Alabama man sues police‚ claiming he was handcuffed so tightly that his hand had to be amputated

A man in Alabama who lost his hand after the police allegedly handcuffed him too tightly has decided to take his local sheriff's department to court. The incident took place on February 16‚ 2020‚ according to AL.com.Giovanni Loyola‚ 28‚ claimed that he was handcuffed so tightly during an arrest in 2020 that he lost circulation in his hand. He ultimately had to have the hand amputated. Though he asked the officers to loosen the cuffs‚ they reportedly refused‚ and he was left in serious pain. "I don't wish that pain on nobody‚" Loyola said. A photo surfaced after the arrest that showed Loyola's blackened fingers‚ suggesting he had lost blood flow to his left hand. The Daily Mail reported that physicians tried to save Loyola's hand by removing some fingers‚ but they decided to amputate his whole hand after four operations. He has now sued the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department‚ claiming the officers used excessive force and violated his civil rights. The case is set to be heard in April‚ per reports.Loyola claims he was watching television in his mother's trailer when the authorities showed up at the residence. AL.com reported that "Deputy Godber‚ without answering and without asking permission to enter the home‚ reached inside the doorway‚ grabbed Plaintiff by the wrist and jerked him outside the home and down the steps."Loyola added that the officers shoved him up against a car and pinned him to the ground before putting him in handcuffs. Though he asked for the officers to loosen the handcuffs‚ they did not listen. The Daily Mail reported that the lawsuit claims‚ "Deputy Godber refused even to consider loosening the handcuffs. He kept the handcuffs on Plaintiff with the same degree of tightness until he had transported him to the Jefferson County Jail that night."However‚ the authorities gave a different account of the situation. They said‚ "Giovanni Loyola was intoxicated and arguing with family members so loud inside his residence it could be heard from the public roadway.""Dep. Godber tried to detain Loyola where he immediately became combative pushing Dep. Godber away."After Loyola was in jail‚ he was reportedly denied medical treatment‚ according to the lawsuit. He eventually went to the hospital to have an operation on his hand.“[He] was found to have a severe problem with blood flow to his left hand and is in need of emergent surgery‚” the complaint said.It is uncertain what damages Loyola is seeking in the case.Like Blaze News? Minneapolis rioter sentenced to 10 years for arson at Target HQ during Summer of Love

A Minneapolis man was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for his role in a fire set at Target's corporate headquarters in Minneapolis in 2020. A riot started after crowds falsely believed that a man had been shot dead by police. Leroy Lemonte Perry Williams pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit arson for his role in the fire at Target. The riot began in August 2020 — following George Floyd's death that sparked the infamous Summer of Love — after a false rumor that a man had been shot and killed by Minneapolis Police in the city's downtown center."Minneapolis experienced arson‚ rioting‚ and looting following the suicide of a suspect in a homicide‚ and in response to false rumors surrounding the man’s death‚" the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Minnesota described. At the same time‚ Twitter accounts and police tried to spread the correct information online‚ Alpha News reported. Minneapolis Police even released information that the man who shot himself was a homicide suspect being tracked by police. At the Target‚ another man named Shador Tommie Cortez Jackson used a construction sign to break through a glass door to get in‚ federal authorities explained. Williams‚ Jackson‚ and Victor Devon Edwards reportedly breached the doors of the building before Jackson intentionally set a fire on a counter in the mail room. Law enforcement stated that Jackson attempted to set another fire using carboard boxes and a lighter‚ but the group soon left. However‚ Williams re-entered the building and attempted to light yet another fire at the entrance before fleeing the scene. People are INCORRECTLY live streaming saying this was OIS. There is also a protest that was already forming #MplsDowntown. Police sound VERY concerned about this false information being live streamed. — (@) Surveillance images pinpointed Williams in downtown Minneapolis the same night‚ first at a Target store and then allegedly looting a Speedway gas station a few blocks away. He then reportedly moved to the Target headquarters to attempt the arson. Shador Cortez Jackson gets 33 months in Federal prison for setting fire to the Target HQ during riots on #Minneapolis on 8/26. Also 939k in restitution\n\nThis was the riot after a man shot himself and a story quickly spread that the police did it — (@) Williams was convicted on one count of arson‚ and his 10-year sentence will be followed by three years of supervised released. He was also reportedly offered a plea deal for his charge in January 2021 but later withdrew his plea. He was found guilty by a jury in October 2021.Alpha News also reported that Williams had previously been convicted for burglary and theft but had four charges stayed or reduced by Hennepin County courts. The aforementioned Edwards and Jackson were also sentenced to lengthy prison sentences. For their roles in the arson‚ Edwards received 100 months in federal prison while Jackson received 33 months. — (@) Like Blaze News? Louisiana couple who left their daughter's dead body 'melted' in maggot-filled couch for 12 years plead guilty to manslaughter

A Louisiana couple has pleaded no contest after their daughter's body was found "melted" into a couch covered in maggots. Prosecutors want the couple to spend 40 years behind bars for the alarming neglect‚ according to the New York Post.Sheila and Clay Fletcher were arrested in January 2022 after their 36-year-old daughter was discovered dead in a waste pile on the family's couch. Her body was covered in feces and urine. Reports noted that the body had been there for 12 years‚ and the woman weighed around 100 pounds.A second report suggested that starvation was a primary factor in the woman's death. East Feliciana Coroner Dr. Ewell Bickham said‚ "What happened to Lacey should never happen again‚" adding that "if someone is having issues‚ if someone has mental health issues‚ there are resources out there and social programs."East Feliciana Parish District Attorney Sam D'Aquilla said prosecutors will seek the maximum sentence of 40 years behind bars for the couple. Sentencing in the case has been slated for March 20.D'Aquilla told the Daily Mail that "the Fletchers are pleading no contest to the new charges. They had no choice. This is an open-and-shut case — they allowed their daughter to suffer unbearably on that couch."“We want this case to be a message. We want to stand for the people who can’t speak for themselves‚ to say this treatment will not be tolerated.”The DA initially called for the couple to be jailed immediately‚ but District Judge Kathryn Jones allowed them to continue their bond until February 20. The Fletchers' defense team suggested that the couple did not intend to harm their daughter.“They were negligent‚ yes. It is clear they were negligent. They loved her to death — that is the true statement with the Fletchers. They loved their daughter to death‚” defense attorney Steven Moore said.“When you look back at it‚ you wonder‚ why? How could this happen? It did happen. But at no point did Sheila or Clay Fletcher ever have a single intent to harm their daughter. They loved their daughter to a fault‚” Moore added.Moore drew attention to Lacey's apparent autism‚ saying: "Anyone with handicapped children can tell you those things can happen. This is an extreme example of how that happens. They have taken responsibility. Now they look back‚ they can’t believe they got to the position they’re in.""They are good people who have never been in trouble in their life. They are great members of this community‚ people came to support them‚ because that is not who they are.""They are not criminals. They are on bond because they are not a danger to anybody in this community. They have never been a danger to the community.""The things that happened to Lacey are horrible‚" Moore conceded. "But they cared for her daily. Sheila Fletcher would come home at lunch every day to care and eat lunch with her daughter every single day.""She slept on the couch‚ with her daughter every night." How to clean a waterblock

In this guide‚ we'll show you how to clean a waterblock. Over time‚ the waterblocks in a PC water cooling loop can lose their shine‚ and gunk can build up in their small heat-transferring fins. This not only causes them to lose cooling performance but also means they look far less attractive than when they were new. While a custom loop will usually be cooler‚ quieter‚ and better looking than even the best AIO  cooler‚ it will also need some maintenance to keep it ship shape. Oxidation and residue build-up is unavoidable‚ and noticeable if you have a see-through top on your waterblock‚ but it can be fixed with a bit of elbow grease. How to water cool your PC

If you're putting a new build together‚ you might be pondering how to water cool your PC. Well‚ the benefits of using a custom loop compared to air cooling are numerous. For a start‚ PC liquid cooling gear obviously looks fantastic‚ and you get to pick your own coolant to color-match it with the rest of your PC too‚ turning heads in the process. On a less superficial level‚ the extra cooling capacity you gain over even the best AIO cooler by using large radiators‚ and the increased heat capacity of using coolant compared to air‚ means that fans on radiators can run much more quietly‚ yet still offer better cooling than a large air cooler. In this guide‚ I’ll take you through the basics of how to get started with water cooling‚ the components you need‚ and how to put it all together.
