Click to Skip Ahead Characteristics History Popularity Formal Recognition Fun Facts Do They Make a Good Pet? You can’t help but notice the Sphynx Cat. They are so different from what we may usually think about how these animals should look. While they appear hairless, they’re not. Their coats are more like a short and soft down. The breed standard allows all colors and patterns. Hence, we have the blue Sphynx Cat. This cat may be a solid color or other variations like tortoiseshell or tabby. Let’s learn a bit more about them down below. Breed Overview Height:6–9 inches Weight:7–14 pounds Lifespan:10–15 years Colors:Blue, cream, brown, black, white, gray Suitable for:Active families looking for a low-shedding cat Temperament:Loving, intelligent, affectionate, outgoing Other noticeable traits include the cat’s large ears and lemon-shaped eyes. Their skin has a wrinkled appearance, which makes them seem even more exotic. The breed is relatively new compared to others, such as the ancient Egyptian Mau. The blue Sphynx is an outgoing and vocal animal, and this kitty will thrive in an active household. Blue Sphynx Cat Characteristics The Earliest Records of the Blue Sphynx Cat in History Accounts of hairless cats have existed since the early 1800s. However, these weren’t the cats that we now know as the blue Sphynx. The breed’s history begins later in the 1960s in Ontario, Canada. A genetic mutation resulted in a hairless feline. Early enthusiasts soon discovered the inheritance pattern. Domestic cats have 38 chromosomes, one of which is the sex pair. The others determine different features of the animal. Each parent contributes one copy or allele to each gene. If the trait is dominant, only one of the two causes the characteristic to be present in the offspring. The shorthand is AA for two dominant alleles and Aa for one dominant and the other recessive. For a recessive trait to manifest, each parent must contribute the “a” version of the gene, making it aa. Hairlessness is an aa characteristic. Mendelian genetics tells us that 25% of the offspring would be AA. Another 50% would be Aa, with aa making up the last 25%. Since it’s dominant, 75% of the young would have hair. Only 25% of the kittens would be hairless. That’s the bottleneck that affected the proliferation of the blue Sphynx. Enthusiasts bred the hairless cats with other ones, including the Devon Rex. This breed has the dominant version of the hairless trait, and it took several generations to develop the Sphynx. Infertility is a problem that can occur with hairlessness, further complicating the breed’s start. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Kai (@kai_sphynx1) How the Blue Sphynx Cat Gained Popularity Cats differ from dogs by the many jobs the latter filled. Canines served functional roles at first before selective breeding, which led to diversification in the work the animals did and the conformation of desirable standards. You can probably guess the Sphynx became a sensation even in the days before social media and viral videos. The development of the breed was a joint effort between North American and European breeders. The goal was to build a diverse gene pool to reduce the chances of harmful hereditary and congenital conditions passing on to subsequent generations. That was imperative to earn formal recognition and to propel the popularity of the breed. Formal Recognition of the Blue Sphynx Cat The Cat Fanciers’ Association (CFA) and Fédération Internationale Féline (FIFe) formally recognized this breed in 2002. The International Cat Association (TICA) recognition came later in 2005. Formal recognition meant the creation of standards for the breed to give judges a framework for evaluating the cats in the show ring. The CFA faults cats that can’t be handled or have hair. The FIFe has specific color groups. TICA disqualifies aggressive animals and those that are too small. The Sphynx is a sleek yet muscular animal. The cat is also known for their engaging personality, which is written into the breed standard of all organizations. Image Credit: Tomas Salac, Shutterstock Top 3 Unique Facts About the Blue Sphynx Cat 1. The Blue Sphynx Cat Is Not Egyptian Although the animals look like their namesake, the original breeding stock is from Canada and Minnesota. 2. The Sphynx Is the CFA 10th Most Popular Breed Pet owners have fallen head over heels in love with the Sphynx. This honor isn’t a surprise to those who know this kitty. 3. Research Has Shown the Blue Sphynx Prefers the Company of People to Other Cats Personality has a genetic factor. Researchers found that the Sphynx wasn’t particularly sociable with other cats. Instead, they prefer to be with people. It’s one of the most endearing traits. Image Credit: Alla_Che, Shutterstock Does the Blue Sphynx Cat Make a Good Pet? The blue Sphynx is the epitome of a people-oriented cat. They love attention and will make an excellent choice for an individual or family who wants their kitty to be part of the household. We don’t recommend this breed for anyone who can’t give them the interaction they need. That’s true of any intelligent cat. They must have mental stimulation and enrichment for their well-being. The other consideration involves the Sphynx’s health. The animal has a heightened risk of cardiovascular disease. Therefore, you should only get a pet from a seller who conducts the recommended pre-breeding screening of their stock. DNA testing is available for some conditions. You must also monitor your pet’s heart health since problems can develop later in life. The blue Sphnyx is a playful and energetic feline. This kitty will welcome visitors, but they may also get into trouble if they’re bored. These animals are a commitment on several fronts. Understanding your responsibility is imperative with this cat or any pet. Conclusion The blue Sphnyx is a striking animal with a larger-than-life personality. These cats love people and want to be a part of the action. Pet owners must understand that this cat breaks the mold for what you may think of these felines. They are curious and intelligent, making mental stimulation vital for their overall well-being, but you will have a very fulfilling relationship with your kitty if you can provide it. FAIL: Maddow Tries To Make Fun of MMA, Botches Dunk On Trump

Seldom does a segment on cable television provide one with such glaring, blazing, in-your-face proof of the cloistered nature of our Regime Media, and of the obvious disconnect between them and the audience they purport to serve. MSNBC host Rachel Maddow aptly demonstrated that cloister during her opening monologue. Watch and try not to pass out from laughing as Maddow goes from botch to botch (click “expand” to view full transcript): MSNBC THE RACHEL MADDOW SHOW 6/24/24 9:00 PM RACHEL MADDOW: I'm going show you something, but I'm going to tell you what you're going to see in advance. I'm going to tell you in advance but, even so, I’m going to venture a guess that you knowing in advance what's coming; you having me tell you in advance what you’re about to see is not going to make it make any more sense. But let me just describe it ahead of time so you can get your head around it. Okay? It's going to start with, I think it's like a bracelet, a decorated bracelet hitting the floor. It's possible that it's like a mouth guard or something. But that's so gross, I don't even want to think about it. We're just going to call it a bracelet. A decorated bracelet hits the floor. Then there’s a guy with fake fire. And that guy then shows off that he's got teeth like this. Like the James bond villain, the giant guy who had the metal teeth. Grrr, his teeth like that. Then after we see the teeth like that, then next there’s a guy who breaks a window with his head, and then there is a guy who points. It goes on from there. But let's just -- that's enough. Let's just watch that part now, and then we'll do the next part. So start with the -- start with the bracelet thing. Watch this. (AFFLICTION PROMO PLAYS) MADDOW: (laughs) See, it's just like I said. Bracelet, fake fire, metal teeth, head through the window, and then the guy who points. Theoretically, grrr, it should help to know in advance what's coming in this sequence, but it doesn't help. It's still just as weird. But it keeps going. After the pointing guy, we then get a guy motioning like he is going cut himself in the neck. Then you get a guy who kicks the air. Then, inexplicably, you get the highlight. You get a guy with vampire teeth. And then the guy with the big fake vampire teeth punches the fake fire. Then two other guys do punchy things and then it gets really funny. I can't even describe it. There is an audio component, and then there is Donald Trump. So start it. Roll it from right where the guy just points. (AFFLICTION PROMO CONTINUES) MICHAEL BUFFER: Affliction Banned. July 19th, the Honda Center, Anaheim, California. Live on pay-per-view. DONALD TRUMP:  I will say these are tough looking guys. I asked one of them how long would I last? You know, I'm tough. We're all tough. And he looked at me like I was kidding. That wasn't even nice. But it's an honor to have you in Trump Tower. I think "Affliction" is going to do really well. MADDOW: (cackling)  I just want to say that we did not, like, edit this and cut in a different goofy voice where it was supposed to be a tough guy voice. Just- this is how it came out. Play the actual announcement part again. Just listen to the voice here. BUFFER:  Affliction Banned. July 19th, the Honda Center, Anaheim, California. Live on pay-per-view. MADDOW: (giggling) "Affliction Banned." They did not, apparently, spring for the expensive announcer guy. They just had the intern do it. Maddow referenced the defunct Affliction mixed martial arts promotion as a bank shot segue into Trump’s joke about having migrants fight it out, and into a broader segment on the upcoming presidential debate. That was the whole purpose of that production. Instead, we were all treated to the bigotry of the Acela Elite on naked display.  Surely there must have been one cosmopolitan Obama liberal who could at least translate to Maddow what she was watching so as not to make a total fool of herself. They can’t all be Pajama Boy, right? There had to have been someone on the Upper East Side that could intervene and explain this very basic presentation, no?  Alas, this does not seem to have been the case, which is how we end up watching the illustrious Rachel Maddow struggle to distinguish between a “decorated bracelet” and a mouthguard. Maddow is further unable to discern a decorated mouthguard, which leads her to conclude that professional fighters were going out there with teeth like classic Bond villain Jaws. Relax, Rachel. That's just Andrei Arlovski's mouthguard. He doesn't actually have serrated incisors.  Maddow further expressed mocking wonderment at fighters performing basic moves for A FIGHT PROMO, such as kicks and punches. Finally, and most brutally, she mocks legendary announcer Michael Buffer’s voiceover, by musing that Affliction was stuck with the intern after being unable to afford the “expensive announcer guy”.  I wonder how many man (or ungendered person) hours went into producing this wet fart of a segment wherein no one seems to know what they are talking about. In turn, Maddow was exposed as not knowing what she was talking about, even as she was trying to mock the things of which she spoke in furtherance of a cheap dunk on Donald Trump. These are the people that want to tell you who to vote for, how to live, and what to accept as reliable information- even as they show contempt for large swaths of the population.

ABC News Dares Not Speak The Ethnicity of Would-Be Central Park Rapist

What is it with ABC News personnel not being able to offer ethnic descriptors of suspected sexual predators on the loose? Once again, critical details are left out of a story- this time, as an attempted rapist is loose in New York’s Central Park. Watch the full report as aired on ABC World News Tonight:     ABC WORLD NEWS TONIGHT 6/24/24 6:38 PM DAVID MUIR: Here in New York City this evening, the NYPD late today on the urgent search right now for a suspect wanted for attempted sex assault in broad daylight in Central Park. Police say a 21-year-old woman was attacked while sunbathing. The victim fighting him off. ABC's Diane Macedo from Central Park tonight. DIANE MACEDO:  An urgent search is under way in New York's Central Park after police say a man tried to sexually assault a woman sunbathing in the middle of the day. The second brazen attack in a city park in two weeks. JOHN CHELL: We have a female, white, 21, who was sunbathing. She sees a male black coming towards her, exposing himself. She screams and gets up to run. He tackles her from behind. MACEDO: Police say the victim was able to fight the man off, who then ran away. Now, NYPD officers are scouring the park on foot, by bike, and by drone, with the victim riding in a patrol car to help the search. TARIK SHEPPARD: I can assure you. You see the massive response? We're going to keep Central Park safe and we're going to continue to be out here until we feel that this perpetrator is off the streets. MACEDO: The attack comes just days after a suspect was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in a Queens park after school, holding her and a friend at knife-point. And David, now the focus is on finding the suspect in this Central Park attack. Police describe him as being in his 30s, about six feet tall, medium build with curly hair, and they say he was wearing a light shirt and shorts. David? MUIR: Diane Macedo tonight. Thank you, Diane. As I mentioned, this isn’t the first time that ABC engages in this nonsense. When a sexual predator was loose in Arizona, ABC offered as little identifying information as possible about the alleged predator- even while he was still loose in the community. ZOHREEN SHAH: All of the victims describe the suspect as a man 30 to 40 years old, around six feet tall, with a medium heavy set build, and close cropped hair.  Pretty broad range of possibilities, which is not what you want during a manhunt. We later found out the suspect was likely Hispanic. In this case, the ethnic concealment is more ridiculous because the video package showed the NYPD Chief of Patrol clearly stating that the suspect is black- which could be useful when performing a search operation. But what does Diane Macedo offer up to close the report? MACEDO: Police describe him as being in his 30s, about six feet tall, medium build with curly hair, and they say he was wearing a light shirt and shorts. Again, that’s a pretty broad range of possibility without the ethnic identifying information. Is this curly hair blond? Red? Why not just repeat what the Chief of Patrol already said? I Instead, we see that the woke mind virus at ABC News defers to no one- not even to the potential next victim of a rapist loose in Central Park.

Roman sandal hobnails found in Bavaria

Yesterday it was Caligula, today it’s caligae! Archaeologists in Oberstimm, Upper Bavaria, have unearthed hobnails from the sole of a Roman sandal. The rare find was in disguise thanks to a thick coating of corrosion that made it look like two indeterminate lumps of bent metal. An X-ray at the laboratory of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation (BLfD) revealed that the corroded lumps were actually hobnails. The excavation explored the remains of the civilian settlement that grew around a Roman fort. The Oberstimm fort was built around 45-50 A.D. at the intersection of two major Roman roads running north-south from the Alps over the Danube and east-west from the Danube through the Celtic fortified settlement of Manching. It was garrisoned by both legionaries and auxiliary troops. A second phase of construction in the 80s A.D. enlarged the defensive perimeter and built permanent structure with stone foundations. The second stage fort would be garrisoned by a cavalry unit until troops were withdrawn in the 120s A.D. after the establishment of the northern Limes. The civilian settlement continued to exist after the fort was abandoned. “So-called caligae were mainly worn by Roman soldiers during the Roman imperial period. The find shows that the practices, ways of life and also the clothing that the Romans brought to Bavaria were adopted by the local people,” says Amira Adaileh, a consultant at the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation. Individual shoe nails are very often found at Roman sites – but they are only preserved in combination with the remains of the leather sole under special conditions. For example, the Oberstimmer sole comes from a well. Similar finds are therefore only known from a handful of sites in Bavaria and provide valuable insights into Roman everyday culture and craftsmanship.
