Apple seeds watchOS 10.2 RC with watch face tweaks and more

A few days after seeding the watchOS 10.2 beta 4‚ Apple is now releasing watchOS 10.2 RC to developers as the testing cycle nears its end. Although we still don’t know much about changes with the Apple Watch operating system‚ Cupertino is finally adding one of the promised features exclusive to Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 users. With watchOS 10.2 beta 2‚ users can ask Siri to read and long on-device Health requests. This change not only makes requests faster but more private and secure to users‚ as Siri can be used to access the Health app for health and fitness-related queries on-device. There are over 20 health data types that are supported through Siri to help you access and log health data quickly and easily. Users can try queries like: Siri‚ how does my Move ring look today? Siri‚ did I close my Exercise Ring? Siri‚ what’s my step count? Siri‚ I took my 9 AM medications. Siri‚ log that I took my multivitamin. Siri‚ I weigh 183 pounds. Despite this watchOS 10.2 beta change‚ with beta 3‚ the company added a beloved Apple Watch gesture back. Now‚ you can swipe to switch your main watch face. Apple added a new setting’s function that enables that on watchOS 10.2 beta 3. This feature is under Settings and Clock. That said‚ once watchOS 10.2 is available later this year‚ it won’t be turned on as default. Users will have to actively enable this to have this function back. With watchOS 10.1‚ Apple added a few important features: NameDrop from iPhone to Apple Watch lets you easily share your contact information from one iPhone to Apple Watch by approaching them. While this function is available for iPhone to iPhone with iOS 17‚ Apple says that nearing an iPhone to Apple Watch to perform the same action is possible with Apple Watch Series 6 and later‚ Apple Watch SE (1st and 2nd generation)‚ and Apple Watch Ultra. With the double-tap gesture‚ users can easily control the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 using just one hand and without touching the display by tapping the index finger and thumb of their watch hand together twice to quickly and conveniently perform many of the most common actions on the Watch. The faster Neural Engine enables this new double tap gesture‚ which processes data from the accelerometer‚ gyroscope‚ and optical heart sensor with a new machine learning algorithm. BGR will let you know once we learn more about the features available with the watchOS 10.2 beta for the Apple Watch. The company is also seeding the RC versions of iOS 17.2‚ iPadOS 17.2‚ macOS 14.2‚ and tvOS 17.2. macOS 14.2 RC is now available to developers

With macOS 14.2 RC now available to developers‚ Apple nears the end of the testing cycle of this upcoming operating system. This new testing version comes after almost a month that the new M3 Macs have been released. Although macOS Sonoma still lacks a few features‚ version 14.2 is finally adding a few of them‚ such as: Sticker reactions: React to a message with any Live Sticker‚ Memoji‚ or Animoji through the Sticker drawer or directly through the Tapback menu. Edit playlists: There’s a new edit button for playlists to add custom covers (an iOS 17.1 feature) and a description with macOS 14.2 beta. iMessage Contact Key Verification: Contact key verification allows you to manually verify who you are messaging with by comparing contact verification codes in person or over the phone. Conversations with people who have contact key verification turned on also receive automatic advanced protections to help prevent even very sophisticated attackers from impersonating anyone in a conversation. During most part of macOS 14.2 beta‚ Apple offered the ability to check collaborative playlists on Apple Music‚ but with iOS 17.2 beta 4‚ the company removed this feature. It's unclear if this function is available with beta 5 or not. macOS 14.2 beta still lacks some other features that were delayed from the first Sonoma release‚ such as: PDF intelligent form detection: Fillable documents and forms can now be automatically identified across the system‚ like in Files‚ Mail‚ or scanned documents. PDF Enhanced Autofill: Populate information such as names and addresses on forms even faster‚ as powerful on-device language models identify fillable fields and enable AutoFill. Multiple timers: Run several timers on Mac simultaneously‚ perfect for when you’re cooking and need to keep track of different steps and dishes. With the macOS 14.2 beta cycle almost ending‚ we’ll let you know if Apple might add anything new in upcoming builds. Alongside macOS 14.2 RC‚ Apple is also seeding the RC versions of iOS 17.2‚ iPadOS 17.2‚ watchOS 10.2‚ and tvOS 17.2. tvOS 17.2 RC available with new Apple TV app and more

As the testing cycle nears its end‚ Apple is now releasing tvOS 17.2 RC to users. One of the most notable features of this update is a revamped Apple TV app. It was first reported by Bloomberg‚ and it’s now being tested by Apple. On the TV app on tvOS 17.2‚ Apple has a new sidebar menu showing everything related to Apple‚ such as TV+‚ MLS Season Pass‚ Store‚ and Library‚ in addition to the user’s channels and apps. Interestingly‚ so far‚ Apple hasn’t killed the iTunes Movie app‚ which is still available as a standalone app. In this new interface‚ you can select what you want to discover by tapping the different sections on the sidebar menu. When selecting the Apple TV+ section‚ you’ll discover everything related to Apple’s own streaming service. For the Library‚ for example‚ you’ll get all the movies you have purchased and the same filters as before‚ such as “4K HDR‚” genres‚ and more. What’s interesting with this change is that you can now quickly access channels and apps. Previously‚ you could find TV shows and movies from third-party apps‚ but this is the first time Apple has made it so much easier to discover everything users are watching on other platforms. With tvOS 17.2 beta‚ you still get a similar interface for the Store section on the Apple TV app. You can find the Top Movies Chart‚ options rated by genre and purchases‚ and more. Apple is also preparing support for Collaborative Playlists on Apple Music as the company also added the Favorites Playlist in this beta version. In addition‚ Apple Fitness+ users can choose to focus on the audio of the trainer or the song playing. BGR will keep looking at what’s new with tvOS 17.2 RC and report if we discover anything different‚ such as new tweaks or features. Apple is also seeding the RC versions of iOS 17.2‚ iPadOS 17.2‚ watchOS 10.2‚ and macOS Sonoma 14.2. Don't Miss: tvOS 17: Features‚ release date‚ Apple TV compatibility‚ more The post tvOS 17.2 RC available with new Apple TV app and more appeared first on BGR. iOS 17.2 RC available to developers with these 9 features

iOS 17.2 beta cycle is at full speed as Apple seeds the RC version of this upcoming operating system update. Unlike iOS 17.1‚ Cupertino is readying several features to iPhone users. Here’s what’s available with this version so far: With beta 2‚ Apple added Spatial Video recording‚ an exclusive feature for iPhone 15 Pro owners who will be able to watch these videos on the Apple Vision Pro in early 2024. With beta 4‚ unfortunately‚ Apple removed the Apple Music Collaborative playlist feature‚ which we still have to discover if it has been added back with beta 5. Here’s what else we know about the iOS 17.2 beta cycle. Journal app: Apple is finally making available the Journal app. Using on-device machine learning‚ it displays personalized suggestions that can inspire a user’s journal entry. Apple says that suggestions are intelligently curated from recent activity‚ including photos‚ people‚ places‚ workouts‚ and more‚ making it easy to start a journal entry‚ and scheduled notifications can help build a journaling habit. Apple Fitness+ Audio Focus: It gives users the ability to prioritize the volume of the music or the trainers’ voices during an Apple Fitness+ workout. Turn off Listening History on Apple Music: iOS 17.2 brings a Focus Filter‚ which lets you turn off the Listening History feature. Favorite Apple Music Playlist: After iOS 17.1 added the ability to favorite songs‚ Apple created a Favorite Playlist with all your songs. iPhone 15 Pro Max Action Button Image source: Christian de Looper for BGR Action Button tweaks: Apple has added a Translate button as a new option for the iPhone 15 Pro’s Action Button. iMessage Contact Key Verification: Contact key verification allows you to manually verify who you are messaging with by comparing contact verification codes in person or over the phone. Conversations with people who have contact key verification turned on also receive automatic advanced protections to help prevent even very sophisticated attackers from impersonating anyone in a conversation. React to a message with any sticker: With iOS 17.2‚ you can react with any sticker or memoji to a message. Just long-press a text‚ select Add Sticker‚ and choose one. Catch-up arrow: A catch-up arrow is again available in the Messages app so you can easily go to the last message you saw; If we learn about new features being added to iOS 17.2 RC‚ we will make sure to update our article with all the new features of this operating system update. Apple is also seeding the RC versions of iPadOS 17.2‚ macOS 14.2‚ watchOS 10.1‚ and tvOS 17.2. Apple kills iTunes Movies app on Apple TV with tvOS 17.2 RC

With tvOS 17.2 RC‚ Apple is finally killing the iTunes Movies app. This change comes after the company started testing a revamped TV app early last month. When you open the iTunes Movies app‚ Apple TV users are greeted with a new screen that tells them‚ "iTunes Movies and Your Purchases Have Moved." With that‚ users can go to the store or see their purchases by returning to the TV app. This movement was already expected. Before tvOS 17.2 beta 1‚ Bloomberg reported Apple was planning a major overhaul to its TV app‚ which would ultimately include killing the iTunes Movies app and focusing everything on the Apple TV brand instead. On the TV app on tvOS 17.2‚ Apple has a new sidebar menu showing everything related to Apple‚ such as TV+‚ MLS Season Pass‚ Store‚ and Library‚ in addition to the user’s channels and apps. With the iTunes Movies now being phased out‚ Apple is slowly but steadily killing its once notorious iTunes brand. We'll let you know if we discover anything new in the latest Release Candidate versions.
