With 535 total members of Congress, and new ones being elected all the time, it’s nearly impossible to keep up with all of them. Still, there are many who have been around a long time and achieved senior status and respect from their peers while not becoming a household name. Such was the case for top Democrat Henry Cuellar. Here’s a short bio: Henry Cuellar has spent nearly forty years in public service, rising from local beginnings in South Texas to one of the most senior Democratic voices in Congress. Born in 1955 in Laredo as the eldest of eight children in a migrant farm-worker family, he worked his way through community college, earned multiple degrees including a law degree and a Ph.D. in government, and built a career grounded in public-sector service. Cuellar first served in the Texas House of Representatives from 1987 to 2001, becoming known for his focus on education, border issues, and pragmatic bipartisan work. In 2001 he was appointed Texas Secretary of State, the last Democrat to hold that statewide office. In 2005 he entered the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Texas’s 28th District. He has been reelected many times, giving him nearly two decades of continuous congressional service. Over that time he has held influential roles, particularly on the House Appropriations Committee, shaping federal spending in areas such as homeland security, defense, and veterans’ affairs. But that’s not why I’m telling you about him. I’m reporting on him because once again the Joe Biden Administration weaponized the DOJ and “took him out”. Why? Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar (MN) suggested on Wednesday that Trump supporters might use violence against Somali migrants, while she brushed off a massive Somali-connected fraud scandal in Minnesota that cost taxpayers billions of dollars. Omar told CNN host Jake Tapper that Trump’s comments about the fraud scandal, and, in particular, Somali immigrants, “creates fear.” “And there is a possible danger that a lot of the people who follow the president have exhibited violence in many cases, especially in my case, whenever he has said something about me that is derogatory or says I’m a threat to the country, I have gotten death threats,” the Democrat said. “There are so many people that have been incarcerated over the years that have been encouraged by the president’s words,” Omar claimed. “And so there is fear for Somalis, not just in Minnesota, but across the country, that some of these people might attack and harm them.” “And so, to me, it is important for us, one, to remind folks that we are Americans,” she added. “We’re not going anywhere, and we will continue to be in this country. Charging documents for the suspected Washington, D.C., pipe bomber were unsealed in court on Thursday as the Justice Department announced the arrest of Brian Cole Jr. According to an FBI affidavit, Cole is 30 years old, 5-foot-6, works as a bail bondsman, and lives with his mother in Woodbridge, Virginia. The feds say that Cole used credit cards to purchase bomb-making equipment from Virginia stores. He bought six pipes, 12 black end caps, and electrical wires from numerous different Home Depots, between May 2019 and November 2020. He also purchased steel wool, which was packed inside the pipe bombs, there. Cole purchased five nine-volt battery connectors from Micro Center, some using cash and bought kitchen timers from Walmart, according to the charging documents. He also bought tools like protective gloves and disinfectant wipes on November 24, 2020. The pipe bomber investigation dragged on for nearly five years, and many Americans doubted that the federal government would ever find the culprit. The FBI offered the public a $500,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who planted bombs at the Republican and Democratic Party headquarters on the eve of the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot. FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino said at a press conference Thursday afternoon that federal investigators closed in on Cole through “internal work” and “not a public tip.” “You are not going to walk into our capital city, put down two explosive devices, and get away. We would track him to the end of the earth. We didn’t have to track him that far, he wound up being in Woodbridge, Virginia,” Bongino said. Data from Cole’s cell phone provider showed that he was near the RNC and DNC on January 5, 2021, between 7:39 p.m. and 8:24 p.m. Data from the cell phone company provided in February 2021 contained an error that was corrected two months later, the filing said. Cole drives a 2017 Nissan Sentry with Virginia plates, and it was captured by a license plate reader on I-395 South near the Capitol at 7:34 p.m. Three weeks before the bombs were placed, on December 14, 2020, Cole bought food from a restaurant in the area. Attorney General Pam Bondi ripped the Biden administration for failing to solve the case for four years, saying “The total lack of movement undermined trust in law enforcement.” “It languished for four years until Kash Patel and Dan Bongino came to the FBI. There was no new tip, no new witness, the information had been sitting at the FBI for four years,” Bondi added.
