‘She saved our lives’: Woman Credits Rescue Dog for Alerting Her to Dangerous Carbon Monoxide Levels

A woman who rescued a dog from a shelter was amazed and overwhelmed to learn that the Siberian husky returned the favor. Samantha Griffen might have died before the carbon monoxide detector even went off, but the husky, Luna, had other ideas. Moving into a new house on 54th and Prestwick Sq, Marion, Indiana last […] The post ‘She saved our lives’: Woman Credits Rescue Dog for Alerting Her to Dangerous Carbon Monoxide Levels appeared first on Good News Network.

Everyone Gets a Face Hugger in Final Alien: Romulus Trailer

News Alien: Romulus Everyone Gets a Face Hugger in Final Alien: Romulus Trailer Facehuggers all ’round! By Vanessa Armstrong | Published on July 18, 2024 Credit: 20th Century Studios Comment 0 Share New Share Credit: 20th Century Studios We’ve seen the facehuggers in a previous trailer for Alien: Romulus. But in the final one released today, we get a heck of a lot more of them and their slimy, probing appendages. If you’re looking for more terror than a facehugger implanting baby aliens down someone’s esophagus, you’re in luck! The latest trailer also teases that the space station and its doomed crew are on a collision course, which confirms that things aren’t going to go so well for anyone we see on screen.   The film, which is produced by Ridley Scott, comes to us from Evil Dead (2013) and Don’t Breathe director Fede  Álvarez and is based on a script he wrote with his regular collaborator, Rodo Sayagues. Romulus takes place between the events of Alien and Aliens and only has this ominous tagline to shed light on what the movie’s about: “While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe.” The film stars several actors (most of whom play characters who will die horrible, horrible deaths) including Cailee Spaeny (Civil War), David Jonsson (Agatha Christie’s Murder is Easy), Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone), Isabela Merced (The Last of Us), Spike Fearn (Aftersun), and Aileen Wu. Alien: Romulus premieres in theaters on August 16, 2024. You can buy your tickets now, if you’re so inclined. Check out the final trailer below. Queens of the Dead: Tina Romero’s Queer Zombie Film Snags Delicious Cast

News Queens of the Dead Queens of the Dead: Tina Romero’s Queer Zombie Film Snags Delicious Cast You had us at “a zombie apocalypse breaks out during their drag show.” By Vanessa Armstrong | Published on July 18, 2024 Credit: Lucasfilm Comment 0 Share New Share Credit: Lucasfilm Tina Romero, the daughter of horror legend George Romero, is working on a horror comedy called Queens of the Dead. The film, which Deadline describes as taking the conceit of George Romero’s iconic zombie films and giving them “a fresh, contemporary, and queer twist” has already lined up an impressive cast, including Katy O’Brian (pictured above in The Mandalorian), Margaret Cho (Fire Island), Brigette Lundy-Paine (I Saw The TV Glow), and Cheyenne Jackson (American Horror Story). “This is the cast of my wildest dreams,” Romero said in a statement to Deadline. “In a movie about survival, you gotta love and root for the survival crew. Every single person in this ensemble brings such a special and specific flavor—both on and off screen. The result is truly a magic sauce.” Here’s the synopsis of the film, which comes from a script written by Romero and Erin Judge: Queens of the Dead follows an eclectic group of drag queens, club kids, and frenemies who must put aside their personal dramas and use their unique skills to combat the brain-thirsty undead when a zombie apocalypse breaks out during their drag show in Brooklyn. Additional cast members for the film include Nina West (Rupaul’s Drag Race), Jaquel Spivey (Mean Girls), Tomas Matos (Fire Island), Quincy Dunn-Baker (No Hard Feelings), Becca Blackwell (Bros), Shaunette Renée Wilson (Black Panther), Dominique Jackson (Pose), Riki Lindhome (Knives Out), and Eve Lindley (Bros). No news yet on when Queens of the Dead goes into production or makes its way to a screen near you. Missouri AG: Stopping Gender Experiments on Children Is ‘Personal for Me’

Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey says his experience as a prosecutor of child abuse and as a foster father fuel his resolve to end gender “experimentation” on children.  Missouri’s top law enforcement officer told The Daily Signal about his litigation and investigations related to transgender surgeries and hormone therapy for minors. Missouri media have dishonestly covered his efforts “in a negative light,” Bailey said in an interview at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Wednesday. “Their narrative is that this is, you know, a ‘social justice’ issue, and child mutilation is not a social justice issue,” Bailey told The Daily Signal’s Mary Margaret Olohan. “Protecting kids is a social justice issue.” Bailey, a Republican, added: “This is personal for me,” alluding to his efforts prosecuting child abuse cases in adult and juvenile courts as well as to his own family life.  “My wife and I are foster parents [and] have adopted kids … and again, I’ve dedicated my personal and professional life to protecting children, and this issue really strikes a chord with me,” the state attorney general told Olohan.  Repeating a promise he has made in the past, Bailey declared, “I want Missouri to be the safest state in the nation for children.” He recalled how the whistleblower files of Jamie Reed, a former employee at a pediatric gender clinic in St. Louis, opened his eyes to “a horror story of gender mutilation, of child abuse.” State investigations that followed showed “a shadowy and clandestine network” of such clinics around Missouri.  Bailey said his office continues to review whistleblower tips on transgender matters and that he’s “proud” to have defended in court Missouri’s law banning child sex changes.  “This is woke, left-wing experimentation, and we can’t let it happen to our kids,” he said. Cenk Uygur Slams Fellow Democrats for Calling Trump Shooting ‘Staged,’ Praises Trump’s Bravery

MILWAUKEE—An influential Democrat who ran against President Joe Biden in the 2024 primary condemned his fellow compatriots on the Left for indulging in conspiracy theories that the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump was “staged,” and he praised Trump’s bravery in the shooting’s aftermath. “I’ve seen so many people, whether it’s the mainstream media or on the Left, saying crazy things like it was staged,” Cenk Uygur, founder of “The Young Turks” talk show, told The Daily Signal in a Tuesday interview at the Republican National Convention. “You’re really going to stage shooting you in the ear, and if they miss by a centimeter, they’re dead? Are you insane? Who would stage that? That’s just nuts.” Uygur also faulted some on the Left for saying, “He has to cool down the rhetoric.” “Brother, he just got shot,” he said. “When you get shot, you’re allowed to say anything you want. I would have said worse.” “I think they’re just in la-la land,” Uygur added. He spoke three days after Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, opened fire at a Trump rally, wounding the former president and fatally shooting Corey Comperatore, a 50-year-old former local fire chief who reportedly dove on family members to protect them. After sustaining the wound, Trump stood up, raised his fist in the air, and shouted, “Fight! Fight! Fight!” before Secret Service escorted him offstage. Uygur praised Trump’s bravery in that moment. “I think that Trump acted brave, and that was an amazing moment there—not just in this campaign but, let’s be honest, in American history,” the Democrat said. “When Trump raises his fist and says, ‘Fight! Fight! Fight!’—that is a brave moment I did not expect from Trump, and then when the crowd started chanting ‘USA! USA!’ I got proud,” Uygur said. “I got proud of this country and I got proud of that moment—that he survived it, he was brave, and that was his audience saying ‘We love you, brother, and thank you for still fighting for us.’” “This brother’s been shot, and here he is standing back up and saying to his crowd, ‘It’s OK, it’s OK, and we fight on,’” Uygur noted. “I think that was his best moment in his life. And so, if you can’t acknowledge that, you just don’t live in the reality-based world.” Uygur remarked that he is not considering supporting Trump or the Make America Great Again movement. “I’m not changing,” he said. “People think, ‘Are you going toward MAGA or are you going toward Trump?’ I’m just acknowledging reality. That moment for Trump during the assassination attempt was super brave. Anyone who says otherwise is just crazy.” “The Young Turks” founder said he condemned violent rhetoric, getting in a jab at Republicans but acknowledging that it affects both sides. “I think the violent rhetoric is really damaging—and honestly, I think the Republicans have done it way more, infinitely more. But this affected President Trump, and it was a disaster,” he said. “Any form of violence is intellectual surrender that’s saying, ‘I cannot beat you with my ideas, so I give up, I’ll just do violence instead.’ And I loathe it. I think it’s the worst thing that can happen in this country.” Uygur told The Daily Signal that he rejects Trump, whom he accuses of “fake populism.” Yet he noted that inviting Sean O’Brien, general president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, to speak at the Republican National Convention “is definitely bold and definitely smart.” “If you actually deliver on protecting average American workers, progressives are open-minded,” he insisted. “Maybe loyalist Democrats who are corporatists and just want to serve their donors, they’re not open minded. Both corporate Republicans and corporate Democrats will always serve their donors, but progressives are open-minded.” He dismissed Democratic leadership as “a bunch of chuckleheads.” The post Cenk Uygur Slams Fellow Democrats for Calling Trump Shooting ‘Staged,’ Praises Trump’s Bravery appeared first on The Daily Signal.

‘Come Up With An Ailment’: Seb Gorka Reminds Americans What Biden Said He’d Do If He Disagreed With Obama

MILWAUKEE—President Joe Biden unexpectedly announced on Wednesday that he had contracted COVID-19. On Thursday, Axios published a report citing staff predicting that Biden would drop out of the 2024 presidential race in the coming days. Bestselling author and radio host Seb Gorka highlighted some rather curious remarks Biden made about what he would do if he disagreed with then-President Barack Obama. “This is fascinating,” Gorka told The Daily Signal at the Republican National Convention Wednesday. “Moments ago, allegedly Joe Biden has caught COVID.” “You guys have to dig this up from the archives, before he became vice president, somebody asked him on camera, ‘What happens if you and Barack disagree?'” Gorka recalled. “Biden actually stumbles and says, ‘I don’t think we’d ever disagree, but if we did’—he said the following—’I’d come up with an ailment and retire.'” Biden didn’t only say this once. “We are simpatico on our philosophy of government and simpatico on how we want to approach these issues that we are facing,” Biden said of then-Vice President-elect Kamala Harris in December 2020 after his election victory, The Washington Examiner reported. “When we disagree, it’ll be just like — so far, it’s been just like when Barack and I did. It’s in private. She’ll say, ‘I think we should do A, B, C, or D,’ and I’ll say, ‘I like A, don’t like B and C. And let’s go, OK.’” “And like I told Barack, if I reached something where there’s a fundamental disagreement we have based on a moral principle, I’ll develop some disease and say I have to resign,” Biden continued. “We don’t have that I’m—we haven’t—and we’ve discussed at length our views on foreign policy, on domestic policy, on intelligence.” The fact that Biden not only said this about Obama but repeated it about Harris suggests it may be less of a joke and more of an unintentional slip-up. After the White House announced Biden had contracted COVID-19, the president released a cryptic message on X that read simply, “I’m sick.” I'm sick— Joe Biden (@JoeBiden) July 17, 2024 Obama and former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi privately warned Biden that Democrats could lose the House of Representatives if he doesn’t drop out of the race, Time reported Thursday. “So we elect you with the top of the ticket, and then you just manufacture ‘an ailment?'” Gorka asked rhetorically in his interview with The Daily Signal. “I guess he’s nine years late, but that’s what he said.” Gorka, who served as deputy assistant to President Donald Trump in 2017, had predicted that the Democratic National Committee would delay the virtual vote to officially nominate Biden, and both Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., pressured the DNC to delay the vote. “You just sit back and buy shares of popcorn, because they are in a mantrap, a bear trap of their own making,” the radio host said. He noted that “it is nigh on impossible to get rid of an incumbent president. You can do the 25th Amendment, but you need two thirds of the cabinet, with the concurrence of the vice president, and you need a majority—a supermajority—of Congress, and that would be such a self-burn for the Democrats.” (The 25th Amendment does require a two-thirds vote of Congress to determine that the president is unable to fulfill his duties, if the president refuses to step aside.) “So what do you do?” Gorka asked. “Well, the only thing you can do is have him resign, and the only way that’s going to happen is if Jill… Jill is like clawing to the Resolute Desk for dear life.” (The Resolute Desk is the president’s desk in the Oval Office.) “So if they can get through to her, give them pallets of cash, immunity for Hunter, Frank, and Joe, and everybody else, then maybe he’ll leave,” the radio host noted. “But then, how do you do an end-run? How do you jump over the female black diversity hire?” Referring to Harris, he said, “Can we just remind ourselves, she couldn’t even scrape 3% of the primary vote of the Democrats? Less than 3% of the Democrats like her, and this is the person you want to try and win an election against my former boss who was nearly just assassinated?” While Gorka expressed optimism that Trump would win in November, he insisted that “three-and-a-half months in politics is an eternity,” and he urged conservatives to register to vote. Warning that Democrats are likely to use various levers to swing the election in their favor, he quoted Trump in calling for voter turnout that is “too big to rig.” The post ‘Come Up With An Ailment’: Seb Gorka Reminds Americans What Biden Said He’d Do If He Disagreed With Obama appeared first on The Daily Signal.

Collusion Cackles? Max Boot's Wife Indicted as Agent of South Korea

Buried at the bottom of page A-3, today's Washington Post ran a little item headlined "Ex-CIA expert accused of aiding South Korea." Sue Mi Terry was "indicted on criminal charges of acting as an agent of South Korea," failing to register as a foreign agent -- like Hunter Biden. At the bottom of paragraph 8, we learned Terry is "the wife of Post columnist Max Boot." Wow! That's the collusion-pushing Max Boot who loved to suggest Donald Trump was an agent of Putin's Russia. Conservative Twitter was amused at the idea that Boot was so suspicious of Team Trump's foreign intrigues he seemed to be missing the activity of his own wife. Or did he? Terry's lawyer is fiercely contesting the indictment from the Southern District of New York.  WaPo journo Max Boot was married to an unregistered foreign agent who was just indicted hahahahahaha https://t.co/Pnq0MNRnxy pic.twitter.com/TGoqOlTHFc — Jarvis (@jarvis_best) July 17, 2024 Russian Spy Hunter, Max Boot, was married to a real life foreign spy while he pushed the debunked Russian collusion hoax in the page of the Washington Post. Evidently he never noticed all of the expensive luxury goods his wife, Sue Mi Terry, was bringing home. pic.twitter.com/9dgVmsCLg5 — @amuse (@amuse) July 18, 2024 The New York Times also published a story, at top of Page A-9 on Thursday. They noted part of her influence-peddling was journalistic. Boot popped up in paragraph 18:  Ms. Terry made media appearances and wrote articles in American and South Korean publications reflecting Seoul’s policy priorities, the indictment said, including an opinion piece for The New York Times in 2014. She also co-wrote a piece with her husband, Max Boot, a Washington Post columnist, about the improving relationship between South Korea and Japan. That's a journalistic embarrassment on top of the political embarrassment. The Post could not disclose they were being used by a foreign power. But that's okay. Before his grotesque execution, the Post published Jamal Khashoggi's opinion pieces, and he was having them "shaped" by his advisers in the government of Qatar. The Post story reported the indictment said South Korea’s National Intelligence Service ”dined with her at luxury restaurants in New York and D.C. and bought her Louis Vuitton and Bottega Veneta handbags and a Dolce & Gabbana coat…Terry provided the intelligence officials with information and access to congressional staffers and high-ranking U.S. government officials.” There was also $37,000 in NIS money in the bargain. It's a classic Washington story of gaming the political and media system for personal gain....even as your prance about accusing others of foreign intrigue! Max Boot should probably take a sabbatical and fulsomely apologize for his hypocrisy.

ABC, NBC Skip Gold Star Families at RNC; Nets Give Vance Surprisingly Good Marks

With President Biden contracting Covid Wednesday and showing even more physical impairment in his grim gait on and off Air Force One, the Republican National Convention was knocked off the pole position Thursday morning for the flagship major news shows of ABC, CBS, and NBC. But when they did get to the RNC, they receive only mixed grades as ABC’s Good Morning America and NBC’s Today failed to mention the emotional video and series of speeches by Gold Star families about their loved ones who were killed in 2021 during Joe Biden’s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan. On the flip side, the networks were surprisingly muted and, dare we say it, positive toward Senator JD Vance’s (R-OH) speech accepting the GOP’s vice presidential nomination. But first, the Afghanistan portion of the evening led to a moment few, if any, had seen before at a convention. ABC’s Terry Moran was moved during coverage on the streaming platform, ABC News Live: ABC's @TerryMoran on the Gold Star families at #RNC2024: "David, I'm not sure I've ever experienced anything like that at a convention. The connection between this crowd and those family members of the fallen. It was just absolutely extraordinary. The emotions, the call and… pic.twitter.com/Nr8pTUT6mu — Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) July 18, 2024 With ABC and NBC not interested on Thursday morning, we’ll point readers to this link from our friend Matthew Foldi, who wrote in The Spectator about the Gold Star families and their anguish CBS correspondent Ed O’Keefe did the right thing: This, from @EdOKeefe on @CBSMornings, was the only mention on the big three network morning newscasts (ABC, CBS, and NBC) of the Gold Star families who spoke at the #RNC2024 about their lost loved ones during the 2021 withdrawal from Afghanistan. pic.twitter.com/GPwkwDsfXx — Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) July 18, 2024 As for Vance, O’Keefe kept it cursory, which one could say was a positive for any Republican (click “expand”): O’KEEFE: [L]ast night was all about J.D. Vance. The 29-year-old senator in politics such a short time, this was his first-ever Republican convention. What a way to start. He spent much of the evening talking about his background, using his youth — at least compared to the other guys — to his advantage and attacking President Biden. [VANCE CLIP] O’KEEFE: Noting his humble beginnings in Ohio, Senator JD Vance made his appeal to working class Americans — [VANCE CLIP] O’KEEFE: — and he wasted no time going after President Biden. [VANCE CLIP] O’KEEFE: Vance was introduced by his wife Usha, who’s the daughter of Indian immigrants and who he met at Yale Law School. USHA VANCE: The JD I knew then is the same JD you see today — except for that beard. O’KEEFE: Ohio Governor Mike DeWine told us Vance’s personal story is a big asset. GOVERNOR MIKE DEWINE (R-OH): He’s gone through in his own life’s story — it’s a story that many Americans have gone through. Co-host Tony Dokoupil said he “ma[de] an impression” with a speech “detail[ing] his rise from Middletown, Ohio, a childhood marked by poverty, his father’s incarceration, and his mother’s addiction” as well as denouncing “what he sees as the failed policies of past administrations, notably including Republicans, but especially and consistently things supported by Joe Biden.” Even co-host and Democratic donor Gayle King was moved, saying Vance gave “quite the introduction” and admitted she “love[s]” his memoir, Hillbilly Elegy. Chief election and campaign correspondent, Robert Costa also put his daggers away for Vance, boasting his speech “was an overture to working Americans in states like Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin” who “are the key voters in the election.” NBC’s Today similarly didn’t have anything bad to say. Co-host Savannah Guthrie said Wednesday was “[a] rollicking show of unity” with Vance’s speech serving as “the hallmark” of the day while Democrats grappled with “questions...about the political future...of the President of the United States.” Sunday Today host Willie Geist replied Vance’s “big introduction to the nation by far the biggest moment of his political career”, so he delivered “a deeply personal and biographical speech.” After its Biden coverage, senior Washington correspondent Hallie Jackson didn’t put a foot wrong in either hour. Here was her first hour (click “expand”): JACKSON: Overnight, Ohio Senator JD Vance making his prime time political debut. [VANCE CLIP] JACKSON: Donald Trump’s running mate highlighting his rural upbringing in Middletown, Ohio. [VANCE CLIP] JACKSON: The author of Hillbilly Elegy, connecting his turbulent childhood raised in poverty to key voter issues like inflation and immigration. Vance also honoring his late grandmother who raised him while his mother struggled with addiction. She was there last night watching from the hall. [VANCE CLIP] JACKSON: The former self-described Never Trumper now positioning himself as a loyal number two, repeatedly name-dropping key rust belt battlegrounds the Trump campaign hopes to win come November. [VANCE CLIP] JACKSON: And Vance not shying away from attacks on President Biden, pointedly referencing his own age at 39 years old, the first millennial on a major party ticket. (....) GUTHRIE: [The Trump campaign] view[s] him as their path to the Midwest and these states — the rust belt states, where he obviously grew up, and he — he was emphasizing those blue collar roots. JACKSON: You saw that over and over again, especially with those references to Michigan, that he ad libbed, to Wisconsin to Pennsylvania. When I talk to sources in and around the trump campaign, they talk about seeing JD Vance as an asset, specifically in the Rust Belt and you may wonder why. Donald Trump is already likely to win over those rural, exurban voters, but it’s all about trying to boost turnout inside the Rust Belt. Donald Trump has a slight lead in those three battleground states, but it is inside the margin of error. And the Trump campaign is looking to lock that in. They’re hoping J.D. Vance will be the ticket for that. GUTHRIE: And they really are must-wins for the Democrats for a path to 270 for — for President Biden. ABC’s Good Morning America had correspondent Rachel Scott on the case and played it straightforward to the point that liberals would be irked, relaying to viewers that Vance “leaned on his Midwestern roots to make the case for the Republican ticket” and “introduced himself to the nation” as a pick by Trump “in part for his ability to preach Trump’s populist message, denouncing trade deals, immigration, and inflation, and laying it at the feet of President Biden, a sharp reminder of the President’s age.” “Vance grew up in poverty in the Rust Belt, served in the Marine Corps, and attended Yale Law School. While working as venture capitalist, he rose to fame with his 2016 working class memoir, Hillbilly Elegy, a bestseller-turned Ron Howard film...Vance repeatedly relying on that biography, especially as he tries to appeal to the Midwestern swing states that will decide this election,” she added. It wasn’t all fun and games as, after more laudatory notes, she ended by invoking the aftermath of the 2020 election (click “expand”): SCOTT: Trump, of course, is not even on speaking terms with the first vice president, Mike Pence who defied pressure from the former President and ultimately ended up certifying the 2020 election results. Senator JD Vance has suggested that he would have followed Trump’s lead and would have handled that entirely differently. So, tonight, here on the fourth and final night, it is Donald Trump’s turn to take the stage and officially accept the Republican’s party’s [sic] nomination for president. Now, Trump himself has said that he ripped up his speech after that attempted assassination on his life to focus more on unity, but after his rhetoric this campaign, we will see whether or not that holds, George. GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: Right, Rachel, and just to underscore something you just said there, he made it very clear that he would not have certified the 2020 election. UNCANNY: Biden hints he’d drop out if 'some medical condition emerged' just hours before he’s diagnosed with COVID-19

While Democrats and conservatives alike have been calling for Biden to drop out of the presidential race due to concerns over his cognitive decline, Biden and his administration have had their heels dug in, insisting that he’s perfectly capable of the job. However, after Biden’s interview with NBC News’ Lester Holt, the tone seems to have magically shifted. Dave Rubin plays a clip of Biden perhaps hinting that he may in fact drop out. Joe Biden Accidentally Drops a Clue That He’s About to Drop Out youtu.be “If I had some medical condition that emerged – if doctors came to me and said you got this problem, that problem,” he told Holt, insinuating that he would step aside if it were deemed medically necessary. Well, doctors indeed came to him with a problem shortly following the interview. Just mere hours later, as Biden prepared to deliver a speech at a Unidos event in Las Vegas, he suddenly came down with COVID-19. It’s “perfectly timed,” if you ask Dave. Considering everything that’s working against Biden – Trump’s “incredible amount of momentum” following the first debate and the “assassination attempt” and the extraordinary amount of unity occurring at the RNC currently – it’s no wonder “Democrats are in utter disarray,” says Dave. “The powers that be at the DNC are trying to figure out what to do here. They can't really force him out; there won't be enough votes on the 25th Amendment side; they have such a freaking thin bench between Kamala and [Pete Buttigieg]. ... There's just nobody left, and Obama is basically realizing he's not going to get his fourth term, so they need to force him out now to just do something to change the narrative,” he explains. To hear more of how Democrats are moving toward ousting Biden, watch the video above.
