ICYMI: Fox’s Doocy, Lawrence Go Hard in the Paint on Bidenomics; ABC, NBC Press on Hunter

The liberal media can spin Wednesday’s inflation report however they want (and they have in some wild cases), but nothing changes the underlining facts how Americans continue to struggle. Even though one AP reporter eagerly wondered if “the inflation problem is solved”, Fox’s duo of Peter Doocy and Edward Lawrence showed up at that day’s White House press briefing to give both Karine Jean-Pierre and Council of Economic Advisers Chair Jared Bernstein hardballs. And, as we saw with reporters from ABC and NBC, the liberal media can finally speak the truth about Hunter Biden’s life of ruin and the legal peril he faces now that his father Joe Biden is no longer running for reelection. Later during Bernstein’s Q&A and minutes after a long-winded answer to CBS’s Weijia Jiang arguing President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have been hard at work on prices (even though they’ve had almost four years to address it), Lawrence wondered why should anyone trust Biden and Harris to finish that job. To his credit, Lawrence interjected when Bernstein held up airfare of all things as proof of prices in some places coming down: FBN’s @EdwardLawrence: “So, you said we hear you, but, you know, we've been hearing that message in some form over the past three years, and the fact is the prices are not coming down, they're going up. Debt is also rising, that's going up, so why should Americans believe the… pic.twitter.com/BirqRkKF19 — Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) August 14, 2024 Lawrence followed up: “But still, energy prices too. I mean, from when the day President Biden came into office to today, the stuff that people need is up[.]” Incredibly, Bernstein acknowledged gas is more expensive now than when Biden took office, but more or less told Americans to accept it because certain things “go up over time” and Biden’s been “taking action” to address the discomfort. Lawrence dropped one more truth bomb: “[B]ut the President’s been in office 42 months and I know this is — I mean, the President has been in office — 42 months — wages are down 1.3 percent from the month President Biden got into office.” In response, he lectured Lawrence and other reporters to “do me a favor whenever you’re writing about prices” and dismiss the prices concern because of “a real spike in wages” and increase in “disposable personal income”. Doocy spoke to Jean-Pierre about the economy through the lens of Harris’s campaign and Axios reporting she plans to separate herself from the administration bearing her name, specifically on Bidenomics: DOOCY TIME: “When did you guys learn that Vice President Harris wants to distance herself from Bidenomics?” KJP: “Why do you think that?” Doocy: “Axios is now reporting that she is 'hoping to distance herself from President Biden's unpopularity on the economy.' Can you blame… pic.twitter.com/j3R954IRkT — Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) August 14, 2024 Doocy then twice tried to have Jean-Pierre admit that, in his words, “if Bidenomics was more popular, President Biden would still be the candidate.” Of course, she wouldn’t bite and instead invoked “MAGAnomics” and the false claims about “want[ing]” the country to suffer “supercharged inflation” and have increase “taxes on the middle class” and “cut Social Security”. Doocy closed with the press access issue to Harris: “The Vice President's team is not holding any press briefings. You are left to answer everything for her, even though you are not the Vice President's press secretary. Is that getting old?” As someone clearly checked out, Jean-Pierre insisted she speaks “for the Biden-Harris administration” and it’s been an “honor and privilege to stand before you to be able to do that job, and I will do it as long as — as long as I can — right — to the end of this term”. Shifting to Hunter Biden, ABC’s Selina Wang pressed Jean-Pierre on The New York Times’s reporting about Hunter and the U.S. Embassy in Italy: ABC’s @SelinaWangTV: “The New York Times is reporting that Hunter Biden sought help from a U.S. ambassador on behalf of Burisma while he was on the company's board and while Biden was vice president. So what's Biden's reaction to this, and is he concerned about what this looks… pic.twitter.com/hmLmi3qo88 — Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) August 14, 2024 And, in a key exchange to bookmark for if Harris wins in November, Wang wondered whether Harris would pardon Hunter. Of course, Jean-Pierre stammered and stumbled her way through to argue she only “speak[s] for the President” on that. NBC’s Kelly O’Donnell also brought the hammer down on the Hunter Biden developments, including the all-too-convenient decision by the Biden State Department to comply with requests for documents relating to communications with Hunter now that Joe is out the presidential race NBC’s Kelly O’Donnell: “The Hunter Biden documents — seeking State Department help came out after the President was no longer a candidate. Is the President bothered by that at all?” KJP: “Uh — I — look, what I can say is — um — uh — what I've said before — uh — he's not — he was… pic.twitter.com/EcsZ4aYok1 — Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) August 14, 2024 This continued with not one, but two follow-ups (click “expand”): O’DONNELL: Now that he is aware, is he satisfied with how his son conducted himself in seeking help from the State Department? JEAN-PIERRE: I mean, look, I — I can't speak to this. This is something that is an ongoing process. I got to let Biden — who's a private citizen — Hunter Biden, who's a private citizen, speak to this. What I can say is the President's never been in business with his son. He was not aware of this, and this is something for Hunter Biden to. O’DONNELL: Should the documents have come out more quickly, though, given that it's been years of litigation? JEAN-PIERRE: I — I really can't speak to timeline. The process here is not something that I can speak to from the podium. To see the relevant transcript from the August 14 briefing (including CBS’s Weijia Jiang wondering if Biden truly believes internet influencers are “nonpartisan” and CNN’s M.J. Lee asking Bernstein about comments Biden made demanding the liberal media speak more positively about the economy), click here.

Reid: Christians For Harris Are Akin To Those Who 'Led The Civil Rights Movement'

MSNBC’s Joy Reid is terrified of religion intersecting with politics and is constantly worrying on The ReidOut about the threat of “Christian Nationalism.” On Wednesday, though, she found an exception for Kamala Harris supporters who mix religion and politics because they are like the “Christian pastors who led the civil rights movement.” Reid made the literally unbelievable claim that “Evangelical Christians for Kamala Harris was not on anyone's bingo card for 2024. Because most people assume Evangelical is synonymous with conservative. It's not.”     In 2024, every group is for everyone. There’s probably a Chefs for Harris out there somewhere with a Chefs for Trump counterpart. Still, Reid continued, “There are plenty of Evangelicals who reject the mean, selfish version of the religion that follow Jesus the Christ. We call them Red Letter Christians, think Bishop William Barber, friend of the show, who is, wait for it, an evangelical Christian.” Barber rejects meanness so much, he once suggested on MSNBC that praying for Donald Trump is heretical. Barber and Reid have also teamed up to attack Rep. Steve Scalise for not being a liberal less than a week after he was nearly assassinated. He has also smeared Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis as being like segregationist George Wallace. As for Reid, she continued, “Think of the Christian pastors who led the civil rights movement, think Rev. Sharpton. Not all Christians are the Evangelical white dudes with main character energy from The Handmaid’s Tale, but this most surprising election does keep delivering surprises. Even some white Evangelical Protestants are fed up with Trump. That is a group that gave him 84 percent of their national vote in 2020.” If the idea that Christians who oppose baby murder under the guise of “choice” are the bad guys wasn’t outrageous enough, it was about to get much worse. Reid then claimed that progressives voting for the Democratic presidential candidate is a sign of “divine intervention,” claiming, “They're not alone in tiring of his act. A separate group, Christians for Kamala, had a Zoom meeting that included leaders from several progressive groups urging supporters to get behind Harris and Walz. Call it divine intervention, or perhaps lots of Christians are just getting fed up with being associated with the hateful vision of Donald Trump.” By “hateful vision,” Reid doesn’t just mean Donald Trump the person; she means opposing abortion and gender ideology. She likes liberal Christianity because it is liberal. Here is a transcript for the August 14 show: MSNBC The ReidOut 8/14/2024 7:02 PM ET JOY REID: Evangelical Christians for Kamala Harris was not on anyone's bingo card for 2024. Because most people assume Evangelical is synonymous with conservative. It's not. There are plenty of Evangelicals who reject the mean, selfish version of the religion that follow Jesus the Christ. We call them Red Letter Christians, think Bishop William Barber, friend of the show, who is, wait for it, an evangelical Christian.  Think of the Christian pastors who led the civil rights movement, think Rev. Sharpton. Not all Christians are the Evangelical white dudes with main character energy from The Handmaid’s Tale, but this most surprising election does keep delivering surprises. Even some white Evangelical Protestants are fed up with Trump. That is a group that gave him 84 percent of their national vote in 2020.  They're not alone in tiring of his act. A separate group, Christians for Kamala, had a Zoom meeting that included leaders from several progressive groups urging supporters to get behind Harris and Walz. Call it divine intervention, or perhaps lots of Christians are just getting fed up with being associated with the hateful vision of Donald Trump.

NBC Decries Vance for Saying… Its Good for Kids to Know Their Grandparents?

The liberal media were so desperate to make the Democratic Party’s ‘J.D. Vance is weird’ narrative stick, that they’re now claiming it’s controversial for the Senator from Ohio, who was raised by his grandmother, to acknowledge the fact that [check’s notes] it’s a good thing for children to know and build a relationship with their grandparents. That was the claim made by NBC senior Capitol Hill correspondent Garrett Haake during Thursday’s edition of Today. Amid their reporting on the state of the 2024 presidential race, Haake announced that Vance was “once again in spotlight for his past comments about women.” As Haake made that pronouncement, the on-screen headline read: “growing backlash over Vance’s comments.” Given how the liberal media pounced on Vance’s “childless cat ladies” comment and the promise of “backlash”, one would think the comment would have to be something pretty divisive. Despite all that, Haake admitted that while appearing on The Portal podcast in 2020, Vance “discusse[d] the positive roles of grandparents in children's lives” and how it was “drawing new scrutiny.”   NBC throws shade at Vance for saying it's a good thing for children to know their grandparents. NBC warns he's "again in spotlight for his past comments about women," but admits Vance "discusses the positive roles of grandparents in children's lives" in the audio. pic.twitter.com/1tQ407FwuN — Nicholas Fondacaro (@NickFondacaro) August 15, 2024   The soundbite they cherry-picked wasn’t even controversial: VANCE: They spoil them, all the classic stuff that grandparents do to grandchild, but it makes him a much better human being to have exposure to his grandparents. And the evidence of this, on the way, is super clear. ERIC WEINSTEIN (host): That's the whole purpose of the postmenopausal female – VANCE: Yes. WEINSTEIN: - in theory. Let me ask you a question, not knowing the answer. VANCE: Please. WEINSTEIN: When your child was born, did your in-laws, and particularly your mother-in-law show up in some huge way? VANCE: She lived with us for a year. WEINSTEIN: Right. VANCE: So, you know – WEINSTEIN: I didn't know an answer for that, so that's a weird, unadvertised feature of marrying an India woman. VANCE (stuttering): Yeah, I – [Audio abruptly ends and newscasts cuts back to live] NBC showed neither the purported “backlash” nor “scrutiny” they claimed there was. It was such a non-story that both ABC and CBS’s morning newscasts didn’t think it was worth any air-time at all. In fact, this was another example of NBC betraying their façade of objective news organization and showing they were driving by the same radical left-wing politics of MSNBC. The supposed controversy was originally dug up by a progressive talk radio station out of Chicago, WCPT 820. “Through a progressive lens, our reporters and hosts shine a light on the issues most important to those who make up the diverse communities across the Midwest,” their website says. The story was then picked up by the likes of left-wing Salon and The Huffington Post. The Salon article tried to tar and feather Vance for something that didn’t even come out of his mouth. “In resurfaced clip, JD Vance co-signs idea that ‘postmenopausal females’ exist to help raise kids,” their stretch of a headline declared. Salon took issue with how Vance “seemingly endorsed the idea that ‘post-menopausal females’ exist to help parents raise children” and for “expressing his gratitude to his mother-in-law” for helping the family for a year after their first son was born. The transcript is below. Click "expand" to read: NBC’s Today August 15, 2024 7:09:55 a.m. Eastern (…) GARRETT HAAKE: Trump's running mate, J.D. MAGA to the moon: Trump and Musk pull ONE BILLION VIEWS in a free speech triumph over the MSM

The #TrumpOnX interview with Elon Musk was highly contested by the mainstream media, the White House, and the European Union. But that didn’t stop the pair from drawing in a staggering one billion views. The two-hour, unfiltered conversation gave former President Trump a platform to speak directly to the people about critical issues like immigration, inflation, and the assassination attempts against him. “They also discussed America having an Iron Dome,” Pat Gray of “Pat Gray Unleashed” notes, before playing a clip of the interview. “I think people underrate the risk of World War III, and it’s just, you know, when you’re looking at the risk of global thermonuclear warfare, it’s game over for humanity,” Musk said to Trump. “I think after the end of the Cold War people have become complacent.” “We’re going to have the best Iron Dome in the world, we need it, and we’re going to make it all in the United States. But we’re going to have protection, because it just takes one maniac to start something,” Trump responded. “I like that,” Gray comments, “and we should have secure borders again under Donald Trump.” As Musk and Trump went on about how to restore the economy, Kamala Harris has set plans in motion to destroy it. “Kamala Harris is talking about raising taxes on the upper 1% and restoring capital gains taxes to income tax levels,” Gray says, disgusted. “So the double tax at 15-20% isn’t high enough. Now, they want to raise it to 20, 25, 30, 35, 40%?” “Plus, they’re going to raise the corporate tax rate to 35%. They are just hell bent on destroying our economy,” he adds. Want more from Pat Gray?To enjoy more of Pat's biting analysis and signature wit as he restores common sense to a senseless world, subscribe to BlazeTV — the largest multi-platform network of voices who love America, defend the Constitution, and live the American dream.

UK men get over 2 years in jail for social media posts deemed 'racist' — apparently in wake of deadly child stabbings

A pair of men in the United Kingdom each were sentenced to over two years in jail for posting what officials deemed "racist messages" on social media, the Cheshire Constabulary said Tuesday.Officials said 36-year-old Christopher Taggart of Caesars Close, Runcorn, and 34-year-old Rhys McDonald of Oxford Road, Runcorn, appeared Tuesday at Chester Crown Court.'This should serve as a stark reminder against posting abusive messages online — we are all responsible for our actions, including what we post on social media.'Taggart was sentenced to 32 months — just four months shy of three years — and McDonald was sentenced to 28 months, officials said, adding that they both pleaded guilty to "publishing written material to stir up racial hatred." Officials also said Taggart pleaded guilty to possession of an offensive weapon in a private place.Cheshire Police on Aug. 5 became aware of "concerning messages that were openly available to view on Facebook" that Taggart and McDonald posted, officials said, adding that multiple posts contained "racial abuse" and encouraged people to "engage in racial hatred."Taggart posted messages between July 29 and Aug. 6; McDonald posted messages between July 29 and Aug. 5, officials said, adding that they were arrested Saturday. Officials added that officers found brass knuckles in Taggart’s home during a search.July 29 was the day of a deadly mass stabbing at a Taylor Swift-themed children's dance class in Southport. A 17-year-old male was accused of killing three and injuring numerous other victims in the attack. Pallbearers carry the coffin of 9-year-old Alice Da Silva Aguiar from St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Southport, Aug. 11, 2024, following a funeral service for her. Alice and Bebe King and Elsie Dot Stancombe were murdered during a July 29 knife attack at a Taylor Swift-themed dance party that also left another 10 people injured.Photo by ANNABEL LEE-ELLIS/AFP via Getty ImagesOfficials initially said there was no evidence that terrorism was a motive in the deadly knife attack, which angered many who accused the government of covering up evidence. Police identified suspect Axel Rudakubana and charged him with three counts of murder and 10 counts of attempted murder. Officials identified him as being from Cardiff but also noted that his parents are Rwandan.Unrest and violence erupted the day after the stabbings and have spread across the United Kingdom. Prime Minister Keir Starmer denounced the violence and blamed "far-right thuggery." Counter-demonstrators march against an anti-immigration protest in London, Aug. 7, 2024. Nightly riots erupted after three children were murdered in Southport on July 29.Photo by BENJAMIN CREMEL/AFP via Getty ImagesHowever, now-suspended U.K. Labour Party Councillor Ricky Jones reportedly was arrested last week on suspicion of encouraging murder of anti-immigration protesters after an outdoor speech in London in front of a rabid, far-left crowd during which he hollered, "They are disgusting, nasty fascists, and we need to cut all their throats and get rid of them all!" A video of the speech shows him sliding his finger across his neck as he spoke; he then led a “free, free Palestine!" chant.Radio host Glenn Beck, co-founder of Blaze Media, last week opined that "two-tier justice" — in which police more or less ignore Muslim immigrant crime but come down hard on non-Muslims — has been laid bare in the U.K. in the wake of the deadly knife attack. Also last week, Sir Mark Rowley, commissioner of London's Metropolitan Police, said "we will come after you" — even if you live in another country — if you post material online about the rioting in England that officials say incites racial hatred. Indeed, U.K. police last week said they arrested a 55-year-old woman in connection with an "inaccurate social media post" in regard to the "identity of the attacker in the Southport murders," the Cheshire Constabulary said in a separate report.Stephen Parkinson — director of public prosecutions of England and Wales — also said, "We do have dedicated police officers who are scouring social media. Their job is to look for this material, and then follow up with identification, arrests, and so forth."In regard to the two jailed men, Chief Superintendent Alison Ross said, “Since the start of the recent disorder in other areas of the UK, we have been clear that we will not tolerate this kind of behavior in Cheshire, including those who post racial abuse online. Much of the violent disorder which has taken place across the UK in recent weeks has been fueled by malicious communications online, something which Taggart and McDonald decided to take part in. But they were not able to hide behind their devices and online accounts — they were soon identified and are now being held accountable. This should serve as a stark reminder against posting abusive messages online — we are all responsible for our actions, including what we post on social media.”Anything else?A 32-year-old Romanian citizen with no fixed address was charged last week with attempted murder after an 11-year-old girl was repeatedly stabbed in London's Leicester Square. She survived but needed plastic surgery. Officials said the attack was not terror-related.Three males were arrested last week in connection with what Austrian officials said was a foiled terror plot targeting Taylor Swift concerts in Vienna — apparently fueled by radical Islam.Swift is expected to perform five concerts at London’s Wembley Stadium starting Thursday through Aug. 20 to close the European leg of her Eras Tour.Like Blaze News? Rep. Andy Ogles says FBI seized his cell phone amid campaign finance investigation

United States Rep. Andy Ogles (R-Tenn.) recently confirmed that the FBI executed a search warrant on his home in Maury County as a part of an ongoing investigation into Ogles' campaign finances. The search was conducted earlier this month after Ogles, with the endorsement of former President Donald Trump, beat Republican challenger Courtney Johnston in the District 5 U.S. House primary. The Department of Justice is prohibited from taking any investigative action against a political candidate within 60 days of an election, stated WTVF, which first reported the raid.'The FBI took possession of my cell phone.'The probe allegedly included a series of amended campaign financial reports in which Ogles admitted he did not personally loan his campaign $320,000, as he previously reported to the Federal Election Commission in 2022.Last week, Ogles issued a statement confirming the investigation, noting that the FBI seized his cell phone during the raid."It has been widely reported for months that my campaign made mistakes in our initial financial filings. We have worked diligently with attorneys and reporting experts to correct the errors and ensure compliance going forward," Ogles wrote in a post on X."It is my understanding that they are investigating the same well-known facts surrounding these filings," he added. "Last Friday, the FBI took possession of my cell phone."Ogles noted that he plans to "fully cooperate" with the investigation and the FEC."I am confident all involved will conclude that the reporting discrepancies were based on honest mistakes, and nothing more," he concluded. The FBI denied WTVF's request for comment, deferring to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Tennessee. A spokesperson for the office told the news outlet, "Pursuant to department policy, we have no comment."The Campaign Legal Center filed a complaint with the Office of Congressional Ethics earlier this year, requesting an investigation into Ogles for allegedly "violat[ing] financial disclosure requirements.""Specifically, Rep. Ogles' financial disclosure statements do not include the assets that he purportedly used to personally loan $320,000 to his campaign committee in April 2022. He also did not report a $700,000 line of credit that he apparently opened in September 2022, according to bank records," the nonprofit wrote. — (@) Blaze News reached out to Ogles' office for comment but did not receive a response in time for publication.Like Blaze News?
