Conservative Investors Urge Retail Giants Not To Sell Widely Used Abortion Drug

A group of Christian and conservative investors are calling on several major retailers, including Walmart and Costco, to rebuff calls from the New York City Comptroller to start selling the widely used abortion drug mifepristone. Organized by the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), a group of business leaders and customers recently sent letters to Costco, Walmart, Kroger, Albertsons, and McKesson, calling them to not offer mifepristone, a drug that is estimated to be used in over half of all abortions. Signers included Inspire Insight CEO Robert Netzly, Guidestone Financial Resources Managing Director Will Lofland, and Bowyer Research CEO Jerry Bowyer, and financial advisor David Bahnsen, among others. “We are investors, investment advisors, fiduciaries, proxy voting and corporate engagement consultants to investors who hold over $100 billion in assets under management and $56 million in Costco stock,” the letter to Costco said. “We write to urge Costco, for its own sake and the sake of its shareholders and customers, to continue its current practice of not dispensing the abortion drug mifepristone.” The letters come after NYC Comptroller Brad Lander urged the retailers to move to offer mifepristone for sale or risk losing consumer confidence. Lander noted that NYC pension funds have about $1.3 billion in ownership in the retailers. The coalition disagreed with Lander’s assessment that the companies needed to start providing mifepristone. “Not true. Maximizing shareholder value requires Costco to avoid politicizing its services and to continue to do what it has always done best, provide excellent grocery and retail goods to families,” the letter from the coalition said in response. In a statement, ADF Senior Vice President of Corporate Engagement Jeremy Tedesco said that the group was happy to help facilitate the letter. “As the letter emphasizes, the legal landscape on dangerous chemical abortion drugs is anything but settled. The FDA’s own label admits that roughly one in 25 women who take this drug will end up in the ER,” he said. “Retail pharmacies are there to serve the health and wellness of their customers, but abortion drugs like mifepristone undermine that mission by putting women’s health at risk.” WATCH THE TRAILER FOR ‘AM I RACIST?’ — A MATT WALSH COMEDY ON DEI Mifepristone has increasingly become the most common way for a woman to end the life of her unborn child, especially in states where abortion is supposed to be illegal. A Daily Wire investigation earlier this year found that a shady network of Left-wing activist groups are flooding red states with abortion pills. People are able to circumvent state laws with access to the internet, a willingness to make payments online, and a shipping address.

BIGFOOT ATTACKS VOLUNTEER in Erie National Wildlife Preserve, Crawford County, PA

The witness was traveling throughout the United States when they stopped in the Erie National Wildlife Preserve to do volunteer work. That is where the unexpected encounter occurred. The following account was forwarded to me:“I travel around the country. It's just me and my dog. We were in Guys Mills, Pennsylvania (Crawford County) and we were at this wildlife preserve (Erie National Wildlife Preserve), I was doing volunteer work there. So I was there for about two weeks and nothing out of the ordinary happened. I and my dog were going for a walk and I saw these, they were tracks and they were going in... it had rained really hard earlier that day and they were going down a stone road I was walking down so there wasn't anything I could cast but I took pictures of them but they were 18-inch footprints and they had a 72-inch stride length.I got excited, I was like, Wow, that's pretty cool. I didn't think anything more about it. I mean this was miles away. I mean we hiked miles so it was way from my camper and I'm camped in the middle of absolutely nowhere. I mean there's the building where they kept all the equipment and then there was another like little building but other than that, I'm in the middle of a national wildlife preservation so there's nothing around. And they had a little spot for me to camp, for volunteers to camp and we were the only ones allowed there. So it was just me and my dog. And so I scouted the area really well because when I wasn't volunteering, I mean there was no self-service, you couldn't get, you know, you couldn't get nothing for my mobile hotspot. I couldn't get a TV channel so it was just me and nature and I actually liked it that way.It was one night, this was in May so it was warm enough for me to have my windows open and it was probably 10 o'clock at night and I was sitting here reading and when I was reading I started hearing people talking but I couldn't understand exactly what they were saying. And that caught my interest because I'm in the middle of nowhere and hearing people, you know, in the middle of nowhere is more frightening than anything. So I stopped what I was doing and I listened and I could hear them talk and it sounded like a TV being on in another room with the door closed where all you could kind of hear was the bass sounds. You know what I'm talking about? So I went outside and I looked around and I didn't see anything. I came back in and I could hear the talking again and I thought, Wow, now this is strange and then the footprints came to my head and I thought, Ah, I doubt it but okay. I walked back outside again and I heard the voices kind of moving away and I heard this bass sound and, still to this day, I have no idea what this bass sound was but it almost sounded like speakers in the back of a car. And I don't know what that was. I know that I was in Amish country in the middle of nowhere so I really doubt somebody had a stereo in the back of their car going down one of these little dirt roads but maybe. So, it was the next night. My dog started going nuts and he tried getting up underneath where I sleep so I laid there I was on one arm and I was still lying down and I bent over to find out what the dog wanted and the next thing I know, I'm laying on the ground. And you know how when you first wake up, you're not really sure what's going on? So I started getting up and when I got up, I got pushed into the wall. And got back down and when I looked up, I could see that everything I had hanging was swaying and it hit me that the RV was rocking. And I was terrified. I was absolutely terrified. The next day, I went outside and I found that all over my RV these 11-and-a-half-inch hand-prints. I have pictures of it. (Schrader asks him to send the pictures over and the caller agrees) So I was terrified and you should have seen the way the RV was shaking. I have a big 20-foot RV and if you could have seen the way it was shaking. I mean it was frightening. So I'm actually outside and this is a bird wildlife place (The segment ends and picks back up after a break. The caller picks up his story where he left off.)So I'm outside all day, I have nothing to do. I could hear these birds. The people who worked there got so sick of me asking, Hey, what bird makes this sound that they gave me a book and told me to just try to mimic this bird sound. Get him close and then I can identify him. So I'm outside and there's this one bird that went (makes bird sound) So I'm outside and I'm trying to whistle so I can get this bird close so I can look in this book to see what kind of bird it was. So later that night, I'm laying in bed and I have my windows open and right in the window in the middle of the night, while it was raining, and I had this on video – something goes in the window (makes loud whistling noise) and I was terrified. I jump up, I grab my camera and I start recording and I keep hearing the... I mean, you can hear that there's more than one and they are moving around and they were whistling. I can't tell you how scared I was. And there's no way I could even drive off if I wanted to because I'm hooked up to the water and I'm hooked up to the electric line and my stairs are down. I couldn't drive off. I can't call anyone, I have no phone reception, I have no internet, I have nothing. And I'm sitting here like, Holy crap, what's going on? Then I start getting rocks thrown at the RV and I have all that on video too. And my RV is just getting pegged with rocks. So I'm sitting there and I wanted to catch it on video so I'm standing at the door of my RV and I'm trying to talk myself into going outside and it was probably the hardest thing I've ever had to do. So I talked myself into going outside and I did catch a thermal of something. I don't know what it is. I can't say exactly what it was because I couldn't see it with my eyes, I could only see the heat signature but it was huge! I had that recorded too and you could tell I was terrified. I was shaking, the camera was shaking, I was breathing heavily, and the next thing I knew, I started hearing something coming from behind me and I ran back inside.I was up all night almost every night. I couldn't sleep. I volunteered for about 8 hours during the day. I was coming back. I was so scared at night, I couldn't sleep. I mean I've gotten better with it but this was the first time anything like this has ever happened to me. So the culmination of it all was, I was inside and this is when I left. I wasn't even supposed to leave yet but I just couldn't do it anymore. And I have this on video and I think I've only shown it to two other people because I was so scared, I was praying, I was dry heaving but I woke up to something trying to open my camper door. So the first thing I do is, I grab my camera and I stand here and I can hear the door just rattling like someone's trying to open it. Now I don't know why it didn't open because the way I saw it push this camper, there's no way that thing couldn't just rip my door off. I don't know if it was just trying to scare me. The next day, and I have it on video where I just walk over and it's just violently shaking my door. After that, I was done, I didn't want to play with it anymore. I took my ball and went home. The area where I was in, I was kind of on this hill, I think they were camping down...or living, whatever they do, down in this little valley because I was down there with my dog a bunch of times and I didn't see anything. And then I went down this one day and something pushed a tree over. I mean, I got that on video too. Then I started finding all these trees shoved into the ground and I got that on video, where they were taking these trees and breaking them off. The fibers are twisted. Something grabbed that tree which was only about 6 inches around and twisted it in half.” DNOTE: I later learned that the incident occurred in August 2014. WATCH: Pop Goes the Walzel

On the latest episode of “The Tony Kinnett Cast,” we watch with bated breath as the Trump-Vance campaign appears to reset itself against Harris-Walz, due to the bevy of controversy gushing from Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. From stolen valor and “stolen coaching” to the burnt remains of Minneapolis, this might be the jolt needed to shake such sweet media ignorance. Historian and commentator Victor Davis Hanson joins the show to highlight the critical controversies surrounding Walz that the media are currently being forced to reckon with. He outlines the key factors in turning any election around in less than 100 days, and cites the key moments in the late 20th century that “everything changed in an instant.” Harris’s Big Gift to Trump—if He Uses ItHarris’s selection of Walz at least reveals the left’s full-bore agenda, something that previously her handlers seemed at pains to hide: an overt doubling down on the Biden neo-socialist record that will require a far more vigorous…— Victor Davis Hanson (@VDHanson) August 7, 2024 Does Vice President Kamala Harris have the ability or the discipline to stay away from cameras until stepping onto the debate stage? Will Walz make that avoidance better or worse? Rebecca Downs from Townhall.com stops by to deliver the latest news on Rep. Cori Bush, D-Mo., and her loss Tuesday in her party primary. That didn’t stop her from ranting and raving in a fairly spectacular way, though, nor did it stifle the screeches from other “Squad” members, either. Jerry Lopez, @IndySpanglish on X, lays out the worst of this week’s social media nightmares in everyone’s favorite recurring segment, “Awful Tweets!” If you find a social media post that appears especially heinous, submit it for dragging through the mud here. Walz’s 2020 Covid Snitch Hotline Sparks Debate Amid VP Bid

If you're tired of censorship and dystopian threats against civil liberties, subscribe to Reclaim The Net. In 2020, as the reaction to the Covid pandemic tightened its global grip, the administration of Minnesota’s Democratic Governor, Tim Walz, controversially initiated a hotline encouraging citizens to report non-compliant neighbors, opening a Pandora’s box of surveillance reminiscent of dystopian literature. This move has once again sparked discussion about Walz, following his newly-minted status as the running mate for Vice President Kamala Harris in the imminent 2024 presidential election. Serving a dual purpose, the hotline — referred to by critics as the Covid snitch line — enabled thousands of Minnesotans to both voice their concerns about perceived health risks and expose those allegedly flouting the restrictive coronavirus-sensitive rules revolving around gatherings and social activities. https://video.reclaimthenet.org/articles/walz-9.mp4 Referred to by some as “the Office of Public Safety Stay At Home Hotline,” the service became a platform for callers to report everything from religious congregation activities to outdoor sports events. The line even reportedly recorded concerns about a local church’s activities potentially violating the mandated rules. Complaints received via the hotline were varied in nature. Anything from unmasked shopping for nonessential items to unsanctioned social gatherings was fair game, echoing mistrust amongst friends and neighbors in the wake of the controversial crackdown. Russia’s Biometric Boom Faces Rising Data Security Fears

If you're tired of censorship and dystopian threats against civil liberties, subscribe to Reclaim The Net. The Russian government is intensifying its drive to expand the use of biometric technologies across the nation. This push comes amid growing fears over personal data security, highlighted by a surge in data breaches in recent years. In 2023 alone, RBC, a Russian research agency, reported that data breaches at Russian financial institutions escalated 3.2 times compared to 2022, with about 170 million personal records compromised. Despite these security challenges, the Russian state has placed a significant focus on biometrics. In 2018, authorities established the Unified Biometric System (UBS), a pivotal element in Russia’s digital infrastructure which was later designated as a state information system. Maksut Shadayev, Russia’s minister of digital development, noted that biometric data submissions have been noteworthy, with figures continuously climbing. As of now, approximately 18 million Russians have comprehensive biometric profiles, with 70 million having submitted some form of biometric data to various state or private institutions, according to Riddle Russia. However, many Russians are hesitant to embrace this technology. Concerns stem from not only frequent data leaks but also from a general lack of understanding of biometric technologies, which have been evolving in Russia for over a decade. Furthermore, a notable event in September 2023 saw a large number of citizens submitting petitions to halt further biometric data collection following widespread rumors about invasive data capture methods via ATMs and smartphones. Related: Australia’s Digital ID Push Is Undermined by Data Leak Disaster The historical trajectory of biometric data collection in Russia reflects a broad and deep integration of such technologies in everyday transactions and interactions. Internationally, the government is also extending the reach of these technologies to Russians living abroad, enabling them to access financial services through biometric registration. Amid these developments, privacy experts and concerned citizens argue for greater scrutiny and a reconsideration of the data collection process. How the Biden Campaign Redefined Misinformation to Control the Online Narrative

If you're tired of censorship and dystopian threats against civil liberties, subscribe to Reclaim The Net. Evidence keeps piling up that the use of the terms “misinformation” and “disinformation” has become the ultimate tactic to manipulate and censor people and content, invalidate legitimate arguments, and control the narratives. Matt Orfalea writes about the case of Joe Biden, and the effort his team put into trying to convince voters that any (as it turned out, completely legitimate) talk about the president’s mental decline was “disinformation.” Related: Biden’s New Frontier: Targeting “Misinformation” Around The World  A Zoom call between three members of that team has now surfaced, dating to the 2020 campaign, when questions were already being asked about the state of health of then-candidate Biden. And according to them – the manipulative methods that they discuss, designed to dispel those concerns – supposedly resulted in Biden receiving 200,000 more votes than he would have. Biden-Harris digital director Rob Flaherty, Biden’s Rapid Response Director Becca Rinkevich (after the election, the White House Deputy Director of Digital Strategy), and DNC Counter-Disinformation Program creator and lead analyst Tim Durigan were on the call when they spoke about how to counter “misinformation” regarding Biden’s health and other issues. Flaherty, who is now Deputy Campaign Manager for Kamala Harris, is considered a key figure in the censorship efforts of the Biden administration during the past four years and is known for trying to influence social media like Facebook to silence Covid vaccine skeptics, including journalist Tucker Carlson. At one point, Orfalea writes, he even refused to define “misinformation” while under oath. However, Flaherty was more than comfortable talking about it during the video call, and pinpointing what “misinformation narratives” would be – for example, people discussing Biden’s corruption record, or the state of his mental fitness, among other similarly damaging topics to the then-candidate. It proceeds from this that the definition of “misinformation” would be – “anything that the Biden team found inconvenient,” Orfalea notes. Rinkevich agreed that discussing Biden’s mental decline was to be treated as “disinformation.” And, ironically, even though legacy media – searching for any explanation for the outcome of the 2016 ballot, other than the will of the voters – mercilessly criticized Facebook and Cambridge Analytica, the Biden campaign team embraced Cambridge Analytica’s “psychographic targeting.” “We targeted folks based on online behavioral cues, building out personas, based on the type of content they were consuming, what they were searching, the kinds of websites they were visiting so that we could target folks in real-time as they were exposed to that disinformation,” said Rinkevich. Then there’s “true misinformation” (what would be the opposite of that, one wonders). Tim Durigan didn’t, instead concurring that “true misinformation” was “a huge problem.” Writes Orfalea: “(Durigan) wants social media to suppress ‘true misinformation’ to promote ‘authoritative’ news sources like NYT. Big Tech’s done that since ’18, but apparently not enough for Durigan.” Get the full post here.
