NBC News Prepares Their Assault on Trump’s Administration

It looks like NBC News still has their Get Trump Unit. They assigned Yamiche Alcindor to cover the White House during Trump’s second term. She gets under his skin, and for good reason. She is subtly obnoxious and racist. The bitter Trump-hater worked for PBS during President Trump’s first term, where she regularly attacked him […] The post NBC News Prepares Their Assault on Trump’s Administration appeared first on www.independentsentinel.com.

Trump Reportedly Urges Vivek Ramaswamy To Fill Open Ohio Senate Seat

President-elect Donald Trump wants entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy to fill the Senate seat left open by Vice President-elect JD Vance, according to a report published Wednesday by The Washington Post. The Post cited “two people with knowledge of the matter” who said that Trump encouraged Ramaswamy to take the job in the Senate if Ohio Republican Gov. Mike DeWine offers it to him. Ramaswamy is also reportedly discussing the position with GOP leaders. Vance’s resignation from the Senate was made official last Friday, and now, DeWine has the responsibility to appoint a replacement until a special election is held in 2026. After Trump’s 2024 election victory, Ramaswamy was tapped by the president-elect to run the Department of Government Efficiency alongside billionaire Elon Musk. Following his appointment to DOGE, Ramaswamy said he was “withdrawing” himself “from consideration for the pending Senate appointment in Ohio.” Since DOGE is not an official government agency, it’s unclear if Ramaswamy would continue to help lead DOGE if he is tapped to replace Vance in the Senate. DeWine met with Trump at Mar-a-Lago last week and told reporters that he will make a final decision on the Senate seat in the coming days, “I’ll have an announcement probably next week.” “I want someone who understands Ohio, who has a deep knowledge of our state. We need a strong advocate there,” the governor added. CELEBRATE #47 WITH 47% OFF DAILYWIRE+ MEMBERSHIPS + A FREE $20 GIFT Multiple contenders for the open Senate seat have been floated, including Ohio Republican Secretary of State Frank LaRose, Ohio Lieutenant Gov. Jon Husted, and former Ohio Republican Party Chair Jane Timken, among others. Ramaswamy, a native of Cincinnati, has also reportedly considered running for Ohio governor in 2026. Musk and Ramaswamy have said that they hope to end DOGE by July 4, 2026, after accomplishing all of its goals to cut government waste. Both Musk and Ramaswamy have been criticized in recent weeks by some of Trump’s supporters for supporting the H-1B foreign worker visa program. A long debate over the visas was started by an X post from Ramaswamy, who argued that American culture “has venerated mediocrity over excellence for way too long.” Trump also commented on the debate, siding with Musk and Ramaswamy. “I’ve always liked the visas, I have always been in favor of the visas. That’s why we have them,” he told the New York Post. “I have many H-1B visas on my properties. I’ve been a believer in H-1B. I have used it many times. It’s a great program.”

In a message on the Village People’s Facebook page, it said that the group would be participating in several inaugural activities for the president-elect. “We know this won’t make some of you happy to hear, however we believe that music is to be performed without regard to politics,” the message read.  “Our song Y.M.C.A. is a global anthem that hopefully helps bring the country together after a tumultuous and divided campaign where our preferred candidate lost.” “Therefore, we believe it’s now time to bring the country together with music which is why VILLAGE PEOPLE will be performing at various events as part of the 2025 Inauguration of Donald J. Trump,” the statement added. Related: Village People Make Huge Announcement About Trump’s Inauguration

Sen. Susan Collins Outs The New Yorker Over Hegseth Hit Piece: ‘I Was Never Contacted By Her’

Sen. Susan Collins Outs The New Yorker Over Hegseth Hit Piece: ‘I Was Never Contacted By Her’

Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) called out The New Yorker directly in a post she shared via X, stating that the outlet had misrepresented her in a piece that was clearly aimed at sullying President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team and Defense Secretary nominee Pete Hegseth. Author Jane Mayer wrote in a sub-headline, “Supporters of Donald Trump’s nominee have intimidated potential witnesses and suppressed the FBI background check of the former Fox News host in the run-up to his Senate hearing.” The opening paragraph painted an equally grim picture, stating, “The Trump transition team has waged an intense, and in many ways unprecedented, behind-the-scenes campaign ahead of the hearing to intimidate and silence potential witnesses, aimed at keeping Republican senators in line and in the dark.” The Trump transition team has waged an intense and unprecedented behind-the-scenes campaign ahead of Pete Hegseth’s confirmation hearing to silence potential witnesses, aimed at keeping Republican senators in line and in the dark, @JaneMayerNYer reports. https://t.co/7w5nOqkVzo — The New Yorker (@NewYorker) January 14, 2025 What Sen. Collins objected to was the suggestion that she had “turned down a meeting with Mr. Hegseth’s accuser,” and she responded with an unequivocal, “I was never contacted by her or her attorney.” CELEBRATE #47 WITH 47% OFF DAILYWIRE+ MEMBERSHIPS + A FREE $20 GIFT Contrary to the assertion in the New Yorker article, I never turned down a meeting with Mr. Hegseth’s accuser. I was never contacted by her or her attorney. https://t.co/9dgMoj1Ylj — Sen. Susan Collins (@SenatorCollins) January 14, 2025 Collins followed her initial objection with receipts, clarifying what exactly had taken place: “I was approached by a third party about a meeting and I said that I would think about it. I never heard back from anyone after that. As a general matter, allegations like this are best brought to the committee responsible for the nomination.” Here is the quote we gave the New Yorker, including the information they left out: pic.twitter.com/dscoE1WjHs — Sen. Susan Collins (@SenatorCollins) January 14, 2025 “Here is the quote we gave The New Yorker, including the information they left out,” she added. “The senator received an inquiry from a third party about a potential meeting. There was no follow up from them after the initial discussion. Senator Collins believes when a person has allegations about a nominee that they feel are relevant, those allegations should be brought to the committee that will be considering the nomination.” Hegseth’s hearing took place on Tuesday — and while she has not said yet whether she plans to vote for his confirmation, Collins has thus far said that she wanted to wait until she heard what each of Trump’s nominees had to say before making her final decision.
