Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz have launched an "On the Road to Chicago" bus tour a day ahead of the Democratic National Convention (DNC). 

Tens of thousands of anti-Israel protesters are expected to march through Chicago this week in demonstrations targeting the Democratic National Convention (DNC). Roughly 100,000 protesters are expected to take part in seven marches and rallies across the city as the Democratic Party holds its convention where Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to become the official Democratic nominee for president. A number of unpermitted rallies are expected to take place, as well, according to the New York Post. The DNC will begin Monday and run through Thursday as Democrats hope to unite the party behind its new nominee, Harris, who took over after President Joe Biden departed from the race. Biden left the race under heavy criticism from elected Democrats and media pundits after a June 27 debate with former president Donald Trump. The largest rally expected to hit the city and the DNC is the “March on the DNC 2024.” The rally is scheduled to take place Monday and Thursday and is expected to draw around 30,000 participants. It was organized by a coalition of 125 anti-Israel groups, according to the Post. Hatem Abudayyeh, chair of the U.S. Palestinian Community Network, has pushed monikers such as “Genocide Joe” and “Killer Kamala” to pressure the Democratic White House over the war in Israel. Abudayyeh is also an organizer of protests to take place during the DNC. “It’s still about ending the genocide,” Abudayyeh told The Washington Post. The protest organizer said that while planning for the protests began when Biden was at the top of the ticket, they will continue despite him being replaced for Harris. WATCH THE TRAILER FOR ‘AM I RACIST?’ — A MATT WALSH COMEDY ON DEI “Our target is the Democratic Party and the leadership of the party and ‘Killer Kamala’ is one of them.” Abudayyeh said. “We feel that their administration is responsible for this ongoing war and genocide.” Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson said the city is “ready for this moment” when massive groups of protesters are expected to sow chaos across the city. “It has to be safe and peaceful and vibrant and energetic,” Johnson told The New York Times. The Democratic Party has been rocked by infighting over Israel’s war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip and rising tensions with other terror groups and Iran in the Middle East. Many on the  Democrats’ left flank of support has pressured the administration and party to push for an ending to the war in Gaza, likely leaving the terror group Hamas intact.

A suspected Islamic terrorist accidentally blew himself up in Tel Aviv, Israel on Sunday night while he was transporting a bomb that authorities believe was either meant for a suicide attack or to be placed and remotely detonated. The incident happened at around 8 p.m. when Israel Police’s emergency hotline was flooded with calls about an explosion that happened. “It has been confirmed as a bomb explosion,” police said. “As a result of the explosion, one person, whose identity is still unknown, was killed, and another person was moderately injured according to medical sources and was transported to a hospital for treatment.” Footage from a nearby security camera captured the powerful blast. Illinois Democratic Governor JB Pritzker refused to say over the weekend that it was wrong for Democrats to ignore the will of the voters and force President Joe Biden off the ticket because Democrats “weren’t feeling” good vibes from Biden’s campaign. Pritzker made the remarks during a Sunday interview on CNN’s “State of the Union” when asked about comments made by former Biden chief of staff Ron Klain. “I do think the president was pushed by public calls from elected officials for him to drop out, from donors calling him to drop out. Sunday political affairs programming switched gears as the networks prepare to cover (or fawn over) this week’s Democratic National Convention in Chicago. With the spotlight on the Democratic ticket, there was nary a mention of the various and sundry scandals surrounding the Democratic vice presidential candidate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. This isn’t necessarily a new thing. As our own Curtis Houck noted, the networks are ignoring both Walz’s DUI and his Stolen Valor misrepresentations of service in Iraq and retirement from the Minnesota Army National Guard as a Command Sergeant Major. The Sunday shows followed a largely similar track, except for ABC This Week. Watch as host Martha Radddatz directly askins Illiniois Senator and Purple Heart recipient Tammy Duckworth about Walz’s service, and about remarks made by former President Donald Trump equating the Presidential Medal of Freedom to the Congressional Medal of Honor: MARTHA RADDATZ: You- you talk about Tim Walz, but there's been controversy about his -- his military service as well, saying once that he carried weapons in war which he did not, and he said he misspoke, but ABC News found at least one occasion where he didn't correct an interviewer who said that Walz had turned -- had served in Afghanistan. Do you have any problems with that? Should he have corrected him? TAMMY DUCKWORTH: Well, you know, we say, we- when you speak oftentimes, you say things, but remember. This man served 24 years in uniform. He was a re- he's a retired Command Sergeant Major. I'm excited to have a retired Command Sergeant Major in the Vice President’s Office, in the Situation Room when we look at issues of conflicts around the world. It's going to be great to have that experience and frankly, it's despicable what Republicans are doing. The same party that thinks that Donald Trump, who dodged the draft five times, who thinks veterans are suckers and losers, that's who they think is better than someone who served 24 years in uniform protecting and defending us every single day, and frankly I don't have a single problem with Tim Walz. He's, in fact, somebody that I think will be very good for America to have in the situation room with his vast military experience.  Duckworth was awarded the Purple Heart as a result of the Black Hawk helicopter she was flying being downed by a rocket-propelled grenade fired by Iraqi insurgents, which resulted in the loss of her legs and severe injuries to her arm. Her heroic service is without question. Her choice to paper over the many ways in which Walz misrepresented his service subsequent to ditching his battalion, in service of partisan presidential politics, stands on its own. And, perhaps, this part of the reason why Raddatz asks the question to begin with, on the eve of the DNC. Although she did mention that there was more than one instance of Walz wrongfully claiming he was in a war zone. And yet, this was the lone significant mention of Walz’s scandals on the Sunday shows.
