Eighteen members of a motorcycle club, including 16 Missouri men, were indicted in federal court this week in connection with a series of armed assaults on members of rival organizations. The men were all identified as members of the Pagan’s Motorcycle Club, which is classified by the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives as an outlaw motorcycle group. Rival organizations to the Missouri branch of the group include infamous biker group Hell’s Angels, along with the Outlaws, El Forastero, Galloping Goose, Sons of Silence and and Bandidos biker groups. Attendees at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago will be offered free abortions and vasectomies. Planned Parenthood Great Rivers, which is based in Missouri and parts of Illinois, will send a mobile abortion clinic near the venue where the DNC will take place. The New York Times reported medication abortions will take place both days of the convention, and vasectomies will only be offered on Monday. Planned Parenthood Great Rivers, which serves most of Missouri and part of southern Illinois, is sending a mobile health center to the Windy City’s West Loop to offer the reproductive services on Monday and Tuesday. Medication abortions are reportedly available on both days, with vasectomies being exclusively offered Monday, according to The New York Times. They will also have the option of getting a free vasectomy or a medication abortion just blocks away. A mobile health center run by Planned Parenthood Great Rivers, which serves much of Missouri and part of southern Illinois, plans to park itself near the convention and offer those services early next week to anybody who makes an appointment, delegate or not. (There is so much interest in the vasectomy appointments, I’m told, there is already a waiting list.) It’s a way of showcasing how reproductive health care providers have had to get creative when operating in or near states like Missouri, which borders Illinois and has a near-total abortion ban.

CBP suffered its worst year in 2022, when 15 employees took their own life, Corso, who left the agency in May, said. There are 60,000 CBP employees, including around 19,000 Border Patrol agents.

This morning, a shooting was reported at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland. Security guards were shot at, not once, but twice. The first shots rang out around 2:15 AM. Then, again, just before 5 AM, a car stopped outside the gate of the military base and shot at the security guards. Security exchanged fire with the shooters. Multiple shooters were reported from the vehicle, but it is unclear how many, and there were no injuries. The second ambush sparked a brief gun battle. No injuries were reported. The first attack occurred around 2:15 a.m., when Air Force Security Forces personnel at the entrance gate of the Chapman Training Annex on the Southwest Side heard gunshots and the sound of bullets whistling past them, the San Antonio Police Department said. The guards called for back-up, and shortly before 5 a.m., a sedan stopped just east of the gate at Ray Ellison Boulevard and Medina Base Road. “For a second time, shots were fired at the Air Force Security personnel,” said Sgt. Washington Moscoso, an SAPD spokesman. This time, the Air Force guards returned fire at the sedan with their service weapons, typically 9mm handguns. No one was injured in the exchange of gunfire, said JBSA spokeswoman Stefanie Antosh. It wasn’t known how many rounds were fired. Antosh said there was more than one shooter in the sedan but the exact number was unknown, as was the attackers’ motive. No details of the car’s make, model or color were released. AP confirmed: U.S. Air Force security guards exchanged gunfire with someone who opened fire at an entrance to Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland early Saturday, according to a spokesperson for the base. No injuries were reported after the guards returned fire at a passing vehicle at a base entrance around 4:30 a.m., public affairs chief Stefanie Antosh told the San Antonio Express-News. It was not known how many rounds were fired, how many shooters there were, or what their motive was, Antosh said. “We don’t know what, if anything, started it,” Antosh said. “But it wasn’t an active threat to the installation, and there is no active threat to the installation.” Antosh did not immediately return messages from The Associated Press for more information. The entrance was closed for several hours after the shooting, but the base was not locked down, according to Antosh.

Congressman James Comer, chairman of the U.S. Oversight Committee, is leading an investigation into Walz’s position at a Chinese institution with deep devotion to the Communist party, alongside his travel sponsorships which are believed to have been aimed at planting anti-American sentiment in the minds of young people. The House Committee on Oversight and Accountability are investigating Walz’s connection with government officials in the Asian adversary nation over nearly four decades. In a letter to the FBI Friday, James Comer (R-Ky), chair of the committee, requested “documents and communications” related to the Minnesota governor’s connections with Chinese Communist Party officials and groups. “The CCP has sought to destroy the United States through coordinated influence and infiltration campaigns that target every aspect of American life, including our own elected officials,” said Comer in a press statement. “Americans should be deeply concerned that Governor Walz, Kamala Harris’s vice-presidential running mate, has a longstanding and cozy relationship with China.” The probe comes on the heels of a letter sent to the Pentagon Tuesday by Rep Jim Banks (R-In) demanding to know if Walz, a member of the Army National Guard during many of his China trips, had complied with security protocols for members of the military traveling to an “adversary nation.” “Any individual traveling dozens of times to an adversary nation in a personal capacity while having access to classified information poses an obvious security risk,” the Indiana Republican said. Walz, 60, first traveled to China in the spring of 1989 to teach high school, arriving when the People’s Liberation Army massacred pro-democracy demonstrations in Tiananmen Square. Newsweek added: House Republicans have announced an investigation into Minnesota Governor Tim Walz over what they say are his “connections” to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). After graduating from college in 1989, Walz, the running mate of Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris, spent about a year teaching high school in China as part of Harvard University’s WorldTeach program. While in college, he took classes in East Asia studies. Five years after teaching in China, Walz and his wife, teacher Gwen Walz, spent their honeymoon in China while simultaneously leading two high school tour groups. They later set up a company called Educational Travel Adventures, which organized annual student trips to China until 2003. While there does not appear to be any personal connection between Walz and the CCP, Republican Representative James Comer, who chairs the House Oversight Committee, said Friday he was opening an investigation into Walz’s “longstanding connections to Chinese Communist Party entities and officials,” a committee press release said. “Americans should be deeply concerned that Governor Walz, Kamala Harris’s vice-presidential running mate, has a longstanding and cozy relationship with China,” Comer said in the release. He continued: “Mr. Walz has visited China dozens of times, served as a fellow at a Chinese institution that maintains a devotion to the CCP, and spoke alongside the President of a Chinese organization the State Department exposed as a CCP effort to influence and co-opt local leaders.” Comer went on: “FBI briefers recently informed the Committee that the Bureau’s Foreign Influence Task Force investigates CCP activity that is similar to China’s engagement with Governor Walz. The American people deserve to fully understand how deep Governor Walz’s relationship with China goes.”
