Sen. Mitch McConnell’s Procedural Move Is Stalling The SAVE Act From Getting Passed

Who needs enemies when you have friends like Senator Mitch McConnell in your party? Senator Mitch McConnell is stalling on bringing the SAVE Act to the Senate floor. McConnell is currently the leader of the Senate Rules Committee and has yet to schedule a vote on the bill, which was passed by the House. The bill aims to require Americans to present proper ID to vote in elections in order to prevent non-citizens from illegally voting. Here’s what Yahoo News reported on McConnell’s attempts to stall the bill: Senator Mitch McConnell appears to be stalling the voting bill backed by President Trump, and fellow Republicans are not happy. McConnell, who leads the Senate Rules Committee, is refusing to schedule a vote on the legislation, thus preventing it from moving forward. The bill would create barriers for voting, requiring specific forms of ID in order for Americans to exercise their constitutional right. In blocking it, the retiring senator and former majority leader has drawn the ire of his colleagues. Representative Tim Burchett posted a video on X Friday saying McConnell’s actions are partially coming from a place of “meanness” because he doesn’t like Trump, and called his mental acuity into question. “He’s blocking the SAVE Act, or is he? Is it him or a staff member, because as you know, he’s a lot like Joe Biden was in his last few days in office, or last years in office,” Burchett said. “His cognizant level is diminishing daily.” Burchett went on a tangent about how much of Congress is run by staffers because certain aging members of Congress have diminishing mental capacity, citing the case of Representative Kay Granger, the former House Appropriations Committee chair who disappeared for months in 2024 and was later found to be living in an independent living facility. Here’s what Rep. Brandon Gill had to say about McConnell’s move: SENATE STALLING THE SAVE ACT?@RepBrandonGill calls out Mitch McConnell: the House passed the SAVE Act, 82% of Americans want proof of citizenship to vote—and the Senate’s been sitting on it for 300 days.@andrewkolvet pic.twitter.com/r6CLmY5WrN — Real America’s Voice (RAV) (@RealAmVoice) February 3, 2026 Rep. Tim Burchett blasted McConnell and compared the senator from Kentucky to Joe Biden: Rep Tim Burchett: “I saw where Mitch McConnell was blocking the SAVE Act this morning… He doesn’t like Trump”pic.twitter.com/1TTZFaxgsg — Defiant L’s (@DefiantLs) February 20, 2026 NBC News reported McConnell was hospitalized earlier in the month: “Senator McConnell was discharged from the hospital yesterday and is grateful for the outstanding care he received. He is feeling better and will be working from home this week on the advice of his doctors,” the spokesman, David Popp, said in a statement. McConnell, who was the Republican leader in the Senate until last year, was hospitalized Feb. 2 after he experienced “flu-like symptoms,” his office said at the time. McConnell, 83, announced last year that he would not seek re-election, setting off a competitive primary race to replace him. In recent years, he has faced mounting concerns about his health, after several incidents of freezing on camera. In 2023, he sustained a concussion after a fall, and in 2019 he fractured a shoulder at home. Last year, after he fell in the Capitol complex multiple times, McConnell was seen in a wheelchair being pushed by members of his staff.

SCARY: Olympic Speed Skater Taken Off Ice On Stretcher After Getting Cut With A Blade

This was scary to watch. An Olympic speed skater from Poland was taken off the ice track on a stretcher after she was cut in the face with a blade from an opponent. Video shows skater Kamila Sellier slip on the ice during the race, and why laying on the ice was accidentally cut by a blade of an American skater. Take a look: (Warning, it may be graphic to some viewers) Another look at the horrible Kamila Sellier speed skating accident. When it is slowed down like this you can see how close it was to leaving her partially blinded. pic.twitter.com/cefobBcW7V — USA NEWS (@usanewshq) February 20, 2026 Yahoo Sports reported more on the graphic injury: Polish skater Kamila Sellier suffered a serious injury in the sixth quarterfinal of Friday night’s 1500m short-track speedskate and was taken from Assago Ice Skating Arena to a nearby hospital. Polish officials indicated that she was in good spirits, even raising a thumbs-up as she left the arena. Late in the quarterfinal, Sellier appeared to lose her footing and slipped, colliding with the United States’ Kristen Santos-Griswold. In the ensuing accident, Santos-Griswold’s skate caught Sellier on the face. Sellier slid into the protective retaining wall, and medical crews raised a sheet around her to protect the scene from the audience. She was stretchered from the ice. Konrad Niedźwiedzki, press attache for the Polish speed skating team and a 2014 Olympian, informed reporters at the arena that Sellier had suffered a cut on her cheek and eyelid that required stitches. Other reports indicated that Sellier had potentially fractured a cheekbone and suffered severe swelling. “We are waiting for what the hospital tests will show,” Niedźwiedzki said, via translation. Another angle of the graphic injury: Short-track speedskater Kamila Sellier has been stretchered out of the Milano Ice Skating Arena after having her head sliced open by a competitor’s blade during the women’s 1500m at the Winter Olympics. https://t.co/ASNYvMGhyb — 7NEWS Adelaide (@7NewsAdelaide) February 21, 2026 Sports that involve ice skating can be very dangerous and, at times, deadly. In 2023, Adam Johnson, a hockey player for the Nottingham Panthers, was killed on the ice after his opponent elevated his skates during a collision, which resulted in Johnson being cut in the neck. Here’s the moment it happened: It has been 2 years and 16 days since a black hockey player fatally slit the throat of a white player, Adam Johnson. Did you know? No charges were ever brought against Matt Petgrave. He’s currently walking a free man. Color me shocked. pic.twitter.com/5EE1g7rlXW — Amiri King (@AmiriKing) November 13, 2025 ESPN reported more on the incident: A man arrested on suspicion of manslaughter following the death of ice hockey player Adam Johnson has been told he will not face charges, British prosecutors said Tuesday. Johnson played for the Nottingham Panthers and died shortly after his neck had been sliced in a collision with Sheffield Steelers defenseman Matt Petgrave during a game on Oct. 28, 2023. A man was arrested two weeks later and though South Yorkshire Police did not publicly identify him, Petgrave himself said in a crowdfunding appeal for legal fees that he’s the subject of a police investigation. On Tuesday, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) decided it would not bring criminal charges against the man arrested following what it described as “a shocking and deeply upsetting incident.” “The CPS and South Yorkshire Police have worked closely together to determine whether any criminal charges should be brought against the other ice hockey player involved,” Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor Michael Quinn said.

Tennessee Lawmakers Pass Bill Challenging Gay Marriage

Tennessee Lawmakers Pass Bill Challenging Gay Marriage

Republican lawmakers in Tennessee are shaking things up. Big time! The Tennessee House on Thursday passed a bill that would allow banks, hospitals, and other companies to refuse to recognize gay marriage. Republican lawmakers behind the bill say it’s all Constitutional. Life Site News reported more on Tennessee lawmakers’ move to challenge gay marriage: The Tennessee House of Representatives passed legislation on Thursday that would allow private citizens and organizations to refuse to recognize homosexual “marriages,” in a major challenge to the LGBT movement. House Bill 1473, which cleared the state House 68-24 with overwhelming support from Republicans, would exempt banks, medical institutions, and other private entities from recognizing what the bill refers to as “a purported marriage between individuals of the same sex.” The bill additionally states that government officials may not face discipline or sanctions for “declining to celebrate or officiate at a marriage or commitment ceremony that falls outside the definition of marriage provided in this code.” The legislation pushes back against Obergefell v. Hodges, the 2015 Supreme Court decision that legalized homosexual “marriage” nationwide. “Private citizens and organizations are not bound by the Fourteenth Amendment or by the Supreme Court’s purported interpretation of the Fourteenth Amendment in Obergefell v. Hodges,” House Bill 1473 says. All Republicans in the Tennessee House voted for the measure, while all Democrats voted against it. Another huge W for Tennessee SCOTUS says we can’t outlaw the blasphemy of gay marriage? Fine, then we will legally protect anyone who refuses to participate in it. Now the alphabet mob can’t legally force a church to participate in its blasphemy against The Lord https://t.co/V2CilQdNwa —
