What Were the Popular Fashion Trends of the 1950s?

The 1950s were a decade of such iconic fashion trends that we often see 50s-inspired Halloween costumes, photoshoots, and retro-themed fashion accounts that pay homage to these styles. A huge proponent of fashion is and was Christian Dior. Dior made a famous fashion statement in the 1940s and 1950s that was called The New Look. The New Look revolutionized women’s fashion. The New Look was famous for it’s hourglass shape. Structure was built into the garments themselves to give the padded shoulder, slim waist, and wide skirt look. Men’s styles included tweed coats, sweater vests, trench coats, patterned button-ups, hats, and pressed trousers. Men also took a lot of fashion inspiration from the Teddy Boy style. This style embodied the alternative and punk styles of the era. Poodle skirts, capri trousers, sling-back heels, pencil skirts, and hats were also commonly seen and worn on the youth and for more casual outfits. Let’s take a look at some pictures of these popular looks. A group of friends pose in their nice dinner outfits and trenchcoats. Minnesota National Guard Releases Statement on Tim Walz's 'Stolen Valor' Scandal

Elected Democrats have grown so accustomed to lying with impunity that they probably think nothing of it. Fortunately, for Republicans and conservatives, they seem to have blundered into one of the few remaining lies that Americans will not tolerate. On Wednesday, Army Lt. Col. Kristen Augé, the Minnesota National Guard’s...

POLL: Senate Democrat Trails Republican Challenger In Critical Race

A poll released Thursday shows Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT) trailing Republican challenger Tim Sheehy by two points. The Montana Democrat is widely regarded as the most vulnerable incumbent senator in the 2024 election. The Emerson College Polling/The Hill survey has Trump-backed Sheehy ahead of Tester 48 percent to 46 percent. Five percent remain undecided. The poll also marks a shift from March, when the same pollster found Tester up by 2 points over his Republican challenger. Because the gap falls within the survey’s 3-point margin of error, the race remains a potential tie between the two Senate race rivals. The survey found Donald Trump ahead of Kamala Harris in Montana 55 percent to 40 percent, with another five percent undecided. “When undecided voters are asked the candidate they lean toward, Trump’s overall support increases to 58%, and Harris’ to 43%. With third-party candidates on the ballot, 54% support Trump, 39% Harris, and 5% support Robert F. Kennedy Jr.; 3% are undecided,” Emerson College Polling noted. “Since the March 2024 Emerson poll in Montana, Trump’s support has decreased a point, while Harris improved five points on Biden’s 35%,” Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling, said. New @EmersonPolling /@thehill poll finds Sheehy leading Tester 48-46% in Montana. Falls within MOE of +/- 3%. https://t.co/BEesrfPBhg — Brandon Conradis (@BConradis) August 8, 2024 From The Washington Times: About 5% of the polled voters were undecided in the battleground race, a 9 percentage-point drop from the previous survey conducted by Emerson College in April. “The share of undecided voters has decreased from 14% to 5% as November draws closer, and Sheehy has benefited with a six-point increase in support, while Tester’s support has only increased by two points,” said Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College polling. The poll was conducted Aug. 5-6 and sampled responses from 1,000 Montana voters. About 43% of the surveyed voters were Republicans.

90,000 Inactive Voters Removed From Voter Rolls In Strategic County, State’s Republican Party Announces

The Nevada Republican Party announced a significant voter roll clean-up in Clark County, the state’s most-populated county. Clark County is home to approximately 2.3 million residents. “The Nevada Republican Party is proud to announce the successful clean-up of voter rolls in Clark County. This achievement is the result of dedicated efforts by the NVGOP, the Republican National Committee, Trump Campaign, and numerous grassroots organizations, in collaboration with the Nevada Secretary of State and Clark Registrar of Voters. This concerted effort has led to the removal of over 90,000 voters who should no longer be considered active, significantly enhancing the accuracy and integrity of the voter rolls,” a press release from the Nevada GOP read. “The Executive Board of the NVGOP expressed their satisfaction with the outcome, stating, ‘We are incredibly pleased with the recent voter roll clean-up in Clark County. Our team has worked tirelessly to ensure a fair and free election this November. We look forward to seeing the results of the voter roll clean-ups in the other 16 counties,'” the press release continued. “As we approach the upcoming November elections, the NVGOP will continue to work closely with state and local officials to ensure that voter rolls across all counties are accurate and up-to-date,” it added. “HUGE WIN: 90,000 inactive voters have been removed from the rolls in Clark County, Nevada as a result of our efforts to Protect The Vote. Election integrity starts with clean voter rolls, and that’s why we’ve brought litigation in key states to compel outcomes just like this,” GOP Chairman Michael Whatley said. Biden stole it by ~33,000 votes in 2020 so this would more than cover the gap Dems love rigging elections by submitting ballots for inactive voters they know aren’t alive or living in the state anymore Harder to do now!” DC Draino commented. 90,000 inactive voters removed in Clark County, Nevada Biden stole it by ~33,000 votes in 2020 so this would more than cover the gap Dems love rigging elections by submitting ballots for inactive voters they know aren’t alive or living in the state anymore Harder to do now! https://t.co/K9NW3R8mUw — DC_Draino (@DC_Draino) August 7, 2024 Just in: 90,000 inactive voters were removed from the voter rolls in Clark County, Nevada. pic.twitter.com/S6UA41Ap5o — The Calvin Coolidge Project (@TheCalvinCooli1) August 7, 2024 In related news, Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose, a Republican, announced that “county boards of elections are being directed to remove an additional 499 non-citizen registrations from Ohio’s voter rolls.” Battleground State Axes Approximately 500 Non-Citizen Registrations From Voter Rolls “The latest action comes as part of a multi-phase, comprehensive audit of the statewide voter registration database ahead of the November general election,” a press release from LaRose’s office read. “I swore an oath to uphold the constitution of our state, and that document clearly states that only United States citizens can participate in Ohio elections,” LaRose said. “That means I’m duty-bound to make sure people who haven’t yet earned citizenship in this country aren’t voting. If or when they do become citizens, I’ll be the first one to congratulate them and welcome them to the franchise, but until then the law requires us to remove ineligible registrations to prevent illegal voting,” he added.
