Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter Dies at 100

Former president Jimmy Carter’s death on December 29, 2024, at the age of 100, has left the nation reflecting on the extraordinary life of the 39th U.S. president. Carter, who passed away peacefully at his home in Plains, Georgia, was more than a leader. He was a humanitarian, a peacemaker, and an inspiration to millions. As the longest-living president in American history, Carter’s journey from the White House to global humanitarian work is a testament to his unwavering dedication to service. His death not only closes a chapter in U.S. history. But it also leaves behind a legacy that transcends politics. Carter Was a President Turned Humanitarian Icon Jimmy Carter’s death reminds us of a life defined by purpose and compassion. As the 39th president, Carter served a single term from 1977 to 1981, navigating a challenging era marked by economic woes and international conflicts. While his presidency faced criticism at the time, history has offered a more favorable view, particularly of his commitment to ethical governance and human rights. Carter NHP / IG / As the 39th U.S. president, Jimmy Carter served a volatile term in office from 1977 to 1981. Carter’s most enduring achievements came after his presidency. Through The Carter Center, he tackled global issues such as disease eradication, election monitoring, and conflict resolution. His humanitarian efforts earned him the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002. The Former President Lived a Humble Life Rooted in Faith Jimmy Carter’s death also underscores the humility that characterized his life. Unlike many former presidents who capitalized on their fame, Carter returned to his small hometown of Plains, Georgia, where he lived modestly with his wife, Rosalynn. Faith played a central role in Carter’s journey. A devout Christian, he taught Sunday school for decades and often spoke about the importance of moral leadership. Carter Was a Family Man to the Core Jimmy Carter’s death is deeply felt by his family, including his four children, 11 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. His wife, Rosalynn, passed away just weeks before him in November 2024 at the age of 96, marking the end of an extraordinary love story. Carter NHP / IG / Chip Carter, one of their children, described his father as a “hero and a role model” for anyone who believes in peace and selflessness. Together, they exemplified partnership and mutual dedication, leaving behind a legacy of shared purpose. The End of an Era Following Jimmy Carter’s death, President Joe Biden declared January 9, 2025, a National Day of Mourning. Flags were ordered to fly at half-staff for 30 days, and a state funeral is planned in Washington, D.C. Biden, who was the first senator to endorse Carter’s presidential run in 1976, will deliver a eulogy, fulfilling a promise he made to Carter in 2023. Public observances are also scheduled in Atlanta and Washington, allowing citizens to pay their respects. Carter will be laid to rest in a private ceremony in Plains, where his journey began and ended. Carter Served a Voatile Tenure in Office (1977 – 1981) Jimmy Carter’s death invites a reevaluation of his presidency. Elected as a fresh face in the wake of the Watergate scandal, Carter promised transparency and honesty. However, his time in office was marred by challenges, including the Iran hostage crisis, energy shortages, and inflation. Despite these struggles, Carter achieved significant milestones, such as brokering the Camp David Accords between Israel and Egypt. His focus on human rights and environmental issues also set the stage for future progress in these areas. While his presidency was often criticized, it laid the groundwork for his later role as a global advocate. Trump Lawyer Alina Habba: “We’re done with the show and are closing the curtain. Buckle up!”

If the Trump Team wanted to discourage the idea that we’ve all been “watching a movie” they sure aren’t doing a good job of it… In fact, they seem to be going out of their way to reinforce that idea. Here’s Trump Lawyer Alina Habba with the latest: Trump Lawyer Alina Habba drops a FIERCE final warning to the criminal Obama regime: “They tried everything they could and President Trump won. Obama’s been running the show since day one. He’s the puppeteer. We’re done with the show and are closing the curtain. Buckle up.” pic.twitter.com/xHEkkOWvRI — Benny Johnson (@bennyjohnson) January 10, 2025 Backup video here with captions: Trump Lawyer Alina Habba: “We’re done with the show and are closing the curtain. Charlamagne Tha God Illustrates Why President Trump Is Such A Uniquely Effective Leader

Breakfast Club radio co-host Charlamagne tha God has begun embracing views contrary to his connections with the Democratic Party, as evidenced by his continued critique of Kamala Harris’ disastrous presidential campaign. He has also offered some unexpected praise to President Donald Trump, recently devoting a segment of the popular radio show to explaining why he believes Democrats should be taking notes from the recently re-elected Republican. Charlamagne: “Donald Trump shows me what’s politically possible. Trump shows me what presidents can do if they want to do it. Donald Trump shows me what can be said if you are willing to say it. It’s not about what can’t be done; it’s about who has the political will to do it. I… pic.twitter.com/5FnZ4jbJru — Jason Cohen (@JasonJournoDC) January 8, 2025 According the Fox News: “Donald Trump shows me what’s politically possible. Trump shows me what presidents can do if they want to do it. Donald Trump shows me what can be said if you are willing to say it. It’s not about what can be done, it’s about who has the political will to do it,” Charlamagne argued. “I don’t want to hear a peep from Democrats about nothing until they get the balls to say what’s really on their mind in regards to this country and this world,” he added. “Trump doesn’t care if it sounds ridiculous. Trump doesn’t care if it makes sense. It’s no political correctness whatsoever.” The on-air personality’s shifting sensibilities have fueled a significant amount of social media discussion in recent months: Charlamagne on Joe Biden pardoning Hunter: “I just want Democrats to stop acting like they are on this moral high ground politically when they have shown us they’re not. You know, whether it’s skipping the primary process when Biden stepped down and things like Biden pardoning… pic.twitter.com/zdOY2sTKUl — Jason Cohen (@JasonJournoDC) December 2, 2024 ‘STOP ACTING’: Radio host Charlamagne tha God argues Democrats can no longer claim they have the “moral high ground” against Republicans. https://t.co/n04YUKTNp9 pic.twitter.com/P8uvakgZuI — Fox News (@FoxNews) December 3, 2024 Charlamagne: “You can’t call a man a fascist and a dictator, but when he wins, throws all that rhetoric out the window … It’s almost like Democrats don’t realize how they screw themselves for the future because the midterms are right around the corner … there is nothing… pic.twitter.com/PBlF6hv1bD — Jason Cohen (@JasonJournoDC) January 7, 2025 He has also attracted attention for his reaction to Barack Obama’s chummy encounter with Trump at Jimmy Carter’s funeral. According to the Daily Caller: “I just think politics is all WWE [World Wrestling Entertainment], and meanwhile, we out here cutting off family and friends and business relationships because of who somebody chose to vote for,” Charlamagne said. “Like, stop running to kick that football, man. Cut it out. Politics is all WWE. It’s really just that simple for me … After you went so hard calling somebody a threat to democracy and calling somebody a fascist and now you just chummy chummy with the man? You told us he was a threat to democracy. To me, that’s just terrible political optics.” “They was calling him a fascist, just like his VP called him Hitler. Would you giggle with Hitler? Meanwhile, Republicans demonize Democrats every chance they get … But you got the last real leader of the Democratic Party, Barack Obama, laughing and giggling with Trump, looking like, yeah, he’s kissing the ring,” he added. “That’s what it looked like. It did.” Co-hosts DJ Envy and Jess Hilarious pushed back against Charlamagne’s characterization of the interaction as Obama “kissing the ring.” “All I’m saying is it just looks like terrible political optics after you’ve used such crazy-ass rhetoric against him,” Charlamagne said. “And by the way, I’m a person that’s called him a fascist too, but not because of what Democrats said, but because of what I heard coming out of his mouth. But if you going to use that type of rhetoric and then sit there and [laugh] with him after the fact, that’s terrible political optics.” Here’s a clip from that segment: Charlamagne on Obama laughing with Trump at Carter funeral: “After you went so hard calling somebody a threat to democracy and calling somebody a fascist and now you just chummy chummy with the man? You told us he was a threat to democracy. To me, that’s just terrible political… pic.twitter.com/KeHsQrz9uC — Jason Cohen (@JasonJournoDC) January 10, 2025

The incident occurred two days before Lacy posted a farewell message to LSU on social media. He did not play in LSU’s 44-31 Texas Bowl win over Baylor on Dec. 31. Lacy was illegally passing other vehicles “at a high rate of speed by crossing the centerline” and entered the oncoming lane in a no-passing zone, according to police documents obtained by WAFB. A truck swerved to avoid colliding with Lacy’s vehicle, and the vehicle behind it collided head-on with another vehicle going in the opposite direction. “Following the crash, Lacy drove around the crash scene and fled south on LA Hwy 20 without stopping to render aid, call emergency services, or report his involvement in the crash,” according to the police documents obtained by WAFB.
