Vice President JD Vance responded on Tuesday to the news that someone had attempted to break into his Ohio home, referring to the suspect as “a very sick individual.” William D. DeFoor, 26, was arrested after Secret Service agents caught him breaking windows in Vance’s Cincinnati home, and now faces both federal and local vandalism charges. Vance, who had left the home with his family prior to the attack, addressed the issue during an interview with CNN commentator and Salem radio host Scott Jennings, who asked him how the family was handling the situation. .@VP addresses the attack on his home in Ohio: “Our family’s doing fine… I guess this person assumed we were there and tried to make an attack… Clearly a very sick individual. The good thing is, my kids are young enough, they have no idea what’s going on and they don’t read the news, so they have no idea that their home was attacked by a crazy person with a hammer … there are crazy people out there and we’re thankful for the Secret Service.” DeFoor, the son of a wealthy pediatric urologist, had reportedly been going by the name “Julia” on social media in recent weeks — and has a history of both vandalism and mental health issues.

President Donald Trump urged Republicans on Monday to get behind a Navy SEAL who he hopes will oust Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie in the 2026 midterm elections. Trump wrote on Truth Social that Captain Ed Gallrein has his “Complete and Total Endorsement” in a bid to replace Massie in Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District. Massie has been a thorn in Trump’s side for most of his second term, criticizing the president’s handling of the Epstein files and voting against his “Big, Beautiful Bill.” “The incredible people of Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District, who want desperately to get rid of Thomas Massie, the Worst ‘Republican’ Congressman we have had in many years, gave us a mandate to, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump said. “The person that will help us do the job, and do it right, is Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, Fifth Generation Kentucky Farmer, and American Hero, Captain Ed Gallrein, a true Patriot.” “Captain Ed Gallrein has my Complete and Total Endorsement against ‘Congressman’ Thomas Massie — He only votes AGAINST the Republican Party, making life very easy for the Radical Left,” Trump added. “Unlike ‘lightweight’ Congressman Massie, a true hater of Israel, and a totally ineffective LOSER who has failed us so badly, CAPTAIN ED GALLREIN IS A WINNER WHO WILL NOT LET KENTUCKY DOWN!” Trump urged Republicans considering a run against Massie to stand down and “rally behind” Gallrein, arguing that Gallrein is in the best position to defeat the GOP congressman. Trump praised Gallrein for his service to the United States and said that the Navy SEAL “is a big fan of our recent attack on Nicolas Maduro, the Dictator of Venezuela.” Massie responded to Trump’s lengthy statement on Gallrein, writing on X, “i ain’t reading all that. im happy for u tho. or sorry that happened.” The Daily Wire reached out to Massie’s office and campaign for comment. Trump’s relationship with Massie has been a roller-coaster ride. In March 2020, Trump called Massie a “third rate Grandstander” and urged the GOP to throw him out of the party after the Kentucky congressman tried to stall a $2.2 trillion COVID aid package. Two years later, Trump endorsed Massie in his Republican primary, referring to him as a “Conservative Warrior” and a “first-rate Defender of the Constitution.” Massie, who espouses libertarian views, regularly criticizes Trump’s foreign and domestic policies, including his major spending plan in the “Big, Beautiful Bill.” Massie was one of just two Republicans in the House who voted against Trump’s signature piece of legislation. Earlier this week, Massie condemned the Trump administration’s strikes in Venezuela and capture of Nicolás Maduro, arguing that the operation was only “about oil and regime change.” “This is not what we voted for,” he said. In a Christmas Day post calling out some of his enemies, Trump slammed Massie as “one lowlife ‘Republican'” who continues to focus on the Epstein saga, which Trump has called a “hoax.” Massie sent out a fundraising message in response to Trump’s Christmas Day criticism, writing on X, “Imagine celebrating a blessed Christmas with your family… suddenly phones alert everyone to the most powerful man in the world attacking you… for fulfilling his campaign promise to help victims!”

I think it’s going to save lives, it’s going to mean cheaper gas and energy prices for Americans, and maybe most importantly, it’s going to mean that we have more control over the energy resources that exist in the world.” With regard to the Saturday mission to capture Maduro, Vance said that he’d initially been skeptical that such a precision operation could be carried out — but was happy to have been proven wrong: “It was a very important operation. It was carried out flawlessly … I think it will create great benefits for the American people.”

WASHINGTON—The suspect arrested last October with more than 100 explosive devices outside of St. Matthew’s Cathedral ahead of the annual Red Mass that marked the start of the Supreme Court term was back in court on Tuesday.  Louis Geri appeared in D.C. Superior Court for a status hearing. During the hearing, the court addressed a potential resolution between the prosecution and the defense. Initially, Geri was set to appear back in court on February 5, but was rescheduled to a later date at the apparent request of Geri. After February 5 was mentioned, Geri whispered to his attorney. After the two discussed, his attorney said Louis “doesn’t want to come back until there’s a resolution.” D.C. Superior Court Judge Jennifer Di Toro acknowledged Geri’s request.  Previously, Geri’s defense rejected a plea deal offered by the prosecution. Due to a judge caseload transfer, Geri’s case was reassigned from Judge Heide Herrmann to Judge Di Toro. Geri faces charges of one count of Unlawful Manufacture or Possession of  Weapon of Mass Destruction and False Report of a Weapon of Mass Destruction.  Geri was apprehended after stepping outside his tent to urinate on October 5 of last year. His tent, which allegedly contained the explosives, was set up on the steps of St. Matthew’s Cathedral, according to WUSA9. Authorities say he had gathered materials for the devices in Arkansas and was aware “that multiple public figures would likely attend” the event and that the “potential for damage was incredibly high.”  Due to security concerns at the time, Supreme Court justices did not attend the Red Mass, which is an annual event held by the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle, wherein the parish prays for the High Court at the beginning of a new term. On Tuesday, Judge Di Toro granted a mutual continuance, indicating that both sides agreed to delay proceedings while assessing if the case could be resolved without a trial. The court is set to reconvene on February 19 to discuss the case’s next steps.
