In the face of rabid leftist backlash over an explicitly Christian commencement speech he delivered, football star Harrison Butker is finding plenty of support. The Kansas City Chiefs kicker’s bold proclamation of countercultural Christian truth to the 2024 graduating class at the Catholic Benedictine College sparked the ire of leftists, both within the National Football League and without. Jonathan Beane, the NFL’s senior vice president and top diversity, equity, and inclusion officer, tried to distance the organization from the biblical worldview espoused by Butker, saying last week, “Harrison Butker gave a speech in his personal capacity. His views are not those of the NFL as an organization. The NFL is steadfast in our commitment to inclusion, which only makes our league stronger.” Others have taken aim at Butker’s Catholic faith, smearing him as “extremist,” and an online petition has garnered over 200,000 signatures calling for the kicker to be fired for “discriminatory remarks.” As clamorous as the left-wing condemnation of Butker has been, support for the outspokenly Christian kicker has been just as loud. During a press conference this week, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid came to his player’s defense. “Everybody is from different areas, different religions, different races. And so we all get along, we all respect each other’s opinions. And not necessarily do we go by those, but we respect everybody to have a voice. It’s the great thing about America, man,” Reid told reporters. “The guys are good with that. They understand. They understand how things work. Everybody’s got their own opinion; that’s what’s so great about this country. You can share those things, and you work through it. And that’s what guys do.” When a reporter asked Reid if he thought Butker was speaking “ill” of women in his commencement speech, referring to the kicker’s comments praising his wife and extolling the virtues of motherhood, Reid replied, “He has his opinions, and we all respect that. I let you guys in this room, and you have a lot of opinions that I don’t like.” Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes also supported his teammate, saying that Butker shows his character “every single day, and that’s a good person.” He added, “That’s someone who cares about the people around him, cares about his family, and wants to make a good impact in society.” Mahomes continued: There are certain things that he said that I don’t necessarily agree with, but I understand the person that he is, and he’s trying to do whatever he can to lead people in the right direction. It might not be the same values as I have, but at the same time, I’m gonna judge him by the character that he shows every single day, and that’s a great person. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell took a similar stance, issuing a statement saying, “We have over 3,000 players. We have executives around the league. They have diversity of opinions and thoughts just like America does. That’s something we treasure.” Former ESPN “SportsCenter” host Sage Steele said in a video that she thought much of Butker’s speech was “so beautiful.” She explained, “As a woman, to hear your spouse praise you and have such gratitude towards you—not just privately but publicly, in front of now millions of people—isn’t that what every woman and every mother would want to hear, is their husband loving on them and praising them for their sacrifice?” She asked, “Isn’t that pro-woman?” Some Catholic bishops have even come to Butker’s defense. Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of the Archdiocese of San Francisco wrote on social media that the football star’s “call for young Catholic men to put their vocations as husbands and fathers first could not be more important.” He added, “Faithfulness is the way.” Bishop Thomas Paprocki of the diocese of Springfield, Illinois, penned a column on Butker’s speech, saying that it “can be described as pro-God, pro-faith, pro-life, pro-family, and pro-motherhood. The fact that he has come under harsh and vitriolic criticism for his remarks shows how far our country has strayed from its Judeo-Christian roots and values.” He concluded, “We should not be surprised that the secular world hates us for our Christian beliefs …. God bless Harrison Butker for speaking the truth. May we all take encouragement from his courage to stand up for what is right and speak up for what is true. May God give us this grace.” Bishop James Johnston of Butker’s home diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph spoke up, too. “Harrison Butker’s passion for his Catholic faith and his family are beautiful and well known. And like most people, he also has strong opinions on where we are as a church and as a nation,” Johnston told media. “I support Mr. Butker’s right to share his faith and express his opinions—including those that are critical of bishops.” In his column, Paprocki also noted that nearly a third of Butker’s speech was “devoted to criticism of bishops and priests.” He added, “In fact, there has been little or no negative reaction about this from bishops or priests because we bishops and priests respect his right to make his views known, including his call for priests to exemplify ‘those virtues proper to every Christian, and indeed every honorable man … ’” Sales of Butker’s jerseys have also skyrocketed, frequently being sold out, despite leftist claims that his faith-filled speech make him “cultish” and “extremist.” Originally published by The Washington Stand The post NFL Officials Walk Back Criticism as Christians Come to Butker’s Defense appeared first on The Daily Signal.

The Saturday network morning shows consisting of ABC’s Good Morning America, NBC’s Today, and CBS Saturday Morning all discussed the International Court of Justice’s Friday ruling against Israel by portraying the country as defying the court’s order to halt its battle against Hamas in Rafah. However, what the court actually ruled was more complicated, leaving viewers unaware that Israel may not be in violation of the ruling at all. CBS was the worst offender. Host Dana Jacobson began, “The United Nations’s highest court has ordered Israel to immediately end its military operations in Rafah in southern Gaza, but it stopped short of demanding a full cease-fire. The court itself has no enforcement powers, but the U.N. measure is the latest of legal and diplomatic challenges for Israel.”     Of the 13 judges in the majority opinion, two wrote additional opinions, echoed by the two dissenters, stating they believe they are ruling that Israel can continue to operate in Rafah, it just needs to comply with its obligations under the Geneva Conventions, which Israel claims it is already doing. Only one, the ad hoc judge from South Africa, interpreted the ruling as saying Israel must completely stop. The other ten remained silent. By contrast, the ICJ’s ruling against Russia was much clearer, ordering it to “immediately suspend” its operations against Ukraine. Correspondent Imtiaz Tyab added to the confusion, “Israel's response was ferocious. Making it clear it won't stop its military operation in Rafah. The court, which is also investigating Israel for, quote, ‘plausible genocide,’ also said 800,000 Palestinians have been displaced since Israeli forces launched an offensive there two weeks ago. Triggering a humanitarian situation the ICJ called disastrous.” Retired Judge Joan Donoghue was on the court during the “plausible genocide” ruling Tyab mentioned and she recently criticized the media in a BBC interview, claiming it is misrepresenting that ruling. The court ruled that it is “plausible” that Palestinians are a protected class under the Genocide Convention, not that it is "plausible" that Israel is committing genocide. Over at ABC, host Whit Johnson also oversimplified the ruling, “This morning, international pressure on Israel is intensifying after the U.N.’s top court called for a halt to the offensive in Gaza.” Correspondent Britt Clennett also got in on the action, “The fighting rages on in Gaza despite the ruling by the U.N.'s top court urging Israel to stop its very controversial military operation in Rafah… Even though the ICJ can make legally binding rulings in disputes between countries. In this case, it has no way of enforcing those orders. So, instead, it has to rely on tools from other governments like sanctions or even arms embargoes to really press Israel into compliance, but this ruling is symbolic, it is largely symbolic, it does add to Israel’s increasing isolation we're seeing on the world stage.” Meanwhile, at NBC, host Peter Alexander similarly avoided the court’s ambiguous ruling, “Now to the war in Gaza, despite an international court ordering Israel to stop its assault on Rafah, the Israelis say that they will continue their operations.” Correspondent Meagan Fitzgerald echoed those sentiments, “The International Court of Justice issued a three pronged order here telling Israel to immediately stop its offensive in Rafah, to open the Rafah crossing between Egypt and Gaza, and to allow in humanitarian aid, and ordering Israel to provide access to the enclave so investigators can determine if Israel is committing genocide in Gaza. While this is a significant ruling, Israel is showing no signs that they're willing to comply with stopping their offensive, and in fact, our teams on the ground in Gaza have seen air strikes since the ruling came down.” The ICJ’s ambiguity on Rafah is not a defense of the ICJ. On one hand, it wants to claim Israel needs to do more to protect civilians and on the other, as Tyab reported, it calls the evacuation of civilians from the combat zone disastrous. It holds Israel accountable for Egypt holding up aid, and it should’ve simply ruled Rafah is a legitimate target under Article 51, Section 7 of the Additional Protocol of the Geneva Convention, but it does show that Israel isn’t the rogue state the Saturday shows portrayed it as. Ana Navarro has gone after fellow Latinos who have expressed their support for former President Donald Trump amid the 2024 presidential election. She said their behavior toward immigration is "very stupid," according to the Daily Mail.She said that some among the Latino population have forgotten about their own roots and believe that being anti-immigrant will allow them to better assimilate into American society. She went on to suggest that such a mindset contributes to the fissuring in American society.'What he's looking for is, does it look like me, does it sound like me?'"There are some Latino immigrants who forget they came here as immigrants and who want to shut the door behind them, and who think being anti-immigrant somehow is going to make them pass as more American, pass as whatever. And that's a very stupid attitude to have."She proceeded to address the 2019 mass shooting that took place in El Paso, Texas, where a gunman specifically targeted Hispanics. Navarro said that when racists go after Latinos, they do not care about their immigration status—they just care that they do not look like them."What folks don't realize is that when the guy drives thousands of miles to go hunt down Latinos in a Walmart in Texas, he doesn't care when you came here. He doesn't care what your accent is," she continued."What he's looking for is, does it look like me, does it sound like me? That's what he's looking for. So, you know, when people are anti-something, they're not asking for your papers, they're just anti-that group."Fox News Digital reported that Trump had a rally in the Bronx on Thursday, drawing a substantial crowd. There were estimated to be between 8,000 and 10,000 people in attendance. However, the Trump campaign estimated that there were around 25,000 people there.Despite a significant Latino population, Trump did not lighten his criticism of illegal immigration, noting that it leads to rape, abuse, and spread of disease. Jim Acosta ripped Trump for his words, which he said was "incendiary rhetoric [used] to demonize immigrants during his appeal to Black and Hispanic voters.""Trump is doing better among Latinos," Acosta told Navarro. "He is doing better among African American voters. And it certainly is a threat to the president‘s re-election campaign. What do you make of this disconnect?""People already know the guy's a misogynist, they already know he‘s a racist, they already know he says divisive things, and they seem not to take him literally or seriously," Navarro responded. Cencora, a U.S. pharmaceutical company, has notified those affected by a data breach that their personal and sensitive medical information was stolen during a cyberattack, according to Tech Crunch.Letters were sent to the affected individuals earlier this week. In the letter, Cencora said data from its internal systems included patient names, date of birth, and their postal address. It also included sensitive information about their diagnosis and medications. 'We take the privacy and protection of the information entrusted to us very seriously.'The pharma juggernaut noted it had obtained patients' important information through partnerships with drug makers. These include patients who receive services from Abbvie, Acadia, Bayer, Novartis, and Regeneron, according to the report.Cencora has not yet released detailed information about the cyberattack, which reportedly started on February 21. The development was not made public until a week later, when the company filed a notice with government regulators about the situation.Tech Crunch reported that a company known as AmerisourceBergen until 2023 handled around 20% of all pharmaceuticals sold across the country."Cencora, Inc. and its Lash Group affiliate partner with pharmaceutical companies, pharmacies, and healthcare providers to facilitate access to prescribed therapies through drug distribution, free trial offers, co-pay coupons, patient support and services, and other services," a related data breach notification by Novartis read, according to Bleeping Computer."We take the privacy and protection of the information entrusted to us very seriously. Cencora is writing to let you know about an event that involved your personal information that Cencora maintains in connection with its patient support programs on behalf of Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation."Concora spokesperson Mike Iorfino did not say if the company knew specifically how many individuals were affected by the data breach. It is also not known how many people have been notified by the company.The company noted that there is currently no evidence that the information obtained in the hack has been released to the internet or that it has been used for fraudulent purposes, per reports.However, there is still an elevated risk to exposed individuals. Cencora is now offering recipients of the letter two years of free identity protection and credit monitoring services through Experian, which they are able to accept until August 30, 2024.The company has not revealed how much it spends on cybersecurity.Like Blaze News?
