In London, House Republicans Get Firsthand Look at How Trump Is Shaking Up Europe

Though it’s been just a month since his return to the White House, President Donald Trump is making his presence felt at home and abroad, from the Department of Government Efficiency to tariffs to setting the stage to negotiate the end of the Russia-Ukraine war.  Republican Reps. Ralph Norman of South Carolina, Eric Burlison of Missouri, Harriet Hageman of Wyoming, Andy Harris of Maryland, and others experienced just how Trump is shaking things up across Europe as they attended the Alliance for Responsible Citizenship conference in London this week. The Daily Signal accompanied them as they engaged with European leaders and citizens. “What’s loud and clear to me is that Europeans aren’t happy,” Norman said. “The people aren’t happy; the leaders are.” “It’s like the United States: The people were not happy with Joe Biden and his policies. In England, the people are not happy with what’s going on with their leaders, with regulations, the price of living, and they’re willing to do something about it.” Last week, Vice President JD Vance delivered remarks at an AI summit in Paris and the Munich Security conference in Germany. Vance took European nations to task for their regulatory environment on matters ranging from energy to speech to artificial intelligence, and he reasserted America’s national interests in U.S. foreign policy.  Energy Secretary Chris Wright had his turn to address a European crowd when he virtually joined the ARC conference and lambasted Europe’s energy policies. “Energy realism is critical if you want to have humanism,” he said, specifically addressing Vance’s critique of European energy policy.  Wright said what’s happening in Europe now is “lunacy.” “This is impoverishing citizens for the delusion that this is somehow going to make the world a better place,” he said. Harris told The Daily Signal he was “not surprised at what happened at the Munich Security Conference.” “I mean, that’s the deep state of Europe,” he said. “The bottom line is there are people who don’t believe that Western civilization is something to be prized, treasured, and developed,” Harris said. “We have nothing to apologize for. We have the strongest economy. We have the strongest military. We’ve preserved freedom a couple of times in Europe, and we’re not going to stop doing that,” the Maryland lawmaker continued. In Europe, the Trump administration is making “a call for Western civilization to bring back the ideals of Western civilization and the success of Western civilization.” “I think that was brought out at the conference,” Harris said, “and that’s the message that Donald Trump brings—the end of wokeism, economic security, low energy prices, and a nationalistic pride that precedes economic success.” “Donald Trump is going to, once again, make the United States the leader of the free world,” he said. “In general, I think that it’s reminding Europe that it’s time to get serious again,” Burlison told The Daily Signal. “We need to get serious about our manufacturing. We need to get serious about energy production, and we need to get serious about the threats to national security.” Though many European elites in government have responded in dismay to the Trump administration’s message to Europe, the people the members of Congress met in London feel differently. Hageman told The Daily Signal that Vance and Wright took “absolutely the right tack” in engaging with European nations over the past week. “Energy security is national security,” the Wyoming congresswoman continued, “What you’re seeing of these European countries, and what the U.N. is demanding, is that we all live under energy poverty, and none of us believe in that. We believe in prosperity. I think that that’s exactly the message that Donald Trump and JD Vance are sending, and I think it’s what the European people want.” “The government and the leadership in Europe for so long has been focusing on ‘net zero’ and carbon and global warming, and all of this nonsense,” Hageman said. “It’s costing their citizenry dearly, and they’re tired of it.” For Hageman, the new sheriff in town is not only Trump, “the new sheriff in town is common sense, and getting back to what governments are supposed to be.” “The ones that I’ve spoken with are happy that Trump is rolling back regulations and calling Europe out for not [doing so],” said Norman. DOGE has been a buzzworthy topic in London as well. “With DOGE, Trump and [DOGE chief Elon] Musk are more than investigators. What have they done? They’ve just exposed where the money went.” Europeans are now starting to desire a thorough accounting of where their money has gone, Norman said. “We can’t continue [on] the same path that’s put us in debt,” Norman said of the reckless spending. “And I think many Europeans feel the same way. They wanted to take the same path Donald Trump is taking, and go a different way.” “We’ve wasted a lot of time and a lot of money on foolish things,” Burlison said of the West. “America, sadly, has led in some of these foolish wastes, like studying [critical race theory] and this woke ideology and climate. But I think that, given the problems that we’re facing today, Trump is kind of a wake-up call, and it’s kind of the sobering message that Europe and America really needed to hear.” With tariffs and charting a new path for foreign policy, “Trump is sending a message: Europe has got to defend itself,” Norman said. “Their percentage [of gross domestic product] that they spend is minuscule [compare with] what we spend, and we got a bigger GDP. He’s putting the pressure on them. They’re going to have to make the decision about how to keep their countries safe, and I think it’s long time in coming.” “You can tell, at least at this point, that they’re taking that seriously and kind of walking through what that would mean,” Burlison said of Trump’s policies. “So, I hope that England and the European countries that have been relying on America for so long recognize that America is taking things seriously, but we also need Europe to do so as well.” Because of her interactions in London, Hageman thinks Britons are “coming around to the Trumpian point of view,” because European leaders are not changing a failed course. “Instead of changing course, instead of fixing this mess they created, “ the Wyoming lawmaker said, European leaders “are telling all of you to shut up. That’s what’s happening in Europe, and that’s what JD Vance was calling out.” Almost more than on any other issue, European leaders “made bad policy decisions on migration.” “It has caused severe issues and problems within these communities throughout their countries, and their response isn’t to say we need to fix this. Their response is to say we’re going to make it illegal for you to point it out,” Hageman said. “I think that it is absolutely fair for JD Vance and all of us to stand up for our brethren, to stand up for our brothers and sisters in Europe and say we’re not going to allow you tyrants to get away with that.” Whether at home or abroad, she said, “We’re going to stand up for the citizens, and we’re going to fight to make sure that they have a voice.” The post In London, House Republicans Get Firsthand Look at How Trump Is Shaking Up Europe appeared first on The Daily Signal.

Hostin Insists Black Women Are a Superior Demographic, 'Voted to Save' America

On multiple days this week, staunchly racist Sunny Hostin put herself on a pedestal above all Americans and proclaimed to be part of the superior racial demographic: black woman. During the Tuesday and Wednesday episodes of ABC’s The View, Hostin repeatedly praised herself and other black woman for how they “voted to save the country” by supporting Vice President Kamala Harris’s backup bid for president. While co-host Joy Behar was falsely whining about Elon Musk personally going through her Social Security records and IRS filings, during Tuesday’s show, Hostin bloviated about how she was “resting” and letting others deal with politics since she and other black woman already tried to save the country: BEHAR: Why Musk is going into my Social Security and the IRS? Why is he doing that? Why is he doing that? Why is he firing people? HOSTIN: Well, people should be concerned about that but I kind of agree with James Carville because I'm part of the 92 percent of black women that voted to save the rest of the country. But the country wanted something else, and the country is getting something else! So, I'm resting. “It's not the whole country,” Behar noted. To which Hostin reiterated: “I’m resting.” During Wednesday’s episode, whiling taking over the moderation duties, Behar wanted to promote a far-left protest event which involved not spending money for a day. “It started in the black community actually because I've been not involved with it but gotten a lot of information on it,” Hostin boasted.     Being one that experiences chronic racial grievance, Hostin suggested that the event was something only black people could think of and organize: And let's face it, black people know how to organize outside of systems because we’ve been excluded form systems for so very long. And that’s why we were behind the Civil Rights movement. And when black people win and get rights like civil right, everybody does better and that's something that the Democrats can take a page out of the book for. She the parroted her self-aggrandizing claim that she and other black women were part of the superior demographic because of how they voted: But, you know, I'm starting to think as I've said before, I'm one of the 92 percent of black women that voted for Kamala Harris and so I'm sort of in a resting place right now because I voted to save the country and the country didn't vote with me. The majority of the country. “A lot of the country,” co-host Sara Haines noted. “A lot of the country but the majority didn't,” Hostin huffed. Hostin was obviously still bitter about losing the election and was still acting like a sore loser. It mirrored comments she made no long after President Trump’s victory in November, when Hostin put her racial martyr complex on full display. The transcript is below. (…) February 19, 2025 11:17:30 a.m. Eastern BEHAR: Sometimes you have to hit them in the economy, though. This is an interesting thing. There’s a movement right now on -- for the end of this month, for people to – don't spend any money at the – on one particular day, what day is it? SUNNY HOSTIN: February 28. [Applause] BEHAR: Yes. Because uh – We're not sure all this all started but that's one way for the average person – HOSTIN: It started in the black community actually because I've been not involved with it but gotten a lot of information on it. And let's face it, black people know how to organize outside of systems because we’ve been excluded form systems for so very long. And that’s why we were behind the Civil Rights movement. The majority of the country. SARA HAINES: A lot of the country. HOSTIN: A lot of the country but the majority didn't. So, I'm kind of in your phase that you described, the turtle phase, I think that the Republicans. BEHAR: Let them eat each other? HOSTIN: Yeah. I think the Republicans and the people that voted for Trump and now they also voted for co-president Musk, now they realize that the forest ranger just got fired. Somebody in the Foreign Service, you know, his wife couldn't get medevacked because they got fired, all the federal workers are getting fired. I think that they will turn on the Republican Party and they will come back to the Democratic Party! (…)

Elon’s baby-mama drama exposes the right’s pro-family hypocrisy

It’s only a matter of time before Elon Musk goes from the face of tech support to the poster boy for child support. The billionaire owner of X (formerly Twitter) is currently embroiled in some serious baby-mama drama with Ashley St. Clair, the conservative influencer who claims to be the mother of his 13th child. St. Clair caused quite a stir late last week when she used the social media platform owned by Musk to announce she had his baby five months ago. She claimed she went public because a reporter was planning to do so — against her wishes — and ended her statement by asking the media to honor her privacy. The New York Post published an exclusive interview the next day about her “whirlwind romance” with the billionaire. The belief that a man’s bank account can replace his presence in the home ignores a fundamental truth: Fatherhood is about more than money. The relationship between St. Clair and Musk is a private matter, but the response to her announcement from conservatives says a lot about the state of pro-family discourse on the right. Several congratulated St. Clair, 26, on her new baby. It’s easy to see why pro-life activists and influencers on the right would celebrate the birth of a new baby. Children are a blessing from God, regardless of the circumstances of their conception. Acknowledging that reality is important in a society that determines the worth of babies by how wanted they are by their mothers. If the mom-to-be is excited to be pregnant, the baby is a “bundle of joy.” But if she doesn’t want the child, then the same life at the same stage of development is called a “clump of cells” that can be destroyed at the nearest abortion clinic. No one disputes the inherent worth of every child. But when conservatives congratulate adults who intentionally create broken homes, they undermine their pro-family bona fides. It is difficult for an influential figure to publicly celebrate a child in this circumstance without appearing to endorse the parents’ decisions. Consider this: If a Republican politician known for his strong pro-life stance announced that he was expecting a baby with his mistress and planned to divorce his wife of 25 years, how would his conservative allies react? It’s unlikely they would take to social media to offer their blessings. The response to St. Clair highlights a stark contrast between what many conservatives claim to support — intact, two-parent families raising children — and the culture they reinforce through their public affirmations.Musk has had more than a dozen children with four women. He’s previously stated that “a collapsing birth rate is the biggest danger civilization faces by far.” He is a pro-natalist with the mindset of Malcolm X. He wants more babies to be born — by any means necessary. His views align closely with pro-life Christians, the most socially conservative faction of the Republican Party. But a pro-baby movement that ignores the benefits of a married mother and father is hardly “conservative.”Stripping marriage from the family formation equation paves the way for commercial surrogacy, unregulated IVF, and same-sex adoption. This shift has consequences.Today, 40% of American children are born to unmarried parents, and one in four grows up in a single-mother household. For years, conservatives have lamented the breakdown of the black family, where 70% of children are born out of wedlock. They have correctly linked this crisis to the cycle of multigenerational poverty that plagues many inner cities.Their analysis has never been limited to economic security. Every time a multimillionaire entertainer like Nick Cannon or an athlete like Cam Newton announces a new baby, social commentators predictably criticize their lack of commitment, the consequences of broken homes, and the argument that children need presence over presents.Yet, when the father in question is a billionaire with ties to the most beloved Republican president since Ronald Reagan, some right-wing commentators suddenly apply a different set of rules. One conservative commentator made his standard crystal clear:Pretending that what happens far too often in the black community — getting knocked up by brokeys and bringing into the world children that have to be raised on the taxpayer dime — is similar to procreating with a billionaire is intellectually dishonest.I responded online, pointing out that his argument only makes sense if a father’s primary role in the home is financial. This assumption has driven left-wing thinking for decades.Progressives often respond to discussions about family structure by calling for more social spending. To many liberals, a father in the home is nice to have but not necessary, as long as government programs support low-income single mothers.Apparently, some on the right share the left’s low view of men. Only partisan tribalism could justify the belief that a child is better off with a wealthy, conservative-friendly father who won’t acknowledge them, sees them sporadically, and refuses to commit to their mother.Children need more than financial support. They thrive with a father’s affection, protection, direction, and correction — things a man juggling a dozen children across multiple states cannot possibly provide consistently. The belief that a man’s bank account can replace his presence in the home ignores a fundamental truth: Fatherhood is about more than money.Marriage establishes the duties and obligations husbands and wives have toward each other — not just their financial responsibilities to a child. Men need women, women need men, and children need both parents. The best way to meet those needs is within a loving, low-conflict household where a married mother and father are committed to each other and their children.Despite what some conservatives may believe, a child raised in that environment is far more privileged than one with a wealthy but absent dad.

School district helped student declare herself homeless so she could move in with teacher later accused of 'grooming': Report

A school district in Colorado is accused of assisting an underage high school student to lie on a federal form to declare herself homeless so that she could move in with her female teacher, who later was accused of "grooming" the student, according to a report. What's more, the KCNC-TV report said counselors at the high school kept the parents of the 17-year-old girl in the dark about the situation involving Leann Kearney, now a former social studies teacher at Columbine High School in Littleton. 'Ms. Kearney takes interest in helping kids navigate their sexuality.' The girl — who reportedly was a straight-A student and captain of the swim team — allegedly developed an inappropriate relationship with Kearney as early as her sophomore year in 2018. The report said the Jefferson County School District assisted the girl with declaring herself homeless — even though she was living with her parents. The student allegedly told school administrators that she didn't feel as though her home was safe. High school counselors purposely kept the girl's parents in the dark about their daughter declaring herself homeless, according to school emails obtained by KCNC through an open records request. "There's this icky feeling that something is wrong, and as it progressed, it only got worse. Not a single person stood up and said something doesn't seem right and reached out to the parents," said Heather McCormick, a friend of the girl's mother. The mother of the girl only found out about her daughter declaring herself an "unaccompanied minor" after discovering paperwork under her daughter's bed. “If my friend hadn’t found the homeless paperwork under the bed, this would’ve remained sealed," McCormick said. The student requested that she be placed in Kearney's care, according to school district documents. The concerned mom continued to investigate why her daughter wanted to move out of her family's home and in with her teacher. Then the mother reportedly discovered that her daughter had exchanged approximately 20,000 text messages with her teacher. She also found a handwritten note from 2021 detailing her daughter "kissing" the teacher, according to the documents and a sheriff’s report, the New York Post said. 'While we have taken every step to remove this former employee ... and prevent her from working in another educational setting ... we recognize this is of little comfort to the family. ... We deeply regret how profoundly this violation has affected their family.' The teen's mother brought the phone records and the note to Scott Christy, principal of Columbine High School, who reportedly said he was "aware of the situation." The mother claimed that Christy dismissed her by saying, "Ms. Kearney takes interest in helping kids navigate their sexuality." The mom allegedly sent Kearney a message warning her to stop contacting her daughter, and the mother hounded the school district to take action against the teacher. Eventually, the school district launched an investigation into the allegations and then issued a statement at its conclusion: "Obviously, the student did not meet the criteria to be considered homeless, and the staff involved in this isolated incident were addressed as part of the investigation as the proper channels in place were not followed." The statement continued, "While we have taken every step to remove this former employee ... and prevent her from working in another educational setting ... we recognize this is of little comfort to the family. ... We deeply regret how profoundly this violation has affected their family." Kearney reportedly quit her teaching job two years after the accusations first surfaced, and the state eventually stripped Kearney of her education license. According to the Post, the revocation document described her behavior as "grooming." After the student turned 18 years old, she reportedly moved to Oregon with Kearney. KCNC in its news video showed a report from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office about the teacher's interactions with the student. The following is the sheriff's office's response Wednesday to Blaze News, which asked the agency why criminal action was not taken against the teacher. This case was assigned to an investigator and has been investigated to the extent possible without the permission or involvement of the juvenile (now an adult) involved in the matter. The case remains open, with the intent to investigate further if the potential victim decides to participate in the investigative process at any point in the future. At this time, we do not have sufficient evidence to pursue criminal charges in this case. Should new information become available, or the potential victim chooses to engage in the investigative process, we will reassess the situation accordingly. McCormick stated, "It's really scary to think there are schools and teachers and administrators that are working behind your back and not in the best interest of your child." The school district told KCNC that it now has policies in place that ensure this type of situation never happens again. When asked if the school district would have acted differently if Kearney were a male teacher, McCormick responded without hesitation: "Oh, absolutely." Like Blaze News? ‘Evil, demonic behavior’: Drag queen and trans worship at the Cathedral of Hope church

The Cathedral of Hope church in Dallas celebrated the "Art of Drag" during a service followed by a drag brunch — and in a show of bravery, BlazeTV host Sara Gonzales sacrificed her own sanity to attend and report on the event. The celebration was supposed to be an “act of defiance and in response to the numerous bills introduced in the Texas legislature attacking drag performers and transgender people.” “During the services, we will take a few moments to bless and affirm those who use drag as an art form and affirm our transgender siblings made in the image of God,” read a promotional message on the Cathedral of Hope’s website. “I did go, and I wish that I hadn’t,” Gonzales tells BlazeTV host Stu Burguiere on “Stu Does America,” before showing him the footage she captured during the event. In one scene, drag performers — and an adult on his hands and knees in a furry costume — lined up at the front of the church to applause from those in the pews. “That’s not an actual dog,” Stu says, but “a human being who’s crawling on all fours in front of a church. This is really what’s happening.” “That actually happened at a church this weekend. Again, it was all drag performers. People dressed as women that were men, I guess vice versa as well, and at least one person who is being led on a leash,” he continues. “I laugh so I don’t cry,” Gonzales chimes in. “I’m the one who has to go document these events. It really is startling to be there in what they call a house of God.” “They’ve got all these big, beautiful crosses everywhere, and to watch this evil, demonic behavior taking place with crosses all around, symbols of God all around, is the most unsettling thing,” she continues. “I mean, it’s bad when it's with kids, right? But this one being in a house of God, they say, you just feel it in your gut.” Want more from Sara Gonzales? To enjoy more of Sara's no-holds-barred take to news and culture, subscribe to BlazeTV — the largest multi-platform network of voices who love America, defend the Constitution, and live the American dream.
