Dancers Canceled in Seattle for Unsafe Triggering Flag Shirts

A patriotic‚ non-political dance troupe in Seattle was canceled from performing at a convention because a small number of people at the Hoe-down were offended by their flag-themed shirts. The shirts were tasteful and according to the flag code. Within an hour of them showing up‚ the complaint(s) came in. Speaker Johnson Gets 702 Passed Until 2026

As we reported earlier‚ Speaker Johnson helped pass warrantless FISA today. Its passed until 2026‚ when‚ hopefully‚ Donald Trump will be in office. Until then‚ the spying will continue. Its a kick-the-can down-the-road maneuver. Meanwhile‚ they can spy on candidate Trump again if they so choose. We are still waiting for the J6 tapes Johnson []The post Speaker Johnson Gets 702 Passed Until 2026 appeared first on www.independentsentinel.com.

Health Equity: Why Mass Generals DEI-Infused Policy Update Places Infants At Risk

Its never a good time to be a baby whos been exposed to drugs. But the brilliant antiracist minds at Mass General Brigham have somehow found a way to make that situation even more risky. Early this month‚ the Massachusetts healthcare network announced its latest gambit in the fight against racial disparity in medicine: no longer reporting instances of abuse in cases of fetal drug exposure. The rationale for this baffling new policy? The DEI-rich language of health equity. As per Mass Generals announcement‚ Black pregnant people are more likely to be drug tested and to be reported to child welfare systems than white pregnant people. The decision was further portrayed as the latest step in our efforts to address long-standing inequities in substance use disorder care. But will it?As the updated policy reads:First‚ the new policy requires written consent for toxicology testing of any pregnant individual or infant outside of emergent situations. At the same time‚ it limits toxicology testing to circumstances where results will change the medical management of the pregnant person or infant. The policy also notes that an abuse/neglect report to state child welfare agencies in Massachusetts and New Hampshire after delivery should be filed only if there is reasonable cause to believe that the infant is suffering or at imminent risk of suffering physical or emotional injury and that substance exposure alone‚ including treatment with methadone or buprenorphine for opioid use disorder‚ does not require a report of abuse or neglect in the absence of protective concerns for the infant.Under Brighams no-report policies‚ black babies exposed to drugs can be passed over for potentially life-saving care if their mothers refuse help. How is erecting new barriers to treatment for these children a step toward any serious concept of justice? As psychiatrist Sally Satel notes‚ the new policy would reduce not only the amount of reporting involved in the Boston system‚ but strip healthcare providers of the ability to meaningfully intervene in cases where a babys health appears compromised. This is hardly the first time Brighams chosen to mix racial politicking with its patient care. The Brigham and Womens Hospital‚ as part of its United Against Racism campaign‚ recently introduced a program where patient admissions to cardiac units would weigh the race of the patient‚ as a supposed righting of the scale against historic health disparities.Lets be clear here: these practices‚ while perhaps palatable to the modern advocates of equity‚ cannot be conscionable to modern advocates of justice. Brigham has made its stand: prioritizing marginalized patient populations in a bid to right historical wrongs. Yet the obvious problem remains: Such policies attempt to right historical wrongs by risking modern ones. The system may purport to advance health equity‚ but it runs a real risk of hurting innocent children. We must evaluate these systems based on what they do‚ not merely on what they purport to do. To do otherwise is to adopt an uncritical perspective on equity that cedes legitimacy to unserious and dangerous solutions. We are sometimes asked‚ in the name of charity and good faith‚ to pretend that arguments over DEI and equity-based policies are low-stakes questions. Were told that the real diversity argument is between validating the feelings and lived experience of people of color or propping up white supremacy with our complicit silence. Ive written at length about how this isnt the case‚ but the actions and results of the DEI movement speak far louder than its critics most pointed words. For a further example‚ lets take a closer look at Brighams cardiology policy. Brigham alerted physicians when a black or Latinx patient presented with heart failure to educate the clinician about the fact that‚ historically‚ this population has had inequitable access to specialized cardiology care and offer a recommendation to consider changing admission. Its not an override of a clinicians judgment or even a treatment prescription‚ meaning that its actually a relatively impotent policy in the aggregate. By any modern standard of DEI‚ it doesnt even qualify as intersectional. But thats actually the point the policies that work arent the ones being dreamed up for health equity brownie points.Intersectionality‚ particularly in medicine‚ only works at the most basic level: the differentiation of the individual patient. The only morally serious option is for healthcare providers to evaluate patients based on individual history and symptoms and avoid the kind of DEI-esque language of health equity that makes observers and patients alike start raising questions about what forces are actually driving the boat over at Mass General Brigham. That practical and rhetorical vision isnt what modern DEI proponents want you to sign up for. Accepting their view of equity‚ in this case‚ means systems that risk passing over treatment for innocent children. Is that equity? Its certainly not equality‚ its certainly not justice‚ and its not what anyone really wants for the future of American healthcare: we cant validate peoples lived experiences if they die as babies in a maternity ward.* * *Isaac Willour is an award-winning journalist focusing on race‚ culture‚ and American conservatism‚ as well as a corporate relations analyst at Bowyer Research. U.S. Senate Picks Up House Proposal To Cut Funding To All Medical Schools That Push DEI

Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) introduced the EDUCATE Act‚ a bill that would eliminate federal funding to medical schools that embed the diversity‚ equity‚ and inclusion (DEI) agenda into their admission or instruction policies‚ on Thursday.Called the Embracing anti-Discrimination‚ Unbiased Curricula‚ and Advancing Truth in Education (EDUCATE) Act‚ the Senate bill corresponds with legislation that was recently introduced in the House of Representatives by Rep. Greg Murphy (R-NC).Woke universities are forcing Americas future doctors to care more about race and gender than saving lives‚ Kennedy asserted. The EDUCATE Act would make sure taxpayer dollars dont fund medical schools that discriminate against talented students or peddle progressive nonsense at the expense of science.Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-MO) is co-leading the legislation alongside Kennedy. The medical field has traditionally been one driven by core tenants of merit‚ academic excellence‚ and superb scientific achievement‚ but that has not stopped the left from their malpractice of injecting DEI into every aspect of education in America‚ Schmitt noted. To cheapen medical schools with woke politics and DEI would be to put the lives of countless Americans in danger as students of extraordinary achievement and meticulous discipline in the field will be cast aside in the name of social justice and equity.Medical schools would not be eligible to receive federal funding under the bill if they direct‚ compel‚ or incentivize students to adopt or affirm various beliefs associated with DEI and Critical Race Theory (CRT)‚ including that the United States is structurally racist or that people can be lumped into oppressed and oppressor categories by virtue of their race‚ ethnicity‚ or sex.The bill would also eliminate federal funding for medical schools that deprive students of educational opportunities on the basis of their background by giving preferential treatment to students on the basis of race or by holding classes specifically for those of one racial background. Medical schools would also be ineligible for federal funding if they established or maintained DEI offices. The introduction of the bill in the Senate was praised by Rep. Murphy‚ who introduced corresponding legislation in the House of Representatives in March. Discriminatory DEI practices have rapidly permeated medical schools across the country at great harm to the field of medicine‚ Murphy asserted. Political ideology has no place in the classroom‚ especially when lives are on the line.CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APPI appreciate Senators Kennedy and Schmitt for recognizing the detrimental impact these initiatives will have on the future of American healthcare‚ Murphy went on to add.The legislation comes in the wake of a bombshell investigation into Duke Medical School by Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro‚ who found that the institution appeared to be discriminating against white men.Discrimination in medical schools has recently become a national conversation‚ with Elon Musk warning that lowered standards in the medical field in pursuit of equity would put peoples lives at risk.Elon Musk tries to explain how lowering the standards for doctors could result in more deaths. Don Lemon is unable to grasp the concept. This entire exchange is incredible. pic.twitter.com/QJ3efuvVAb End Wokeness (@EndWokeness) March 18‚ 2024Data from the Association of American Medical Colleges reveals that the average grades and test scores vary significantly by race‚ with whites and Asians needing to receive higher scores to be competitive in admissions than black or Hispanic applicants.

Delphi Murder Suspects Attorneys Dont Want Jailhouse Confessions Heard At Trial

Defense attorneys for the man accused of killing two Delphi‚ Indiana‚ teens in 2017 dont want the suspects jailhouse confessions to be heard at trial.Richard Allen‚ 50‚ has been charged with kidnapping and killing 13-year-old Abby Williams and 14-year-old Libby German‚ whose bodies were found off a hiking trail in Delphi‚ Indiana‚ back in 2017. His attorneys‚ Andrew Baldwin and Bradley Rozzi‚ asked Special Judge Fran Gull on Thursday to suppress statements Allen made in prison allegedly confessing to the crimes‚ WTHR reported. The attorneys alleged that Allen did not make the comments voluntarily and was mentally ill at the time. Rozzi said in a motion to suppress statements filed Thursday that prison officials put inmates at Allens cell door and had them keep logs of everything Allen said and did. Rozzi said that some of those inmates actively questioned Allen‚ which Rozzi said amounts to a sustained form of interrogation; one that lasted more than five months before he was finally broken.Rozzi argued in another filing that allowing those statements to be used in Allens trial would violate his constitutional rights‚ since he didnt have an attorney present when he made the comments.Further‚ Rozzi said Allen slipped into a state of psychosis plagued with grossly disorganized‚ delusional‚ paranoid and highly dysfunctional behavior‚ while he was in prison. This behavior included periods of not sleeping for days‚ paranoia‚ stripping off his clothes‚ drinking toilet water‚ covering himself with and eating his own feces‚ and many other socially unacceptable behaviors. The defense attorneys also argued that Allens alleged confessions dont even align with the evidence from the crime scene‚ meaning they cant be accurate. The prosecution in the case first mentioned the alleged confessions in June 2023‚ saying that Allen confessed five or six times while in prison.Prosecutor Nick McLeland stated in court at the time that Allen made multiple confessions to multiple people‚ Fox 59reported.CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APPRozzi acknowledged that Allen had made incriminating statements‚ but said those statements couldnt be trusted due to his clients deteriorating mental health.Allens trial is set to begin on May 13‚ following Judge Gulls refusal to dismiss the charges based on allegations from the defense team that police recorded over interviews with key witnesses.McLelandpushed backagainst the defenses claims‚ arguing that the interviews were not evidence at all related to this case.He acknowledged that the interviews‚ which were conducted just days after the bodies of Williams and German were found‚ had been inadvertently recorded over‚ but were not destroyed by the state purposefully or in bad faith. Prosecutorssaidthe interviews had been recorded over because of a DVR program error.Judge Fran Gull agreed with McLeland that charges against Allen shouldnt be dismissed based on the missing interviews‚ saying Baldwin and Rozzi didnt prove that the recordings were destroyed negligently‚ intentionally‚ or in bad faith‚ according to Fox 59.The recordings of interviews between February 14 -17‚ 2017‚ were lost due to human error or were spontaneously lost due to equipment resetting‚ Gull wrote in her ruling‚ according to the outlet.

J.K. Rowling Indicates She Wont Forgive Daniel Radcliffe‚ Emma Watson For Pro-Trans Statements

Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling indicated that she would not forgive the actors who starred in the film adaptations of her best-selling book series for their comments in favor of trans rights. The 58-year-old author has become an outspoken critic of the radical trans agenda‚ specifically as it relates to women being protected in society. Most recently‚ Rowling shared her concerns about the medical transitioning of children who believed they were transgender by posting a lengthy thread on X.One of Rowlings followers responded to the thread‚ writing‚ Just waiting for Dan and Emma to give you a very public apology safe in the knowledge that you will forgive them Rowling replied‚ Not safe‚ Im afraid. Celebs who cosied up to a movement intent on eroding womens hard-won rights and who used their platforms to cheer on the transitioning of minors can save their apologies for traumatised detransitioners and vulnerable women reliant on single sex spaces.Harry Potter stars Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson publicly denounced Rowlings views after several of her tweets went viral in 2020.Rowling also posted an essay to her website in June 2020‚ saying in part‚ I refuse to bow down to a movement that I believe is doing demonstrable harm in seeking to erode woman as a political and biological class and offering cover to predators like few before it.Around the same time as Rowlings comment‚ Watson‚ who played the character Hermione in the film franchise‚ posted on her own social media that Trans people are who they say they are and deserve to live their lives without being constantly questioned or told they arent who they say they are.CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APPI want my trans followers to know that I and so many other people around the world see you‚ respect you and love you for who you are‚ Watson added.Radcliffe expressed similar sentiments in 2020 after the comments went viral. Transgender women are women. Any statement to the contrary erases the identity and dignity of transgender people and goes against all advice given by professional healthcare associations who have far more expertise on this subject matter than either Jo [Rowling] or [me]‚ the actor said at the time in a lengthy essay. To all the people who now feel that their experience of the books has been tarnished or diminished‚ I am deeply sorry for the pain these comments have caused you. I really hope that you dont entirely lose what was valuable in these stories to you.Radcliffe specifically voiced his support for trans youth transitioning while moderating an episode of Sharing Spaces‚ a roundtable series produced by the activist organization The Trevor Project. There are some people in the world who are not trying to engage with this conversation in any kind of good faith. I think a lot of the time its just cause people dont know a young trans person‚ Radcliffe said‚ as The Daily Wire previously reported.

School Reportedly Denies 11-Year-Old Permission To Form Interfaith Prayer Group After It Okays LGBT Group

One week after her elementary school permitted an LGBT Pride club to be formed at the school‚ an eleven-year-old girl in Washington state says she was refused permission to start an interfaith prayer group.Laura‚ a student at Creekside Elementary School‚ told Fox News‚ I wanted to start it because I felt kind of alone in the classroom and really just at school. And I realized‚ I have some friends and I knew some other people that felt the same way‚ and so I talked to them and I was just like‚ You know what? It would be a great idea to make a club where people could come together and do good in the community. That was kind of the idea of my interfaith peer club.First Liberty Institute (L.A.W.)‚ which is representing Laura‚ reported that Laura and her mom met in February with the schools principal‚ Amy Allison‚ who informed them that all the funding for school clubs had been allocated in October‚ and Laura had missed the deadline‚ even though the Pride Club was formed one week before and the school allows a dozen other clubs‚ including the Green Team and the Toastmasters Club.In a follow-up meeting‚ the principal told L.A.W. that she could fill out an application to pay to use the school after hours. When L.A.W. asked why she would have to pay like an outside group when other student clubs dont have to pay‚ Principal Allison responded‚ I am sorry‚ [L.]‚ I just cant tell you what you want to hear‚ and we cant allow it‚ First Liberty added. The First Amendment is clear; the free speech clause and the free exercise clause both protect Lauras ability to pray‚ to speak about her faith; to gather with other religious students‚ said Kayla Toney‚ associate counsel at First Liberty Institute. The law is clear: if the school allows at least one non-curricular club‚ no matter what the club is about‚ it has to allow a religious club. Its actually viewpoint discrimination to deny a religious club just because its religious.Denying the formation of a religious student club while allowing other clubs violates the Constitution‚ Toney contended. School officials at Creekside Elementary are engaged in religious discrimination against an eleven-year-old girl who simply wants to pray‚ feel support from other religious friends‚ and do community service.CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APPI think that this is something that I am very passionate about. I wouldnt be here if I didnt really want to make this happen‚ if I didnt think that it would be a great opportunity for everyone‚ Laura concluded.

Harvard Reverses Course‚ Will Require Standardized Testing Again

Harvard Reverses Course‚ Will Require Standardized Testing Again

In a sudden reversal‚ Harvard College will reinstate its standardized testing requirement‚ meaning students will once again have to take the SAT or ACT to be accepted. The surprise decision comes after Harvard previously said it would remain test-optional through the class of 2030. The Ivy League school first introduced the test-optional policy during the pandemic. The new policy means any undergraduate applicants who were not planning on taking a test may have to work quickly to get their tests scheduled before the application deadlines later this year.Standardized tests are a means for all students‚ regardless of their background and life experience‚ to provide information that is predictive of success in college and beyond‚ Harvards Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Hopi Hoekstra said in a statement.More information‚ especially such strongly predictive information‚ is valuable for identifying talent from across the socioeconomic range‚ Hoekstrasaid. With this change‚ we hope to strengthen our ability to identify these promising students. The decision also comes after several other Ivy League universities‚ Yale‚ Dartmouth‚ and Brown brought back their testing requirement as well. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology also reinstated its standardized test requirement back in 2022.At least two Ivy Leagues‚ however‚ have extended their test-optional policy Cornell and Columbia‚ which said its new policy is permanent.Despite optional testing‚ the majority of Harvard undergrads have submitted standardized test scores anyway‚ the school said.CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APPIn announcing the new testing policy‚ Harvard referenced a Harvard-affiliated study that found SAT scores are a stronger predictor of college success than a high school students grade point average. After COVID restrictions were lifted‚ Ivy League schools were criticized for extending the suspension of their test requirement. At the same time‚ others praised the move saying it could help more minorities get accepted to prestigious schools. The argument that standardized testing hurts minority students has become more popular in recent years. In 2020‚ theentire 10-school University of California system voted to permanently get rid of standardized tests. The move came after a lawsuit from students claiming the tests are racist and biased against disabled students. New York University‚ George Washington University‚ and University of Chicago have also joined the ranks of those thatallow students to skip the tests. However‚ others argue the tests actually help minority students.Harvard economist David Deming‚ one of the economists behind the Harvard study‚ said the tests are the fairest admissions policy for disadvantaged applicants. Not everyone can hire an expensive college coach to help them craft a personal essay. But everyone has the chance to ace the SAT or the ACT‚ Deming said.

Valerie Bertinelli Trashes Food Network‚ Says Its Not About Cooking And Learning Anymore

Valerie Bertinelli made some negative remarks about The Food Network several months after she was let go from the channels reality cooking competition series‚ Kids Baking Championship.I fell in love with Food Network two decades ago because of all the amazing ITK [in the kitchen] shows‚ the 63-year-old star wrote on the social media app Threads‚ calling out Rachael Rays show 30-Minute Meals‚ Ina Garten of Barefoot Contessa fame‚ and Giada at Home star Giada De Laurentiis specifically.I learned so much. Its sad its not about cooking and learning any longer. Oh well‚ thats just business‚ folks. Her comments came in response to a Thread by cookbook author Marlynn Schotland. She wrote‚ I miss actual cooking shows on @foodnetwork. Remember those? Do you know what this world does NOT need? Yet another cooking competition show.Bertinelli previously hosted a Food Network cooking show‚ Valeries Home Kitchen‚ from 2015 until 2023. She also hosted Kids Baking Championship for 12 seasons before unexpectedly not being invited back in January‚ which at the time she said‚ really hurt my feelings. It really sucks‚ she said in a lengthy video post at the time. She went on to describe how she was on the show during her apex year of hell as she was going through a divorce from Tom Vitale.Like I was going through it and pretending everything was just fine‚ because thats what you do‚ she said of filming season 12.CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APPAnd‚ without sounding like a drama queen‚ the show saved my life. Working with all those really wonderful people and feeling productive and knowing I could spread some kindness and not just wallow in my hell and just try to keep my head above water‚ it helped me‚ it was like a flotation device‚ Bertinelli continued. So it really hurts that I wont be able to go back and see everybody and say Hey‚ I made it through‚ hi!And to all the bakers that are coming in for the new season‚ even though I wont be there‚ Ill be there with you in spirit and I just want you to remember this: You are there for a reason. Youre some of the best bakers in America right now. And if you dont make it to the next round‚ please always remember this‚ its not because youre not a good baker‚ you just had a bad day‚ she concluded.
