Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem on Sunday shut down attempts by a journalist to demonize President Donald Trump’s immigration policies, noting that he was complying with federal law. Noem made the remarks on CBS News’ “Face The Nation” with Margaret Brennan when asked about separating illegal alien families — which is done to ensure that children are not being trafficked. “The administration has revived this policy of detaining migrant families, parents with children, in ICE detention centers,” Brennan said. “Bush did it. Obama did it. Biden did not.” “Have you seen these Texas facilities where children are being held with their parents?” she asked. “Are you comfortable with it personally?” After a brief exchange, Noem noted: “I don’t know that we’re actually reviving it.” “It’s that President Biden didn’t follow the law,” she said. “He didn’t follow the law, in the fact that it’s always been equally applied until his administration, and then he made decisions to ignore federal law in how he handled immigration and enforcement within our borders.” “Today we’re expanding our team at ICE, and we’re going to have an acting director in Todd Lyons, who has a long history with (border czar) Tom Homan,” she continued. “They have worked together to build on these enforcement operations. We’re also naming a deputy secretary in Madison Sheahan. A child’s first steps are always precious, but one little girl with cerebral palsy had an extra special reason to celebrate. At six years old, she walked without a mobility aid for the first time! Although the distance was short, it was still a monumental achievement for a girl who usually needed a walker to get around. Her expression was priceless as she found herself taking step after step on her own! A beautiful clip shows six-year-old Love Johnson slowly but surely making her way across the carpet. She took her first few steps while leaning on a piece of furniture for support. However, she soon let go and began to walk independently. Her entire face lit up as she found herself moving without her walker for the first time! According to KXAN, the video of Love’s first steps immediately went viral online. Soon, people were asking her mom, Lovely Johnson, for parenting tips. “We’ve been getting a lot of parents reaching out because they also have kids with cerebral palsy, so they are asking for advice,” said Lovely. KXAN also tells us that doctors had once warned this mother about her daughter’s future. They explained that Love might not ever be able to walk. However, once the little girl took her first steps without a walker, her mobility actually continued to improve!
