If You Start These Country Songs At The Right Time, You’ll Ring In The New Year Singing At The Top Of Your Lungs

Looking for some country music to send you into 2026? You’ve come to the right place. I don’t know about you, but I’ve really appreciated the recent trend of “get this piece of media started at (insert time here) if you want to ring in the New Year the right way.” Surely you’ve seen it, right? Whether it be a movie, or a song (I’ve seen “Feel It In The Air Tonight” recommended a lot), people are figuring out when to get something going so that it perfectly times up with the clock striking midnight. If you are interested, here you’ll find a list of country music songs, and when to start them, so that the chorus kicks in just as the 2026 does. Obviously, you can do the math and figure out how to do this with whatever song of your choosing. But since it’s the weird week between Christmas and New Year’s, and you are probably off work, it never hurts to let someone else do the math for you. So here’s some songs that I think are worthy of cueing up to welcome in 2026. “I Never Lie” by Zach Top This is an easy one. Zach Top’s breakout hit has one of the catchiest country music choruses in recent memory. It’s been stuck in my head ever since it came out, and if you start this one at exactly 11:59:16, you can scream “I SLEEP LIKE A BABY” right at midnight: “Friends In Low Places” by Garth Brooks While you are hanging out with friends for New Year’s Eve, might as well give this Garth Brooks classic a shot. Everyone will know it, and from my experience, everyone loves it (even those not so crazy about country people). Press play on this Garth hit at 11:59:15 and the chorus will kick in right when you need it to: “Neon Moon” by Brooks & Dunn Is it really a country music listical without Brooks & Dunn? With this 1991 smash hit, you could really start it whenever you want. But if you want to wait for the chorus to come around, get this one going at 11:59:13: “Good Time” by Alan Jackson Here’s an easy one for you. Alan Jackson has countless hits that would be worthy of sending you from one year to the next. However, I’d argue that “Good Time” is the most fitting. Who doesn’t want to be having a good time that stretches from one year to the next? If you want to have a “Good Time” going into 2026, line this one up to start right from the beginning, right at midnight: “Drink In My Hand” by Eric Church Never hurts to go to Church on New Year’s Eve, eh? I can’t think of a better way to get the year started off the right than by sipping on a good drink and singing along to the Chief. “Drink In My Hand” is my ideal choice here, and with a drink in one hand and your finger on the play button, get this started 11:59:40: “Family Tradition” by Hank Williams Jr. Finally, the country music sing-along of all sing-alongs: “Family Tradition” by Hank Williams Jr.. Like the Garth Brooks track that I mentioned earlier, everyone should know this one. And this song will work perfectly if you happen to be spending New Year’s Eve with the family. Press play at 11:59:20 and get ready to sing at the top of your lungs: Happy New Year! Hope everyone out there has a safe and happy holiday. The post If You Start These Country Songs At The Right Time, You’ll Ring In The New Year Singing At The Top Of Your Lungs first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

Stephen Wilson Jr. Finally Reveals The Painting He Got From Hardy That Brought Him To His Knees

HARDY thought up an end-of-tour gift that was so good, it brought Stephen Wilson Jr. to his knees. The “Father’s Son” singer wrapped up his tour dates for 2025 earlier this year. Two of his big, almost-finale shows took place at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. During the first night of his two-night Ryman stand, the 46-year-old brought out his good friend HARDY – who has helped Wilson Jr.’s out a lot early in his career – to help him sing “Father’s Son.” HARDY shared a video thanking Stephen for the opportunity shortly after they shared the stage: @hardyThank you @stephen.wilson.jr for letting me come up and play Father’s Søn with you last night at the Ryman. This is a special song that I will always be honored to sing with you. ♬ Father’s Søn – Acoustic – Stephen Wilson Jr. & HARDY That’s a stellar pairing right there. While HARDY was up on stage, Stephen Wilson Jr. brought up the fact that his friend had gotten him a John Mellencamp-created gift as a end of tour present. For those that don’t know, Wilson Jr. and rock-legend John Mellencamp come from the same hometown – Seymour, Indiana. The “Jack & Diane” singer has always been a huge inspiration to him, and Wilson Jr. is also a boxer, like his father before him… so having his musical hero paint a picture of Joe Louis, a boxing icon, is the ultimate one-two punch: “He gave me the coolest after-tour gift that I’ve ever seen given on planet Earth. He gave it to me while we were setting up earlier today. I’ve done everything I can not to bust out bawling. I’ve got a Chernobyl level break down waiting to happen after all this is over. This man brought a painting of Joe Louis painted by John Mellencamp. If you know me, you know what that means to me. It’ll go up as the centerpiece of my house. It’ll be what everyone sees when they walk in my house… there’s not enough gratitude for a present that good.”  Until now, we were just left to imagine what that painting actually looked like. Thanks to Stephen Wilson Jr.’s video celebrating 2025 and looking ahead to 2026 that he posted on New Year’s Eve, we can now see that very painting of Joe Louis, and the moment that HARDY gifted to him that literally brought Wilson Jr. to his knees: Happy New Year. a lot can happen in a year…thank y’all for showing up. love y'all. see you in the Spring. pic.twitter.com/hH8xBln77E — Stephen Wilson Jr. (@SWJMusic) December 31, 2025 What a beautiful, meaningful painting… and it went up as a centerpiece at his house, just like he said it would. And what a year for Stephen Wilson Jr., eh? Something tells me he’s going to keep his momentum rolling into 2026, and I can’t recommend seeing him live enough. He’s got plenty of dates lined up for 2026, so make sure to take a look at this list and plan accordingly: 2026 Tour Dates: 1/27-1/31: Key West, FL – Mile 0 Festival * 2/17: Houston, TX – White Oak Music Hall 2/26: Tulsa, OK – BOK Center ^ 2/27: Fort Worth, TX – Dickies Arena ^ 2/28: Austin, TX – Moody Center ^ 3/6: Columbus, OH – KEMBA Live! # 3/7: Grand Rapids, MI – GLC Live at 20 Monroe # 3/10: Cleveland, OH – The Agora # 3/11: Detroit, MI – The Fillmore # 3/14: Toronto, ON – HISTORY # 3/18: Boston, MA – Citizens House of Blues # 3/21: Brooklyn, NY – Brooklyn Paramount # 3/22: Port Chester, NY – The Capitol Theatre # 3/25: Philadelphia, PA – The Fillmore # 3/28: Silver Spring, MD – The Fillmore # 4/11: Bossier City, LA – The Paradise Theater at Margaritaville Bossier City # 4/15: St. Louis, MO – The Pageant # 4/17: Kansas City, MO – The Midland Theatre # 4/18: Denver, CO – Mission Ballroom # 4/22: Omaha, NE – Steelhouse Omaha # 4/24: Madison, WI – The Sylvee # 4/25: Chicago, IL – The Salt Shed # 6/6: Lexington, KY – Railbird Music Festival * 7/18: Whitefish, MT – Under the Big Sky Festival * * – Festival # – Gary The Torch tour ^ – Supporting Eric ChurchThe post Stephen Wilson Jr. Finally Reveals The Painting He Got From Hardy That Brought Him To His Knees first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

SNAP bans on soda, candy and other foods take effect in five states Jan. 1

Starting Thursday, Americans in five states who get government help paying for groceries will see new restrictions on soda, candy and other foods they can buy with those benefits. Indiana, Iowa, Nebraska, Utah and West Virginia are the first of at least 18 states to enact waivers prohibiting the purchase of certain foods through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP. It's part of a push by Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins to urge states to strip foods regarded as unhealthy from the $100 billion federal program -- long known as food stamps -- that serves 42 million Americans...

My big night out: I realised I could leave the house party behind – and everything else that made me feel small

We drove out along the coast one afternoon, to a fireworks shop a couple of towns along. It was late in the year, and the light was low and dismal, rain scudding the windscreen. In a couple of days' time it would be New Year's Eve, and then our small town would scatter itself to parties held in bars and houses and nightclubs, and out along the harbour. At midnight, there would be an amateur firework display on the roof of the old lido. In the shop that afternoon, some of the fireworks sat behind a glass-fronted cabinet. They had names like Stinging Bees, Vendetta and Sky Breaker, and beneath each item was a small laminated caption: "One hundred shot roman candle firing high whistling bees," read one. "Twenty-five secs of time rain salutes. Noisy," read another...
