The Islamic Republic of Iran, the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism, has reportedly hacked Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s campaign. Politico began receiving internal campaign documents from the campaign late last month from an anonymous AOL email account that used the name “Robert.” The emails contained internal communications from a top Trump campaign official that included research the campaign did on Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) and “potential vulnerabilities” that he may have. The research dossier was a preliminary version of the file that the campaign used to vet Vance, something that is standard practice in presidential campaigns. When the publication asked the anonymous account how they received the documents, they responded: “I suggest you don’t be curious about where I got them from. Any answer to this question, will compromise me and also legally restricts you from publishing them.” Microsoft published a report this week that confirmed that Iran was interfering in U.S. elections, particularly in swing states, through highly targeted activity online designed to sway voters in those states. Microsoft said that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), a designated terrorist organization, “sent a spear phishing email in June to a high-ranking official on a presidential campaign from the compromised email account of a former senior advisor.” The company did not identify which campaign had been targeted, but a top Trump Campaign official said Saturday that the campaign was hacked and said that Iran was to blame. WATCH THE TRAILER FOR ‘AM I RACIST?’ — A MATT WALSH COMEDY ON DEI “These documents were obtained illegally from foreign sources hostile to the United States, intended to interfere with the 2024 election and sow chaos throughout our Democratic process,” said Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung. “On Friday, a new report from Microsoft found that Iranian hackers broke into the account of a ‘high ranking official’ on the U.S. presidential campaign in June 2024, which coincides with the close timing of President Trump’s selection of a vice presidential nominee.” “The Iranians know that President Trump will stop their reign of terror just like he did in his first four years in the White House,” he added. Vance has also shown strength in describing what needs to be done to stop Iran’s reign of terror in the Middle East and around the world, telling Fox News last month: “A lot of people recognize that we need to do something with Iran—but not these weak little bombing runs. If you’re going to punch the Iranians, you punch them hard.” The hack lines up with other recent reports about how Iran is trying to meddle in the presidential race to stop Trump from winning. The Office of the Director of National Intelligence said late last month that Iran was working to damage the Trump Campaign. U.S. law enforcement has also been closely monitoring an attempt by Iran to assassinate the former president, CNN reported last month shortly after Trump survived being shot in an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania. Federal authorities announced this week that they have arrested Pakistan national Asif Raza Merchant, 46, in New York on July 12 for attempting to carry out a murder for hire scheme that allegedly targeted Trump. Merchant had deep connections to Iran and had recently visited the country for a couple weeks prior to coming to the U.S.

Well of course. So Vice President and Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris plucks a heretofore unknown Governor of Minnesota Tim Walz to be her running mate -- and the liberal media rallies. Some sample headlines: The florid New York Times:  Tim Walz Is the Veep’s Pick for Veep Many Democrats see Tim Walz as the hottest Minnesota export since Scotch tape. The Hill: LGBTQ rights groups celebrate Walz as Harris VP pick ABC News:  In Tim Walz, Harris tries to check all the boxes in a running mate: ANALYSIS Walz is like "Bernie Sanders in hunting gear," said one Republican.  The Iowa Capital Dispatch:  Iowa Democrats celebrate Harris’ running mate choice of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz Insider:  Taylor Swift fans are celebrating Kamala Harris' running mate, Tim Walz, as a certified 'Swiftie VP' And on and on goes the media celebration that a thorough-going progressive who can out-progressive Bernie Sanders is in line to be next-in-line if -- and only if -- Americans veer sharply left and elect Kamala Harris to the White House. The real issue now is whether American voters will awake and realize that the business of Walz being your grandfatherly old neighbor from the state of Minnesota nice is in fact a liberal media sales job that will, of necessity, spend its time hiding the basics of just how far left Walz actually is. Walz is now out there saying this: One person’s socialism is another person’s neighborliness. Really? Really?  Where in the liberal media is the challenge to this “wisdom” from, say, the famous economist Thomas Sowell, who says:  The strongest argument for socialism is that it sounds good. The strongest argument against socialism is that it doesn't work. But those who live by words will always have a soft spot in their hearts for socialism because it sounds so good. And Sowell also points out: Socialism in general has a record of failure so blatant that only an intellectual could ignore or evade it. Thomas Sowell may never have met Governor Tim Walz, but he knows the Walz type exactly. One would think that after a century plus of the dismal reality of socialism's failures that the media in 21st century America would understand exactly why it has repeatedly failed - and why Walz is a serious problem for American economic prosperity. But alas, no. In any event, it’s safe to say the lines of the 2024 presidential campaign have now been drawn in the media. There are two distinct sides. On the one side is conservative media - Fox, Newsmax, Internet sites like this one here at NewsBusters, and talk radio- national and local. On the other side are the “mainstream” pro-socialism outlets that would include the MSNBC’s and CNN’s of the world, plus the three broadcast networks, and the left’s favorite print journalists in places like The New York Times and Washington Post. From now until election day it may look like this election is between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. It isn’t. In fact, while the liberal media will try to pretend otherwise, this election is really about two very different systems of government: Trump’s free market capitalism versus the liberal media’s rallying for Harris’s decidedly anti-freedom socialism. Which her pick of the openly socialist Governor Tim Walz personifies. Right now, they're trying to run a race on personalities and tone...and refusing to grant interviews or press conferences. The campaign has to turn to policy differences, and how radical the Harris-Walz policies will be. Buckle in.
