‘Incredibly Compelling’: CNN’s Van Jones Says Sarah Sanders Delivered ‘The Speech Of The Night’

Former White House Press Secretary — and current Governor of Arkansas — Sarah Huckabee Sanders delivered “the speech of the night” on Tuesday at the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Liberal CNN commentator Van Jones praised the GOP governor during a panel discussion recapping the convention’s second day and argued that her stories had been relatable and very “moving.” WATCH: Jones: Sarah Huckabee Sanders.. She was incredibly compelling… It was moving and powerful pic.twitter.com/DZX6WJRBOO — Acyn (@Acyn) July 17, 2024 “Sarah Huckabee Sanders, she was incredibly compelling to me,” Jones began. “She told a — she told personal stories that landed, you know, there’s a sense of aggrievement, I think that conservatives feel, that liberal culture demeans them, attacks them, cancels them. She didn’t use rhetoric. She told a personal story, and it was moving and it was powerful.” “And I think having a southern storyteller to bring that stuff home worked really, really well for them. So I think she gave the speech of the night,” Jones said. Sanders brought the house down early on with a crack aimed at President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden. “I got the chance to take my four-year-old son Huck to ‘bring your kid to work day,’ much like Jill now drags Joe to ‘bring your husband to work day,'” she quipped. ‘Try Harder’: Public Calls For PA Mayor To Resign Over Menacing Post After Trump Shooting

The public is calling for a Pennsylvania mayor to resign after he posted what many interpreted to be a menacing message following the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. Mayor Shawn Raup-Konsavage of Bernville reportedly posted, “Try harder” on Facebook shortly after the deadly shooting at Trump’s campaign rally in Butler, about 270 miles west. Meet Shawn Raup-Konsavage @shawnraup , the Mayor of Bernville, PA. He reportedly said “try harder” after the sh**ter missed. Our tax dollars fund his… pic.twitter.com/OA2N0koKPi — Libs of TikTok (@libsoftiktok) July 16, 2024 Raup-Konsavage also wrote “#PennsylvaniaProud” in his post, which included a celebratory background image. The small-town mayor also reportedly doubled down when commenters challenged his rhetoric. “I didn’t take it down… and I have zero intentions of resigning,” Raup-Konsavage wrote. “Better yet, there isn’t even a way for you to have me removed from office,” he boasted. A petition demanding he step down has garnered more than 2,700 signatures as of Wednesday morning, over three times the population of Bernville. In May 2020, just after George Floyd’s death, an X account that appears to be Raup-Konsavage posted that he is an “openly gay man” and praised the “less than peaceful” 1969 Stonewall riots. He reportedly endorsed Democrat Pete Buttigieg’s campaign for president in 2019. “If anyone would be a subject matter expert on not doing your job it would be you Mr. President. Any chance you want to start doing yours first?” he wrote in a June 2020 tweet responding to a post from Trump. Last year, Raup-Konsavage ran for district judge and emphasized that he did not think politics belonged in the courtroom. “Despite being an elected official, I believe that a judge must be politically neutral and politics should never play a role when justice is pursued,” Raup-Konsavage said at the time. Trump narrowly missed being killed when a gunman’s bullet grazed his right ear during Saturday’s rally. He ducked behind a podium before he was whisked away by Secret Service agents. As he exited the stage, Trump raised his fist and shouted, “Fight!” Law enforcement returned fire immediately, killing the shooter. At least one rallygoer was killed, and two others were injured. Since Saturday’s assassination attempt on Trump, many people have put jobs in jeopardy by lamenting on social media that the shooter had not killed the former president. Several other Pennsylvania officials faced backlash over their comments, including a Lackawanna County community-relations manager, Rick Notari, who posted, “It’s a shame the guy missed.” Notari was suspended from his job. Trump is scheduled to speak at the Republican National Convention on Thursday.

Intel Of Iranian Plot To Assassinate Trump Led Secret Service To Boost Security — Before Rally Shooting: Reports

Intelligence concerning an Iranian plot to assassinate Donald Trump reportedly prompted the Secret Service to increase security for the former president before a shooter tried to kill him at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday. CNN cited a U.S. national security source who said the Trump campaign and the Secret Service were made aware of the threat, which officials have not linked to the 20-year-old gunman from Pennsylvania who shot Trump in the ear, killed one rally-goer, and injured two others. “Secret Service learned of the increased threat from this threat stream,” the official told the cable news outlet, adding that the National Security Council “directly contacted the Secret Service “at a senior level to be absolutely sure they continued to track the latest reporting.” The official added the Secret Service “shared this information with the detail lead, and the Trump campaign was made aware of an evolving threat. In response to the increased threat, Secret Service surged resources and assets for the protection of former President Trump. All of this was in advance of Saturday.” Questions have been raised about how a shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, managed to get onto a nearby rooftop and begin opening fire from roughly 150 yards away with an AR-style rifle before the Secret Service shot and killed him. Multiple investigations are underway. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, who is facing calls to resign from Republican lawmakers, told ABC News that her agency was responsible for the “inner perimeter” while local police helped with the “outer perimeter” — including the building on which the shooter was positioned. The Washington Post noted that U.S. intelligence officials have long warned that Tehran might seek to avenge Qassem Soleimani, the commander of the IRGC’s Quds Force, after he was killed by a 2020 drone strike in Baghdad that was ordered by Trump. But, according to the newspaper, an “unspecified threat” is what led the Biden administration to alert the Secret Service. The report cited a national security official who stated that the Secret Service “surged resources and assets for the protection of” the former president. A spokesperson for the Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations denied to CNN that Tehran is involved in any plot to kill Trump. “These accusations are unsubstantiated and malicious,” the spokesperson said. “From the perspective of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Trump is a criminal who must be prosecuted and punished in a court of law for ordering the assassination of General Soleimani. Iran has chosen the legal path to bring him to justice.” Trump’s campaign declined to comment on the former president’s security detail and referred questions to the Secret Service. “The Secret Service and other agencies are constantly receiving new potential threat information and taking action to adjust resources, as needed,” Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said on Tuesday, per CNN. He added, “We cannot comment on any specific threat stream, other than to say that the Secret Service takes threats seriously and responds accordingly.”

Police Warned Secret Service They Didn’t Have Resources To Cover Building Used By Trump Shooter

Local law enforcement officials reportedly warned the U.S. Secret Service before President Donald Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania over the weekend that they lacked the resources to station a patrol car outside of the building where 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks climbed on the roof and shot Trump and others in attendance. Butler County District Attorney Richard Goldinger told The Washington Post that the Secret Service “was informed that the local police department did not have the manpower to assist with securing that building.” A Secret Service official confirmed to the newspaper that Goldinger’s allegation was accurate. The official said that having officers posted outside of buildings is critical for preventing potential assassins from gaining rooftop access to buildings where they have the high ground and a clear line of sight on their target. Video from the incident that was analyzed by the Post showed that police were warned at least 86 seconds before the suspect opened fire. Secret Service Director Kim Cheatle said during an interview this week that she would not resign after her agency failed to prevent the shooting. Cheatle will testify next week before the GOP-led House Oversight Committee on the attempted assassination, the panel announced on Monday. Scheduled to take place on Capitol Hill at 10 a.m. ET on Monday, the public hearing will give lawmakers and the American people a chance to hear first-hand about the attack that took place at Trump’s campaign rally in Pennsylvania over the weekend. “The Secret Service has a no-fail mission, yet it failed on Saturday when a madman attempted to assassinate President Trump, killed an innocent victim, and harmed others,” Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY) said in a post to X, adding that his panel will “get answers.” This is a breaking news story; refresh the page for updates.

Ad Firm Replaces CEO After Congressional Face-Off With Ben Shapiro On Censorship

Advertising monolith GroupM announced Wednesday that CEO, Christian Juhl will step down, one week after Juhl was grilled by lawmakers on an alleged scheme to punish conservative news outlets by withholding advertisements. “After five years the time is right for a fresh challenge, and I’m excited to get started in my new role,” Juhl said in an announcement, which said he will become president of corporate development for GroupM parent company WPP. On July 10, Juhl and Daily Wire co-founder Ben Shapiro both testified to the House Judiciary Committee on whether private companies are colluding to blackball conservative media outlets for not echoing the government line on topics like the COVID lab leak theory. Emails obtained by the committee indicate that GroupM’s Executive Vice President of Global Brand Safety, John Montgomery, plotted to withhold advertising from The Daily Wire because of the site’s politics, even though it did not have any evidence the Wire engaged in “misinformation.” To do that, it worked with the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM), which Republicans say operates as a cartel that gets competing advertisers to deny business to certain outlets. GroupM is part of GARM’s “steer team.” Joe Barone, GroupM’s Managing Partner Brand Safety Americas, wrote that “We have Daily Wire on our Global High Risk exclusion list, categorized as Conspiracy Theories.” When Rob Rakowitz, GARM’s leader, asked Montgomery about The Daily Wire, Montgomery wrote: “There is an interesting parallel here with Breitbart. Before Breitbart crossed the line and started spouting blatant misinformation, we had long discussions about whether we should include them on our exclusion lists. As much as we hated their ideology and bulls**t, we couldn’t really justify blocking them for misguided opinion. We watched them very carefully and it didn’t take long for them to cross the line.” When Rep. Barry Moore (R-AL) asked Juhl “What ideology of Daily Wire and Breitbart does your company hate exactly?” Juhl paused before saying “Um, it’s not an ideology they’re talking about.” Moore replied, “He said ‘we hated their ideology’ in quotes.” “I think that’s an individual viewpoint that he was espousing, it’s not the firm’s decision, it’s not GroupM’s position, and I can’t speak for GARM directly,” Juhl responded. Shapiro pointed out that the email said “we,” not “I.” Montgomery went on to say in the emails: “I don’t know The Daily Wire that well, but I imagine most of our clients wouldn’t want to be on either side of politically divisive content, so they probably block them anyway.” “We should watch them carefully to make sure they don’t stoop below the GARM floor. If we block DW – why wouldn’t we blocking [sic] Fox News?” None of GroupM’s clients advertised with The Daily Wire, Juhl said. The executive claimed all GroupM clients made their own advertising decisions, even though the emails suggest that their ad broker was steering them. Juhl claimed in his testimony that advertisers simply don’t want their products to be near “divisive” content that could alienate audiences. But advertisers’ definition of “divisive” doesn’t seem to include left-wing politics that drive away conservative customers. Bud Light, for instance, did not appear worried that it would alienate drinkers when it tapped transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney, a man who thinks he is a woman, as a spokesman. Brian Lesser, who served as North America CEO of GroupM from 2015 to 2017, will take the helm at GroupM, the announcement said. In Shapiro’s opening statement, he said “there is, in fact, an informal pressure system created by Democratic legislators, this White House, legacy media, advertisers, and pseudo-objective ‘brand safety’ organizations. That system guarantees that advertising dollars flow only to Left-wing media brands.”

Brett Cooper Talks Marriage, Motherhood, And Feminism In 2024

Daily Wire host Brett Cooper opened up about marriage, motherhood, and the “quiet revolution of young women” against feminism in 2024. Speaking to Chris Williamson on his “Modern Wisdom” podcast, the 22-year-old host of “The Comments Section” opened up about her decision to get married in March despite being told by people on the Right that it wasn’t a wise choice.  “It’s been wonderful,” Cooper said. “I have always known I wanted to be married. I’ve always known that I wanted to be a mother. I had a career in Hollywood, I was a child actor for 10 plus years.” “And I remember I had a conversation with my best friend of the time, we were walking through Burbank. And I brought up a concern that I had had basically since I started in this industry and started working with adults…I got to see how they were operating, how they balanced their career and family and marriage, and I did not like what I saw,” Cooper continued. “So, yes it is pretty radical, but even in this industry of being in media, being more on the Right, I still heard it. Still heard it from conservatives, like ‘you’re on the up and up, are you sure you want to do that?’ from people that are pro-family and pro-marriage,” the DW host added.  Later, Cooper talked about how Gen Z feels about motherhood and she pointed out a recent study that found “over half of women do believe that motherhood is just as or more important than a career…these are not conservatives. These are just normal women.” “They don’t want to brand themselves as conservatives, they want to get married,” she added. “They believe that hookup culture is bad and they believe motherhood is important. And so I think deep down, because these are biological instincts, I do believe that women have those urges and want that…there are more women than people think that are waking up.” The DW host explained, “There have been an influx of women just on my social media alone speaking out about cultural issues, social issues, political issues, talking about voting for [former President Donald] Trump.” “These are not political accounts, these are random influencers just girls on their you know private personal social medias talking about the things that Biden is doing in regards to Title IX, the transgender issue,” Cooper said. “That they have been completely woken up realizing, ‘oh I don’t actually want this anymore,’” she added. “Mix that in with the women that are in their 30s, they get made fun of constantly on X for crying in their car about the fact that they can’t meet a guy because they prioritize their career over dating.” Williamson then asked Brett if she thought we were “seeing a kind of quiet revolution of young women beginning to see the importance of motherhood,” and she said yes. Cooper agreed that the “push back against casual sex, against hookup culture” is somewhat tied in with a “conservative movement,” as Williamson mentioned. “I think that there is a lot of overlap, but I don’t think that this is a lot of women suddenly being like, ‘you know I’m conservative’… that’s not what it is. It’s women being intelligent and having self awareness and looking at the world around them and going, ‘this doesn’t sit right,’” the DW host said.  “I think that… in general, women are looking around going ‘oh my gosh, what we’ve been told and fed for the last 20-30 years, none of this makes sense. We need to take a step back and reevaluate and think we’re seeing this in real time,” she added.

Trump and RFK Jr. Discuss Bullet Incident in Private Call

In a private phone call between former President Donald Trump and presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Trump recounted a harrowing moment when a bullet narrowly grazed him at a campaign rally. The conversation, leaked recently, provided insight into Trump's perspective on the event and his admiration for RFK Jr.'s stance on various issues. RFK Jr.’s father was assassinated while also running for president in 1968. A video of Trump’s call with RFK Jr. was leaked – Trump talks about vaccines, tells RFK Jr. doing something with him would be “big,” mentioned his call with Biden and said the bullet was like “the world’s largest mosquito.”RFK Jr apologized for the leak. pic.twitter.com/Z6DQ955P6W — Meridith McGraw (@meridithmcgraw) July 16, 2024 During the call, Trump likened the bullet's impact to the bite of the "world’s largest mosquito." He detailed how the incident occurred and speculated about what might have saved his life, emphasizing the importance of security at public events. The former president's account of the bullet grazing incident highlighted the ongoing threats political figures face, further complicated by the highly polarized political climate in the United States. RFK Jr., in response, expressed his relief that Trump was unharmed and shifted the conversation to broader topics, including their mutual concern over President Joe Biden's policies. Thank GOD Trump and RFK Jr.'s conversation was leaked. This must STOP. In the time it takes for anybody to read this, how many babies will be destroyed in the vaccine conveyor belts of US pediatrics, sold out to the devil? MORE URGENT THAN ANYTHING, IT HAS TO STOP. https://t.co/5LWaxCbhH0 — Celia Farber (@BarrierTruth) July 16, 2024 Trump praised Kennedy, describing him as a "smart" and "good man," despite their differing political ideologies. He also claimed that Kennedy's presidential run would be a "great service to America" by potentially drawing votes away from Biden, although some analysts argue that RFK Jr. could also siphon support from Trump himself. The leaked call sparked significant media attention and political speculation. Some Democratic strategists fear that RFK Jr.'s campaign could inadvertently aid Trump by splitting the vote. Conversely, Republican insiders worry that Kennedy's appeal might detract from Trump's voter base. The latest polling data shows a tight race, with Trump holding a slight lead in a three-way contest involving Biden and Kennedy. Kennedy's campaign has been marked by controversial statements and his opposition to certain mainstream policies, making him a polarizing figure. Despite this, Trump has consistently shown a willingness to engage with Kennedy, perhaps recognizing the unique position Kennedy holds as an independent candidate capable of influencing the 2024 election's dynamics. As the election season progresses, the interactions between Trump and RFK Jr. will likely continue to draw scrutiny, especially given their potential impact on the electoral landscape. Both candidates seem poised to use their platforms to challenge the current administration, setting the stage for a contentious and unpredictable race. Japanese Comedy Duo’s Strange Yet Hilarious Act Nabs Sofía Vergara’s Golden Buzzer

No one knew what to expect when the Schumacher duo walked on the America’s Got Talent (AGT) stage. The audience saw two well-dressed Japanese men with an interpreter. Howie Mandell did most of the talking, with Simon adding a quip here and there. They ended the introductory interview without having the slightest clue what the act was. The Schumacher duo told the AGT judges a bit about themselves. When Howie told the duo to “Go,” they stood there looking confused. Howie said “Go” again and finally got nods of understanding as the team went into their act. The audience and judges panel gasped when one of the Schumacher duo began to remove his clothing. When he finished, he was wearing a white, one-piece jumpsuit. He sat on the floor and assumed an odd position. Image from YouTube. The second part of the duo dramatically carried a dog head across the stage. He dropped it rather forcefully over the head of his seated partner. The reaction was immediate, with the partner springing into a crab-walk pose and becoming a white dog. Image from YouTube. The rest of the act was just as dramatic as the Schumacher duo graced the AGT stage with impressions of a zebra and a unicorn. The Schumacher Duo’s AGT Grand Finale Was Eye-Popping After popping a balloon with the point of the unicorn’s horn, the duo pulled out all the stops. Both men undressed, revealing spotted full-body suits. Assuming the now-familiar crab-walk pose, the first member of the duo waits patiently. The audience has no clue what is coming. Image from YouTube. The audience was dumbfounded when the second man stepped over and mounted the first. All minds went south, and we should probably be ashamed of ourselves! Image from YouTube. The innocent, albeit suggestive, maneuver soon became a giraffe. The shocked audience responded with a standing ovation as the Schumacher duo separated and turned to face the AGT judges. Simon Cowell turns to fellow judges and says, “That was funny!” He gave the duo a thumbs up and told them the act was genius. The duo joked that deciding who would be on top was the only hard part of developing the act. After telling the duo that she didn’t know what the act was and that it was silly nonsense, Sofía Vergara surprised everyone. She ended her brief speech with, “I really, really think you deserve this,” before smashing the golden buzzer. The Schumacher duo from Japan dropped to their knees on the AGT stage as golden confetti drifted down from above. The duo stood to greet Sofia, asking, “Is this a dream?” It is a dream come true for the comedy duo. You can find the source of this story’s featured image here.
