Charlize Theron went off on Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’s over-the-top wedding to Lauren Sanchez Saturday, before switching gears to rant about politics. The 49-year-old actress made the remarks while hosting the fifth annual Block Party for the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project on Saturday. “I think we might be the only people who did not get an invite to the Bezos wedding,” Theron quipped while on stage, per Page Six. “But that’s okay, because they suck and we’re cool.” The “Monster” actress voiced more of her opinions, thanking attendees for “taking the time to be a part of this, especially when the world feels like it’s burning because it is.” “Here in Los Angeles, in the U.S. and across the globe, we’re moving backwards fast,” Theron said. “Immigration policy has destroyed the lives of families, not criminals; women’s rights are becoming less and less every day; queer and trans lives are increasingly being erased; and gender-based violence is on the rise.” “This isn’t just policy, it’s personal,” she added. WASHINGTON—President Donald Trump assured faith leaders on Monday that his administration is fighting for religious liberty and peace throughout the world. “Together, we’re fighting to defend religious liberty like no administration has ever done before,” the president said. He spoke during a call with more than 10,000 faith leaders from across the country on the first Faith Office National Conference call of his second term, a senior White House official told The Daily Wire. Trump participated in several of these calls during his first term, and they include individuals of all faiths — Christians, Catholics, Jews, Muslims, and more. Participants on Monday’s call included Special Assistant to the President Jenny Korn, White House Faith Office Director Paula White Cain, who led prayers during the call, and Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. The president thanked the faith leaders for their work to help those in need across the country, and he shared some updates on the Trump administration’s efforts to protect religious freedom. Trump detailed how he moved the faith office into the White House, as he had promised, and he emphasized to the faith leaders that he sought to stop “the radical war on Christians” as soon as he entered office. “I [pardoned] the pro-life activist thrown in jail for praying and peaceful protest, and there were many of them,” he noted. He pointed out that his administration “reinstated the service members thrown out of our military over religious objections to the Biden vaccine mandates,” restoring them “to their former rank with full pay backpay and penalties.” “I set up a DOJ taskforce to eradicate anti-Christian bias — who would ever think — but that’s happening also and it has happened and nobody ever talks about that,” Trump added. He pointed to Friday’s Supreme Court ruling, where the justices ruled that schools violate religious liberty when they bar parents from opting their children out of classroom instruction involving LGBT-themed books. That was a major win for religious conservatives and for the White House, which has championed parents and their right to decide what their children are taught. “Just last Friday we had historic victory for religious liberty and parents’ rights at the Supreme Court of the United States,” Trump told the faith leaders. “Parents will now be allowed to opt out of having inappropriate books and sexual literature forced upon their children.” He also mentioned his major focus of the week: the One Big Beautiful Bill, describing to the faith leaders how it would impact children’s education, and calling it “the most pro-family legislation in modern times.” (Photo by Andrew Harnik/Getty Images) “When we pass the One, Big, Beautiful Bill will also have a tremendous victory for school choice,” he explained. “This bill is the most pro-family legislation in modern times…It also expands the Child Tax Credit and creates brand new ‘Trump Accounts’ for every newborn child helping them to get a stronger life, which is what they need. Everyone should let their congregations and members of Congress know that they support the One, Big, Beautiful Bill.” The president specifically discussed how his administration is seeking peace throughout the world, pointing to last week’s strikes on Iran, and noting that last Friday he helped sign a “historic peace agreement” ending the “terrible conflict between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.” “As we restore prosperity for American families at home, we’re also bringing peace and stability back to our world,” he told the faith leaders. “Earlier this month we carried our historic strikes out against Iran’s nuclear program and we ended the 12 Day War.”

President Donald Trump issued an executive order on Monday lifting sanctions on Syria, the latest step in warming relations between Trump and Syria’s new president, Ahmed al-Sharaa. The executive order, Providing for the Revocation of Syria Sanctions, will terminate various sanctions programs on Syria and the national emergency with respect to Syria, beginning on January 1, according to the Secretary of State Marco Rubio. “These actions reflect the President’s vision of fostering a new relationship between the United States and a Syria that is stable, unified, and at peace with itself and its neighbors,” Rubio said in a statement. “U.S. sanctions will not be an impediment to Syria’s future.” The announcement comes after Trump met with Sharaa — who toppled Syria’s anti-American dictator, Bashar al-Assad — during his visit to Gulf nations in May. After the meeting, Trump described the terrorist turned head of state as a “young attractive guy” with a “very strong past.” The meeting between Trump and Sharaa was the first meeting between an American president and a Syrian leader in 25 years. “He’s got a real shot at holding it together,” Trump said of Sharaa. “I spoke with [Turkish] President Erdogan, who is very friendly with him. He feels he’s got a shot of doing a good job. It’s a torn-up country.” Al-Assad was toppled by Sharaa and his U.S.-designated terrorist organization, Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, in December. Sharaa, who was once affiliated with Al-Qaeda and ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, had a $10 million FBI bounty on his head for almost a decade before it was lifted in 2024. Rubio said he will also take “appropriate action” with regard to the Foreign Terrorist Organization designation of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham group, and review the Specially Designated Global Terrorist designations of the group and Sharaa. Rubio will also reexamine Syria’s designation as a State Sponsor of Terrorism, enacted in 1979. “Today’s actions mark the beginning of a new chapter for the people of Syria as they work to shape a future that is safe, stable, and successful,” Rubio added. The executive order also states that Rubio will determine if the Caesar Syria Civilian Protection Act, signed by Trump in 2019, should be suspended. The act sanctioned the former Syrian government for war crimes and designated several Syrian industries, but includes a provision for the president to waive sanctions if certain conditions are met. Sanctions will remain on Assad, his associates, human rights abusers, traffickers, people linked to Syria’s past proliferation activities, ISIS and Al-Qaeda affiliates, and Iran and its terrorist proxies. The executive order will also relax some restrictions on exports to Syria. “This is in an effort to promote and support the country’s path to stability and peace,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters on Monday. “The order will remove sanctions on Syria while maintaining sanctions on the former president Assad and his associates, human rights abusers, drug traffickers, persons linked to chemical weapons activities, ISIS and their affiliates, and Iranian proxies.” According to the order, “the United States is committed to supporting a Syria that is stable, unified, and at peace with itself and neighbors” and a “Syria that does not offer a safe haven for terrorist organizations and ensures the security of its religious and ethnic minorities will support regional security and prosperity.” It adds that Syria has been transformed in the last six months since Sharaa’s government took over for Assad. Sharaa has been accused of grave human rights violations and reportedly plans to impose strict sharia law in the country. But since taking office, he has also sought to reinvent himself as a moderate force for a tolerant Syria. He has repeatedly denied that he was a terrorist, including in a PBS interview where he said “it’s a political label that carries no truth or credibility.” Sharaa has worked hard to grow relations with Trump since he took office, including signaling he would be willing to normalize relations with Israel, allow the United States to have access to Syrian oil and gas, and reportedly stating he wants a Trump Tower in Damascus.

Billionaire tech entrepreneur Elon Musk said on Monday he will actively work toward ensuring GOP lawmakers who vote to pass the “One Big, Beautiful Bill” despite campaigning on promises to rein in government spending will lose their primaries. The warning from Musk, whose alliance with President Donald Trump crumbled several weeks ago after he began openly criticizing the legislation, came as Republicans worked toward getting the 900-page-plus measure passed by the end of this week through the budget reconciliation process. “Every member of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame!” Musk said in a post on X. “And they will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth.” Such a move would mark a huge turnaround for Musk, who spent more than $250 million to help Trump and other Republicans win elections last year before spearheading the current administration’s Department of Government Efficiency effort through last month with a stated mission of getting rid of waste, fraud, and abuse. Musk also chided members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus and begrudged how the bill may phase out green energy tax credits that could impact customers of his Tesla business. He even proposed the creation of a new political party. “It is obvious with the insane spending of this bill, which increases the debt ceiling by a record FIVE TRILLION DOLLARS that we live in a one-party country – the PORKY PIG PARTY!! Time for a new political party that actually cares about the people,” he said, adding later, “If this insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day. Thom Tillis (R-NC), announced on Sunday he would not seek re-election. Another is Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY). GOP leaders in the House and Senate are racing to get the legislation, which aims to fulfill many of Trump’s spending and tax-cut goals for his second term, to the president’s desk by his stated deadline of July 4. Topline items include extending the 2017 tax cuts set to expire at the end of this year, boosting funds for border security, and cutting red tape for American energy production. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) said in a post on X the bill will be “JET FUEL” for the United States economy. “It makes the Trump tax cuts permanent, eliminates taxes on tips and overtime, provides tax relief for seniors, and slashes regulations to spur job creation and economic growth,” he said. While the legislation did initially pass out of the House in late May, provisions in the bill have undergone a makeover, in part because the Senate parliamentarian determined they did not adhere to rules for reconciliation. As of press time, the process was ongoing as the upper chamber worked through a vote-a-rama on amendments. Some, but not all proposed reforms, including an offering from Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) to “punish states that give Medicaid benefits to illegal aliens convicted or charged with crimes like murder or sex trafficking,” do not appear to be making it into the final product. Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX), one of the Freedom Caucus members singled out by Musk, took a swipe at Senate Republicans for how their version of the bill is shaping up. “We’d be in a much better spot if Republican Senators (applying for K St) showed half as much passion for tackling $37 trillion in debt and inflation as they do for preserving [Former President Joe] Biden’s green subsidies,” Roy said in a post on X.

King Charles reportedly made it very clear that both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are “at the heart” of his funeral plans. The king also wants his grandchildren, Princess Lilibet and Prince Archie. Per the Post, King Charles expects Prince Harry to walk with his brother, who will be King, at the front of the procession from Westminster Abbey and through the streets of London. Harry and Megan will also be part of the family vigil. At this point, King Charles focuses on more than just his funeral and continues to live his busy life. New York’s socialist mayoral candidate’s ideas threaten to bring back the post-George Floyd riots surge in crime. Of all the terrible policies 33-year-old New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani has embraced over the last five years, none threaten New York City more than his ideas about the police and law and order. To a certain extent, they New York assemblyman’s socialist ramblings about economics are less threatening because New York taxing and spending policies are handled by the Assembly and they are already both extremely high. Mamdani’s government-run grocery stores will likely just end up being a taxpayer-funded joke rather than being truly disastrous. In a sea of other, almost certainly more functional privately-run businesses, I’m guessing New Yorkers will generally avoid the government option. Where Mamdani will have a great deal of power to do damage is with his ideas about the police. Though he’s tried to soften his position about defunding the police a bit in recent days, Mamdani has made it clear on social media over the years that he’s hostile to traditional policing. Taking money from the NYPD and giving it to social workers is defunding the police whether Mamdani admits it or not. A similar program was tried under former New York Mayor Bill de Blasio and it amounted to a gargantuan scam that did nothing to improve public safety. Not only was de Blasio’s 2015 program a colossal failure, but it turns out that police officers are quite competent at handling “mental health emergencies.” “In 2023, officers responded to nearly 175,000 emotionally disturbed person calls,” wrote Carolyn Gorman at City Journal “They used force in less than 1 percent of those encounters. The NYPD has years of experience successfully responding to crisis calls.” NYPD is understandably getting nervous about the possibility that Mamdani might become mayor and implement his absurd agenda. “The city would be totally unsafe for people who live here,” said Scott Munro, president of the NYPD Detectives’ Endowment Association, according to the New York Post. “I go to bed and worry about the phone ringing. I’m worried about my members getting killed. I don’t want to plan any funerals.” According to the New York Post, top officials at NYPD are worried they will see an exodus of police officers if Mamdani wins his election. I will say, as a resident of New York, my greatest worry is that by essentially returning to the dumb anti-police ideas of the Great Awokening there will be another big crime spike in the city. New York has only now begun to recover from the 2020 crime surge, though many crime rates to start the year remain much higher than they were in 2019. And common street crime is only part of the equation. What can be expected from a mayor who refuses to denounce the phrase “globalize the intifada”? Will he deploy NYPD when protesters get out of control as they have at Columbia University? Now, some of Mamdani’s opponents—typically non-New Yorkers—have argued that it may be good for New York City to elect a socialist mayor. The leftist denizens of the city will get what they want good and hard, including high crime, and it will serve as an example to the nation of what not to do. I disagree, and not just because I live in the city. The world has endless examples of Mamdani-style policies failing, spectacularly. It’s not like this would be the only time that real socialism has been tried. It’s an experiment that gets tried time and time again and damages societies for generations. Just look at the example of the social workers instead of cops program that cost New York over a billion dollars. That program was launched a decade ago, failed, and now it’s being proposed again. Globalist elites, like Mamdani and his parents, won’t really suffer the consequences of these actions. They just move in, make a mess, then move on to somewhere else when things don’t work out. Instead, what will happen is the Left will see Mamdani as an effective option to gain power and will try to float similar candidates elsewhere. And a lot of innocent people will be hurt, not just the “billionaires” who Mamdani has created as a phony punching bag.
