That’s Sportsmanship: Mookie Betts Gives Bat To Delighted Fan For The Opposing Team

The folks at Merriam-Webster define sportsmanship as “conduct (such as fairness, respect for one’s opponent, and graciousness in winning or losing) becoming to one participating in a sport.” If you follow Major League Baseball (MLB), you may see displays of sportsmanship at almost every game. Mookie Betts of the Los Angeles Dodgers gave us a great example with the first home run ball hit by Cincinnati Reds rookie TJ Friedl. @thebsblr Mookie Betts is awesome for this @MLB @Los Angeles Dodgers #mlb #bryceharper #yankees #baseball #miketrout #shoheiohtani #MookieBetts #redsox #homerun #dodgers #fypage #aaronjudge ♬ original sound – Baseballer Mookie Betts is a well-known player. He has played shortstop for the Boston Red Sox and LA Dodgers. In 2016, the Dodgers moved him into right field, where he was playing when a rookie on the opposing team hit his first major league home run. Knowing the moment and the ball were special, Mookie Betts approached the fans who caught the ball. He offered to trade the ball for one of his bats. The fans accepted the offer and tossed the ball onto the field. Image from TikTok. Mookie threw the ball to the other team’s dugout, explaining that it was the ball that had just been smashed out of the park. The next inning, Mookie took one of his bats to the outfield for the gracious fans. He didn’t have to make that trade. He didn’t need to worry about retrieving the ball for the other player. However, the moment created a textbook example of sportsmanship. Other moments of sportsmanship in professional sports happen daily. Baseball players help each other after sliding into the base. Basketball players reach out to opposing players who land on the floor. When Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac event in 2023, players from both football teams created a privacy barrier around him while medics worked on him. Please share. The Editors’ Quote of the Day:

“Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught. And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned? Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself. He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him. Did not Moses give you … The post The Editors’ Quote of the Day:  appeared first on SurvivalBlog.com.

The Well-Rounded Prepper, by Cactus Jack

The recent Crowdstrike computer/IT outage got us thinking about a host of things that affect our everyday lives. How do we get cash out of the bank, fuel for our vehicles, food, water, etc. when the power or internet is out? Start pulling on a loose thread and we soon realize that in life everything seems to be connected. There are ‘must have’ items that we always carry with us. Cash, a small amount of US 90% silver coins, firearm(s), knives (as in more than one), water, food, some tools, gloves, hat, and some cordage (rope or heavy twine) In … The post The Well-Rounded Prepper, by Cactus Jack appeared first on SurvivalBlog.com.
