‘The View’ Host’s Husband Caught Up In RICO Lawsuit Alleging Medical Insurance Fraud

Emmanuel “Manny” Hostin, husband of ABC News personality Sunny Hostin, is one of 200 defendants who were named in a massive RICO case filed in New York City just before Christmas. According to an exclusive report published by The Daily Mail, Hostin and many others have been accused of taking “kickbacks” and submitting fraudulent bills to an insurance company that typically insures Uber and Lyft drivers and cab companies. The lawsuit, filed December 17, alleges that “Hostin knowingly provided fraudulent medical and other healthcare services including arthroscopic surgeries,” and then reportedly billed American Transit insurance “in exchange for kickbacks and/or other compensation which were disguised as dividends or other cash distributions.” Daniel Thwaites, an attorney representing Hostin, gave a statement to The Daily Mail, saying that his client “denies each and every allegation” and referring to the suit as a “blanket, scattershot, meritless lawsuit by a near-bankrupt insurance carrier.” Thwaites further alleged that the insurance company was intentionally “abusing the legal system” in an effort to “restrict health care benefits to its insureds and their passengers, and write off its proper obligations.” “It is meant to intimidate and harass doctors from collecting for care given to American Transit insureds and their passengers,” Thwaites added. “American Transit has rushed into the lawsuit without ever conducting an examination of Dr. Hostin or expressing any concerns to his lawyers.” JOIN THE MOVEMENT IN ’25 WITH 25% OFF DAILYWIRE+ ANNUAL MEMBERSHIPS WITH CODE DW25 Sunny Hostin, who regularly cohosts ABC’s midday talk show “The View,” also serves as a senior legal correspondent and analyst for the network. She is an attorney who previously worked as a federal prosecutor. The Media Research Center’s Nick Fondacaro posted a clip from “The View” in which Hostin references her husband’s work, including his alleged attempts to recover payment from health insurance companies by suing them. “[He] operates on someone even though they don’t have insurance and then has to sue health insurance companies to get paid for the work that he’s been trained his whole life to do,” says Hostin.

Canadian Politicians Are Not Happy With Trump Claiming They Will Be 51st State

President-elect Donald Trump infuriated America’s neighbor to the north this week by continuing to suggest that the weak country would become America’s 51st state. Trump said during a Tuesday press conference at Mar-a-Lago that the U.S. subsidized Canada to the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars per year and got very little in-exchange. “They don’t essentially have a military. They have a very small military,” he said. “They rely on our military. It’s all fine, but they got to pay for that. It’s very unfair.” He said that he was going to put “very serious tariffs” on Canada to level the playing field until Canada decides to give the U.S. better trade terms and stop the flow of drugs and illegal aliens pouring across America’s northern borders. Trump was then asked to respond to Canadian opposition leader Pierre Poilievre, leader of the Conservative Party, who posted on X: “Canada will never be the 51st state. Period.” “We are a great and independent country,” Poilievre claimed, adding that if he wins he will “put Canada First.” JOIN THE MOVEMENT IN ’25 WITH 25% OFF DAILYWIRE+ ANNUAL MEMBERSHIPS WITH CODE DW25 Trump responded to the remarks by saying: “Maybe he won’t win, but maybe he will. I don’t care.” “Listen, I don’t care what he says,” Trump said, adding that he would use “economic force” to annex or acquire Canada if that’s what he decides to do. Trump continued: We’re spending hundreds of billions a year to protect it. We’re spending hundreds of billions a year to take care of Canada. In trade deficits, we’re losing massive… We don’t need their cars. They make 20% of our cars. We don’t need that. I’d rather make them in Detroit. We don’t need the cars. We don’t need their lumber. We have massive fields of lumber. We don’t need their lumber. We have to unrestrict them because stupid people put restrictions on, but I can do that with an executive order. We don’t need anything they have. We don’t need their dairy products. We have more than they have. We don’t need anything, so why are we losing $200 billion a year and more to protect Canada? And I said that to Trudeau as I called him, Governor Trudeau. I said, ‘Listen, what would happen if we didn’t subsidize you?’ Because we give them a lot of money. We help them. As an example, we’re buying icebreakers and Canada wants to join us in the buying of icebreakers. I said, we don’t really want to have a partner in the buying of icebreakers. We don’t need a partner. Trump said that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau admitted that his country would “dissolve” if it wasn’t for U.S. assistance. Trudeau — who announced this week that he is resigning because he has become deeply unpopular and is on track to get blown out in this year’s elections — fired back on X, claiming that Canada would never become part of America. “There isn’t a snowball’s chance in hell that Canada would become part of the United States,” Trudeau said. “Workers and communities in both our countries benefit from being each other’s biggest trading and security partner.” Trudeau’s Liberal Party also published a graphic on X showing that Canada was not part of the U.S. For anyone who may be confused. pic.twitter.com/R0G1efkJUg — Liberal Party (@liberal_party) January 7, 2025

Poilievre Blasts Trudeau’s ‘Weak And Pathetic’ Response To ‘51st State’ Taunts

Poilievre Blasts Trudeau’s ‘Weak And Pathetic’ Response To ‘51st State’ Taunts

Canada’s Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre on Tuesday blasted Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s defense against President-elect Donald Trump’s taunts of Canada becoming the United States’ “51st State.” Trump has repeatedly hounded Trudeau even as the struggling prime minister’s popularity has plummeted in Canada. The president-elect’s taunts came after weeks of threatening Canada with 25% tariffs and a demand to secure its border and stop illegal immigration into the United States. Poilievre is the favorite to replace Trudeau as prime minister as soon as new parliamentary elections can be held. The Conservative Party leader in a statement Tuesday defended Canada against Trump’s calls to join the United States while simultaneously attacking Trudeau’s government and party for its feeble response. “Canada will never be the 51st state. Period,” Poilievre said in a post on X. “We are a great and independent country.” JOIN THE MOVEMENT IN ’25 WITH 25% OFF DAILYWIRE+ ANNUAL MEMBERSHIPS WITH CODE DW25 “We are the best friend to the U.S. We spent billions of dollars and hundreds of lives helping Americans retaliate against Al-Qaeda’s 9/11 attacks. We supply the U.S. with billions of dollars of high-quality and totally reliable energy well below market prices. We buy hundreds of billions of dollars of American goods,” he continued. “Our weak and pathetic NDP-Liberal government has failed to make these obvious points.” Poilievre summarized what his agenda would be as prime minister, promising to build up Canada’s military and strengthen its borders and immigration policies. He also promised to cut taxes and regulations and support economic development. “In other words, we will put Canada First,” Poilievre said. Canada will never be the 51st state. Period. We are a great and independent country. We are the best friend to the U.S. We spent billions of dollars and hundreds of lives helping Americans retaliate against Al-Qaeda’s 9/11 attacks. We supply the U.S. with billions of dollars of… — Pierre Poilievre (@PierrePoilievre) January 7, 2025 Hours before Poilievre’s post, Trudeau put out a short statement asserting that “There isn’t a snowball’s chance in hell that Canada would become part of the United States.” “Workers and communities in both our countries benefit from being each other’s biggest trading and security partner,” he added. Poilievre’s Conservative Party is overwhelmingly favored to win an outright majority in Canada’s parliament in the next election. The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) currently projects that the Conservative Party will win 227 of 338 total seats in the House of Commons. CBC projections show Conservatives with a 98% chance of winning a majority.
