Former Journey Frontman Steve Perry Teases Reimagined Version Of 1983 Hit “Faithfully” With Willie Nelson

This is the collab we need. Today, Journey frontman Steve Perry teased a song with the legend himself, Willie Nelson, posting a simple photo on Instagram with a graphic that says “Steve & Willie” and features a couple of horses. The caption implies some sort of news, or even a song, is dropping tomorrow: “Tomorrow.” Of course, Journey is one of the most popular rock bands of all-time, having the most commercial success in the 70’s and 80’s with smash hits like “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Any Way You Want It,” “Open Arms” and more. They are still touring, too. With singer Arnel Pineda, who has fronted the band since 2007, the group has several stops in 2025 in celebration of 50 years since the release of their album, Freedom. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Steve Perry (@steveperrymusic) They will seemingly be releasing a reimagined, potentially more country version, of Journey’s 1983 hit “Faithfully,” which is evidenced by the video, which will premiere tomorrow, on the Steve Perry’s YouTube page. The song was first released as the second single from Journey’s Frontiers album, and was written by keyboardist Jonathan Cain. It peaked at number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100, giving the band their second consecutive top-twenty hit from Frontiers. It has become one of their signature songs over the years, and is a  beloved, easily recognizable rock ballad that has stood the test of time over many decades. Obviously, they’re not as young as they once were, but it’s still cool to see two legends teaming up… better late than never, plus it just goes to show how popular country is that even an icon like Steve Perry wants to get in on it. Gonna have this stuck in my head for the rest of the day now… “Faithfully” Willie will kick off an extensive run of his annual Outlaw Music Festival tour tonight in Phoenix, Arizona and also features a fantastic lineup in Bob Dylan, Billy Strings, Turnpike Troubadours, The Avett Brothers, Wilco, The Red Clay Strays, Charles Wesley Godwin, Willow Avalon, Waylon Payne and many more. 2025 OUTLAW Luke Combs Says ‘Fathers & Sons’ Was His Least Successful Album: “More Of A Selfish Endeavor”

Luke Combs Says ‘Fathers & Sons’ Was His Least Successful Album: “More Of A Selfish Endeavor”

In my eyes, Luke Combs can do no wrong… but the country music superstar himself might say otherwise. The “Where The Wild Things Are” singer is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in all of modern day country. There’s no doubt about that. Because he is, he was able to flex a creative and personal muscle last year with his concept album Fathers & Sons. Each and every track focused on fatherhood, which makes sense, considering Luke Combs and his wife, Nicole, welcomed their first child (Tex) in June of 2022, and their second child (Beau) in August of 2023. Clearly the theming of being a father was on his mind, and that culminated in his critically acclaimed Fathers & Sons record. And there are some exceptional songs on the project. Don’t even get me started on “The Man He Sees In Me.” That song can make even the toughest, emotionally-constipated (for a lack of a better term) person shed a tear. But unfortunately, it didn’t exactly land with a lot of Combs’ audience who was used to more rocking, anthemic country tracks about slamming beers, hanging with the boys, and of course, a few hard-charging, country heartbreakers. Combs is the first to admit that, and he did so in a recent interview with People: “It was probably more of a selfish endeavor for me. It was something that I felt like I wanted to do and something that I wanted to say. And it’s my favorite thing that I’ve done because it so personal to me. But commercially, it’s easily my least successful album that I’ve had.” As you can see, Fathers & Sons is a “no regrets” type of album that Luke would have wanted to do at some point in his career. Now that he’s done it, the 35-year-old is setting his sights on the next big thing – as modern artists are often forced to do. Back in March, Luke Combs sent this message out, and it certainly got the attention of his fanbase. He stated that he was already working on bringing elements of his next record together, and that it could be the “best record” that he’s ever made: I’ve been spending the last couple of weeks working on what my next record looks like and as it begins to take shape I can honestly say I’ve never felt better about one at this stage. It’s early on but I really do think it could wind up being the best record I’ve ever made. — Luke Combs (@lukecombs) March 26, 2025 Love to hear that. And in that same People interview – where he also said that he was going to cut back on touring to prioritize his family – Combs let it be known that his next album will be going back to the basics… and by that, I mean upbeat country hits that the artist has become known for in his career thus far: “I want to go back and just do the stuff that people probably have been missing for a little bit. I want to get back to some fun stuff. It’s not going to be nothing weird. We’re not doing no jazz album. We’re just doing a kick-a** country record.” Excited for a “kick a**” country record, though I have to point out one ironic thing about that quote. You can’t say that you aren’t “doing no jazz album,” then proceed to go down to New Orleans, Louisiana to play at Preservation Hall alongside the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Well, I guess you can if you are Luke Combs. And to be honest, I wouldn’t be opposed to a jazz album… maybe after this upcoming full-fledged country record? “Bring It On Home To Me” The post Luke Combs Says ‘Fathers & Sons’ Was His Least Successful Album: “More Of A Selfish Endeavor” first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

GLAAD Study Shows Social Media is Failing LGBTQ+ Users

Social media platforms are being admonished by GLAAD, an LGBTQ+ media advocacy organization, for rolling back on “hate speech policies” that once protected the LGBTQ community.  GLAAD’s fifth annual Social Media Safety Index evaluated six major social media platforms: TikTok, X, YouTube, Meta’s Instagram, Facebook, and Threads. Although each platform offers various and specific protections for LGBTQ users, the GLAAD organization scrutinizes each platform’s public policies by “14 LGBTQ-specific indicators,” drawing from a methodology developed by a tech and human rights research organization, Ranking Digital Rights.  TikTok outranked the six platforms for having the “most comprehensive protections for LGBTQ people.” The study noted TikTok’s specific policies that prohibit misgendering and deadnaming, as well as blocking videos that promote “dangerous ‘conversion therapy’ content.” (READ MORE: TikTok Ban Necessary to Thwart CCP) Meta’s Facebook and Instagram tied for second, with YouTube ranking third. GLAAD criticized both Meta and YouTube for the “draconian rollbacks” that removed protections for transgender and nonbinary people. The organization docked down Meta for revising their “hateful conduct” policy, which now allows “allegations of mental illness or abnormality when based on gender or sexual orientation, given political and religious discourse about transgenderism and homosexuality.”  In other words, the organization claims that Meta is the bad actor for allowing room for informative content about not harming the God-given bodies of children with puberty blockers, or how transgender ideology has ruined our military — content which you can find here at The American Spectator. (RELATED: Trump’s Executive Order Ends ‘Trans’ Tyranny and Protects Females) Following the aftermath of the November election, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has been vocal about the negative impact of heavy content moderation practices. In a video detailing these changes, Zuckerberg stated that Meta will once again prioritize free speech by removing restrictions on topics like immigration and gender. “What started as a movement to be more inclusive has increasingly been used to shut down opinions and shut out people with different ideas — and it’s gone too far,” Zuckerberg said.  YouTube was hit for removing “gender identity and expression” from its specific protected groups, despite the company claiming its policy remains unchanged. YouTube also bans advertising content about gay conversion therapy, but was criticized by GLAAD for having no direct policy that prohibits user content about the practice.  Elon Musk’s X was ranked the lowest in granting LGBTQ protections, noting the lack of transparency with policies regarding conversion therapy content, hiring practices, and prohibiting deadnaming and misgendering only “where required by local laws.”  Since entering office, President Trump has signed various executive orders and pushed for policies to remove transgender and DEI ideology from the private sector. Social media companies such as Meta have taken action accordingly, such as eliminating DEI-focused work positions or initiatives.
