Conservative Journalist Nick Sortor Arrested by Portland Police

Conservative journalist and X influencer Nick Sortor was mocked by Antifa anarcho-communists outside the ICE facility in Portland last night. He showed up outside the ICE facility to report on the chaos. He took down a burning US flag on a fence and stomped out the fire. Antifa had assaulted him at one point. What’s Going On With The Secret Service? Recent Mishaps Put Trump’s Protectors Under The Microscope

Last week, a Secret Service Uniformed Division officer allegedly fell asleep on duty while working at the United Nations General Assembly. The officer was also accused of leaving his gun unattended while taking a bathroom break, RealClearPolitics National Political Correspondent Susan Crabtree reported. The officer was relieved of his duties after top brass learned about the accusations. He was then placed on administrative leave as the Secret Service conducts a disciplinary review. A Secret Service spokesman confirmed to The Daily Wire that the Secret Service officer “was relieved of [his] operational duties immediately.” “The U.S. Secret Service is aware of a September 25 incident where a Uniformed Division officer working security near the United Nations General Assembly in New York City reportedly engaged in unprofessional behavior, including leaving a firearm unattended for a brief time in a secure zone before returning to the weapon,” the spokesman said, adding, “The Secret Service has strict professional standards that all employees are expected to meet, and individuals who are found to have violated these standards will face disciplinary action.” President Donald Trump spoke at the United Nations General Assembly just two days before the Secret Service incident. It’s unclear if that same officer was on duty the day Trump was present. Unfortunately, the apparent security lapse at the UN was not an isolated incident. Several troubling instances in recent weeks involving the Secret Service have raised questions about the Service’s readiness. In late August, a member of Trump’s golf club in Virginia made it past Secret Service screenings while carrying a gun. The member was never in the president’s vicinity, and later self-reported the gun to the Secret Service. But the incident served as yet another example of lapses in the agency tasked with protecting the most powerful man on earth. In July, a Secret Service agent attempted to sneak his wife aboard a transport plane that was accompanying Trump to Scotland. A USSS Dallas agent reportedly flew his wife, a member of the Air Force, to Maryland, and she received an official Secret Service briefing on the trip. The agent’s wife then rode a bus to the distinguished visitor lounge at Joint Base Andrews, where she was finally discovered and told to leave. Trump called the July incident a “weird deal,” adding, “Wouldn’t you think that might be a little dangerous?” In another recent incident, the Secret Service faced criticism after protesters with the far-Left activist group Code Pink disrupted a dinner Trump was having with members of his Cabinet at a restaurant in Washington, D.C., in early September. The protesters got close to the president and were shouting at him before the Secret Service finally escorted them out. Retired Secret Service agent Scott Bryan spoke to The Daily Wire about the latest Secret Service lapse. “Failures can’t happen, but they will happen, and the Service has to be ready for that reality,” Bryan said. “Built-in redundancy is a security measure. In protection, you can only mitigate risk — you can’t eliminate it. That means preparing in advance, having contingency plans, and working relentlessly to win.” Even before the lapses in the past three months, the Secret Service was facing an American public losing confidence in the agency’s abilities. The falling trust in the Secret Service began on July 13, 2024, when a man shot President Trump at a campaign rally from just 150 yards away, striking the president’s ear and missing what would have been a fatal headshot by centimeters. Just two months later, another man allegedly attempted to assassinate Trump and was able to camp out in the hedge near the fence line while the president was golfing at his club in West Palm Beach, Florida. Thankfully, a Secret Service agent spotted the suspect and fired at him before the suspect could fire at the president. The failures in Butler led to then-Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigning from her position on July 23, 2024, just one day after she faced intense grilling from lawmakers during a House Oversight and Accountability Committee hearing. After Trump was sworn in earlier this year, he appointed Sean Curran to lead the Secret Service. Curran, a 24-year veteran of the agency, rushed on stage to protect Trump after he was fired upon in Butler. With political violence in America becoming more of a problem, especially after the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk last month, the need for tightened security has only increased. Bryan told The Daily Wire that the new leadership in the Secret Service needs to return to the high standards that it once demanded in hiring and training. Bryan said that recent lapses “aren’t just isolated mistakes,” adding, “They’re the byproduct of mediocrity becoming normalized in hiring, in leadership, in training, and in how assets are allocated. The only answer is to rebuild a flourishing culture that is grounded in mission, talent, and fair compensation.” “Because just throwing bodies at the problem won’t work. If you hire the wrong people, or hire too fast, you end up with incompetence and dissatisfaction,” he continued. “The Service has to build a flourishing culture — one that leverages the prestige of the mission itself, while making sure only people of outstanding character, courage, and mental toughness are brought on board. Once you get the right talent, you have to compensate them fairly.” Bryan added that the Secret Service needs to build a culture “that leverages the prestige of the mission itself, while making sure only people of outstanding character, courage, and mental toughness are brought on board. Once you get the right talent, you have to compensate them fairly.”

Apple Pulls ICE Tracking Apps Amid Widespread Attacks On Immigration Agents

Apple has pulled apps used to expose the whereabouts of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents across the country to help illegal immigrants avoid arrest, which critics say have helped attackers target the agents. The move comes after it was revealed that the anti-ICE shooter who opened fire on an agency facility in Dallas last month used the app before the attack. Two detainees were killed, while a third was injured as a result of the shooting. Such threats to law enforcement led Attorney General Pam Bondi to instruct officials at the Justice Department to pressure Apple to take the anti-ICE app down, Fox News Digital reported. May James/SOPA Images/LightRocket via Getty Images “We reached out to Apple today demanding they remove the ICEBlock app from their App Store — and Apple did so,” Bondi told the outlet. “ICEBlock is designed to put ICE agents at risk just for doing their jobs, and violence against law enforcement is an intolerable red line that cannot be crossed. This Department of Justice will continue making every effort to protect our brave federal law enforcement officers, who risk their lives every day to keep Americans safe,” she said. Following the recent Dallas attack, Marcos Charles, ICE’s Acting Executive Associate Director of Enforcement and Removal Operations, called out the anti-ICE apps for serving as a “casting call to invite bad actors to attack law enforcement officers.” “It’s no different than giving the hit man the location of their intended target, and this is exactly what we saw happen in Dallas yesterday,” Charles said during a press conference last month. Some mainstream media outlets have amplified the apps despite receiving warnings that “it would only lead to more attacks on law enforcement,” said Charles. “We truly wish we didn’t have to say we told you so, but here we are,” he said. House/Getty Images) Apple confirmed it took ICEBlock and “similar apps” down from its app store in a statement to Fox News Digital. “We created the App Store to be a safe and trusted place to discover apps. Based on information we’ve received from law enforcement about the safety risks associated with ICEBlock, we have removed it and similar apps from the App Store,” Apple said. ICEBlock creator Joshua Aaron said he was “incredibly disappointed by Apple’s actions today.” “Capitulating to an authoritarian regime is never the right move,” Aaron said. “Apple has claimed they received information from law enforcement that ICEBlock served to harm law enforcement officers. This is patently false.” The anti-ICE app still functions for users who already downloaded it before its takedown from the store. ICEBlock first came under scrutiny in June after CNN promoted the app on air. ICE officials slammed the network for promoting the app, arguing that it would put ICE agents in danger. “CNN’s promotion of an ‘ICE spotting’ app is reckless and irresponsible,” ICE Acting Director Todd Lyons said at the time. “Advertising an app that basically paints a target on federal law enforcement officers’ backs is sickening.” “CNN is willfully endangering the lives of officers who put their lives on the line every day and enabling dangerous criminal aliens to evade U.S. law,” he added. “It’s only a matter of time before ICE officers are going to be ambushed by some nut, like what happened in L.A., throwing a Molotov cocktail, throwing bricks at these officers,” White House Border Czar Tom Homan said at the time. “This is just disgusting at every level, so I hope DOJ dives in this deeply, because ICE is concentrating on public safety threats and national security threats.”

Newsom Goes Nuclear: Threatens Colleges That Back Trump’s Education Agenda

California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom has gone DEFCON-1 on President Trump’s new education agenda — threatening to yank billions in state funding from any California university that dares join Trump’s sweeping “Compact for Academic Excellence in Higher Education.” Trump’s 10-page declaration demands universities ditch DEI ideology, stop using race and gender-conscious admission standards, freeze tuition hikes, cap international student enrollment, and enforce free speech protections for conservative students. The compact calls for ending race-based hiring, restoring standardized tests like the SAT, and banning the use of endowment money for political causes. The Trump administration sent the compact to nine elite universities this week — including the University of Southern California, the only school in California on the list. Those universities that agreed would get preferential access to massive federal grants, increased overhead payments, and priority in civil rights investigations. Get 40% off new DailyWire+ annual memberships with code FALL40 at checkout Newsom responded in all-caps rage, appearing to mock Trump’s social media style: “IF ANY CALIFORNIA UNIVERSITY SIGNS THIS RADICAL AGREEMENT, THEY’LL LOSE BILLIONS IN STATE FUNDING — INCLUDING CAL GRANTS — INSTANTLY. CALIFORNIA WILL NOT BANKROLL SCHOOLS THAT SELL OUT THEIR STUDENTS, PROFESSORS, RESEARCHERS, AND SURRENDER ACADEMIC FREEDOM.” USC — a private university — received $28.4 million in Cal Grants last year alone. Statewide, private institutions hauled in $227.6 million. Public colleges, such as the University of California and California State University systems, raked in a whopping $2.2 billion from Cal Grants in the most recent budget year. Newsom is threatening to axe it all. The legacy media is clutching pearls over the compact, warning that Trump is “politicizing” higher ed. But White House adviser May Mailman stated, “Our hope is that a lot of schools see that this is highly reasonable.” Meanwhile, the usual suspects are losing their minds. Ted Mitchell of the American Council on Education called the proposal a “Faustian bargain.” Larry Summers — Obama’s former Treasury Secretary — said it’s like “fixing a watch with a hammer.” The compact also explicitly defends women’s sports by requiring colleges to recognize biological sex in athletics and protect fairness in competition — a direct rebuke to Newsom’s radical gender policies. White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson fired back at Newsom’s tantrum, saying, “Gavin Newscum should worry about the disaster he’s created in his own state.” She added that opposing the compact means opposing “efforts to cap wild tuition hikes and protect free speech.”
