AI-focused Opera One browser comes to iPhone

Following the aesthetics of the Opera One desktop browser, Opera is now releasing its AI-focused web browser on the iPhone. In a market dominated by Google Chrome with thin slices for other browsers like Safari, the company thinks this is the perfect moment to lure users to a new experience. “Our research shows mobile phone users are six times more likely to be happy than not after switching away from their system’s default browser, ” said Jona Bolin, Product Manager at Opera. “So with Opera One for iOS, we want to further raise the bar and deliver a better browsing experience versus what users will find pre-installed." What sets Opera One apart is the new AI-powered browsing experience. According to the company, it features Aria, a free, unlimited built-in browser AI that provides updated web results and can assist users in a range of tasks such as information retrieval, text or code generation, and product inquiries. Opera says Aria is regularly updated to incorporate new capabilities. It currently features voice input and image generation using Google's Imagen2 image generation model. Opera One for iOS also revamps the search functionality as when the user starts typing the query, new search suggestions provide the completion of a word or the best match for the next word. This makes searching more productive with fewer taps. With these features, Opera believes Opera One offers intuitive browse navigation. The Bottom Search bar makes it easy for users to manipulate their devices with one hand. However, users can opt between this option, a Standard Navigation, or Fast Action Button modes. Lastly, Opera offers a built-in ad blocker and a free VPN to give users a more private and unique browsing experience. Opera One for iOS is currently available on the App Store and free to all users. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlGwGZ_jYp8 Don't Miss: Apple gives you one main reason to use Safari in new ad The post AI-focused Opera One browser comes to iPhone appeared first on BGR. Closely Related Elite Parents Sacrificed Child in Pre-Columbian Mexico

A team of archaeologists and genetic scientists have completed an extensive DNA analysis of the skeletal remains of a child who was buried several hundred years ago at the pre-Columbian site of Paquimé (Casas Grandes), which is located in the state of Chihuahua in northern Mexico. In a new study just published in Antiquity, the researchers show that this child’s parents were closely related elites, possibly half-siblings. Furthermore, the researchers reveal that this child was sacrificed to the gods, in a ritual that would have been considered extremely powerful because of its association with an aristocratic bloodline. Unraveling the Mysteries of Paquimé At the height of its prosperity and influence in the 13th and 14th centuries, Paquimé was essentially the capital of the pre-Columbian Mogollon culture. As its adobe ruins have been well-preserved, the site has been heavily explored by archaeologists over the past several decades. But researchers still have a lot to learn about the society the people of the Mogollon culture built, and about the  genetic history of the people who lived in Paquimé specifically. “Archaeologists have studied Paquimé for decades and have learned much about its rise and fall, the people who lived there, their ritual practices, and more”, the new study’s lead author, Dr. Jakob Sedig from Chronicle Heritage and Harvard University, explained in a press release. “However, many questions remain, especially about the site's social hierarchy and how Paquimé's inhabitants were biologically related to each other and their neighbors.” Read moreSection: NewsHistory & ArchaeologyAmericasAncient PlacesHistoryAncient TraditionsRead Later

DNA Analysis of Jamestown Graves Exposes 400-year-old Family Secret

It would be fair to argue that the English Jamestown colonists are not exactly history’s most revered people. Apart from, well, their colonialist outlook, they apparently resorted to cannibalism in the early 17th century, owned and abused chattel slaves, and ate dogs to survive. Now, a new DNA study has pointed to a taboo secret that has been gleaned from the graves of two of the high-status late 16th and early 17th century individuals. It seems one of the two was an illegitimate child. Dog Meat: Jamestown Colonists Killed and Ate Indigenous Dogs Archaeologists Identify Remains of the Early Colonists of Jamestown Excavating the Church Site: High Status Individual Graves Archaeologists have excavated the site of the town's 1608-1616 church, where the first representative assembly in America, known as the General Assembly, met in 1619. During these excavations, several burials were uncovered near the church's altar, specifically in the Chancel area. DNA analysis was conducted on the skeletal remains of two male individuals found in these burials. Read moreSection: NewsHistory & ArchaeologyRead Later

70-Year-Old Catherine Bach Still Rocks Her Daisy Duke Shorts From ‘Dukes Of Hazzard’

Catherine Bach played Daisy Duke alongside John Schneider and Tom Wopat in Dukes of Hazzard and she was known for her famous denim shorts that showed off her legs and gorgeous slender figure back then. The 70-year-old recently had a chat with Fox News Digital at her co-star John’s wedding at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Museum. She addressed the possibility of a reboot and why one has stalled for so long. She admitted to being shocked about reuniting with John at the ceremony as she never saw such an occasion coming. Interestingly, she did not want to play Daisy despite getting an audition invite from those in charge of casting. She recalled how they went to different cities including New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Georgia and California, but could hardly find someone. She instantly got the role after her first reading attempt, and was well on her way to having her Hollywood career established. She also starred in other successful productions like The Last Fight and Cannonball Run II alongside Burt Reynolds. Since she, John and Wopat are still alive, Bach is refusing to rule out a future Dukes Of Hazzard revival. LOS ANGELES – OCT 3: Catherine Bach at the George Lopez Foundation 14th Celebrity Golf Classic Pre-Party at the Baltaire Restaurant on October 3, 2021 in Brentwood, CA The trio have been present at fan events and conventions over the years including the General Lee reunion, Hazzard Homecoming, Dukes Fest and last year’s Gallatin Comic Con in Tennessee where they reunited with other castmates Byron Cherry, Jeff Altman and Rick Hurst.
