Quest for Alien Life: From Ancient Mummies to Modern Studies

It’s one of humanity’s biggest fundamental questions: “Is there life elsewhere in the universe?” But despite years of searching, it’s a query that still has no answer. That conundrum also opens up a whole string of other inquiries, from how to best search for signs of life, to whether we’ll be able to make sense of what we’re seeing. The search for life elsewhere can also help us learn about our own existence. How many of what we consider the basic rules of life on earth are really just suggestions, or convenient accidents? Recent discoveries and studies have fueled discussions about the possibility of non-human intelligence both beyond our planet and potentially even here on Earth. The famous Nazca Mummies have been shrouded in controversy since they were first presented to the world back in 2017. Alongside many scientists who specialize in forensics, Latin American journalists Jaime Maussan and Jois Mantilla have remained at the forefront of this case. They are doubling down on what they believe to be one of the most important discoveries in human history. Ancient Mysteries: The Nazca Mummies One of the most debated recent claims about potential extraterrestrial life comes from the discovery of the so-called Nazca mummies in Peru. In 2017, a group of researchers presented what they described as mummified remains with non-human characteristics, discovered near the Nazca Lines, the famous ancient geoglyphs. The mummies, with their elongated skulls and three-fingered hands, were initially met with skepticism by the scientific community. However, proponents argue that DNA analysis and carbon dating suggest these mummies are not human. Dr. Konstantin Korotkov, a professor at the St. Petersburg University in Russia, stated, “Preliminary results from the DNA analysis show that the mummies are not related to any known species on Earth.” Defense attorney and former Colorado prosecutor Joshua McDowell, along with three independent forensic medical examiners from the United States, examined one of these unusual bodies, named “Maria.” They were stunned to find that the fingerprints of these alleged alien corpses featured perfectly straight lines. McDowell remarked, “These were not traditional human fingerprint patterns,” reports wionews.com. “We did not see any loops or whorls on the prints of the fingers or on the toes. I’m a former prosecutor. I’m a criminal defence attorney. I’ve seen lots of fingerprints. And these were not classic fingerprints,” he said. Speaking to The Daily Mail, attorney Joshua McDowell said, “These were not traditional human fingerprint patterns.” Yet, many experts urge caution, noting the need for further verification and peer-reviewed studies. Valleys of Nergal, photographed by Mariner 9 / © NASA New Horizons in Extraterrestrial Research Beyond ancient mummies, the search for alien life has expanded into more scientifically grounded avenues. NASA’s Mars missions, particularly the Perseverance rover, have been at the forefront of this quest. Launched in July 2020, Perseverance is equipped with sophisticated instruments designed to detect signs of past life on the Red Planet. Dr. Jennifer Trosper, Perseverance Project Manager at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, explained, “Perseverance is exploring the Jezero Crater, which we believe was once a lakebed. If microbial life ever existed on Mars, this is one of the best places to look for its traces.” The rover’s findings, including the discovery of organic molecules and potential biosignatures, could significantly advance our understanding of Martian history and its potential to host life. The search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI) has also made strides, utilizing advanced technologies to scan the cosmos for signals from alien civilizations. In 2020, astronomers detected a mysterious signal from Proxima Centauri, the star closest to our solar system. Though the signal, dubbed BLC1, was ultimately deemed unlikely to be of alien origin, it showcased the efforts in the search for extraterrestrial intelligence. On 25 October 2021, researchers published two studies concluding that the signal could be human radio interference. Earth Alien Life on Earth? Interestingly, the prospect of alien life isn’t confined to distant planets or stars. Recent studies have proposed that non-human intelligences might already exist on Earth in forms we have yet to recognize. Dr. Avi Loeb, a Harvard University astrophysicist, has been a vocal advocate of this idea. He argues that some unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs), commonly known as UFOs, might represent advanced alien technology. Loeb’s controversial views gained attention following the release of a Pentagon report in June 2021, which acknowledged over 140 UAP incidents that remain unexplained. While the report did not confirm extraterrestrial origins, it did not rule them out either. Loeb stated, “We should use the scientific method to investigate these phenomena, just as we would for any other unknown.” In a new paper, a team of scientists from the Harvard Human Flourishing Program and Montana Tech University argue that there might be intelligent crypto-terrestrial creatures living on Earth, hidden from human eyes. They are believed to live underground or in the vicinity of our planet, for example on the Moon. The study’s authors suggest that these intelligent crypto-terrestrial beings may in fact be responsible for many unidentified aerial phenomena typically attributed to intergalactic aliens. Note that the scientists’ work has not yet been peer-reviewed and published as a preprint, Moreover, a 2020 study by the University of Nottingham proposed that there could be at least 36 active communicating intelligent civilizations in our galaxy alone, based on the assumption that life develops in a similar manner to how it did on Earth. This study, led by astrophysicist Christopher Conselice suggests that we might not be as unique as we once thought. Humans are still searching for signs of intelligent alien life on other planets – but how would we react towards it if we ever did make contact? How would humanity respond to the confirmation of extraterrestrial intelligence? When humans do find evidence of alien life, “we will take it rather well,” according to results presented at the American Association for the Advancement of Science annual meeting in Austin, Texas. “Of course, I would also predict that if a hostile armada showed up near Jupiter, we wouldn’t be happy,” study author Michael Varnum of Arizona State University said. Looking at a mix of news headlines and survey responses, Varnum and his colleagues found that people’s reactions to detections of alien life, both hypothetically and to the famously false announcement of microbial fossils from Mars, are generally quite positive. “To be honest, I wasn’t at all sure what we would find,” Varnum tells National Geographic. “It is worth noting that in fiction, often the discovery of extraterrestrial life is portrayed as having negative societal or psychological consequences.” But others are skeptical that the results, published in Frontiers in Psychology, fully reflect reality, citing its overall focus on microbial life as well as a non-representative pool of respondents. “I think the fact that the (slim) majority of folks seem ‘down’ with the idea of microbes on Mars or elsewhere is hardly surprising,” says Seth Shostak of the SETI Institute. “Grey guys are quite different, and the really interesting studies are those that try to gauge the reaction to a SETI detection, or even more dramatic, discovery of alien hardware.” The Journey Continues From the mysterious Nazca mummies to cutting-edge Mars missions and the search for technosignatures, each step brings us closer to answering the age-old question: Are we alone? A proper interpretation of prompt contact with extraterrestrial technologies, Loeb said, could bring about “the most significant advance in our understanding of the reality around us in the entire history of humans.” What is more, Loeb senses, this new understanding could have major consequences for our future aspirations in space. “Our historic migration out of Africa started about 100,000 years ago,” said Loeb, “but our future migration out of Earth may be triggered by a dialogue with a messenger from afar that does not resemble anything we had seen before.” The post Quest for Alien Life: From Ancient Mummies to Modern Studies appeared first on Anomalien.com.

KJP Seethes When Peter Doocy Alleges WH ‘Cover Up’ of Declinin’ Biden

With President Biden’s mysterious, sudden departure from Las Vegas last week after what his doctor insisted was just a positive Covid test and a week of isolation that culminated in dropping out of the 2024 campaign, Wednesday marked the first White House press briefing since July 15, so there were bound to be tense moments like Fox’s Peter Doocy alleging a “cover up” of Biden’s physical decline. Things started innocently with Doocy asking Jean-Pierre how she was “doing with all of this”, to which Jean-Pierre jokingly huffed, “you care about how I feel?” Doocy then asked if she’d “stick around for a potential President Harris administration”, but Jean-Pierre quipped she’s just trying to “get through the day”. She then remarked she hadn’t seem him “in awhile”, leaving Doocy to clap back “Well, uh, you guys haven’t had a press briefing since President Biden dropped out of the race, so —.” Things immediately grew tense when Doocy cut to the chase: “It — it would seem that people in this White House knew that President Biden was slipping and it was hidden from the American people, so who ordered White House officials to cover up a declining President?”     Jean-Pierre claimed this was “a narrative that you love” and, from there, the cross-talk began with Jean-Pierre trying to shut Doocy down so she could filibuster. On the other side, Doocy pointed out “he did a press conference at NATO”, insisted he was “in it” to win, and had “all these things...to finish and then, 10 years later” he quits. Jean-Pierre offered little in the way of an answer (click “expand”): JEAN-PIERRE: Okay. Okay. You’re asking me like two multiple questions here. Let me — wait — wait. First of all, there’s been no cover up. I want to be very clear about that. I know that’s the narrative that you all want. Wait, no, no, no — DOOCY: Not [inaudible]. JEAN-PIERRE: — you can’t — okay. DOOCY: I’ve been — I’ve been with President Biden for five years. JEAN-PIERRE: Are you going to let me answer the question? DOOCY: Would you at least admit that the debate was not just a bad night? JEAN-PIERRE: I — I — wait, can — I can I answer the question? DOOCY: Yes. JEAN-PIERRE: All right. Are you sure? DOOCY: Yes. JEAN-PIERRE: Okay. To your first question, it is not a cover up? I know that is the narrative that you all want. It is not. I’m going to say this again, and you’re — you’re gonna hear directly from the President. I hope you listen tonight. I think it’s going to be incredibly powerful and important. The Oval Office, presidents, as you know, when they make speeches from the Oval Office, it’s because there are important moments that they want to directly make sure that the American people hear from them and it’s obviously going to be done in prime time. I would listen to the President. And then, what I will say is that it is not easy making a decision that the President made on Sunday. It is just not. It is not. And as all you — have you reported, it is historic. It is unusual. This is not the norm and making a decision like that for someone who has been in public service for 54 years, U.S. Senator for 36, President to — Vice President to President Obama for eight, and now a first term as president himself. These are not easy decisions to make. They’re just not. And so the fact that he was able to make that decision in a selfless way. That’s admirable. Doocy pivoted to Vice President Kamala Harris’s record on the border: “Does she still want to get rid of [U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement]?” Jean-Pierre refused to say and instead blamed Republicans for the border crisis because not enough of them supported a deal negotiated between the White House and a select few senators. Doocy asked a slightly different question: “As a partner, though, she’s been in charge of root causes of migration for years, she has never spoken to the Border Patrol Chief Jason Owens or the Border Patrol Chief before him, Raoul Ortiz. What should that tell us about her leadership style?” Jean-Pierre scoffed at this question with the insistence she was tasked with addressing “root causes”, so she didn’t need to meet with them so much as engage in “diplomacy” with other countries. Earlier in the briefing and after pre-written remarks Jean-Pierre gave about working for Biden, the AP’s Zeke Miller actually had a decent lead off question: AP’s @ZekeJMiller: “If the President believes that it's best for the country that he not be in the Oval Office for another four years, how can you assure the American people that he's up to be in the office for the next six months?” KJP: “Well, first, I would say is that — um —… pic.twitter.com/U5ffofYf3x — Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) July 24, 2024 Miller followed up: “So, you’re saying that he believes that he’s capable of serving another four years, but he just doesn’t believe that he can win another four years?” Jean-Pierre would only commit to telling him to wait for Biden’s Wednesday night speech. CBS’s Nancy Cordes also gave it the ole college try and specifically whether Biden quitting was because of “his health or...his poll numbers”. Despite it straining credulity, Jean-Pierre vehemently said Biden quitting had “nothing to do with his health”.  It was the same case when ABC’s MaryAlice Parks asked whether Biden felt “bullied to leave the race”:     TWEET Other than Doocy, the two most biting exchanges came thanks to CNN’s Kayla Tausche knocking Jean-Pierre for giving her first reactions to Biden quitting on ABC’s The View rather than a briefing and then The Washington Post’s Tyler Pager trying to have her admit Biden left because he felt he couldn’t “defeat Donald Trump in November”: CNN’s @KaylaTausche: “And on the messaging to us, to the press corps, it's been nine days since there's been a briefing. The President obviously published his letter officially —” KJP: “Yeah?” Tausche: “— on Sunday withdrawing from the race. Why go on television to make your… pic.twitter.com/VwXWkeBhRy — Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) July 24, 2024   WashPost’s Tyler Pager: “Did the President exit the race because he didn't think he could defeat Donald Trump in November? You'll… pic.twitter.com/C6iC1fkdsW — Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) July 24, 2024 Along with Reuters’s Trevor Hunnicutt, NPR’s Deepa Shivaram shilled for Harris: “[G]iven the level of support the vice president has received from lawmakers, other Democrats, donors, the party in general, has the President expressed any sentiment that maybe he should have made his decision sooner and given her a longer timeline?” The Wall Street Journal’s Annie Linskey ended the briefing by pressing on Biden’s health: WSJ’s Annie Linskey: “And can you say whether or not you'd be willing to have the President's doctor come to the podium, particularly given that he is — the President does intend to serve out his term and there have been a number of questions about, you know, his fitness for… pic.twitter.com/aSiJbucYIm — Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) July 24, 2024 To see the relevant transcript from the July 24 briefing, click here.

Dishonest Colbert Claims Only Criticism Of Harris Is She's Anti-Plastic Straws

A dishonest Stephen Colbert concluded his Wednesday monologue on CBS’s The Late Show by declaring that critics have no good criticisms of Vice President Kamala Harris and the best Fox News can do is portray her as anti-plastic straw. Colbert also asserted that “Republicans may find it challenging to use their usual bag of tricks against Harris to attack her because House GOP leaders urged members to stop making race comments about Harris. Not great when you have to remind your employees not to do something that everyone knows is wrong. You never want to see a sign in a restaurant that says, 'Employees must wash hands, and less pooping in the sink.'”     By “wrong,” Colbert means refusing to put a happy face on what Joe Biden said four years ago when he selected Harris to be his running mate. That aside, Colbert continued, “Even Fox News is having trouble coming up with a good attack line against Harris. So far, this is the best they got.” Colbert then played a trio of Fox News clips. One was of Steve Doocy recalling, “You know, a major liability for Kamala Harris. She wants to ban plastic straws.” Another featured Sean Hannity lamenting, “She wants to ban plastic straws. I love my plastic straw. I hate those paper straws.” Finally, Madison Ventures+ managing director Mitch Roschelle urged viewers “Don't forget, Kamala Harris is against plastic straws. So, you don't have to look beyond that as an economic policy.” Colbert reacted, “That's the best you got? Really seems like you're grasping at something, I don't know what exactly. Although, when you think about it—although, when you think about it, it does make sense that Fox News would be obsessed with straws. After all, they suck.” No, that’s not all they got. There’s also her stance on the border, crime, health care, energy, red meat consumption, listing her pronouns while also acknowledging that she was sitting at a table while wearing a blue suit, and foreign policy. Colbert wants to use humor to make a partisan point, but he’s lying to his audience, making them less informed in the process. In that respect, he’s no different than Joy Reid. Here is a transcript for the July 24 show: CBS The Late Show with Stephen Colbert 7/24/2024 11:47 PM ET STEPHEN COLBERT: Republicans may find it challenging to use their usual bag of tricks against Harris to attack her because House GOP leaders urged members to stop making race comments about Harris. Not great when you have to remind your employees not to do something that everyone knows is wrong. You never want to see a sign in a restaurant that says "Employees must wash hands, and less pooping in the sink."  Even, just less, please. Anything. Even Fox News is having trouble coming up with a good attack line against Harris. So far, this is the best they got. FLASHBACK: The Media’s Most Outrageous Olympic Outbursts

FLASHBACK: The Media’s Most Outrageous Olympic Outbursts

Conservative sports fans checking in on coverage of Team USA at the Paris Olympics might want to brace themselves for unexpected outbursts of liberal preaching from the reporters covering them. Over the years, the MRC has documented lefty reporters and writers using the games to celebrate socialist policies of the host countries, bash expressions of patriotism and even work in jabs against Republicans, like when Bryant Gumbel, in 2006, complained that the “paucity” of black athletes “makes the Winter Games look like a GOP convention.”  Reporters at the 2018 Winter Olympics used the event to spew pro-commie propaganda and fell head over heels for North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un’s sister, the “prim, young” “political princess” Kim Yo-jung. During the 2014 Winter Olympic games in Sochi, Russia NBC had Game of Thrones actor Peter Dinklage narrate this tribute to one of the bloodiest regimes in history: “The empire that ascended to affirm a colossal footprint; the revolution that birthed one of modern history’s pivotal experiments.” The following is a compilation of some of the most outrageous Olympic outbursts from media figures over the years, as culled from the MRC’s archives:   The Winter Olympics: Too White, Like a GOP Convention      “Finally tonight, the Winter Games. Count me among those who don’t like ’em and won’t watch ’em. In fact, I figure when Thomas Paine said, ‘These are the times that try men’s souls,’ he must have been talking about the start of another Winter Olympics. Because they’re so trying, maybe over the next three weeks we should all try, too. Like, try not to be incredulous when someone attempts to link these games to those of the ancient Greeks who never heard of skating or skiing. So try not to laugh when someone says these are the world’s greatest athletes, despite a paucity of blacks that makes the Winter Games look like a GOP convention.”— Former CBS and NBC morning host Bryant Gumbel on his HBO program Real Sports, February 7, 2006.    “Heartwarming” Moment Remembering China’s Forced Abortion/Sterilization Policies Co-host Savannah Guthrie: “A return to the snowflake theme and from the choir to the videos to the performers, we’ve seen kids throughout this ceremony. Professor Jing Tsu, this is a choice that is heavy with meaning.” Jing Tsu, Yale Professor of East Asian Studies: “Yes, this is certainly a beautiful, poignant, heartwarming, but also significant segment. For more than four decades, China had a one child policy. Last year, the country had its lowest birthrate in five years. The country has always relied on its reservoir of human labor for its economic miracle but now continuous population growth is posing a challenge. The government abolished one child policy in 2016 in hopes of reversing the trend. It is now encouraging families to have three children.”— NBC’s live coverage of the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony, February 4, 2022.   China = “Champion of the Developing World” Co-host Savannah Guthrie: “With the games officially open, we return to the artistic portion of the program, and this segment, the producers say, is meant as an homage to the people of the world. You’ll see as they walk, images of shared global struggle, particularly against the pandemic. I turn to Andy Browne here, former China editor for the Wall Street Journal. The pandemic is really the backdrop that complicates the image China is trying to send to the world.” Former Wall Street Journal China editor Andy Browne: “Yeah, it’s worth remembering that while western countries may be boycotting these Olympics over human rights issues, China styles itself as a champion of the developing world, and it has plenty of support in countries from Africa to Latin America where its investments are building up local economies.”— NBC’s live coverage of the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony, February 4, 2022.    Feeling Shame at Sight of American Flag at Olympics     “I love the opening ceremonies. March of countries. Then I realized, you know, man, particularly after the last four years, I had it wrong. Nationalism is not good. We’ve seen the rise of white nationalism. Nationalism is not good. And also, this whole idea — I keep thinking back on the Capitol riots, and I saw a lot of, you know, U.S. flags....So now when I see the flag and the flag raised, what — what, what, what America am I living in?”— Former New York Times columnist Bill Rhoden on CBS This Morning, July 26, 2021.   American Journalists or North Korean Propaganda? Hard to Tell the Difference     “We spent a week inside North Korea and gained rare access to the people there....First impressions: Clean, organized, and a lot of people in uniform. A tour of weapons captured from American forces in the Korean War counts as a school outing here. What are you learning here? ‘We are learning about the great fighting spirit of our war heroes,’ this child tells me. ‘America gave unfathomable pain to our people,’ he says. Here, an amusement park in the capital, bumper cars. They are ruthless, these guys.”— Correspondent Keir Simmons on NBC’s Today, February 7, 2018.  “If ‘diplomatic dance’ were an event at the Winter Olympics, Kim Jong-un’s younger sister would be favored to win gold....With a smile, a handshake and a warm message in South Korea’s presidential guest book, Kim Yo-jong has struck a chord with the public just one day into the Pyeongchang Games....Seen by some as her brother’s answer to American first daughter Ivanka Trump, Kim, 30, is not only a powerful member of Kim Jong-un’s kitchen cabinet but also a foil to the perception of North Korea as antiquated and militaristic...It also is a signal that North Korea is not this crazy, weird former Cold War state but it too has young women that are capable and are the future leadership.”— Joe Sterling, Sheena McKenzie and Brian Todd in a February 10, 2018 CNN.com article headlined “Kim Jong-un’s sister is stealing the show at the Winter Olympics.” “A prim, young woman [Kim Yo-jong] with a high forehead and hair half swept back quietly gazes at the throngs of people pushing for a glimpse of her, a faint smile on her lips and eyelids low as four bodyguards jostle around her....Crowds applauded as she stood for the South Korean anthem during the opening ceremony for the start of the Winter Olympic Games, while her big smiles and relaxed manner left a largely positive impression on the South Korean public.”— Reuters correspondent Christine Kim in a February 12, 2018 article headlined “Head Held High, Kim’s Sister Returns to North Korea.”  “The fact that he [Vice President Mike Pence] and Mrs. Pence didn’t stand when the unified [North and South Korean] team came in was a new low in a bullying type of American diplomacy.”— Motoko Rich and Choe Sang-Hu in a February 11, 2018 New York Times article: “Kim Jong-un’s Sister Turns on the Charm, Taking Pence’s Spotlight.”  “Here she was, a political princess, but the North Korean ‘first sister’ had none of the hallmarks of power and wealth that Koreans south of the divide have come to expect. In looks-obsessed South Korea, many 20-something women list plastic surgery and brand-name bags as life goals.”— Anna Fifield in a February 10, 2018 Washington Post article: “The ‘Ivanka Trump of North Korea’ captivates people in the South at the Olympics.”    NBC’s Video Tribute to “Pivotal” Historical Experiment That Killed Millions     “Russia overwhelms. Russia mystifies. Russia transcends. Through every stage of its story, it’s resisted any notion of limitation. Through every re-invention, only redoubling its desire to cast a towering presence. The empire that ascended to affirm a colossal footprint; the [communist] revolution that birthed one of modern history’s pivotal experiments. But if politics has long shaped our sense of who they are, it’s passion that endures.”— Game of Thrones actor Peter Dinklage narrating video during NBC’s coverage of the Opening Ceremonies of the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia on February 7, 2014.    A History Lesson About America’s “Obsession” With Fighting Evil      “In Korea, Cuba, Vietnam, and space, the U.S. spared little to defeat communism – at times, it seemed like a national obsession.”— Former NBC Nightly News anchor Tom Brokaw during NBC’s coverage of the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia on February 15, 2014.    Celebrating Stalin’s “Palace for the People”     “Moscow evokes powerful images. The Kremlin, Soviet leaders, the Red Army. But beyond the Cold War symbols, this city of 10 million people is a modern bustling metropolis....Stalin promised the metro would be a palace for the people, and so it is. Open architecture, mosaics, even chandeliers.”— Correspondent Stephanie Gosk profiling the Winter Olympics’ host country Russia on NBC’s Today, February 17, 2014.    Beijing Olympics a Showcase for China’s Successful “Communist Way”     Correspondent Barry Petersen: “From designer clothes to new cars, China is getting rich. Democracies once bragged that theirs was the only way to economic success. China is doing it the communist way. Today, the ambitions of most students are not about changing their country, but changing their lives.”Unidentified Man: “The younger generation are being channeled. Their energy has been channeled into making money, getting rich.”Petersen: “Rich, but not free. Religious activist Qua Wei Chi told us last week the police warned him to remain quiet or he might disappear. Sunday, on his way to the church that President Bush attended, he was arrested. As for the games, China has one ambition: win more gold than its athletic and super power arch rival, the United States. And here are some numbers that are not about gold medals. An American polling company asked Americans and Chinese what they thought about the direction of their country. About 23% of Americans said they were satisfied, but an astonishing 86% of Chinese said they’re happy with where their country is going.”— Correspondent Barry Petersen on CBS’s Early Show, August 11, 2008.   Yearning for “Bold Government Planning” of Chinese Communists “For Americans watching events unfold on television late last month, the arduous evacuation of New Orleans and the grandeur of the Olympic Games couldn’t have made for a starker contrast. However one feels about its other policies, the Chinese government is clearly not afraid to invest in the future of its cities....This kind of bold government planning died [in the U.S.] long ago, of course, a victim of both the public’s disillusionment with the large-scale Modernist planning strategies of the postwar era and the anti-government campaigns of the Reagan years. The consequences were obvious as soon as Katrina hit the Gulf Coast. And they have been reaffirmed many times since, with the collapse of the Interstate 35W bridge in Minneapolis and myriad accounts of our country’s crumbling infrastructure.”— New York Times architecture critic Nicolai Ouroussoff in a September 14, 2008 “Week in Review” piece.   CBS Hosts: We’ve Got “A lot to Learn” from Norway’s Socialist Policies      Co-host Paula Zahn: “You may have noticed over the last couple of weeks how many children that the Norwegians have involved in the games and ceremonies of the Olympics. Children and good parenting are a national priority here, so we thought we’d take a look at what it’s like to grow up here. Gretta Berget is on maternity leave after giving birth to her second child, nothing unusual in a country that gives mothers, or fathers, up to a year of paid parental leave...Norway was the first country in the world to appoint a Cabinet level Minister just for children, but then Norwegians have a different take on parenthood. Children here are not only considered yours, but citizens of Norway, with the same rights as grown-ups, the right to free education and free health care, and a right to have their questions and concerns heard by those in power....It’s fascinating, though, to see how, how generous the maternity benefits are in this country, and that men can sort of switch roles with their wives and get that forty-two weeks paid leave.”Co-host Harry Smith: “Yeah. Paula, you and I have been talking about, we want to send our kids, we want to, want to move here and put our kids in school here, the kids are, are treated so well, I think we have a lot to learn from these folks.”Zahn: “I think you’re right.”Smith: “Yeah.”— CBS’s Paula Zahn and Harry Smith, touting the liberal policies of host nation Norway at the 1994 Winter Olympics on CBS This Morning, February 24, 1994.   Ringing The Bells of Jingoism  “The pro-American approach is one NBC rarely detours from. It is in the DNA of Olympic broadcasting. Networks around the world with the rights to the Games can toll their jingo bells when they please. And it’s easier to interview your own nation’s athletes, especially if language barriers exist. Still, there should be a better way to present these stories without so much American navel-gazing.”— New York Times sports/TV columnist Richard Sandomir in an August 17, 2016 column.   Liberal Radio Host: It Pains Me to Chant “U.S.A!” “As I’ve grown older, I find my ‘U.S.A.!’-chanting reflex increasingly interrupted by pangs of discomfort, and not because I’m ashamed of our country or our Olympians....Missed in the ensuing red-white-and-blue hoopla, of course, is the fact that we are not so exceptional outside the Olympic village....We are not gold, silver or even bronze medalists when it comes to healthcare; sadly, we are 39th for infant mortality, 43rd for female mortality, 42nd for adult male mortal-ity....If we do stand atop a dais anywhere other than at a sporting event, it is for military spending, carbon emissions and incarceration rates.”— Colorado radio host David Sirota in an August 1, 2012 piece for Salon.com, “Don’t chant ‘U.S.A.!’ It’s liberal Americans’ Olympic dilemma: How do they root for their countrymen without being jingoistic?”   Today Show Hosts Worry that U.S. Patriotism Could Mar Games     Co-host Matt Lauer: “You are expecting a greater wave of patriotism here in the United States, in this particular time, than other countries have shown when they’ve hosted the games.”Lloyd Ward, U.S. Olympic Committee President: “I certainly expect the stands to be rocking. I expect the flags to be flying. And you know, the expression of patriotism is fine for any country that hosts the Olympics. We want to express our nationalism as a part of the world's community and I expect to see that.”Lauer: “But we have to also be careful and draw a line not to let our patriotism get in the way of the games in general.”— Exchange on NBC’s Today show, February 7, 2002. “Obviously, the opening ceremony, the games themselves will be very patriotic in feel. And yet sometimes the international community can interpret that as arrogant nationalism.”— NBC’s Katie Couric questioning Salt Lake Olympic Committee Creative Director Scott Givens on Today, Feb. 8, 2002.    Today Hosts Gush Over Tribute to Britain’s Socialized Health Care     Co-host Matt Lauer: “Back in the states you might be saying, wait a second, we’re locked in this kind of partisan debate over the future of health care in our own country. Here, they feel so strongly about their health care system, they’re actually celebrating it as part of the Olympic opening ceremony.”Co-host Meredith Vieira: “And these folks that you’re seeing here, the doctors and nurses, they really are doctors and nurses from the National Health Service, dedicated their lives to helping others. This has to be a great moment of pride for them to receive this kind of recognition before a worldwide audience.”— NBC Today show co-hosts Matt Lauer and Meredith Vieira gush over tribute to Britain’s government-run health care at the opening ceremony of the London Olympics, July 27, 2012.   Awful “Nationalistic” Medal Counts      Co-host Jane Clayson: “To see Jimmy Shea last night kissing that gold medal, it was really, his story is such an emotional highlight of these Olympic games.”Co-host Bryant Gumbel: “Yeah, but I liked what he said. He said that, you know, they shouldn’t be keeping a medal count, that this is not about nationalistic efforts, this is about individuals and medal counts don’t mean anything. Love that!”— Exchange on CBS’s Early Show, February 21, 2002.

'The View' Crew Lobs Softballs at Schiff to Help Biden Sunset, Elevate Harris

On Wednesday, ABC’s The View hosted Congressman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and treated him to mostly softball questions focused on President Biden stepping aside and Vice President Kamala Harris running for the presidency. Since they’re on the same side, the questions were meant to help the Democrats in the transition process. Sarah Haines began the segment by asking Schiff what he thought Biden may say when he addresses the nation from the Oval Office. Schiff started off by exclaiming, “Well, first of all, I think what we saw in the president's decision to pass the torch was an incredible act of selflessness, something, frankly, we don't see much of in today's politics.”     Now answering her question, Schiff assumed that Biden will “talk about his accomplishments and what more he wants to accomplish in the remainder of his administration. The extraordinary job that he has done and he should be rightfully proud of it.” Alyssa Farah Griffin brought up how the White House was being “criticized by some for not being transparent enough with the public.” Schiff dodged the question and instead praised Biden’s presidency “You know, I think we had confidence in the president's ability to do the job. He's been an incredible president. He's done more in one term than most presidents ever accomplish.” Sunny Hostin chimed in and came to Biden’s defense, noting various Democratic members, including Schiff, who called on Biden to step aside and wanted to know if there “was a coordinated effort to publicly pressure the president to bow out instead of doing it behind the scenes.” Hostin, giving away her position, asked if Schiff thought “the president deserved better, given his lifetime of public service.” He answered that he couldn’t speak to the “private efforts” of those Democratic members because he wasn’t really “part of those internal discussions.” Tired of this conversation, Joy Behar interjected (with an annoyed tone in her voice) with more important topic on her mind: Okay, so that ship has sailed. Let's move on from that and talk about who the vice president might pick as a running mate. How important is it that Kamala Harris chooses somebody with a -- from a swing state? Is there anyone that you're throwing your weight around -- behind, sorry? Schiff, who is running for the Senate in California, claimed “there is no one that I have gotten involved with advocating for.” He continued to say that when it comes to Harris he was “very confident she's going to pick the right person in terms of doing the job, in terms of getting the job, and I think all the people you mentioned and probably others would do an extraordinary job as her running mate.” Click "Expand" to view the transcript: ABC The View 7/24/2024 11:15:54 – 11:23:32 AM WHOOPI GOLDBERG: Welcome back. President Biden heeded the call to pass the torch that came from many colleagues, democratic colleagues like Congressman Adam Schiff who joins us now to talk about about throwing his full support behind making Vice President Harris the new presidential nominee. Please welcome back Congressman Adam Schiff. Sarah. SARAH HAINES: Good morning, congressman. You were one of the first prominent members of congress to – REPRESENTATIVE ADAM SCHIFF (D-MA): Good morning. HAINES: -- publicly call on the president to drop out of the race. Tonight he'll be addressing the nation from the oval office on his decision and what comes next. What are you expecting him to say, and what does he need to say to Americans? SCHIFF: Well, first of all, I think what we saw in the president's decision to pass the torch was an incredible act of selflessness, something, frankly, we don't see much of in today's politics, but as I hoped the president made the decision that he felt was in the best interest of the country. I think he'll talk about his accomplishments and what more he wants to accomplish in the remainder of his administration, the extraordinary job that he has done, and he should be rightfully proud of it, but also that he felt it was time to pass the torch to his vice president -- how much confidence he has in her, what an extraordinary job she's done as vice president, and I think you see in the incredible excitement and enthusiasm the extraordinary outpouring of grassroots support just how the country has embraced this change, and I think the president will reflect on the historic nature of that change, and how grateful he is for the opportunity he’s had to serve the country and the work yet to be done. ALYSSA FARAH GRIFFIN: Congressman, it's Alyssa Farah Griffin. I wanted to ask you there for months there had been polls showing Joe Biden lacking on the campaign trail, concerns over his age with voters, and the campaign and White House are being criticized by some for not being transparent enough with the public. Do they have work to do to make up concerns over transparency with the public? SCHIFF: You know, I think we had confidence in the president's ability to do the job. He's been an incredible president. He's done more in one term than most presidents ever accomplish. I think the questions that were raised after the debate because of the debate were whether he could win the job for another term, and I think, you know, the president reflected on that, and came to the conclusion that we would have a better chance of protecting our democracy, of protecting the extraordinary legacy he has built by turning to his vice president and so I think it was the right decision, but, look, I'm sure it was enormously difficult for him. It was enormously difficult for me and for many in the party, because we have not only such respect for him, but for affection and admiration, but it was the right decision, and I think we've seen already how people have responded to that decision, not with derision, not with saying it should have been done before, but rather what an extraordinary act of statesmanship. SUNNY HOSTIN: Congressman, I don't mean to harp on this but when you look at how the events unfolded, one by one democratic leaders came out and called for the president to step aside. You had leaders like Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, yourself, who is such an esteemed member of the house, many believe that it was a coordinated effort to publicly pressure the president to bow out instead of doing it behind the scenes. My question to you, was there that sort of coordinated effort, and do you think the president deserved better given his lifetime of public service? SCHIFF: You know, I can't speak to the private efforts that either Speaker Pelosi or Chuck Schumer or Hakeem Jeffries were undertaking, because I really wasn't part of those internal discussions, so I don't know what they were conveying to the president except that they were conveying the feedback that they got from members of the house and senate. I can only speak for myself. I wasn't part of a coordinated effort. I really resisted wanting to say what I ultimately felt I needed to, but having worked on the January 6th committee, having worked on impeachment of the former president, having the grave concerns that I have that if we go back to the disastrous presidency of Donald Trump, it could be the end of our democracy as we know it. I felt compelled to speak out, but I can tell you only for myself it wasn't part of a coordinated effort but rather a reluctant decision to say what I think many Americans were thinking and that is, we really need someone who can prosecute the case vigorously against Donald Trump, to protect our country from the likes of Donald Trump. JOY BEHAR: Okay, so that ship has sailed. Let's move on from that and talk about who the vice president might pick as a running mate. Now, names are being tossed around are democratic governors mostly like Andy Beshear of Kentucky, Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania, Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona, the astronaut, remember him? How important is it that Kamala Harris chooses somebody with a -- from a swing state? Is there anyone that you're throwing your weight around -- behind, sorry? SCHIFF: There is no one that I have gotten involved – gotten involved with advocating for. I think those are all really terrific choices, and look, as the Vice President Kamala Harris knows more than anyone what is necessary, what skills and qualities in a vice president, not just to become, you know, the president of the United States and get through the election, but most important to actually fulfill the functions of vice president. So I'm very confident she's going to pick the right person in terms of doing the job, in terms of getting the job, and I think all the people you mentioned and probably others would do an extraordinary job as her running mate. BEHAR: They would all do a great job but I'm old enough to remember Lyndon Johnson being picked for John Kennedy's vice president. There was no love for LBJ, he picked him because he could get Texas out of it. That's a practical reason. We have to first get elected then we can worry about the rest of it, right? So he needs us -- SCHIFF: Well, I think you – you say -- BEHAR: Go ahead. SCHIFF: Yeah I think you decide, okay, these people could all do the job of vice president well. Now, among these -- this set of potential running mates, who is going to help me win -- BEHAR: That’s right SCHIFF: -- because at the end of the day it's all about winning. If you can't win you can't govern – BEHAR: Right. SCHIFF: -- so that has to be an enormous priority.

Women of 'The View’ are ENRAGED at Democrats and this A-list star

The women of "The View" love to tell America just how delusional they are — and their thoughts regarding President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the presidential race are no exception. “I think it shows what a statesman he is. I think it shows what a patriot he is. I think it shows that he can put his country before his ego because he had such a great record as president. I think that history will know him as one of the greatest presidents that we’ve had. I really do believe that,” Sunny Hostin gushed to the panel. “I wasn’t comfortable with the notion that people were forcing him out,” she continued. “I wasn’t comfortable with the cannibalization that I saw in the Democratic party. But I am comfortable if he made this decision with his inner circle, with Dr. Jill Biden, with his family, and decided to do it on his own.” Ana Navarro then threw in her two cents, explaining that she was “sad” and “is full of gratitude to Joe Biden.” “I was sad, you know, in the way that when you see a champion athlete retire, leave it all on the field, and walk away into the sunset. That made me sad. It gave me nostalgia,” Navarro said. “I was also mad, because he’s been dragged relentlessly for three weeks, by some people who supposedly were his friends. I hope that a lot of those donors that went out and said all sorts of things about him come back with a big check now,” she continued, adding, “George Clooney.” Dave Rubin of “The Rubin Report” is never shocked to hear how deluded the women of “The View” are. “These were the people that have been running cover for him for years, and now they are going to applaud him for being a hero as their other compatriots — the Obamas and everyone else — push the man out,” Rubin says. “There is just simply no way he has been acting as president for months now, if not longer,” he adds. Media, others try to erase Kamala Harris' border czar assignment, liberal record in Senate

Since Joe Biden announced on Sunday that he was dropping his bid for a second term in the Oval Office, Vice President Kamala Harris has all but locked up enough delegate support to become the Democrat nominee for president in 2024. With a prospective showdown between Harris and former President Donald Trump looming large, many media outlets and government-affiliated websites have apparently attempted to obscure Harris' record in office to improve her election chances in November.'Literally as far left as it is possible to go.'At the moment, the media seems fixated on technicalities about the border czar title. In March 2021, Biden tapped Harris to uncover the "root causes" of the crisis at the southern border, and at the time, Harris seemed to embrace the challenge, tweeting, "@POTUS asked me to lead our diplomatic work with Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras. To address the situation at the southern border, we have to address the root causes of migration. It won’t be easy work — but it's necessary." — (@) As "learner of immigration root causes" is a bit difficult to say over and over, Harris became colloquially referred to as the border czar. Even many in media picked up the label, as demonstrated by this montage that has recently gone viral on social media. Now in summer 2024, with millions upon millions of migrants having flooded the southern border under Harris' watch and a tough election against Trump on the horizon, the same media is scrambling to retroactively remove the border czar label from her political resume."Kamala Harris Was Never Biden’s 'Border Czar.' Here’s What She Really Did," read a Time headline on Tuesday."The Veep and the border: Kamala Harris' role was never 'border czar,'" said another from the New York Daily News."Harris was never put in charge of the border or made 'border czar,' immigration experts said," added USA Today, implying that so-called "immigration experts" might have esoteric insights into a moniker that was widely shared.Axios in particular has been called out for gaslighting on the issue. On Wednesday, Axio was roasted on social media after it insisted in a tweet that Harris "never actually had" the "title" of "border czar," even though an article from the outlet in April 2021 specifically referred to Harris as Biden's appointed "border czar."Axios then issued a mea culpa of sorts. An article from the outlet claiming that "border confusion haunts" Harris' fledgling campaign was updated Wednesday to include the following editor's note: "This article has been updated and clarified to note that Axios was among the news outlets that incorrectly labeled Harris a 'border czar' in 2021."Trump is already making Harris' failure to contain the border crisis a major campaign focus. "Harris was appointed 'border czar' in March of 2021, and since that time, millions and millions of illegal aliens have invaded our country and countless Americans have been killed by migrant crime because of her willful demolition of America borders and laws," he said on a call with reporters this week, according to the New York Post.Aside from conveniently forgetting Harris' border czar nickname, some eager to promote her candidacy have apparently attempted to conceal her far-left voting record as a senator from California. Back in 2019, GovTrack listed Harris as the "most liberal" of all 100 U.S. senators, and CBS' Norah O'Donnell then referenced that assessment from GovTrack during an interview with Harris, who, not surprisingly, responded with a nervous cackle. But at some point, it appears that GovTrack, billed as a nonpartisan government transparency website, scrubbed that "most liberal" ranking from Harris' old page. X CEO Elon Musk was appalled, claiming, "They’re trying so hard to erase the Internet lmao." He also characterized Harris as "literally as far left as it is possible to go."Like Blaze News?
