The Republican National Committee, along with the Michigan Republican Party, filed a lawsuit against the battleground state’s Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson on Tuesday, alleging the Democrat violated state law over guidance she issued for absentee ballots. The RNC’s lawsuit alleges that Benson issued guidance contradictory to Michigan law that requires absentee ballot stub numbers to match the numbers in the poll book and on the ballot return envelope to be counted, Just The News reported. RNC election integrity staff said that they saw some absentee ballots being counted with missing stub numbers during Michigan’s August primary elections, the party said. The lawsuit accuses Benson of instructing “local clerks and election inspectors to process and tabulate absent voter ballots where the stub is missing or the number on the stub does not match the number in the poll book or on the ballot return envelope as ‘challenged’ ballots rather than reject them as required by Michigan law.” “Secretary Benson continues to expose Michigan’s elections to cheating and fraud, forcing Republicans to file suit again to protect the vote for Michiganders,” RNC Chairman Michael Whatley said in a statement. “We will continue our efforts to make it easy to vote and hard to cheat in Michigan – and around the country – through November 5.” Absentee ballots will start being mailed to voters in the Great Lakes State this week. Christopher Thomas, a former state elections director, told Michigan Public that he expects around 40% of Michigan voters to participate in this year’s election through mail-in voting, ballot drop box, or early in-person voting. Benson faces two other election-related lawsuits filed by the RNC earlier this year. In March, the RNC sued the Secretary of State, alleging she has not maintained accurate voter rolls. A second lawsuit filed in March accused Benson of instructing local election officials to presume a voter’s signature was legitimate. Am I Racist? While Benson continues to circumvent our election laws for her own political agenda, we will fight tirelessly so Michiganders have no doubts when they start to go to the polls.” Michigan is a vital battleground state in the upcoming election and was one of the states whose results in 2020 were heavily scrutinized by Trump and many of his supporters. Biden took the state in the 2020 election after Trump had won Michigan over Hillary Clinton in 2016. On September 19, the Associated Press published an article with the headline, “These evangelicals for Harris are voting their values—by backing Kamala Harris.” This headline intrigued me. I wondered what values evangelical Christians could possibly share with Harris, since evangelicals live by the Bible and especially the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have my suspicions that these “evangelicals” featured by the mainstream media are not what they seem. The intended effect here may be to cause enough doubt among true evangelical voters that they stay home on Election Day. Although those voters would not vote for Harris, they may no longer feel comfortable voting for Trump, either. Yes, Donald J. Trump’s flaws are well known, though permit me to point out that many of his alleged and most egregious transgressions occurred while he was yet a Democrat. Since Christianity is a “come as you are” religion, most Christians understand that people are not bound by the mistakes they make during the journey of life. What some Christians struggle with is the contradictions that they see within Trump and the Republican Party more broadly. The GOP’s platform has retreated from its non-negotiable stances on the sanctity of human life and the importance of marriage as a permanent union between one man and one woman. Given the divorce rate in America, the standards were perhaps too high for the latter to carry much sway. Even so, the Republican platform more closely aligns with those convictions shaped by Biblical truths than the Democrats’ alternative. Let’s look at Vice President Kamala Harris’s current policy stance on certain issues versus her platform on those issues during her presidential bid (she has assured her donors and followers that her values remain the same — wink-wink!) Harris supports the killing of unborn babies at any stage of development. Reproductive freedom, the euphemism for abortion, comes with no limits in her mind. In 2019, Harris is on record in an American Civil Liberties Union questionnaire stating that she would cut financial support for Immigration and Customs Enforcement and offer gender transition surgeries to border crossers. Since the Biden-Harris Administration has tried to rewrite Title IX of the Civil Rights Act to prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity (now blocked by the Supreme Court), it is a safe bet that she supports men competing in women’s sports. Former President Trump has made it clear that he opposes biological males participating in women’s sports and would eliminate the expansion of the law that allows men to compete against women. Despite Democrats and Republicans moving closer together on pivotal issues, Bible-believing Christians would still find more like-minded people in the Republican Party. With all that in mind, the question still begs: does Harris offer a certain appeal for evangelicals, and should the Trump team be concerned? One such Harris-friendly evangelical group, Evangelicals for Harris, is targeting Christians with ads and arguments meant to persuade them that Harris is closer to their views than Trump. I decided to dig a little deeper into Evangelicals for Harris to determine if they are disaffected Republicans who believe that Democrats best represent Christian values. What I discovered takes us back to 2008 and the decision that progressives made to go after the religious vote following the election of Barack Obama. First of all, Obama kept in place Bush’s Faith-Based and Community Initiative that allowed churches big and small to feed from the federal trough. It provided federal grants to churches who were providing social services to underserved populations. This meant that some of the black megachurches whose pastors had endorsed George W. Bush quickly switched their allegiances to Obama. Under Obama, money flowed to any organization or group that could make a religious claim. Not surprisingly, that’s when we saw the emergence of liberal evangelical groups supported by private and public funds. Federal dollars eroded at the common understanding of evangelicalism, making the meaning fuzzier and fuzzier. It was no longer just about Jesus and the Gospel. Evangelicalism was opened up to progressive interests: its purposes now included advocacy for global warming and reproductive freedom. This attracted the dark designs of atheists bent on remaking America in their godless image, such as George Soros. A 2010 op-ed by Mark Tooley, President of the Institute on Religion and Democracy, documented Soros’ influence well: “George Soros’s Evangelicals.” His article focused most prominently on Richard Cizik, the former head of The National Association of Evangelicals, who had represented the organization in Washington, D.C. for almost three decades. Two years earlier, Cizik had been forced to resign from that position but had reinvented himself with a return to power with a new organization he founded, New Evangelical Partnership for the Common Good. Now, Cizik serves as the executive director of Evangelicals for Democracy. Soros’s Open Society Foundation funded Cizik as well as another progressive “evangelical” Jim Wallis, the theologian who founded and edited the Sojourners Magazine and also received money from the Open Society Institute. The influence of those like Soros wouldn’t be possible if existing evangelical powerhouses weren’t receptive to them. Using Marxist and Fabian socialists-inspired strategies, America’s churches (including the Southern Baptist, America’s largest Protestant organization) have been infiltrated with progressive evangelicals who are indeed shifting the organization and its member churches to the left. In 2019, the Southern Baptists shocked the world with its adoption of Resolution 9, “on Critical Race Theory and Intersectionality,” clearly concepts that its members were clueless about. One provision of the tortuous resolution stated that “critical race theory and intersectionality should only be employed as analytical tools subordinate to Scripture—not as transcendent ideological frameworks.’ Thereby, it brought into its midst a godless approach rooted in conflict theory. When the organization’s conservatives attempted to revisit the issue and insist on the authority of scripture unaided with Marxist tools, leaders of progressive black churches like Reverend Dwight McKissic, A Baptist Pastor, from Texas threatened to leave the organization. Ironically, McKissic is one of the Evangelicals for Harris quoted in the AP article I mentioned earlier. According to him, there is “no moral superiority of one party over another.” For proof, McKissic cited “the GOP’s decision to ‘abandon a commitment to ban abortion with a constitutional amendment’ and to soften its stance against same-sex marriage in its party platform.” Although the authors of that article would have you believe that McKissic is an evangelical Christian who sees commonality with Harris, there is no evidence I am aware of that McKissic ever supported Trump, or the Republican Party once Obama came on the scene. Reverend Jim Ball, Executive Vice President for Policy and Climate Change at the Evangelical Environmental Network, is the organizer of Evangelicals for Harris. He has stated that “Diversity is a strength for us. We’re not looking for total unanimity. We’re looking for unity. We can be united while we have differences.” It is these connections that lead me to believe that much-publicized evangelicals supporting Harris such as Evangelicals for Harris are, in truth, wolves in sheep’s clothing: progressives seeking to pull away Christian Trump supporters by pointing out his lack of humility, his “meanness”, waffling on issues like the sanctity of human life and the sacredness of traditional marriage. Whether they are successful at making any serious inroads into the traditional evangelical base remains to be seen. What is clear is that part of the strategy is to create disillusionment in the followers of Jesus Christ, hoping that this group will stay at home on election day. Their joke comes just over a week after a second assassination attempt on Trump — at his golf course in Palm Beach, Florida — was foiled by Secret Service agents, and just over two months after the former president was shot in the ear at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Two other rally-goers were gravely injured at the July 13th rally, and firefighter Corey Comperatore was shot and killed while using his body to protect his family. Am I Racist? In the weeks since, with the aid of whistleblowers, Congress has been investigating the United States Secret Service over security failures ahead of and during both the Pennsylvania rally and Trump’s golf outing in Palm Beach. Despite calls to tone down the rhetoric — especially since a second attempt was made on Trump’s life — Democrats and their media surrogates have continued to claim that Trump is an “existential threat” to democracy. In addition, they have repeatedly claimed that Trump is the only one using violent and extreme rhetoric. After the second assassination attempt, however, the Trump campaign released a list of more than 50 instances of Democrats using extreme rhetoric and directing it specifically at him.

President Joe Biden did not deny this week that Democrats, led by former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), forced him out of the presidential race over the summer. Biden was asked the question by Alyssa Farah Griffin during a fawning interview Wednesday morning on ABC News’ “The View” after Democrats and the media launched an intense campaign to pressure Biden out of the race following his disastrous debate performance in late June against former President Donald Trump. “Did you feel that your hand was forced?” Griffin asked. “And what is your relationship with Speaker Pelosi now?” “My relationship is fine. Look, I, I never fully believed the assertions that somehow there was this overwhelming reluctance of my running again,” Biden claimed. “I didn’t sense that. And although the polling, they said, ‘Biden’s polling was different,’ the fact of the matter is, my polling was about, you know, we’re always within range of beating this guy.” Am I Racist? The Justice Department is seeking prison time for two pro-life Christians convicted of violating federal law for their roles in a peaceful protest at a Tennessee abortion facility. Pro-life activists Chester Gallagher, Heather Idoni, and Eva Edl are all set to be sentenced this week for their participation in a sit-in protest at a Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, abortion facility in March 2021. The Justice Department has asked for federal judges to impose a prison sentence on both Gallagher and Idoni, while asking for Edl to be given probation.  Gallagher and Idoni were convicted in January in Nashville of engaging in a conspiracy against rights and violating the FACE Act, a Clinton-era law that makes it a federal crime to physically block access to an abortion facility. Edl, an 89-year-old communist concentration camp survivor, was convicted of violating the FACE Act in April.  In pre-sentencing filings, the Biden DOJ has asked Judge Aleta Trauger to sentence Gallagher, 75, to 20 months in prison and three years of probation, and to sentence Idoni to eight months in prison and three years of supervised release. The Justice Department will allow Idoni to concurrently serve sentences for conspiracy and FACE Act charges, but only after she completes her two-year sentence for a similar conviction out of Washington, D.C.  Trauger and Idoni are set to be sentenced on Thursday and Friday, respectively. The Justice Department has asked for 3 years of probation for Edl, who will be sentenced Thursday morning by Judge Chip Frensley. Edl was convicted in August of a conspiracy charge for a pro-life protest in Detroit and, could face prison upon sentencing.  The conspiracy charge, a Reconstruction-era law designed to counter the Ku Klux Klan, carries stiff penalties of over 10 years in prison and hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines. Pro-life activists around the country have already received over five years in prison for the charge, which was first applied to pro-lifers by the Biden-Harris administration.  During the protest over which they were charged, the pro-lifers sang hymns, prayed, urged women not to get abortions, and sat in front of doors in a hallway outside the Carafem Health Center Clinic.  Am I Racist? The Biden-Harris administration’s prosecutions of peaceful activists are being challenged by the Thomas More Society, which is working to appeal the Nashville and D.C. FACE Act and conspiracy convictions, and convince a federal judge to dismiss the Detroit convictions.  In a video briefing Thursday night attended by The Daily Wire, Thomas More Society attorney Steve Crampton was optimistic about stopping the targeted prosecution of pro-lifers under the FACE Act.  “We’re going after FACE, we hope to knock it completely out of the water on these appeals. And we’re also going after this conspiracy against rights statute and we think we’re going get that thing knocked out of the park as well,” Crampton said.  He said that data shows 97% of all prosecutions have been against pro-lifers, even though the law was supposed to protect churches and pregnancy centers when it was passed in the 1990s. “Instead the Biden-Harris administration has brought a grand total of 25% percent of all the FACE cases ever brought since its inception in 1994 in the last two years and targeted pro-lifers,” he said.  Crampton said that he believed they would win on appeal, but that he was ready to go to the Supreme Court, which has never heard a FACE Act case before, if necessary.  Because of the selective prosecution and overturning of Roe v. Wade, Crampton argued that the law is unconstitutional.  “FACE always was about protecting one thing and that was abortion,” Crampton said. “Since the Dobbs decision and the overturn of Roe, abortion is no longer recognized as a federally protected right. So FACE is an act without really a purpose.” He also argued that the Supreme Court’s decision in Fischer, which limited the Justice Department’s ability to prosecute January 6 protesters, could be applied in the pro-life cases. In both cases, the Justice Department resurrected an old law to pursue harsh penalties against protesters in a different context than that with which the law originally dealt.

Meta chief executive Mark Zuckerberg has acknowledged he “messed up” by letting his companies Facebook and Meta get too involved in politics. Meta owns Facebook, Instagram, and Whats App. Zuckerberg spoke at a podcast event in San Francisco earlier this month at which he bemoaned the fact the his companies and their employees had weighed in too much about political matters. “The political environment, I think I didn’t have much sophistication around, and I think I just fundamentally misdiagnosed the problem,” Zuckerberg said, according to The New York Times. “I think it’s going to take another 10 years or so for us to fully work through that cycle before our brand is back to the place that it could have been, if I hadn’t messed up in the first place.” Attempting to establish a positive relationship with former President Trump, Zuckerberg has spoken with him twice in the last few months. According to the Times, at a conference this summer, Zuckerberg said he “regretted hiring employees at his philanthropy who tried to push him further to the left on some causes” Am I Racist? In an August 26 letter to Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH), chairman of the House Committee on the Judiciary, Zuckerberg wrote: In 2021, senior officials from the Biden administration, including the White House, repeatedly pressured our teams for months to censor certain COVID-19 content, including humor and satire, and expressed a lot of frustration with our teams when we didn’t agree. Ultimately, it was our decision whether or not to take content down, and we own our decisions including COVID-19-related changes we made to our enforcement in the wake of thus pressure. I believe the government pressure was wrong, and I regret that we were not more outspoken about it. Zuckerberg has hired Republican strategist Brian Baker to ameliorate his position with right-wing media and Republican officials, the Times noted. After Meta removed images of the assassination attempt on former President Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, Zuckerberg called Trump to apologize.

Jennifer Aniston became a victim of a Los Angeles Police Department swatting incident after someone called in a fake wellness check on the “Friends” star in the late hours of the evening last Friday. Authorities are investigating the swatting incident after the LAPD responded to the 55-year-old actress’ home in Los Angeles following a call that compelled them to perform a wellness check, TMZ reported. Police told the outlet they got a call from someone claiming that their friend was “not doing well” and reportedly alluded to depression or worse. Authorities then responded after midnight to the home, not knowing it was Aniston’s. Once they arrived and were met by the actress’ security, the LAPD realized what had happened. They also spoke to Aniston, who was able to reassure them she was fine. It is not the first swatting incident that the LAPD has been dealing with. A previous Daily Wire report noted that amid a massive rise in crime in places like Los Angeles, more celebrities were hiring at-home bodyguards and personal protection due to laws that security experts say have “emboldened the criminals.” “The Citywide property crimes statistics showed a 3.5% increase in 2023. Motor vehicle thefts increased by 2% as compared to 2022,” according to 2023 LAPD end-of-year crime statistics report. President and CEO of the L.A.-based World Protection Group Kent Moyer previously told The Daily Wire, it’s not just a bump in business, but an “explosion” as more celebrities seek protection amid skyrocketing crime rates. “It’s an explosion of business,” Moyer told The Daily Wire, noting things like “home invasion robberies” being up and saying “people are afraid.” Moyer said California laws such as “Prop. 47 and no cash bail” have “emboldened the criminals.” The CEO also explained that things like “Defund the Police” have forced members of law enforcement into early retirement.
