Great Big Ugly Surveillance State

On March 20, President Trump signed an executive order “Eliminating Information Silos.” The order directed heads of federal agencies to make sure officials designated by the president “have full and prompt access to all unclassified agency records, data, software systems, and information technology systems.” The executive order did not attract much attention until it was …

The Hot Country Knights Perform “Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident)” With Surprise Appearance From Billy Bottoms Jr.

The Hot Country Knights are back and better than ever. If you’re a fan of ’90s country, then you need to familiarize yourself with the Hot Country Knights. The supergroup has been making music for decades, but most country fans were unfamiliar with their work until 2015. The HCK are very selective with their musical releases and tour dates, so catching them live is a treat for anyone. And they love to make surprise appearances with the “Drunk On A Plane” singer, Dierks Bentley’s tour. This is because Bentley helps produce the group’s music. In 2023, Bentley hit the studio with the HCK and fellow ’90s star Darla McFarland to release two heaters, “Herassment” and “Midnight Rodeo.” View this post on Instagram A post shared by Hot Country Knights (@hotcountryknights) Darla McFarland and frontman Doug Douglason used to be old flames. While I hoped that we’d get some new singles from the duo after the release of “Herassment,” it appears some bad blood from their past relationship might have resurfaced because at a recent HCK appearance, they brought out a new collaborator. At Ohio’s The Country Fest, the Knights brought out a brand new mustache-rocking, cigarette-smoking cutie, which made the girls swoon. It’s giving the same energy as George Strait, making “a cowgirl’s jeans twitch from 100 yards.” This new band member might remind you of the ’90s country revivalist Zach Top, but given that the HCK don’t work with modern-day artists, it’s hard to believe they would team up with the “I Never Lie” hitmaker. But this is not Zach Top, this is recently released prisoner Billy Bottoms… and before you get any ideas, Alan Jackson is not his dad. Billy Bottoms sold the Ohio crowd that he learned to sing country music while he was in the slammer, and boy, did he learn a thing or two. He and the other HCK fired up the ’90s John Michael Montgomery classic “Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident).” Billy Bottoms is a machine that steps up to the microphone, flawlessly delivering lyrics while ripping a cigarette. Talk about talent. Fans were loving the addition of Billy Bottoms to the group, with some comments saying: “He is the reincarnation of country music we ALL NEEDED.” Talk about some high praise. I hope we see more Billy Bottoms with the Hot Country Knights because this collaboration is a must-watch. They are electric on stage together. Check it out: @justinevans91 @Zach Top @dierksbentley Did not disappoint. #zachtop #dierksbentley #concert #zachtopconcert #dierksbentleyconcert #zachtopmusic ♬ original sound – Justin Evans The post The Hot Country Knights Perform “Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident)” With Surprise Appearance From Billy Bottoms Jr. first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

The Internet Is Divided Over Which Nashville Bar Morgan Wallen Is Referring To In His Song “20 Cigarettes”

Which one is it? Morgan Wallen has a new song on his latest 37-track collection, I’m The Problem, called “20 Cigarettes.” It’s already become a favorite among his fans on social media, and it’s actually one of my favorite songs on this latest project from Big Loud Records (full disclosure, I haven’t listened to the whole thing yet). The song tells the story of a night that starts out with a fresh pack of cigarettes and ends when the final “lucky cigarette” is smoked. And the night just happens to start out at a bar, “on that redwood deck on Demonbreun.” “Twenty cigarettes and I lit me one On that redwood deck on Demonbreun She was with her friends, left ’em standin’ there There was more than smoke in that summer air We burned two while she told me ’bout her hometown She was drinkin’ Tito’s, said I better slow down I was like, “Hell nah I ain’t drinkin’ by myself, nah” Said she loved my accent, so I kept talkin’ Reached for the pack on the table by my wallet We tore off to light the night we had left” Now, most Nashville natives are just thankful that Morgan is finally teaching everybody else how to pronounce “Demonbreun.” (It’s not “demon-brewin” or “demon-braun.”) But there’s another debate raging about the song over on TikTok: Exactly where is that “redwood deck on Demonbreun?” The common thinking seems to be that it’s Red Door Saloon, a bar in midtown Nashville that’s a popular hangout for locals and musicians, as well as some of the best songwriters in Nashville. The bar has a deck that’s dimly lit with red lights, and seems like the kind of place that a story like this would play out at. @nashville_stacy On that redwood deck on Demonbreun #morganwallen #morganwallenmusic #imtheproblem #nashville #musicrow #reddoorsaloonnashville ♬ 20 Cigarettes – Morgan Wallen But it’s not actually on Demonbreun. Red Door Saloon is on Division Street, just off of Demonbreun. So that has many people arguing that the bar is actually Tin Roof, which also has an outdoor deck and is located on Demonbreun Street. Which one is it? Both are popular bars for songwriters to hang out at, and the song wasn’t written by Morgan (who can’t exactly just go hang out at the local bars anymore), but was actually written by Blake Pendergrass, Chase McGill, Josh Miller and Chris LaCorte. Where do these guys hang out? Is it Tin Roof or is it Red Door? If I had to guess, I’d say that they had Red Door Saloon in mind when they wrote the song, but Demonbreun just fit into the song better than “Division.” Demonbreun turns into Division Street anyway, and after a few too many root beer float shots at Red Door you’re probably burning heaters and don’t know what street you’re on anyway. We’ll continue to monitor to see if we get any hint from the songwriters as to which bar they’re referring to so we can finally settle this debate once and for all. But for now, the internet is just going to have to debate whether the redwood deck is ACTUALLY on Demonbreun or not. Is Bud Light Lime The Most Underrated Concert Beer?

Is Bud Light Lime The Most Underrated Concert Beer?

Move over spring, summer is (almost) officially upon us, which means one thing and one thing only: It’s concert season baby. While we’re all begging and ready to get ourselves packed into a lawn to listen to our favorite artists, there is one undeniable downside to a lot of these shows… The price of beer is just unbelievably high. I saw Luke Combs at Commanders Field last year and was paying $19 for a can of semi-cold domestic, which is not really the most economical way to catch a country concert buzz. So, if you are shelling out for an expensive can of beer at a concert, what’s the best one to go with? Of course, you can stick to the classics (Miller, Bud, Coors), or maybe go with some seltzers, the relatively high shelf Landshark, or heck if you’re lucky they may still be slinging a Mang-o-rita or two (don’t sleep on them but also beware the 8%), but there’s a secret we all know but few want to admit… After a day of the sun beating down on you in a dusty parking lot tailgate, with your feet sore in your boots and the horrors of using the closest Porta-Potty behind you, after you’ve slugged down some warm liquor that was sitting in someone’s car and you pushed your way through the crowded entrance of hectic people trying to get nowhere in a hurry, there’s only one beer you truly want to wash away the heat and get you back in your groove: Bud Light Lime. Already, a few purists have closed the website, cursed my name and vowed to hate me forever for suggesting they might want Bud Light Lime, but hear me out and put yourself back in the shoes you once wore. The air is stuffy, you’ve only eaten some chips and a soft pretzel since you started drinking, which is awhile ago at this point. You’ll eventually shell out for a chicken tender basket but right now you need something to drink that won’t put you over the edge but will wash out the stale taste of warm Calico Jack that just won’t go away. You need something light, something that tastes like beer, but something a little sweet to counteract the poisonous taste of cheap, hot rum. (If you haven’t noticed, I’m having flashbacks.) You need Bud Light Lime. And before you get all up in arms, this is not a sponsored post. I just truly believe the world would be better if we all started throwing these back at concerts. There’s an air of fun to Bud Light Lime, a playful smile that puts you and those around you in a good mood. Not to mention it’s delicious and will have you back on your feet to sing along to the 8 songs you know because your a fan but you’re really only here because your friend likes them. Let’s stop taking ourselves so seriously. Also, cool it with the seltzers… most taste like carbonated metal water. And IPAs don’t even deserve a mention. This year, crack open a few Bud Light Limes and let the good times happen. We need a great summer and Bud Light Lime is the unifying beverage that’s going to get us there. At least in my opinion and no one’s ever disagreed with that before… And if you’re more of a dad beer purist, try the brand new Busch Light Lime… out for a limited time TODAY. IT'S TIME FOR BUSCH LIGHT LIME! Summer just got a whole lot more refreshing. Now available in select markets for a LIME-ited time only! pic.twitter.com/hW1rwBtreE — Busch Beer (@BuschBeer) June 16, 2025 And then there is “Bud Light Blue,” but that’s a whole nother conversation… The post Is Bud Light Lime The Most Underrated Concert Beer? first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

Riley Green Scores First Solo #1 On Billboard Country Airplay Chart With “Worst Way,” Announces Second Duckman Jam

Duckman Jam is back. Riley Green announced this morning that he’s bringing back his Duckman Jam festival for the second year, which was previously held at the Flora-Bama beach bar in the Spring of 2024, but this fall, it will be taking place on November 22nd in Little Rock, Arkansas to kick off duck season. Along with Riley headlining the concert, Jamey Johnson, Drake White and Lauren Watkins will join him as support, which will make for a great show and I couldn’t think of anything more on-brand for Green, also known as @rileyduckman on Instagram, to kick off duck season with a show like this… View this post on Instagram A post shared by Simmons Bank Arena (@simmonsbankarena) Riley has also teamed up with Ducks Unlimited to donate $5 from every ticket sold in support of conserving North America’s wetlands and the wildlife that depend on them, which is really cool and a great way to support a cause that is obviously very near and dear to his heart. In addition to announcing the 2025 Duckman Jam, Riley scored his 3rd career #1 on the Billboard Airplay Chart this weekend with “Worst Way,” which is his first solo #1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart (his song “There Was This Girl, which was his first solo radio hit, topped the Mediabase chart). Of course, “Worst Way” was first part of his Way Out Here EP, then on his third studio album Don’t Mind If I Do last year. It was a solo write by Riley, and quickly became a fan-favorite for its sensual, seductive lyrics and departure from what Riley normally writes about, which is heartbreak and losing a girl… the complete opposite of this song. The video has over six million views now, and obviously, a lot of the ladies haven’t been able to stop watching it. Serving as his current single, “Worst Way” is sonically and lyrically unique in Riley’s catalog, as he typically talks more about sadness and heartbreak than the really intimate parts of being in love. Clearly, that strategy of switching it up is clearly working for him, and I think the music video might be even more popular than the song itself somehow… Riley joked in a recent interview with Katie Neal for Audacy’s Katie & Company that the steamy video was made with “AI,” but in reality, he knew he had to make it somewhat funny in order to be able to really buy in. He took inspiration from one of his favorite Kevin Costner movies Bull Durham, specifically the scene where you see him in a bathrobe eating cereal: “AI… what they can do with computers now is crazy. I think I got sent a treatment and it was really, like, right at it. And it was very… I said, there’s gotta be something about this that is a little funny. Like a little comedic relief. And the movie ‘Bull Durham’ was one of my favorite Kevin Costner movies years ago, I had a huge crush on Susan Sarandon, and there’s a scene where they’re sitting in the kitchen. I think he’s smoking a joint, he’s got on her bathrobe and they’re eating cereal, and that’s the vibe I wanted. Throwing the wine and throwing the roses, the kind of cheesy looking at camera thing. It was like an Old Spice commercial, you know. It ended up being a lot of fun. It’s not it’s not really comfortable shooting a music video like that, but it ended up being a lot of fun.” It’s certainly not safe for work, fair warning, but I’ll just leave the music video below… and congrats to Riley on a solo #1. That says a lot in the country world today where it’s becoming more and more rare to write alone and have this much success with it. “Worst Way” Riley Green Tour Dates: June 19th, 2025 – Franklin, TN – FirstBank Amphitheater *$- June 21st, 2025 – Huntington, WV – Marshall Health Network Arena *$- June 26th, 2025 – Cadott, WI – Hoofbeat Country Fest % June 27th, 2025 – Brainerd, MN – Lakes Jam % June 28th, 2025 – Milwaukee, WI – Summerfest % July 10th, 2025 – Winnipeg, Canada – Country Thunder % July 12th, 2025 – Pendleton, OR – Pendleton Whisky Music Festival % July 13th, 2025 – Chicago, IL – Windy City Smokeout % July 18th, 2025 – Kettering, OH – Fraze Pavilion *- July 19th, 2025 – Harrington, DE – Delaware State Fair % July 20th, 2025 – York, PA – York State Fair % July 24th, 2025 – New York, NY – The Rooftop at Pier 17 *@& July 25th, 2025 – Boston, MA – MGM Music Hall at Fenway *@& July 26th, 2025 – Gilford, NH – Bank of NH Pavilion *@& August 1st, 2025 – Bethlehem, PA – Musikfest % August 2nd, 2025 – Richmond, VA – Allianz Amphitheater at Riverfront August 7th, 2025 – Estero, FL – Hertz Arena *@&› August 8th, 2025 – Jacksonville, FL – Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena *@& August 9th, 2025 – Birmingham, AL – Coca-Cola Amphitheater *$- August 16th, 2025 – Sainte-Hélène-de-Kamouraska, Canada – Lasso 2025 % August 17th, 2025 – Calgary, Canada – Country Thunder Calgary % August 21st, 2025 – Bonner, MT – KettleHouse Amphitheater *?- August 22nd, 2025 – Idaho Falls, ID – Mountain America Center *?- August 23rd, 2025 – Nampa, ID – Ford Idaho Center Amphitheater *?- August 25th, 2025 – Morrison, CO – Red Rocks Amphitheatre *?- August 28th, 2025 – Corning, CA – Obsidian Spirits Amphitheater *@- August 30th, 2025 – Puyallup, WA – Puyallup Fairgrounds at Washington State Fair %• September 6th, 2025 – Niagara Falls, Canada – Misty City Music Festival % September 10th, 2025 – London, UK – O2 Forum Kentish Town / September 11th, 2025 – London, UK – O2 Forum Kentish Town / September 12th, 2025 – London, UK – O2 Forum Kentish Town / September 13th, 2025 – Birmingham, UK – O2 Academy Birmingham / September 15th, 2025 – Manchester, England – O2 Victoria Warehouse / September 16th, 2025 – Glasgow, UK – O2 Academy Glasgow / September 18th, 2025 – Belfast, UK – Waterfront Hall / September 19th, 2025 – Dublin, Ireland – Olympia Theatre / September 26th, 2025 – Washington, DC – Washington Nationals Park October 4th, 2025 – Winnsboro, SC – Field & Stream Festival % October 10th, 2025 – North Charleston, SC – Riverfront Revival % November 1st, 2025 – Gonzales, LA – Boots on the Bayou % November 6th, 2025 – Grand Rapids, MI – Van Andel Arena #~/ November 7th, 2025 – St Louis, MO – Chaifetz Arena #~/ November 8th, 2025 – Kansas City, MO – TMobile Center #~/ November 9th, 2025 – Phoenix, AZ – The Hondo Rodeo Fest % November 13th, 2025 – University Park, PA – Bryce Jordan Center #~/ November 14th, 2025 – Toledo, OH – The Huntington Center #~/ November 15th, 2025 – Peoria, IL – Peoria Civic Center Arena #~/ November 20th, 2025 – Lincoln, NE – Pinnacle Bank Arena #~/ November 21st, 2025 – Oklahoma City, OK – Paycom Center #~/ November 22nd, 2025 – Little Rock, AR – Simmons Bank Arena#^$ December 12th, 2025 – Las Vegas, NV – Resorts World December 13th, 2025 – Las Vegas, NV – Resorts World May 30th, 2026 – Panama City Beach, FL – Gulf Coast Jam % *Ella Langley @Vincent Mason #Jamey Johnson ~Drake White $Lauren Watkins -Preston Cooper !Erik Dylan &Wyatt McCubbin ?Mike Ryan •Josh Ross /Hannah McFarland ^Dustin Lynch %Festival dateThe post Riley Green Scores First Solo #1 On Billboard Country Airplay Chart With “Worst Way,” Announces Second Duckman Jam first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

Netanyahu Urges Tehran Citizens to Evacuate

As Israel’s air campaign against Iran entered its fifth day Monday, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told residents of Tehran to evacuate, an announcement echoed by the Israel Defense Forces’s evacuation orders for the Iranian capital’s District 3, which contains a number of important government buildings. Israel has focused many of its airstrikes on taking out important government leaders in a bid to debilitate the Iranian government and decapitate its military, rendering it incapable of the command-and-control capacity necessary to offer effective resistance. To its list of dead Iranian leadership it added Sunday Mohammed Kazemi, Chief of Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps Intelligence, as well as his deputy Hassan Mohaqiq and other senior Iranian intelligence officials. They were killed in an airstrike on an Iranian intelligence facility. The attacks have made it difficult for Iran to respond effectively, but the Islamic Republic continued to launch ballistic missiles against Israeli targets throughout the weekend. Iranian missile strikes Sunday killed eight civilians, wounded hundreds more, and forced a partial shutdown of an oil refinery in Haifa. Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal reports that Iranian intermediaries have been quietly pushing for a reopening of President Donald Trump’s nuclear talks if the U.S. does not join Israel in the war, while other sources told Reuters that Iran had informed Oman and Qatar that it would not be willing to engage in any negotiations while “while under attack.” Trump has declined Israeli invitations to join the bombing campaign against Iranian nuclear infrastructure. Israel does not possess the bunker-busting munitions necessary to destroy some of Iran’s deeply-buried nuclear centrifuges.
