Billions in Tax Dollars Are Spent on HHS As They Traffick Children

The Left was angry that 1500 unaccompanied illegal children were lost during the Trump administration. Joe Biden has lost 85,000 and not a peep out of the Democrats. HHS has failed to conduct basic oversight. It receives billions in tax dollars, and it has a duty to explain where the money went. The congressional committee […] The post Billions in Tax Dollars Are Spent on HHS As They Traffick Children appeared first on www.independentsentinel.com.

‘No Stone Unturned’: After Targeting Trump for Years, FBI and DOJ Vow to Probe Attempt to Kill Him

Leaders of the Biden administration’s Justice Department and FBI, both agencies that have pursued Donald Trump relentlessly for various alleged misdeeds, vowed Sunday that they would aggressively investigate the attempted assassination of the 45th president.  The Justice Department “has no tolerance” for political violence, Attorney General Merrick Garland, who heads the agency, said in his remarks.  At the same event, FBI Director Christopher Wray said, “Rest assured that we will leave no stone unturned.”  Garland said he spent Sunday morning in briefings with Justice Department officials and had briefed President Joe Biden, who appointed him.  “I have directed the FBI, the ATF, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania, and the [Justice] Department’s National Security Division to bring every available resource to bear on this investigation,” Garland said.  ATF is the acronym for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, which like the FBI is part of the Justice Department. Eric G. Olshan is the U.S. attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania, having been appointed to the post by Biden in June 2023.  Garland, the controversial attorney general recently found in contempt of Congress, runs the department that has continued to investigate Trump since Biden took office in January 2021. Garland appointed special counsel Jack Smith, with a degree of autonomy, to oversee Trump investigations.  Smith secured two grand jury indictments of Trump, one in Washington, D.C., regarding Trump’s challenge to the results of the 2020 presidential election and the other in Florida in the classified documents case. Garland also ultimately oversaw the Justice Department when the FBI raided Trump’s Florida home in August 2022 over Trump’s alleged mishandling of classified information.  The House voted in June to hold Garland in contempt of Congress for refusing to respond to a congressional subpoena for the audio of Biden’s two interviews with special counsel Robert Hur regarding Biden’s own alleged mishandling of classified information.  “I am grateful that former President Trump is safe following yesterday’s horrific assassination attempt,” Garland said Sunday.  The attorney general added: “I want to extend my deepest condolences to the loved ones of the spectator who was killed. Our hearts are with them, and with those critically injured and their families.” The FBI’s Wray said the assassination attempt on Trump—who is set to be nominated this week at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee—was an attack on democracy. Trump appointed Wray as FBI director after firing James Comey. “An attempt to assassinate a presidential candidate can only be described as absolutely despicable and will not be tolerated in this country,” Wray said, adding: The shooter may be deceased, but the investigation is very much ongoing. And, because of that, we are limited in what we say at this point. But, what I can say is that we have committed the full force of the FBI to this investigation: both criminal and national security resources, tactical support, evidence response teams to help process the crime scene, victim services specialists, the FBI Lab, and our Operational Technology Division to process the physical evidence recovered. Biden Compares Trump Assassination Attempt to Jan. 6

President Joe Biden likened the assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump to the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot and the assault on Nancy Pelosi’s husband in his public address to the nation Sunday night. “We cannot, we must not, go down this road in America,” Biden said from the Oval Office. He continued: We’ve traveled before throughout our history. Violence has never been the answer. Whether it’s with members of Congress of both parties being targeted in the shot, or a violent mob attacking the Capitol on Jan. 6, or a brutal attack on the spouse of former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, or information and intimidation on election officials, or the kidnapping plot against the sitting governor, or an attempted assassination on Donald Trump, there is no place in America for this kind of violence—for any violence ever. America needs to “lower the temperature” in its politics, Biden said. “The political character of this country has gotten very heated,” he said. “It’s time to cool it down. We all have responsibility to do that.” While Trump was speaking at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, 33 miles north of Pittsburgh, the attempted assassin fired multiple shots at Trump from a nearby rooftop. One of the bullets struck the upper part of Trump’s right ear.  Biden gave brief remarks in the hours immediately following the shooting Saturday and again Sunday afternoon, but took more time addressing the serious nature of the incident in his latest speech Sunday night. “Disagreement is inevitable in American democracy,” the president said. “It’s part of human nature. But politics must never be a literal battlefield and, God forbid, a killing field.” “We stand for an America not of extremism and fury,” he said, “ but of decency and grace.” In a statement Sunday, Trump said it was “God alone who prevented the unthinkable from happening.”  The assassination attempt on Trump took place two days before the start of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where Trump is expected to be nominated as the Republican Party’s official candidate for president as well as announce his running mate.  In a post on TruthSocial Sunday, Trump said he had considered delaying his trip to the convention following the shooting, “but have just decided that I cannot allow a ‘shooter,’ or potential assassin, to force change to scheduling, or anything else.” The convention will run from July 15-18, and according to the City of Milwaukee website, an estimated “50,000 delegates, media, law enforcement, staff, and visitors will attend the convention and related activities in Milwaukee.” Biden said he expects speakers at the convention will “criticize [his] record and offer their own vision for this country.” He spoke about his own campaign plans to travel this week to defend his “record” and “vision.” Biden emphasized the “enormously high” stakes of the 2024 presidential election. He said America is in a “time of testing” as the election approaches. “I said it many times, that the choice we make this election is going to shape the future of America and the world for decades to come,” he said. “I believe that with all my soul.” “The higher the stakes, the more fervent the passions become,” he added. The president appeared to almost repeat Trump’s campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again,” when he said, “So tonight, I’m asking every American to recommit to make America, to make America what it is.” He continued: I think about what’s made America so special. Here in America, everyone must be treated with dignity, respect, and hate must have no safe harbor. Here in America, we need to get out of our silos, where we only listen to those with whom we agree, where misinformation is rampant, where foreign actors fanned the flames of our division, have shaped the outcomes consistent with their interest, not ours. With his reference to foreign actors, Biden seemingly was referring to the debunked conspiracy theory that Russia wanted Trump to win against Hillary Clinton, so it helped him cheat in the election to win in 2016. Biden said he was thankful “former [President] Trump is not seriously injured” and is “doing well in July.” At this time, nothing is more important than “unity,” Biden said. “Here in America, unity is the most elusive goal right now,” he said. “Nothing is more important for us now.” Biden concluded with a call to maintain American democracy. “Look, let’s never lose sight of who we are,” he said. “Let’s remember we are the United States of America. There is nothing, nothing beyond our capacity.” Virginia Allen contributed to this report. The post Biden Compares Trump Assassination Attempt to Jan. 6 appeared first on The Daily Signal.

In address from Oval Office, Biden calls for calm: 'No violence on our streets'

President Joe Biden addressed the nation on Sunday evening about the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. Biden gave a list of recent incidents of political violence, including the rioting on January 6 and the attack on Democrat Rep. Nancy Pelosi's husband. 'I believe that with every soul, every power of my being.' But while he called on Americans to tamp down the heated rhetoric of recent months, he also continued to struggle at times with speaking cogently. "Thankfully, former Trump is not seriously injured," said Biden, skipping over the word "president." Later on he confused the word "battle" and "ballot" in his speech. "I'll continue to speak out strongly for our democracy. Stand up for our Constitution and the rule of law. To call for action at the ballot box," said Biden. "No violence on our streets; that's how democracy should work. We debate and we disagree. We compare and contrast the character of the candidates," he continued. "In America, we resolve our differences at the battle box. You know, that's how we do it, at the battle box." In a third flub, he appeared to misread his speech. "You know, we're blessed to live in the greatest country on Earth, and I believe that with every soul, every power of my being," said Biden. Also in the short speech, Biden said that there had been no solid conclusions about the motive of the shooter."We do not know the motive of the shooter yet," he said. "We don't know his opinions or affiliations. We don't know whether he had help or support. Or if he communicated with anyone else."Finally he asked that everyone bring down the temperature of our political rhetoric. “There is no place in America for this kind of violence, for any violence ever, period," he added. "No exceptions. We can’t allow this violence to be normalized. You know the political rhetoric in this country has gotten very heated. It’s time to cool it down. And we all have a responsibility to do that.”Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors, sign up for our newsletters, and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Sign up here!
