Wednesday marks the first outdoor rally that 2024 GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump has attended since the assassination attempt on his life on July 13th.

Authorities reported that during a 15-hour standoff with police at a Chicago restaurant, located only a few blocks from the Democratic National Convention, a man wanted for murder and armed robbery charges was brought into custody on Wednesday.

CNN Republican commentator Scott Jennings keyed in on a bit of irony during the network’s coverage of the Democratic National Convention — namely that Democrats want Americans to believe they can fix inflation, the border, and other issues despite the fact that they have controlled the White House for 12 of the last 16 years and have not done so. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is reportedly set to drop out of the presidential race this week and will address the nation while speaking in the same city as Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. ABC News reported that Kennedy will drop out by the end of the week and is leaning toward endorsing Trump, but no decision has been finalized. Kennedy’s campaign said that he will make a live address on Friday in Phoenix, which comes as Trump will be holding a rally in Glendale, Arizona, which is a suburb of Phoenix. Trump said this week that he was open to Kennedy joining his administration if Kennedy were to drop out and endorse him, which could put Trump over the edge this fall against Democrat presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris. “He’s a brilliant guy. He’s a very smart guy. I’ve known him for a very long time,” Trump said. “I didn’t know he was thinking about getting out, but if he is thinking about getting out, certainly I’d be open to it.” Trump said that he would “love” an endorsement from Kennedy because he’s “always liked” him. He indicated that he “probably would” appoint Kennedy to a role in the administration if Kennedy were to drop out and endorse him. “I like him a lot. I respect him a lot,” Trump said. “I probably would, if something like that would happen. He’s a very different kind of a guy — a very smart guy. Former President Donald Trump’s campaign indicated on Tuesday that he would make performing transgender surgeries on minors without parental consent a felony. The promise appeared in Trump’s prepared remarks for his Tuesday rally at the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department in Howell, Michigan. The Biden administration has pushed to keep such interventions legal for minors, arguing against age restrictions for some transgender procedures in one Alabama court case, documents show. At least 25 U.S. states have passed restrictions on transgender surgeries and hormone treatments for minors. Republicans in state legislatures have butted heads with Democrats on whether to keep the treatments legal. Transgender surgeries like double mastectomy and phalloplasty for females and vaginoplasty for males are not reversible. Genital surgeries are less commonly performed on children, but some trans-identifying minors go on to receive them as adults. Some of the effects of hormone treatments, such as voice damage, are also irreversible. The Republican National Committee paid for the domain kamala2024policies.com and created a website listing some of Vice President Kamala Harris’ “dangerously liberal policies” as her own campaign website still does not have a policy platform. The website features Harris’ leftist record on issues such as criminal justice, immigration, the economy, and the Green New Deal. The Democratic candidate has been blasted by Republicans for her campaign website lacking any policy agenda or list of important issues. “Kamala Harris is weak, failed, and dangerously liberal,” the website states. “Not only does Kamala Harris own the weakness, failure, and chaos of the Harris-Biden administration, she is so radical that she makes ‘the Squad’ look like moderates. She wants to abolish our borders, let criminals control our streets, surrender our communities to cartels and a plague of fentanyl, wage war on American energy, and destroy the American Dream.” Harris’ first policy proposal on August 6 was a promise to eliminate taxes on tips for service and hospitality workers, the same proposal offered by former President Donald Trump on June 9. A coalition of 14 Republican attorneys general warned Apple on Wednesday that its “discriminatory” entrepreneur programs excluding white and Asian men may be illegal. Led by West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, the Republican officials sent a letter to Apple after it opened up applications last week for its “Entrepreneurship Camp” exclusively for minorities and women. The letter, addressed to Apple Senior Vice President Katherine Adams, says that the application stipulations may violate federal discrimination law. “Apple should abandon this wrong-headed and exclusionary approach. As it stands, the program reflects a troubling fixation on race and sex — and looks to run afoul of anti-discrimination laws. While supporting up-and-coming developers may be a laudable goal, this harmful strategy is not the way to do it,” the attorneys general wrote. “And given how you sell your products in our States—and recruit developers, engineers, and others from our States, too—we cannot give tacit approval to your methods. Indeed, by hosting some of these camps remotely, we think Apple is effectively exporting discrimination to our States,” they added. The asterisks around “female” pointed to a note that said that Apple “believes that gender expression is a fundamental right. We welcome all women to apply to this program.” The Republicans said that Apple was sowing social division through the program and pushing “intentional discrimination.” “If Apple wants to open the doors to underrepresented persons, we can conceive of plenty of ways to do so without engaging in ugly race- and sex-based classifications.
