Malicious Compliance: Homeowner Comes Up With Genius “Revenge” For City Regulation

When Etienne Constable received a warning notice from Seaside, California, he immediately complied with the city code. The code calls for non-passenger vehicles, such as recreational vehicles and boats, to be parked behind a six-foot-tall privacy fence. Etienne built the required fence and parked his boat behind it. But he wasn’t quite done yet. As a silent protest, he contracted the services of a local artist to paint a boat mural on his new fence. The result is spectacular. @nbcnews A #California man who was ordered to keep his #boat out of sight has had the last laugh, by commissioning a local artist to paint a realistic #mural of the boat on the fence that obscures it. ♬ original sound – nbcnews Etienne has lived in Seaside for 29 years and has kept his current boat in his driveway for the past four years. Until receiving the notice, he was unaware of the city code. His boat, a 19-foot Arima 19 Sea Ranger, has the appropriate name, “Might as Well.” When Etienne got the idea to paint the mural, we’re sure that thought was in his mind. Image from YouTube. The boat mural is a perfect replica of the Arima 19. When parked behind the fence, portions of the canopy piping line up with the mural, adding realism. The artist did an incredible job on the fence painting, even including the chimney and details of the side of the house. A timelapse video posted on Reddit details the unique boat mural from beginning to glorious end. A boat owner received a letter from the city stating he needed to build a new fence to hide said vessel from view of the street. After reluctantly building the fence, he had an idea… byu/Pasivite infunny The local artist, Hanif Panni, was to create a mural that makes it appear like there is no fence. He did such an amazing job that the boat mural went viral. Other boat owners have been contacting the artist to have their fences painted with his magical “invisible” paintbrush. The boat mural is so realistic that people smile about it daily. At the time of this writing, Etienne had not heard back from the city. You can find the source of this story’s featured image here. Is The Guillotine Painful?

Does it hurt to be executed by guillotine? Do you remain conscious after being decapitated? Unfortunately, there’s nobody with first-hand experience around to answer that question. Nevertheless, it is possible to piece together a fair amount of evidence that indicates how a last dance with the guillotine might go down. The guillotine is the iconic contraption that was designed to swiftly decapitate humans using a large, falling blade. It is best known as the weapon of choice of zealous French Revolutionaries in the 18th century, but it remained a method of execution in the country until the late 20th century. The last person to be executed by guillotine in France was Hamida Djandoubi on September 10, 1977 – that’s after the first Star Wars movie premiered. An estimated 15,000 to 17,000 people were guillotined during the French Revolution, the majority of which were “common people,” not wealthy aristocrats and decadent royals. Part of the reason the guillotine was widely used during this time was it was considered to be humane. This rocky era of French history was fuelled by the ideas of Enlightenment, which sought to replace irrational beliefs and Medieval superstition with reason and new theories about the rights of humans. Even when decapitating a mortal enemy, their humanity and dignity should remain respected – or at least that was the idea. “The blade hisses, the head falls, blood spurts, the man exists no more. With my machine, I’ll have your head off in the blink of an eye, and you will suffer not at all,” Dr Joseph-Ignace Guillotin, a French physician who advocated for the use of the guillotine, told the National Assembly of France in 1789.The suggestion was initially laughed at but the National Assembly voted the guillotine into law in 1792, dubbing it “the most gentle of lethal methods.”There are a bunch of anecdotal reports that speak of people’s heads appearing to remain conscious after being subject to a guillotine, although it's hard to know where gruesome urban legend ends and fact begins. Marie Antoinette, Queen of France, kneeling before the guillotine next to her confessor on the day of her execution, October 1793.Image credit: Wellcome Collection (Public Domain)One of the most famous stories comes from 1905 when Dr Jacques Beaurieux witnessed the execution of a man in Paris. After decapitation, Beaurieux noticed that the severed head was still moving, with twitching eyes and spasming lip. He called out the criminal’s name – “Languille!” – upon which his pupils adjusted and he widened his stare “in a precise fashion.”“I had the impression that living eyes were looking at me,” Beaurieux commented. However, it’s entirely possible this kind of oft-reported phenomena is just spasming muscles in the body’s death throes, rather than evidence of vivid consciousness post-decapitation.To better understand the brain’s response to decapitation, a 2013 study chopped the heads of several anesthetized rats with a miniature guillotine blade, during which the scientists used an electroencephalogram to keep tabs on the rat’s brain activity. This revealed that the rat’s brain activity had “significant increases” for up to 15 seconds after being decapitated, suggesting that the animals might be registering some sense of pain. “These responses are indicative that unanaesthetized rats would be likely to perceive decapitation as painful prior to the onset of insensibility,” the paper concludes.Other scientists aren’t so sure. A 2023 study reviewed the known evidence about whether any consciousness – and, therefore, perception of pain  – is retained after decapitation, concluding that it is very unlikely. Death by decapitation, they surmise, is near-instantaneous. “The evidence currently available to us is scant, and the studies that imply that there is a retained awareness in decapitated rats for several seconds suffer from a low sample size. While the best evidence currently available to us suggests that LOC [loss of consciousness] is nearly instant in decapitation for both human and rodent models, it is possible that the truth will never be fully known,” the study concludes.A clearer answer to this question might soon emerge. Researchers are continuing to toy with the idea of head transplantation, while our understanding of consciousness is slowly but surely expanding. It’s possible that these fields of study might someday lead us to an answer.

BrainBridge: Introducing Human Head Transplantation to Society

In an unprecedented medical breakthrough, BrainBridge has unveiled a system designed for human head transplantation, offering new hope for patients with terminal illnesses or severe physical disabilities. This innovative procedure, once the stuff of science fiction, was presented to the public for the first time. The BrainBridge system aims to provide a second chance at life for those whose bodies have failed but whose brains remain functional. The procedure involves several highly complex and delicate steps. First, both the donor and recipient are cooled to minimize brain damage. Surgeons then carefully detach the recipient’s head, preserving the brain and spinal cord. The donor body is similarly prepared by severing the spinal cord and major blood vessels. The recipient’s head is then transplanted onto the donor body, with precise alignment of nerve connections being crucial for success. A significant challenge in this process is reattaching the spinal cord. BrainBridge utilizes a specially designed biocompatible material that acts as a scaffold, encouraging nerve fiber growth and connection. This material, combined with advanced surgical techniques and rigorous post-operative rehabilitation, aims to restore motor and sensory functions to the transplanted head. The introduction of this system has sparked a wide range of reactions. Ethical concerns about identity, the definition of death, and the moral implications of such a procedure have generated intense debate. Critics argue that the procedure raises significant issues regarding consent, psychological impacts on recipients, and potential misuse. There are fears that the technology could be used unethically or irresponsibly, leading to unforeseen consequences. Despite these concerns, the BrainBridge team is optimistic about the potential benefits. They argue that for patients with no other viable options, this procedure could provide a unique opportunity to reclaim their lives. They emphasize the strict ethical guidelines and stringent selection criteria in place to ensure the procedure is only performed on suitable candidates. So far, there is too little information to make a reliable judgement. It is quite possible that this is just an attempt to attract investors. Men need better role models than simps and pimps

As an NFL kicker, Harrison Butker will never be touted as the best player on his team, but the three-time Super Bowl champion is quickly becoming the MVFM (most valuable family man) in professional sports today. Butker caused a stir online last week with his comments to young women during a college commencement at a small Catholic college in Kansas. But his remarks last year at the Georgia Institute of Technology — his alma mater — prove that he’s no rookie when it comes to expressing his pro-marriage worldview. Some of the most influential “red pill” personalities are just as anti-family as the most radical pro-abortionists. Butker told the graduates in the audience that their professional accolades would mean nothing if they were “alone and devoid of purpose.” He went on to encourage them to get married and start a family, while noting how that decision has impacted him personally: My confidence as a husband and a father and yes, even as a football player, is rooted in my marriage with my wife as we leave our mark on future generations by the children we bring to the world. How much greater of a legacy can anyone leave than that? Whiny liberals criticized Butker because he was insufficiently reverent to their idols of feminism and careerism. They don’t realize how much men need his pro-family message to counter the bad lessons in masculinity they get daily from simps and pimps. Strong families require strong men. Mocking women with gender studies degrees, hairy armpits, and septum rings may feel personally fulfilling, but it can’t produce the types of men who are ready, able, and willing to build a life with a wife. This is why men need good role models who embody the ideals that they promote. In 1980, the median age at first marriage for men was 24. Today, it’s 31. Women have also experienced a similar increase, from 22 in 1980 to 29 today. This means the criticism directed at women about putting off marriage and family also applies to men. In fact, the people who believe in traditional roles and male leadership should be talking even more about the dating and mating habits of men. Men are the ones who generally initiate romantic relationships and propose marriage. We are responsible for protecting and providing for a family. These are not arbitrary roles created by misogynists who want to keep women in their place. They are duties given to us by the God who designed human beings and defined marriage. Unfortunately, too many men have bought the “diabolical lies” Butker mentioned in his viral commencement speech. These are the types of men who exclusively use the words “masculinity” and “patriarchy” in a negative connotation, as if there is something inherently deficient about being male. These are the men who say that other men shouldn’t express opinions about abortion, unless they are promoting it in public. These are the men who write entire dissertations about misogyny in hip-hop but wouldn’t dare level any criticism of artists like Sexyy Red and Sukihana and the hypersexualized nature of the “whore-hop” subgenre. But there’s another male archetype on the opposite extreme that also makes forming strong families difficult. Some of the most influential “red pill” personalities are just as anti-family as the most radical pro-abortionists. The most recognizable name in this genre of online influencers is Andrew Tate, the former kickboxer who was arrested in 2022 on charges of human trafficking and rape. The man known as “Top G” has over 9 million followers on X and has been described as a “webcam pimp.” One of the most popular podcasts targeting young men is called "Fresh and Fit," a show with the tagline “Transforming Simps to Pimps.” The show frequently features barely dressed women talking about relationships with the show’s two male cohosts. Audio was leaked online with one of the men trying to convince his girlfriend to get an abortion. Other anti-family messages come from people who encourage young men to put off having a family, sometimes going as far as recommending vasectomies in their 20s so that men can focus on their careers and building wealth. Some men tell women that they shouldn’t expect monogamy and fidelity from a “high-value” man, while claiming that the potential of divorce is justification for men to forgo marriage altogether. And just like the feminists who have strategically positioned male allies, these men have female cheerleaders and mouthpieces who are eager to talk about all of the ways women are deficient. American men are stuck between a rock and a hard place. More and more grow up without strong male figures, whether due to divorce or parents who never married. More live sedentary lifestyles, spending hours on end glued to screens. More have access to pornography that teaches men to value women only for their bodies and conditions men to reject the idea that one woman — let alone a real woman — is enough to satisfy them for a lifetime. American boys and men also need to know that, despite what some people think, “responsibility” is not a dirty word. In fact, the ability to care for yourself and be accountable for others is what separates boys from men. The ultimate act of manhood is being willing to commit to one woman and the family you create with her. This is why we need more men willing to lean into the connection between strong men and stable families. They may not all get the attention and praise that professional athletes receive, but the most valuable family man is the one leading his own home.
