‘I SURVIVED’: Late-Term Abortion Survivor Busts Left’s Abortion Myths

A survivor of a late-term abortion‚ Melissa Ohden‚ shared her story in an interview with The Daily Signal.  “I survived a failed saline-infusion abortion‚” Ohden told senior reporter Mary Margaret Olohan on Thursday‚ “about four years after [1973’s] Roe v. Wade.”  “The intent of that toxic salt solution was to poison and scald me to death‚” she said‚ “It was the most common procedure back in the ’70s … [it] involved injecting a toxic salt solution into the amniotic fluid surrounding me in the womb.”  Ohden was born in 1977‚ during which 1.32 million abortions occurred in the United States‚ in the aftermath of the Roe V. Wade ruling by the Supreme Court that made abortion legal nationwide.  Elaborating upon the saline-infusion abortion process‚ the survivor said‚ “It typically lasted about 72 hours. If the child was fortunate enough‚ their life was ended within about the first 24 hours.”   “I actually soaked in it for five days‚” she said.   According to Ohden‚ her mother was 19 when she conceived her daughter. Ohden’s parents were engaged at the time. “Abortion was forced upon my birth mom‚” she said.   .@melissaohden says she was 31 weeks when her birth mother tried to abort her. She survived after being soaked in poison injected into her mother's womb for five whole days in a failed saline infusion abortion. These stories are real. https://t.co/hoyM20P6nq— Mary Margaret Olohan (@MaryMargOlohan) March 14‚ 2024 Referring to the failed abortion‚ Ohden said‚ “I now know that during those five days they started to think that my birth mom might lose her life‚ because the abortion was taking too long.”  “This is one of those stubborn facts‚” she said‚ “that the abortion industry doesn’t like to talk about … . Abortion is intending to take a child’s life‚ and it puts the women’s life at risk as well.”   “On the fifth day of that abortion procedure‚ they induced her to labor‚” Ohden said‚ “that’s when I was accidentally born alive.”   Reporter Olohan asked the abortion survivor: “How is it affecting your quality of life?”  “I am not who people think I am‚ and that’s OK‚” Ohden responded. “Most of us‚ if you passed us on the street‚ you wouldn’t know the things that we’ve survived.”   “Most of us carry very internal scars … the emotional‚ the mental‚ the spiritual‚” she said.   Pro-life activists Melissa Ohden (right) and Gianna Jessen (left)‚ pro-life lawyer James Bopp (second from left)‚ and director and senior fellow in the Program for the Study of Reproductive Justice at Yale Law School’s Information Society Project Priscilla Smith (third from left) testify at a hearing of the House Judiciary Committee on Sept. 9‚ 2015. The committee held a hearing titled “Planned Parenthood Exposed: Examining the Horrific Abortion Practices at the Nation’s Largest Abortion Provider.” (Photo: Alex Wong/Getty Images) Olohan asked‚ “As an abortion survivor‚ how do you feel when you see this kind of rhetoric‚ ‘This choice matters‚’ or ‘It’s up to the woman’?”  “My greatest pain came from knowing what our culture said about abortion‚” Ohden said.  Have an opinion about this article? Kellyanne Conway Tells GOP: Stop Saying Democrats Support Abortion Up Until Birth

GOP campaign consultant Kellyanne Conway urged Republicans to stop highlighting that their Democratic opponents support unfettered abortions of unborn babies‚ suggesting instead that Republicans focus on consensus. Conway laid out an abortion-related political strategy Wednesday during Politico’s Health Care Summit‚ at which she also touched on her support for both TikTok and in vitro fertilization (IVF). Conway emphasized that she is “100% pro-life” and encouraged Democratic lawmakers and commentators to “stop being science-deniers” and “stop pretending you don’t know what you see on a sonogram.” She pointed out that Americans‚ when polled more granularly on abortion‚ are both supportive of abortion exceptions and supportive of protecting unborn babies that can feel pain. But Conway‚ who formerly served as Donald Trump’s senior adviser‚ also said that she does not encourage Republicans to point out that their opponents support abortion up until birth—though the Democratic Party and most Democratic politicians have repeatedly refused to specify any protections for the unborn that they would support. “Notice how I did not say‚ and counsel clients against saying‚ ‘Democrats are for abortion up until the moment of birth.’ You know why that’s not the best way to say it?” she asked. “Nobody knows anybody … who is about to give birth and says ‘You know what? I don’t really like stretch marks. I’m not really ready to have another person in my life. I changed my mind.’ Nobody knows anybody like that.” Conway then went on to imply that Trump was speaking metaphorically when he said to failed 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton: “If you go with what Hillary is saying‚ in the ninth month‚ you can take the baby and rip the baby out of the womb of the mother just prior to the birth of the baby.” “That’s sort of a metaphor for who is really extreme here‚ and people reflexively said‚ ‘Oooh‚ could that be true? And I think it changed a lot of the conversation‚” Conway explained. She did not immediately respond to a request for further comment for this article. .@KellyannePolls claims Trump was speaking metaphorically when he said in 2016 that Hillary supports very late term abortions.Trump at the time: “If you go with what Hillary is saying‚ in the 9th month‚ you can take the baby and rip the baby out of the womb…" pic.twitter.com/06XyYs604l— Mary Margaret Olohan (@MaryMargOlohan) March 15‚ 2024 Conway’s remarks conflict with the strategies of prominent pro-life groups‚ such as the Susan B. Anthony List‚ which encourage Republicans to highlight Democratic extremism on abortion. Sen. Marco Rubio‚ R-Fla.‚ similarly urged Republicans‚ in a January memo first reported by The Daily Signal‚ to engage a three-pronged approach: to fight for a pro-family agenda‚ to highlight Democratic extremism on the issue‚ and to tell the truth about the horrors of abortion. He also emphasized to his colleagues that Republicans have the moral high ground on the issue‚ one that deals with the killing of an unborn child. “Pro-lifers should recall that protecting unborn human beings is the moral center and purpose of our movement—and we cannot be shy about saying so‚” he noted. “No pro-life strategy deserves the name without advocating just limits on abortion.” 01.16.2024_Rubio-Office_Memo-to-Interested-Parties-re.-Winning-Strategy-for-the-Pro-Life-Movement_FinalDownload “This moment is an opportunity for Republicans to refocus and remember who we are‚” he wrote. “Our party believes in the dignity of the human person‚ the importance of family‚ and the unalienable right to life. There is no cause that unites those beliefs more perfectly‚ and that motivates tens of millions of our party’s supporters more fully‚ than the pro-life cause. We have a responsibility to advocate effectively for that cause.” At a different point in the Wednesday conversation‚ Politico’s Ryan Lizza asked Conway: “How do you advise a Republican candidate who genuinely says … I believe an embryo is a human life?” “I know a few people like that‚” Conway responded. “I don’t know many. I know you always want them to be the rule‚ not the exception … .” “You don’t know anyone who believes that life starts at conception?” interrupted Lizza. “I know many people who believe that‚ you’re talking about embryos‚” she continued‚ before he pressed: “You don’t know anyone who believes embryos are a human life? That’s a very common position in the pro-life movement.” .@RyanLizza: "How do you advise a Republican candidate who genuinely says…I believe an embryo is a human life?"@KellyannePolls: "I know a few people like that. I don't know many. I know you always want them to be the rule‚ not the exception…"Lizza: "You don't know anyone… pic.twitter.com/UQsv276asr— Mary Margaret Olohan (@MaryMargOlohan) March 15‚ 2024 She later said that she would advise a candidate who believes life begins at conception to say‚ “I am pro-life‚ and here is what that means‚” before emphasizing the importance of life‚ liberty‚ and the pursuit of happiness as “our first rights.” Conway also encouraged GOP candidates to talk about close family members and friends who are pro-abortion‚ and to highlight the abortion exceptions that they personally support. “You show me your exceptions‚” she encouraged Republicans to say to Democrats‚ “And I’ll show you mine.” Have an opinion about this article? Judge’s Ruling Required Willis or Wade to Leave Georgia Case. Wade Left.

Judge’s Ruling Required Willis or Wade to Leave Georgia Case. Wade Left.

Fulton County‚ Georgia‚ Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee ruled Friday that county District Attorney Fani Willis could not go forward with her prosecution of former President Donald Trump and his co-defendants until she either recused herself and her office from the case or special prosecutor Nathan Wade was removed from the prosecution‚ giving the defendants a partial victory.  In response to the court’s ruling‚ Wade announced his resignation from the case‚ effective immediately.  McAfee issued a mixed ruling in the election interference case with respect to defendant Michael Roman’s motion (joined by other defendants‚ including Trump) to recuse Willis‚ her office‚ and Wade‚ who the judge referred to as “her romantic partner.” McAfee found that while the defendants had not produced sufficient evidence to show an actual conflict of interest in the case‚ the evidence did show an appearance of impropriety. He also concluded that while Willis’ speech at her church accusing her critics of racial animus was “legally improper‚” it had “not crossed the line to the point” where it would deny the defendants a fair trial. Due to the “established record” that “highlights a significant appearance of impropriety that infect the current structure of the prosecution team‚” the case cannot go forward until Willis decides who will remain on the prosecution team. One them was going to have to hit the road.    The court’s 23-page order includes specific findings of fact and conclusions of law. In journeyman fashion‚ the judge walked through the procedural posture of the case‚ and then turned to the law and standards applicable to actual conflicts of interest‚ an appearance of impropriety‚ and “forensic misconduct‚” which under Georgia Supreme Court precedent‚ are improper comments by a prosecutor regarding “his personal belief in the defendant’s guilt.”  No Actual Conflict of Interest The court opened by noting that “prosecutors are held to a unique and exacting professional standard in light of their public responsibility.” McAfee noted that the Georgia Supreme Court recognizes two grounds of disqualification of a prosecutor from a case: a conflict of interest or forensic misconduct. Conflicts of interest include acquiring a “personal interest or stake in the defendant’s conviction.” The judge correctly noted that determining whether a prosecutor has a conflict of interest in a given case is a “fact-driven one.”  The court turned first to the issue of monies paid by the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office to Wade.  While noting that there is nothing‚ per se‚ wrong with a special prosecutor being supervised by a “neutral and detached” district attorney‚ nor is there anything wrong‚ per se‚ with romantic relationships between prosecutors‚ when both occur‚ as alleged in this case‚ there is a prima facie argument that raises the question of whether there was financial enrichment and “improper motivations.”  The court found that the employment contract between the District Attorney’s Office and Wade provided for a $250 hourly rate‚ which was “a relatively low amount by metro Atlanta standards for an attorney of Wade’s years of service.”  The court also found that Willis and Wade‚ between October 2022 and May 2023‚ traveled together on four separate occasions that “resulted in documentable expenses.” The trips included an October 2022 cruise to Miami and Aruba; a December 2022 trip to Miami for another cruise; a March 2023 trip to Belize; and a May 2023 trip to Napa Valley‚ Calif. The court also found that the couple took “a number of daylong road trips to Tennessee‚ Alabama‚ South Carolina‚ North Carolina‚ and other parts of Georgia.”  Willis claims that she reimbursed Wade for many of the expenses of those trips in cash. The court found that while “such a reimbursement practice may be unusual and the lack of any documentary corroboration understandably concerning‚” it also found that their testimony “withstood direct contradiction” and was corroborated by other evidence.  As such‚ the court found that the “evidence did not establish the district attorney’s receipt of a material financial benefit as a result of her decision to hire and engage in a romantic relationship with Wade.” More importantly‚ the court found that the “financial gain flowing from her relationship with Wade was not a motivating factor … to indict and prosecute this case‚” or that Willis’ conduct impacted or influenced the case “to the defendant’s detriment.”  At the same time‚ McAfee wrote that his findings are “by no means an indication that the court condones this tremendous lapse in judgment or the unprofessional manner of the district attorney’s testimony during the evidentiary hearing.” He pointed out that other entities‚ such as the state General Assembly‚ the Georgia State Ethics Commission‚ the State Bar of Georgia‚ the Fulton County Board of Commissioners‚ or ultimately the voters of Fulton County “may offer feedback on any unanswered questions that linger.”  Court Found Appearance of Impropriety McAfee turned next to whether there was an appearance of impropriety‚ noting that Georgia appellate courts require such an analysis with respect to state prosecutors.  An appearance of impropriety is‚ McAfee noted‚ “conduct or status that would lead a reasonable person to think that the actor is behaving or will be inclined to behave inappropriately or wrongfully.” Quoting from a decision written by then-U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia‚ McAfee wrote that a reasonable person “is not an uninformed member of the public with only a passing knowledge of the facts at hand.”  A perceived conflict “threatens confidence in the legal system itself.” If that goes uncorrected‚ reasoned the judge‚ it “undermines the legitimacy and moral force” of the judiciary. Unlike the situation where there’s an actual conflict of interest in a case‚ which requires recusal of the prosecutor‚ under Georgia case law‚ disqualification “due to an appearance of impropriety should rarely occur where there is a danger that the actual trial may be tainted.” After explaining the law‚ McAfee concluded that the “record made at the evidentiary hearing established that the district attorney’s prosecution is encumbered by an appearance of impropriety.” McAfee stressed that the appearance was not “created by mere status alone‚ but comes because of specific conduct” by Willis and Wade. McAfee found that Willis “chose to continue supervising and paying Wade while maintaining” a romantic relationship with him‚ and that she “allowed the regular and loose exchange of money between them without any exact or verifiable measure of reconciliation.” That troubled McAfee‚ as did the fact that Willis testified that her relationship with Wade was “cemented” and “stronger than ever” after the motion to recuse was filed.  Of note‚ McAfee found Wade’s explanation about the “inaccurate” answers he provided in his divorce proceedings “patently unpersuasive” and indicated to McAfee the extent to which Wade was willing to “wrongly conceal his relationship with the District Attorney.” More damning was McAfee’s finding that Willis’ testimony “did not put these concerns to rest.” That’s judicial-speak for the fact that the judge didn’t believe Willis. Therein lies the problem: a non-credible prosecutor. Finally‚ McAfee remarked that there was “an odor of mendacity” that remains in the case. In other words‚ the judge was signaling that many of the witnesses were less than truthful in their sworn testimony before the court‚ which raises strong suspicions that they may have committed perjury.  Improper Comments by Willis Lastly‚ McAfee turned to the issue of whether Willis engaged in “forensic misconduct” in her church diatribe.  Of course‚ when a prosecutor indicts or charges a person with a crime‚ that is strong evidence that the district attorney thinks that the defendant committed the crime‚ and that there is evidence sufficient to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt. But because of the awesome power vested in state and federal prosecutors‚ there are rules with respect to what prosecutors can say to the public about any particular case. Typically‚ prosecutors only speak publicly about the charges and procedural next steps in a case and try their case in court.  Here‚ McAfee found that Willis gave a prepared speech before the congregation of a “local Atlanta church on January 14‚ 2024.” He noted that the speech was public and televised‚ that Willis complained about the Fulton County Commission “and so many others” who questioned her hiring of Wade.  Her speech was given after the motion to recuse was filed‚ causing McAfee to write that her speech‚ and the reference to “so many others‚” may or may not have been aimed at the defendants in this case. McAfee wrote‚ “therein lies the danger of public comment by a prosecuting attorney.” More troubling for McAfee was the fact that Willis said that her opponents were “playing the race card‚” which had the effect of suggesting that the motivation for filing the motion to recuse was racial in nature.  Again‚ McAfee did not find that the speech “crossed the line” to deny the defendants a fair trial requiring Willis’ disqualification. But the judge was highly critical‚ saying that her speech was “legally improper” and created “dangerous waters for the District Attorney to wade further into.”  Willis Or Wade Must Recuse McAfee concluded that the “case cannot proceed until the State selects one of two options.” Option No. 1 is for Willis to recuse herself and her entire office. Option No. 2 was for Wade to step aside. That’s a shrewd ruling on the part of the judge.  It will certainly not make everyone happy‚ much less the defense‚ who could appeal the ruling.  There was little doubt that Willis would choose Option No 1. Her ego alone will force that choice‚ as she was a relative nobody before this case‚ and she has too much invested in this case politically to simply abandon ship now.  By not removing Willis from the case‚ McAfee put the ball in Willis’ court.  Now that Wade has resigned from the case‚ Willis and her office will continue to handle the case.  If there is a conviction in any of these cases‚ the defendants will have a strong appellate issue to assert‚ given the devastating factual findings by McAfee. Willis has been and is her own worst enemy. This latest order came on top of another damaging order issued by McAfee on Wednesday‚ in which he dismissed six of the criminal counts against various defendants‚ including Trump‚ because they were too vague to allow the defendants to adequately defend themselves. Although McAfee gave Willis the ability to refile a new indictment‚ that would require her to reconvene a new grand jury‚ further complicating and delaying her case. US Ambassador Denounces Hungary’s Orban at Soros' University While Gov’t Interferes in Elections

U.S. Ambassador to Hungary David Pressman attacked the Hungarian government during a contentious speech at a Soros-funded university‚ just as the State Department prepares another deluge of dollars for anti-government media in Hungary.  On March 14‚ Ambassador Pressman attended an event hosted by Central European University (CEU) where he attacked the NATO ally with whom it is his job to negotiate. Soros had funneled at least $1‚058‚676‚021 to CEU’s coffers between 2016 and 2022 alone and founded the university himself. Pressman took issue with several Hungarian measures to combat foreign influence. These included Hungary’s “Defense of Sovereignty Act” and the Hungarian government’s struggle against the enormous influence of Soros’ Open Society Foundations and CEU.  During his speech‚ Pressman launched into a shameless diatribe against the Hungarian government‚ accusing the country’s officials of equating  “independence” with “opposition.” Outrageously‚ the Department of State has recently funneled money to leftist media outlets handpicked by Soros-funded organizations. “Independent media in Hungary gets labeled opposition media. Independent non-governmental organizations get labeled political partisans‚” the ambassador claimed. Pressman’s claims come against the backdrop of the Soros-funded Ökotárs Foundation and media watchdog Mérték Media Monitor preparing a second round of taxpayer-funded grants to Hungarian media outlets. This round of the infamous grant program had a Feb. 29 deadline. Like Pressman‚ these Soros-funded organizations use the phrase “independent media” to describe the leftist media outlets they choose to shower money on. While the new recipients have not been announced‚ Ökotárs Foundation and Mérték Media Monitor have a troubling record. Earlier this year‚ these same two organizations gave $320‚000 in taxpayer dollars to 15 anti-government media outlets in Hungary. At least five of these media outlets had also specifically taken money from Soros. Notably‚ the Ökotárs Foundation indicates that this will not be the final round‚ as these two organizations will be handling applications until Aug. 31.  Earlier in his speech‚ Pressman gushed over his host declaring that CEU was full of “the best and brightest students‚ studying at the preeminent university in all of Central Europe.” Pressman lamented CEU’s move from Hungary to Vienna without mentioning Soros.  “While I won’t spend much time on the saga of what the Hungarian government put this university through‚ over the objections of the previous U.S. Administration‚” Pressman said‚ neatly sidestepping the leftist billionaire founder‚ “I think it is fitting to mention because it epitomizes the sacrifice of something great in exchange for – honestly‚ it is hard for me to understand.  In exchange for political points?  For talking points?  Whatever was gained‚ it is clear that Hungary lost when it lost these promising students.” Conservatives are under attack! Contact ABC News at (818) 460-7477‚ CBS News at (212) 975-3247 and NBC News at (212) 664-6192 and demand they report on the State Department letting Soros-funded groups award taxpayer dollars abroad.

Doing Biden’s Bidding? Nets HID Inconvenient Truth on Job Numbers Revision

The Big Three networks have been caught playing the game they so often do: burying facts that destroy their narrative. This time‚ the evening newscasts at NBC News‚ CBS News and ABC News hid the fact that the Bureau of Labor Statistics revised the January jobs numbers far below what it had initially reported. When the original January jobs numbers were released earlier this year‚ leftist news outlets jumped up and down in support of Biden‚ even claiming that the inflation-ravaged economy was “booming.” The downward revision‚ released on March 8 with the February numbers‚ dropped the total nonfarm jobs created in January by more than 35 percent‚ from 353‚000 to 229‚000.  The March 8 release also reduced the December 2023 jobs numbers from 333‚000 to 290‚000‚ totaling a 167‚000-job overestimate for both December and January. But of course‚ this seismic overestimate didn’t fit the story that the legacy media wanted to shove in the faces of Americans struggling with high prices and debt. It’s simple: the media announces the overly high jobs numbers‚ praising Biden all the way. Yet when the revision and more context are revealed‚ the media keeps quiet in a seemingly desperate attempt to maintain the narrative. To ignore any mention of the revisions‚ ABC World News Tonight‚ in its March 8 show‚ touted the numbers in the February jobs report‚ which were lower than the original January report. On March 11‚ along with the other networks‚ ABC wasted oodles of time covering a supposedly photoshopped picture of Kate Middleton. On March 12‚ the network hoped that the Fed would cut interest rates this summer despite the increasing inflation rate. CBS Evening News and NBC Nightly News also reported on completely unrelated stories. CBS Evening News celebrated Barbie dolls on their March 8 broadcast. On March 11‚ CBS Evening News ran a segment on the Oscars‚ and the next day‚ focused on the reopening of Babies’R’Us.  Meanwhile‚ NBC Nightly News covered the appearance of toy unicorns all over Providence‚ Rhode Island on March 8 and publicized a phone hotline for cool springs in California on March 13. Conservatives are under attack. Contact ABC News at 818-460-7477‚ CBS News at 212-975-3247 and NBC News at 212-664-6192 and demand they report truthfully on the condition of labor in America.
