A Look into Another Dimension: The Strange Physics of Quasicrystals

New research suggests that the patterns we see in nature may be just shadows of a hidden reality from higher dimensions. Physicists have found that four-dimensional structures can influence the mechanical and topological properties of quasi-periodic crystals. This discovery confirms that quasicrystals are formed by hidden physics of higher dimensions, and not just random patterns. The study was published in the journal Science, writes Interesting Engineering. A quasiperiodic crystal or quasicrystal is a solid material with an ordered structure that never repeats itself exactly, as happens in ordinary crystals, but follows certain mathematical rules. Quasicrystals were first discovered in 1982 by physicist Dan Shechtman. He proposed that quasicrystals also have a repeating, or periodic, structure, but not in the three-dimensional space where we see it. Instead, the true periodic pattern of quasicrystals exists in higher-dimensional space, such as 4D or beyond. Now, physicists have provided new insights into this four-dimensional aspect of quasicrystals. The scientists exposed the quasicrystal to electromagnetic waves and then studied changes in its topology using near-field scanning optical microscopy and two-photon photoemission electron microscopy. When physicists used these techniques to study the interference patterns of electromagnetic waves on the surface of a quasicrystal, the way those waves moved and interfered with each other revealed hidden fingerprints of the fourth dimension in the quasicrystal’s structure. At first, the patterns looked different, but, amazingly, their topological properties in 2D were identical to the point that they were indistinguishable from each other. The only way to tell them apart was to view the quasicrystal in four dimensions. Physicists have discovered topological patterns in four dimensions that govern the real-space topology of two-dimensional quasicrystals and reveal their internal conservation laws. One of their models of the structure of quasicrystals, which explains their properties, suggests that quasicrystals can be understood as projections of higher-dimensional periodic structures into three-dimensional space. So basically, four-dimensional crystal concepts can explain some of their properties. The study’s authors found something that resonates with the existing model. The physicists noticed that the two surface waves appear different and become identical over a period of attoseconds, or billionths of a billionth of a second. This discovery hints that surface wave patterns in three-dimensional quasicrystals are influenced by hidden four-dimensional periodic structures. Morning Joe Can't Comment on Zelensky Saying Putin 'Scared' Of 'Strong' Trump

Barack Obama didn't scare America's adversaries. Syria's Bashar al-Assad brushed off Obama's "red line" on the use of chemical weapons, and proceeded to kill more than 1,400 people with sarin gas. Obama blinked, calling off airstrikes. Similarly, Putin was not scared by Obama, annexing Ukraine's Crimea region as Obama stood meekly by. Was Putin afraid of Joe Biden? C'mon man. Rhetorical question. The only thing Biden ever claimed to have beaten was Medicare. Morning Joe devoted a segment today to fretting over Trump arranging peace talks with Russia on Ukraine without, at this stage, the participation of Ukrainian officials.  But the show couldn't process Zelensky's stunning statement on yesterday's Meet The Press: that Putin is "scared" of Trump and that as a result, Trump, who is "strong," can push Putin into peace negotiations. Morning Joe aired the clip of Zelensky. But not one word was subsequently devoted to it or to the stunning contrast in Putin's attitude toward Trump compared to his predecessors. Jonathan Lemire just kept summarizing Zelensky's speeches and arguments.  If there was an opinion to be offered, the focus was kvetching over Trump's handling of the peace process, daring to negotiate directly with the Russians. For example, Katty Kay lived up to her name in saying Donald Trump's policy is "America first, Europe last." Columnist David Ignatius of the Washington Post complained: "What we are seeing is the beginning of peace negotiations over the head of Ukraine . . . It's something that I find really difficult to accept, that we would, in effect, try to orchestrate a peace agreement without our partner." Ignatius should consider his own statement. This is the "beginning" of peace negotiations. Ukraine would inevitably be brought into the process at an appropriate point. But for now, let Putin's minions sit across the table facing representatives only of Trump -- the man who scares Putin. Here's the transcript. MSNBC Morning Joe 2/17/25 6:04 am ET JONATHAN LEMIRE: President Zelensky also shared details about what he said to President Trump during a phone call between the two last week.  KRISTEN WELKER: Is it true that you told President Trump during that phone call that Putin is only pretending to want peace because he is afraid of Mr. Trump?  VOLODYMYR ZELENSKY: Yes. Yes, I said that he's a liar. And he said, I think that my feeling, he said, that he's ready for peace negotiations. And I said to him, no, he's a liar. He doesn't want any peace.  But, I think he's really a little bit scared about President Trump. And I think the president has this chance, and he's strong. And I think that really he can push Putin to peace negotiations. Yes, I think so. I think so he can. But don't trust him. Don't trust Putin.

DOGE scores legal win, maintaining access to data from three federal agencies

The Department of Government Efficiency, led by Elon Musk, secured a legal victory on Friday when a federal judge ruled that the agency can access data from the Department of Labor, the Department of Health and Human Services, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.Earlier this month, a coalition of labor unions and nonprofit organizations filed a lawsuit to temporarily block the DOGE from accessing the agencies' systems and data. 'There needs to be an immediate wave of judicial impeachments, not just one.'The complaint argued that the DOGE, established by a presidential executive order, is not a legitimate federal agency since it was not formed by Congress and thus should not be allowed access to sensitive government information. However, United States District Judge John Bates disagreed, finding that the plaintiffs failed to show "a substantial likelihood that [the DOGE] is not an agency.""If that is so, [the DOGE] may detail its employees to other agencies consistent with the Economy Act," Bates ordered.Last week, Bates ruled that the plaintiffs also "failed to establish standing" in the case. However, the judge noted that the court "harbors concerns" about the DOGE's access. Musk responded to Bates' Friday ruling in a post on X, writing, "LFG," an acronym for "let's f***ing go."Musk had previously called for Bates' impeachment after the judge ordered several government agencies to restore web pages, including those on gender ideology, that President Donald Trump's administration had taken down."There needs to be an immediate wave of judicial impeachments, not just one," Musk stated. In a separate post, Musk wrote, "Truly absurd. Judges as website editors!? We should at least ATTEMPT to fire this junky jurist. The notion of having a judge job for life, no matter how bad the judgments, is ridiculous! Enough is enough."In another case brought by 10 Democratic attorneys general, U.S. District Judge Jeannette Vargas ruled on Friday to extend a temporary restraining order blocking the DOGE from accessing Treasury Department records while she reviews a preliminary injunction. Vargas argued there was a "sound factual basis" for the temporary block.Over the weekend, sources told ABC News that the DOGE had requested access to an Internal Revenue Service system.A White House spokesperson told the Washington Post, "Waste, fraud, and abuse have been deeply entrenched in our broken system for far too long. It takes direct access to the system to identify and fix it. DOGE will continue to shine a light on the fraud they uncover as the American people deserve to know what their government has been spending their hard earned tax dollars on."Like Blaze News? 'WHERE IS DOGE?' Liberal activists freak out over Trump's flyover at Daytona 500

President Trump's appearance at the Daytona 500 had several prominent liberal activists accusing him of government waste and reckless spending. After a flyover in Air Force One, followed by a lap around the Daytona International Speedway in the United States presidential state car, the Democrat-supporting personalities seethed at the amount of government spending that may have taken place. The trend of the day by these activists was to ask why the Department of Government Efficiency, and therefore Musk, was not cracking down on the president's joyrides in Daytona Beach, Florida.Call to Activism, a page with over one million followers, said Trump supporters had lost the right to complain about wasteful spending after the event. The page claimed Trump's motorcade, flight, and airspace restrictions for the day came with a price tag upwards of $1.8 million and suggested millions more was wasted on costs like security throughout the day.Democrat activist Harry Sisson, who was a staunch defender of President Biden, desperately asked, "WHERE IS DOGE?""This cost millions to do. Where is the cutting of wasteful spending????? First the Super Bowl and now this??" Sisson added. — (@) Brian Krassenstein, another noted Democrat supporter with a large following, claimed Trump was wasting money while simultaneously taking money away from HIV patients."Trump parading around Daytona 500 certainly doesn't seem 'efficient' to me," Krassenstein wrote. "But taking HIV medication away from people who can't afford it is 'efficient'?"Other pages complained predominantly about the price of jet fuel, with one self-professed Democrat having made the claim that Air Force One will be paid for "out of grandpa's social security benefits." — (@) 'The Daytona 500 is a timeless tribute to the speed, strength, and unyielding spirit that make America great.'Trump wished the NASCAR drivers a safe and fun day during his time on the track and praised the whole event for emanating the American spirit."From the roar of the engines on the track to the echo of 'The Star-Spangled Banner' soaring through the stands, the Daytona 500 is a timeless tribute to the speed, strength, and unyielding spirit that make America great," Trump was quoted as saying.Trump was also joined by his young grandchildren Luke and Carolina, Eric Trump's children. The children stood with the president on the track as he visited crews and did interviews.Hendrick Motorsports' William Byron ended up winning the Daytona 500, driving the No. 24 Chevrolet. Four Toyota drivers rounded out the top five.Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors, sign up for our newsletters, and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Sign up here!
