How Trump’s 2027 Budget Cuts Funding for Woke Ideology

President Donald Trump’s 2027 budget includes massive funding cuts for programs pushing ideologies “that poison the minds of Americans,” according to a fact sheet obtained by The Daily Signal. Under the leadership of Director Russ Vought, the White House’s Office of Management and Budget released its fiscal year 2027 budget Friday, stating plans to “eliminat[e] funding for cultural Marxism.” The budget calls for non-defense discretionary spending to be cut 10%, as opposed to 20% last year. The budget cuts $106 million from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, which funded a project at Seattle Children’s Hospital titled, “Using Telehealth to Improve Access to Gender-Affirming Care for BIPOC and Rural Gender-Diverse Youth.” The budget also asks Congress to eliminate the agency’s “digital health portfolio,” which it says included an AI tool to help 15- to 25-year-olds with “sexual health decision making.” The agency also funded an online tool called “ContraceptionForAll” to help females identifying as males choose contraception, and a study on how Medicaid “gender-affirming care” coverage policies impacted the use of hormones and sex-change surgeries among beneficiaries, according to the fact sheet. Trump wants to cut all funding for the Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education because “the Congress has abused these funds by directing them to fund initiatives unrelated to students or institutional reforms.” This includes $1.2 million for San Diego Community College’s LGBTQIA+ pride Center staffing, according to the fact sheet. The budget also eliminates awards to Community Development Financial Institutions. Former Vice President Kamala Harris had announced $1.73 billion in grants to 603 institutions in 2023 to build “a more equitable, resilient economy.” “Terminating this fund would also prevent taxpayer dollars from forwarding gender extremism, including an LQBTQ+ clinic in Detroit, transgender housing initiatives, and a fashion show promoting transgender awareness,” the fact sheet says. The budget eliminates the Department of Justice’s Community Relations Service and Office of Access to Justice. “Each is a woke enterprise that fails to serve the core function of DOJ to fight crime and protect U.S. communities,” the fact sheet says. Community Relations Service has the job of “preventing and resolving racial and ethnic tensions, incidents, and civil disorders, and in restoring racial stability and harmony,” while the Office of Access to Justice executes “access to justice policy initiatives.” According to OMB, “this means helping Non-Governmental Organizations and their lawyers to interfere with Government processes and prevent justice from being delivered effectively.” Trump also wants to eliminate funding for the Department of Education’s Equity Assistance Centers. “This program has been weaponized to force local districts to implement Washington-directed DEI practices against their will,” the fact sheet says. “Examples of weaponized grant programming include equity audits for districts to assess racism and bias; training materials for educators on white supremacy; and ‘Anti-Racism Committee’ groups for districts.” The budget ends Department of Housing and Urban Development grants for racial, gender, and climate goals. For example, the department provided $5 million to the City of Seattle to “redress past harms” through a “Legacy Homeowner Program” that prioritized Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) residents “at risk of displacement.” The department also gave Los Angeles $6.7 million for housing, including an “Equity Audit to reverse land use patterns that have roots in systemically racist policies.“ Milwaukee received $2.1 million to solve racial disparities in home ownership. The budget would end $70 million in funding for the Teacher Quality Partnership Program, which OMB says was used to indoctrinate new teachers. “Training materials in these ‘partnerships’ included topics such as Critical Race Theory, DEI, social justice activism, ‘anti-racism,’ and instruction on white privilege and white supremacy,” the fact sheet says. The budget terminates the Environmental Protection Agency Environmental Justice Program, which claimed minorities were especially vulnerable to “climate change” because of their dependence on “climate-sensitive resources” like food and water. Trump also seeks to eliminate the Minority Business Development Agency, after a district court in 2024 found the agency’s presumption of “social disadvantage based on race or ethnicity” in its funding decisions to be unconstitutional. ActBlue Lawyers Raised Alarm About Potential Misstatements to Congress on Foreign Donations: Report

Lawyers for the Democrat fundraising organization ActBlue warned that the organization’s CEO may have misled Congress in explaining how her group vetted donations to ensure they did not come from foreign citizens, according to newly released memos. ActBlue told The Daily Signal that it has “continually worked to comply” with all laws regarding foreign contributions. The memos warn that ActBlue President and CEO Regina Wallace-Jones’ 2023 letter to the U.S. Committee on House Administration laid out an overly optimistic version of ActBlue’s foreign donation screening. After the organization’s then-law firm Covington & Burling sent the memos in early 2025, many ActBlue senior officials resigned, and the law firm would later separate from ActBlue. “It can be alleged that ActBlue accepted and/or facilitated the acceptance of foreign-national contributions into American elections,” warns one of the memos, reported by The New York Times. “In addition, because ActBlue’s staff was aware that its system was not as robust as necessary, it could be alleged that these violations were ‘knowing and willful,’ a standard that both increases the penalties the [Federal Election Commission] might seek and gives the Justice Department jurisdiction for a potential criminal investigation.” While Wallace-Jones’ letter said the organization processed contributions with foreign mailing addresses only if a donor supplied a U.S. passport number, the Covington memo stated that ActBlue did not always follow that rule. Wallace-Jones’ letter also claimed that ActBlue would contact donors to request passport information, and refund those who could not be reached. A memo claimed that donors who paid through third-party apps such as Apple Pay, PayPal, or Venmo did not receive these requests for passport information. The memos did not identify illegal contributions, and suggested the scope of the problems was unclear. Kimberly Peeler-Allen, chairwoman of the ActBlue board of directors, told The New York Times that “less than 1%” of contributions from the 2024 election cycle had signs that they came from foreign countries. “The November 2023 letter sent to Congress by ActBlue was carefully reviewed by inside and outside counsel and key business leaders prior to submission,” ActBlue told The Daily Signal. “The letter was accurate.” “The statements in my 2023 letter to the House Administration Committee were accurate in the context in which they were written,” Wallace-Jones told The New York Times. She noted that Covington approved the letter. Even so, ActBlue took steps to beef up its vetting of foreign donations and outlined the changes in a June 2025 letter to various congressional leaders, including the Committee on House Administration. The letter also suggested Republicans engaged in a “partisan effort” instead of “an exercise of legitimate legislative oversight.” In her statement to the Times, Wallace-Jones attacked Covington, saying she had “terminated” ActBlue’s relationship with the law firm in March 2025 after “more than a year of navigating tardiness, unpreparedness, and counsel that bordered on malpractice.” “We have complete confidence in the legal advice our lawyers provided to ActBlue, David Schaefer, senior director of communications at Covington & Burling, told The Daily Signal in a statement Thursday. ActBlue’s Response “ActBlue has continually worked to comply with all FEC laws including laws related to appropriately screening for potential foreign contributions, which constitute less than 1% of the total contributions on the ActBlue platform,” ActBlue told The Daily Signal. “Of those, many come from the 6 million American citizens who live abroad—such as US military personnel.” “We have continually improved our processes, even while facing repeated partisan attacks from the Trump administration and its allies,” ActBlue stated. “Most importantly, ActBlue is stable and stronger than ever.” While ActBlue told The Daily Signal that the Times “unfortunately disregarded extensive evidence we made available to them,” it did not contest any of the specific quotes from the memos. Three Options One of the Covington 2025 memos outlined “potential legal risks associated with statements to Congress that may be alleged to be false or misleading,” noting that the maximum penalties would be five years in prison and $250,000 in fines. The memo outlined three options for ActBlue: Provide new information “without explicitly stating that ActBlue is correcting the record.” “Explicitly correct the record.” “Do not provide additional information clarifying the prior statements.” “An aggressive prosecutor may view the November 2023 letter not just as a false statement but as an effort to conceal the foreign contributions,” the Covington memo reportedly warned. Three House committees—the Judiciary Committee, the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and the Committee on House Administration—are investigating ActBlue, as are the Justice Department and the FBI. The Justice Department did not respond to The Daily Signal’s request for comment. March Job Growth Triples Expectations, Unemployment Rate Dips

Job growth tripled expectations and the unemployment rate defied forecasts by declining in March, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported Friday. Total seasonally-adjusted nonfarm payroll employment grew by 178,000 in March, surging back from February’s 133,000 decline – and crushing analysts’ expectations of an increase of 60,000. The unemployment rate, which was expected to remain unchanged, actually declined from 4.4% in February to 4.3% last month, as the number of unemployed people fell from 7,571,000 to 7,239,000. Unemployment rates declined broadly across major demographic groups (men, women, Black, White, Asian, Hispanic). In March, month-to-month job gains occurred in health care, and construction, as well as in transportation and warehousing, while federal government employment continued to decline: Health care: +76,000. Construction: +26,000. Transportation and warehousing: +21,000 jobs, reflecting a gain in couriers and messengers (+20,000). Social assistance: +14,000, primarily in individual and family services (+11,000). Federal government: -18,000. Financial services: -15,000. Employment in ambulatory health care services rose by 54,000, reflecting an increase of 35,000 in offices of physicians as workers returned from a strike. Employment also increased in hospitals (+15,000). Over the prior 12 months, health care had added an average of 29,000 jobs per month. Since reaching a peak in October 2024 under the Biden Administration, federal government employment has fallen by 355,000 (-11.8%). March’s federal government employment count includes federal employees on furlough during the partial government shutdown who were counted as employed because they worked or received (or will receive) pay for the pay period that included the 12th of the month. Employment showed little change over the month in other major industries, such as mining, manufacturing, wholesale trade, retail trade, information, professional and business services, leisure and hospitality. Revisions for January (+34,000) and February (-41,000) lowered the combined job number for those two months by 7,000.

SNL's Mamdani Impersonator Gushes: 'I Would Just Watch Him Smile'

SNL's Mamdani Impersonator Gushes: 'I Would Just Watch Him Smile'

CBS’s Stephen Colbert welcomed actor, comedian, and Saturday Night Live’s Zohran Mamdani impersonator Ramy Youssef to Thursday’s taping of The Late Show to discuss what it was like to play the New York City mayor on SNL. According to Youssef, the key to doing a good Mamdani impression is to smile at everything, something Colbert agreed with. Colbert began by asking, “You played Zohran Mamdani a couple of months ago, back on SNL. What's the trick? What's the trick? What's your hook, I should rather say? What’s your hook for a good Mamdani.” That cold open featured the mayoral debate between Mamdani, Andrew Cuomo, and Curtis Sliwa and was fairly sympathetic to Mamdani. Certainly, the regular SNL cast, as well as the daily comedy shows, would consider themselves to be fans. As for Youssef, he replied, “Well, I would just watch him smile, no matter what he was saying. You know, no matter what was going on. Like, it was just everything, it could be the most serious thing, and he would have a smile and be incredibly serious and I thought, kind of, the way in and it was very fun.” Colbert echoed the idea, “Wow, even things that shouldn't make you smile. He smiles when he says them.”   Stephen Colbert asks stand-up comic Ramy Youssef that the key to playing Zohran Mamdani on SNL was and Yousef says "Well, I would just watch him smile, no matter what he was saying. You know, no matter what was going on. Like, it was just everything, it could be the most serious… pic.twitter.com/4Ia34xxu0g — Alex Christy (@alexchristy17) April 3, 2026   Youssef added, “Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. He’ll just, like, ‘ICE’—he’ll be like. ‘You're not allowed in the city.’ And he’s like, big beaming smile.” Colbert then wondered about Mamdani’s reaction, “Do you know if he saw it?” Yousseff reported that, “Yeah, he saw it. He saw it and he actually, like, we—he called me when I was still dressed as him, and he was really creeped out by it.” While Yousseff claims the key to portraying the radical Mamdani is to smile at everything, SNL’s James Austin Johnson, who plays President Trump, has claimed that his impression has gotten “super dark," and that is a good summary of how SNL styles its characters. One is the “we tease because we love” kind of humor, and the other is the kind that is meant to serve the show’s larger agenda. Here is a transcript for the April 2-taped show: CBS The Late Show with Stephen Colbert 4/3/2026 12:26 AM ET STEPHEN COLBERT: You played Zohran Mamdani a couple of months ago, back on SNL RAMY YOUSSEF: Yeah. COLBERT: Nice job. YOUSSEF: Thank you. COLBER: What's the trick? What's the trick? What's your hook, I should rather say? What’s your hook for a good Mamdani YOUSSEF: Well, I would just watch him smile, no matter what he was saying. You know, no matter what was going on. Like, it was just everything, it could be the most serious thing, and he would have a smile and be incredibly serious and I thought, kind of, the way in and it was very fun. Yeah. COLBERT: Wow, even things that shouldn't make you smile. He smiles when he says them. YOUSSEF: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. He’ll just, like, "ICE"—he’ll be like “You're not allowed in the city.” And he’s like, big beaming smile. COLBERT: Do you know if he saw it? YOUSSEF: Yeah, he saw it. Bondi speaks out after ouster, still may have to testify before Congress

President Donald Trump politely kicked Pam Bondi to the curb on Thursday, touting her as a "Great American Patriot" and crediting her with "overseeing a massive crackdown in Crime across our Country" during her nearly 14 months on the job.Hours after Trump publicized the ouster and named Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche as the acting attorney general, Bondi took a page out of ex-Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem's book, expressing her gratitude to the president and framing her time at the Justice Department in positive terms."Leading President Trump’s historic and highly successful efforts to make America safer and more secure has been the honor of a lifetime, and easily the most consequential first year of the Department of Justice in American history," Bondi wrote on X.'She must answer for her mishandling of the Epstein files.'Bondi — criticized in recent months over her DOJ's handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files, her bizarre Epstein testimony, her suggestion that "hate speech" should be policed, and her perceived inefficacy and failure to prosecute the individuals who waged potentially illegal lawfare against Trump — echoed Trump's remark about the precipitous drop in crime over the past year.A report from the Major Cities Chiefs Association comparing crime stats in 2025 to stats from the previous year found that homicides dropped nationally by 19.3%; rapes dropped by nearly 9%; robberies dropped by 19.8%; and aggravated assault dropped by 9.7%.RELATED: If the Justice Department won’t execute Trump’s orders, who’s in charge? Roberto Schmidt/Getty Images"Since February 2025, we have secured the lowest murder rate in 125 years, secured first-ever terrorism convictions against members of Antifa, shattered domestic and transnational gangs across the country, taken custody of more than 90 key cartel figures, and won 24 favorable rulings at the Supreme Court," wrote Bondi.Bondi added, "I remain eternally grateful for the trust that President Trump placed in me to Make America Safe Again."Although Bondi noted that she is "moving to an important private sector role," she still may have to answer for actions taken while serving as attorney general. The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee voted last month to subpoena Bondi on the release of the Epstein files.Democrats on the committee emphasized in a joint statement on Thursday that Bondi "will not escape accountability and remains legally obligated to appear before our Committee under oath. She must answer for her mishandling of the Epstein files and the special treatment she has given Ghislaine Maxwell."The top Democrat on the committee, Rep. Robert Garcia (Calif.), tweeted, "Pam Bondi and Donald Trump may think her firing gets her out of testifying to the Oversight Committee. They are wrong — and we look forward to hearing from her under oath."Republican Rep. Nancy Mace (S.C.) wrote, "My subpoena still stands. When the Oversight Committee moved to subpoena Bondi, I did it by name, not by or not as the sitting Attorney General of the U.S."Around the time the subpoena was issued, Mace stated, "AG Bondi claims the DOJ has released all of the Epstein files. The record is clear: they have not. The Epstein case is one of the greatest cover-ups in American history. His global sex trafficking network is larger than what is being revealed. Three million documents have been released, and we still don't have the full truth. Videos are missing. Audio is missing. Logs are missing. There are millions more documents out there. We want to know why the DOJ is more focused on shielding the powerful than delivering justice."Citing people familiar with the discussions between Bondi and the committee, the New York Times reported that Bondi has not yet committed to appearing for her scheduled April 14 deposition.Todd Blanche said in a statement that Bondi "led this Department with strength and conviction" and that the DOJ will "continue backing the blue, enforcing the law, and doing everything in our power to keep America safe."Like Blaze News?
