President Trump’s latest move is a step forward in ending the fentanyl epidemic. On Wednesday, Trump signed the HALT Fentanyl Act and officially classified all fentanyl substances as Schedule 1 drugs. Previously, fentanyl was classified as a Schedule 2 drug. WMUR had these details to report: The HALT Fentanyl Act classifies all fentanyl-related substances, including synthetic copycats, as Schedule I drugs under the Controlled Substances Act, placing them on the Drug Enforcement Administration’s list of the most dangerous substances. “We will not rest until we have ended the drug overdose epidemic,” Trump said. The bill makes permanent a 2018 emergency rule that temporarily classified synthetic opioids and their knockoffs as Schedule I drugs. New Hampshire’s entire delegation supported the legislation, including Sen. Jeanne Shaheen. “I was proud to help introduce this bipartisan legislation in the Senate, and I’m glad the president has signed it into law so that we can stop the flow of fentanyl into our communities, hold traffickers accountable and save lives,” Shaheen said. Chris Stawasz with American Medical Response said the legislation could help save lives. “I like to say it’s one piece of the three-legged stool. You know prevention, treatment and recovery,” he said. Stawasz noted that while the number of overdoses in New Hampshire is down, the lethality of fentanyl remains extremely high. Last week, during one of ICE’s biggest worksite raids yet at a marijuana farm in California, a rioter pulled out a gun and shot at agents. Thankfully, no one was hit. However, the suspect has not yet been apprehended. Today, the FBI released a photo of the suspect. They are asking the public for any information pertaining to his identity and offering a $50K reward for info leading to his arrest. But, it was ultimately very successful, with over 300 illegal aliens being detained and 14 children being rescued. From the DHS website: he Department of Homeland Security (DHS) today released the following update regarding U.S. Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) operation at two marijuana grow sites in California. On July 10, 2025, federal law enforcement officers executed criminal warrant operations at marijuana grow sites in Carpinteria and Camarillo. As of July 13, at least 14 migrant children have been rescued from potential exploitation, forced labor, and human trafficking. Federal officers also arrested at least 361 illegal aliens from both sites in Carpinteria and Camarillo. ICE and CBP arrested violent and dangerous criminal illegal aliens during the operation who were working at the marijuana site, including: Roman Izquierdo—an illegal alien from Mexico—who has been convicted of kidnapping, attempted rape and attempted child molestation. ICE previously deported him in 2006. Juan Duarte-Velasquez—an illegal alien from Mexico—who has been convicted of rape and a DUI. ose Orellana—an illegal alien from El Salvador—who has been convicted of a DUI and a hit-and-run with property damage. Adriana Gonzalez-Gonzalez—an illegal alien from Mexico—who has been convicted three times for burglary and a DUI. “At the California marijuana facilities, ICE and CBP law enforcement rescued at least 14 migrant children from what looks like exploitation, forced child labor, and potentially human trafficking or smuggling while facing assault and even gunfire. Our brave agents also arrested at least 361 illegal aliens—including criminals with convictions for rape, serial burglary, hit and run and DUIs” said Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “As Secretary Noem stated, this is quickly becoming one of the largest operations since President Trump took office.” During the operation, more than 500 rioters attempted to disrupt operations. Four U.S. citizens are being criminally processed for assaulting or resisting officers. The rioters damaged vehicles and one violent agitator fired a gun at law enforcement officers. The Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) is now offering $50,000 for any information leading to the arrest of this violent rioter. The investigation into immigration and potential child labor violations is ongoing. Information will be released as it becomes available. President Trump absolutely slammed California Gov. Gavin Newsom today for costing hard-working Americans hundreds of billions of dollars in taxpayer money for California’s failed high-speed rail project. And, President Trump has called off the rail project completely, officially canceling all federal funding for the rail. Read his announcement on Truth Social: To the Law abiding, Tax paying, Hardworking Citizens of the United States of America, I am thrilled to announce that I have officially freed you from funding California’s disastrously overpriced, “HIGH SPEED TRAIN TO NOWHERE.” This boondoggle, led by the incompetent Governor of California, Gavin Newscum, has cost Taxpayers Hundreds of Billions of Dollars, and we have received NOTHING in return except Cost Overruns. The Railroad we were promised still does not exist, and never will. This project was Severely Overpriced, Overregulated, and NEVER DELIVERED. This was an ill-conceived and unnecessary project, and a total waste of Taxpayer money — But no more! Yes, really. By 2045. Last month, Sean Duffy’s Transportation Department dropped a report detailing all the failures of this disastrous project. Politico reported: Trump’s announcement Wednesday came after the U.S. Transportation Department issued a scathing report last month slamming the ambitious development for “missed deadlines, budget shortfalls, and overrepresentation of projected ridership.” The report also found the rail project was unlikely to hit a 2033 completion target for its initial segment, a prerequisite for receiving the federal cash. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy cited the project’s ballooning costs in a post on X announcing the cuts to federal grants, claiming it will cost $135 billion to complete, while Federal Railroad Administration Acting Director Drew Feeley wrote in a Wednesday letter to state officials that the project failed to follow agreements for receiving grant funding. The project is now estimated to cost up to $128 billion, nearly four times its original $33 billion price tag. Yet, still Newsom promised $1 billion more each year for the next 20 years to see the end of the project. Per Reuters: The California High-Speed Rail System is a planned two-phase 800-mile (1,287 km) system with speeds of up to 220 miles per hour that aims to connect San Francisco to Los Angeles/Anaheim, and in the second phase, extend north to Sacramento and south to San Diego. The California High-Speed Rail Authority said previously it strongly disagrees with the administration’s conclusions “which are misguided and do not reflect the substantial progress made to deliver high-speed rail in California.” It noted California Governor Gavin Newsom’s budget proposal before the legislature extends at least $1 billion per year in funding for the next 20 years “providing the necessary resources to complete the project’s initial operating segment.” The authority noted in May there is active civil construction along 119 miles in the state’s Central Valley. Absolutely insane. President Trump is right to refuse any further taxpayer funding to this complete failure of a project. Secretary Duffy said it best: Governor Newsom and California’s high speed rail boondoggle are the definition of government incompetence and possibly corruption.
