” The clinic accepts patients between the ages of 3 and 17.  “Before the onset of puberty, our care focuses strictly on social and emotional development, and we don’t offer gender-affirming medical treatments,” the clinic said. “Once a patient reaches puberty, gender-affirming medical treatments may be considered following a thorough mental health assessment by a gender specialist.” The clinic offers puberty blockers to kids, treatments it claims are “reversible.” Groups like Do No Harm have highlighted how puberty blockers can permanently impact bone development, particularly density in the hip and spine. Consumers’ Research has launched the “Bad Medicine” campaign targeting health systems it says push woke politics. Last week, it highlighted how the University of Miami Health System recently scrubbed DEI and transgender-related content from its website.  Hild told lawmakers that hospitals should be held accountable for woke policies.  “This isn’t isolated activism. These kinds of misguided and potentially illegal policies must be stopped,” Hild wrote. “It is imperative for patients that hospitals return to their core mission of patient care and use federal funding as it was intended.”

El Centro Border Patrol Chief Gregory Bovino, who was known for his aggressive roving patrols in major American cities, will soon retire. Bovino was tapped to lead aggressive raids in Los Angeles, Chicago, Charlotte, New Orleans, and Minneapolis, where he was eventually replaced after the fatal shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti in January. He soon became the face of the Trump administration’s mass deportation campaign and was seen walking around cities accompanied by federal agents as they conducted roving patrols. President Donald Trump replaced Bovino with border czar Tom Homan in the aftermath of the deadly shootings. After Minneapolis, Bovino was sent back to his post at the border, ending his long reign leading the aggressive immigration sweeps across the country. While serving as a commander for the at-large operations across the country, Bovino has aligned himself with outgoing Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, advocating for increasing arrest numbers and putting on a show of force, as previously reported by The Daily Wire. Homan, however, has long advocated for ditching quotas and focusing on nabbing the worst criminals first. The Border Patrol official plans to leave the agency at the end of March after serving the agency since the 1990s. “The greatest honor of my entire life was to work alongside Border Patrol agents on the border and in the interior of the United States in some of the most challenging conditions the agency has ever faced,” Bovino told Breitbart Sunday, adding, “Watching these agents out there giving it their all in some of the most dangerous of environments we have ever faced was humbling.” Bovino’s retirement coincides with Noem’s exit as Homeland Security secretary at the end of the month. Leading up to her firing, Noem faced backlash for tagging Pretti as a domestic terrorist without waiting for a federal investigation into the fatal shooting to conclude. Bovino also apparently got ahead of an investigation, claiming Pretti intended to “massacre” federal agents. News Spider-Man: Brand New Day Spider-Man: Brand New Day Trailer Is Full of Growing Pains and Other Villains Spider-Man: He’s just like us! (Lightly stalking his ex via social media) By Molly Templeton | Published on March 18, 2026 Comment 0 Share New Share Spiders, according to an unseen Keith David in the brand-new trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, have three life cycles. Peter Parker (Tom Holland) seems to be between two of his. This is a vulnerable time, and his DNA may be mutating, which—Dr. Banner (Mark Ruffalo) tells him—would be very dangerous. (Banner does manage to make “dangerously mutating DNA” sound kind of fun, though.) But can Peter Parker focus on just one problem at a time? No. Peter and a perfectly grumpy Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) seem to be fighting a tank, and the ninja gang, the Hand, is hanging out in fancy red robes, and there appears to be someone, or something, jumping around from body to body. So, yeah. Dangerous time. Brand New Day picks up in the wake of No Way Home, when poor Peter had to make a choice to save the world—with the consequence that no one remembers him. As is inevitable, this leads to some awkward encounters with his once-girlfriend MJ (Zendaya) and bestie Ned (Jacob Batalon), who are now freshmen at MIT. How Peter finds time to angst in around the plethora of villains that turn up here, one can only imagine. Along with the Hand and the mysterious body-hopper, Scorpion (Michael Mando) is here, as is Tombstone (Marvin Jones III), and somebody playing Tarantula. We have had Spider-movies that are overstuffed with villains before; let’s hope this isn’t one of those. To be fair, it doesn’t look like it. There’s a lot of charm in this trailer, and a lot of mystery. Severance superstar Tramell Tillman pops up for a single line. It is suggested that the body-hopping may be orchestrated by someone in a hood, which immediately led to a lot of speculation that the unseen Sadie Sink is playing the telepathic X-Man Jean Grey. It’s also still unclear who The Bear’s Liza Colón-Zayas is playing. Tom Holland has promised this Spider-Man will go old-school, and given the references to the animated ’90s Spider-Man cartoon being bandied about among Reactor staffers, it seems to be succeeding—so far. Brand New Day is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) from a script by returning writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. We’ve talked about the skills you need to develop so you can use those supplies.  But there’s a ton of medical advice on the internet that is just terrible, as this video with two professional paramedics discussing first aid myths shows. It’s important to note that giving the wrong first aid treatment can sometimes be more harmful than no treatment at all. It’s important that you call 911 if you can. Their operators are trained to help callers remain calm and to walk them through the correct steps. First things first, remain calm. Remaining calm is of the utmost importance, as Selco noted in this article with a video of an example of terrible first aid. It’s perfectly natural to be adrenalized in a first aid situation, but with the proper training, you can put that adrenaline to good use. Without undermining those folks’ wish to help, it must be said that they overreacted in treating a wound that looked absolutely like a wound that does not require the use of a tourniquet. In the survival movement (and not only there), a tourniquet is seen as a magical device that saves lives, and that almost should be used whenever blood occurs. In reality, the explanation when you should use a tourniquet is very simple – whenever you can not stop the bleeding in any other way. The bleeding in the video looks like it could have been stopped by good old direct pressure without any problems. However cool the use of the tourniquet may look, there is (or there should be) common sense in using it. Again, you use it when you can not stop massive bleeding in any other way because by using the tourniquet for example, on a leg like in the video, you are obstructing blood flow to the leg. From the point of application of the tourniquet, in other words, the leg is not getting blood and eventually, it will “die”. That is the reason why you should use it only when other means are not stopping massive bleeding.  You use a tourniquet only in life-threatening situations. Now, you as a prepper add to the fact that in the world without a running system (and hospitals) you should be extra careful when to use it, because “help is on the way” might not be an option. By applying an unneeded tourniquet on the leg, for example, you might turn a small wound into a situation when complicated surgical procedures might be needed. Remaining calm will allow you to think clearly and help the victim. The more training you have, the more likely you are to remain calm. 12 First Aid Myths Luckily, most people who have taken recent First Aid courses know that these myths are false. However, the last time I had to take a family member into the hospital for a concussion (just a couple of years ago), the doctor told us to wake her up every hour or so. Check out these first aid myths. Are you missing any important supplies or skills? I’m up-to-date on my first aid training and have most of the items they mentioned, except for the defibrillator. They’re pretty expensive additions to your medical kit.
