Peacemaker Season 3 Is Not A Priority, Says James Gunn

News Peacemaker Peacemaker Season 3 Is Not A Priority, Says James Gunn You may see more of John Cena’s Peacemaker in future DC projects, but Peacemaker Season 3 is not on the horizon. By Matthew Byrd | Published on October 10, 2025 Credit: HBO Max Comment 0 Share New Share Credit: HBO Max No spoilers here, but the Peacemaker Season 2 finale was, much like the rest of the season, pretty wild. It’s also set up quite a few possibilities while refusing to neatly wrap up several ongoing storylines. While fairly satisfying on its own terms, the finale has understandably left many with the impression that we will inevitably get a third season of the show that will tie those loose threads together. However, Peacemaker showrunner James Gunn says the situation isn’t quite that simple. In fact, it genuinely sounds like he’s not thinking of Peacemaker Season 3 at all right now. “This is about the wider DCU and other stories in which this will play out right now,” Gunn said of the Peacemaker Season 2 finale in a recent interview with multiple outlets. “That doesn’t mean that there won’t be. I don’t want to never say never, but right now, no, this is about the future of the DCU.” Well, that’s ominous. It’s not clear at this time what HBO’s interest in Peacemaker Season 3 is, but Gunn suggests that it’s simply not a priority for DC at the moment and that another season of the show simply isn’t on the studio’s radar. However, Gunn assures fans that the Peacemaker character is still very important to him and will be a factor in future DC projects. “Peacemaker is an important character,” Gunn says. “I said from the beginning when we took on this job, it’s about really propping up and maintaining and repositioning. The big diamond properties that DC has, the Batmans and Wonder Womans and Supermans, and then creating diamond properties out of the smaller characters like Peacemaker.” While Gunn stops short of confirming that Peacemaker will appear in Supergirl or Man of Tomorrow, he remains adamant that he wants to treat future DC projects as enjoyable standalone experiences while gradually utilizing characters and plot points from one movie or TV show into another. As far as that goes, it sounds like Peacemaker fans with an eye out for what happens next should keep an eye on the next Creature Commandos season. “It’s in there, it’s a part of it,” Gunn says regarding some of Peacemaker’s unresolved storylines being advanced in Creature Commandos. “That’s being written now, and we’ve got the first couple episodes.” As for when the next season of Creature Commandos will air… well, there’s no word on that yet, and DC’s current production and release schedule suggests we may not see it until 2027. Welcome to the wonderful world of modern comic adaptations, we suppose. [end-mark] The post Peacemaker Season 3 Is Not A Priority, Says James Gunn appeared first on Reactor.

The Columbus Renaissance Is Here. So Is America’s.

The Columbus Renaissance Is Here. So Is America’s.

“We’re back. Columbus Day. We’re back, Italians. We love the Italians.” That was President Donald Trump on Thursday to his Cabinet as he signed a proclamation to honor Christopher Columbus on Columbus Day, to be celebrated on Monday. “Columbus, obviously, discovered the New World in 1492,” Trump said. “He was a great Italian explorer. He sailed his three ships—the Nina, the Pinta, and Santa Maria—across the Atlantic Ocean, and landed in what’s today the Caribbean. And this is a particularly important holiday for Italian Americans who celebrate the legacy of Christopher Columbus, and the innovation and explorer zeal that he represented.” I’d have an addition to Trump’s statement: We’re back, America. In 2017, I wrote a piece for The Daily Signal asking the question whether we might see the end of Columbus Day. As I noted at the time, there had been a concerted effort from the far Left over decades to destroy his reputation and transform Columbus Day into “Indigenous Peoples Day.” That wasn’t being done for the purpose of simply honoring Native Americans, nor was it just about condemning Columbus the man. Far from it. Instead, the effort to deconstruct Columbus has been part of a concerted effort to delegitimize the entire history of the United States. America is a “settler-colonialist” state founded on slavery and white supremacy and capitalism and everything horrible, they contended. Once-fringe theories sequestered to the dark corners of academia became mainstream, institutionalized. The Left sought to rewrite American history with the intent of leading the country to reject its political and cultural heritage. Bereft of that heritage, the country would turn to the Left for answers, the thinking went. I wrote an entire book about it. The attacks on Columbus escalated. By 2020, there was a full-blown war being waged on American history as statues around the country, whether those of Columbus or the Founding Fathers, or Abraham Lincoln, or pretty much any other historical figure, were being literally town down as elite media and academia effectively cheered them on. But then something changed. Americans began to see through the insanity. They started to realize that the attacks on our history weren’t about constructive criticism of America’s flaws. They were instead malicious attacks, often outright lies, about what the country was built on. Now the statues are going up, not coming down. Columbus Day is back on. The Left can’t just cry “racism” over and over and expect that they will get their way. We don’t have to listen to these fanatics anymore. They are not the majority in this country, and they never were. What looked like a one-way ticket to America’s cultural oblivion just a few years ago is now a real fight, a fight that we are winning. But that fight isn’t over, despite those victories. The New York Post reported Tuesday that outgoing New York City Mayor Eric Adams “wants to slap historic designation status on the Italian explorer’s monuments at Columbus Circle and Astoria’s Columbus Square—to keep [leftist Democrat mayoral candidate Zohran] Mamdani from toppling the statues if he takes City Hall.” Adams was essentially thrown out of the Democrat Party after opposing President Joe Biden’s open borders policies and for cooperating with the Trump administration. Good for him for trying to protect Columbus and New York City’s history. There was a time when such notions were bipartisan. But not today. Mamdani, the man who might replace Adams if he wins the mayor’s race, represents the opposite side of our larger battle over America. Mamdani is the socialist son of a far-left Columbia professor who spent his career promoting “decolonialism.” He appeared to be flipping the bird toward a Columbus statue in a social media post in 2020 at the height of the George Floyd riots. He said in the post, “take it down.” Mamdani hasn’t really weighed in on Columbus or statues during the campaign. That wouldn’t go so well given the national “vibe shift.” Yet, the same forces that led to the attacks on Columbus and our past are still there. They are every bit as committed to erasing our history and derailing the entire course of the American project, and they represent a huge faction of people on the left. Nevertheless, in the last year, our country got a new lease on life, so to speak. We almost lost Columbus Day, America, everything good about this country, and what it was meant to be. All those things may still be taken from us. But not this year, not today. We got another chance to go forward with one foot in the past and another in the future—just like Columbus. Let’s make the most of it. The post The Columbus Renaissance Is Here. So Is America’s. appeared first on The Daily Signal.

How Russia Could Escalate Tensions With NATO

How Russia Could Escalate Tensions With NATO

STOCKHOLM—NATO countries should anticipate “additional escalation” from Russia, according to national security expert Robert Greenway. Escalation would likely include “drones … Russian manned aircraft violating airspace, including energy platforms in the Baltic Sea. There could be maritime threats, and we’ve seen undersea cables cut by Chinese vessels and others in the Baltic Sea, cutting critical communication lines. So, I think all of that is likely to be expected,” Greenway, director of The Heritage Foundation’s Allison Center for National Security, told The Daily Signal in an interview outside the Royal Palace in Stockholm. Historically, Greenway says, Russian aggression outside of Ukraine has been felt most acutely in the Baltic states—Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania—former Soviet satellite states, all of which are now NATO members. It has now been more than three-and-a-half years since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, which is not a NATO member, and despite expressing a desire to end the war, Russian President Vladimir Putin continues his war against Russia’s neighbor to the west. Like the Baltic states, a large portion of Europe lies in Russia’s shadow, and without the security NATO provides would face a greater threat of naked Russian aggression. While all NATO nations, including the U.S., are acutely aware of the dangers Moscow poses to the West, “proximity defines the way they look at the threat,” Greenway said. Google Maps “If you look at defense spending and the measures taken by [NATO] member states, the closer you are to the threat in Moscow, the closer and the more increased steps that you’re taking,” he said. For decades, Sweden pledged it would not join NATO, but after Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine in late February 2022, Sweden began taking the necessary steps to join the security alliance, officially becoming a member in 2024. Now, Sweden is leading the way as a NATO member on defense initiatives, outspending 21 of its 31 fellow members, including the United Kingdom, Hungary, France, and Canada as a percentage of gross domestic product. Poland spends the most on defense of any NATO country. NATO members have agreed to spend 3.5% of their GDP on defense and an additional 1.5% on civil preparedness, protection of infrastructure, and the like by 2035. Recent Russian incursions into NATO airspace have again highlighted the need for increased defense spending. In September, Russia violated Polish and Estonian airspace, triggering NATO’s Article 4, which allows a member state to bring a security concern to other members for consideration. The threat of Russia, particularly for America, does not exist in a silo, but is exacerbated by China, as Greenway explains. “We’ve seen Chinese support for the Russians, certainly not just the purchase of their oil, but also security cooperation,” he said, adding that a further alliance between Moscow and Beijing “constitutes a much more grave threat to the United States and to our partners and allies.” “It’s critical to keep those two capitals apart,” Greenway said. The post How Russia Could Escalate Tensions With NATO appeared first on The Daily Signal.

Free Speech Advocates Warn EU’s Digital Services Act Enables Pan-European Censorship and Threatens Political Dissent

If you're tired of censorship and dystopian threats against civil liberties, subscribe to Reclaim The Net. A controversial EU regulation is drawing fierce warnings from a global group of free speech advocates who argue it paves the way for widespread censorship in Europe and beyond. The Digital Services Act (DSA), which allows European Union authorities to fine tech companies for hosting content deemed illegal or harmful, has caused concern among 113 public figures who say the law could crush political expression and dissent under an opaque system with vague rules. In a letter addressed to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, the group accused the EU of eroding basic democratic freedoms by turning private platforms into enforcers of state-approved narratives. The message, led by Alliance Defending Freedom International and sent to Reclaim The Net, warns that the DSA’s structure encourages governments and aligned institutions to police opinions in ways that would be unthinkable under traditional free speech protections. “Freedom of expression is the cornerstone of democratic societies. It is through the exchange of ideas — including controversial ones — that societies evolve, and public officials remain accountable,” the letter states. The DSA, passed under the pretext of regulating disinformation and online harm, is set to undergo formal review in November. Its enforcement mechanisms enable both state actors and private organizations to flag material they believe violates EU or national law. However, the term “illegal content” remains loosely defined, opening the door to subjective enforcement and political targeting. The signatories highlighted real cases that reflect a growing intolerance for dissenting views in Europe. One example is Finnish parliamentarian Päivi Räsänen, who is being prosecuted for expressing her religious views on marriage and sexuality through social media. According to the letter, the DSA “introduces sweeping mechanisms” that not only allow but encourage cross-border enforcement of restrictive speech laws. The group emphasized that one EU member state’s most rigid rules could effectively become binding across the entire Union, imposing a lowest-common-denominator standard for expression. They wrote that the legislation creates “a pan-European censorship infrastructure with loosely defined boundaries and the potential to suppress legitimate democratic discourse.” Included among the signatories are Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Sam Brownback, Kristen Waggoner, Seth Dillon, Michael Shellenberger, and elected officials from Europe and South America. Each expressed alarm that the DSA doesn’t merely combat criminal activity but sets up a framework to marginalize politically inconvenient speech. The coalition is also demanding full transparency around the involvement of third-party organizations that influence content moderation decisions under the DSA. These NGOs, which help determine whether online content is compliant, are not subject to democratic oversight. The letter calls on the European Commission to reveal how these groups were selected and what standards they apply. In certain cases, American companies could face enormous penalties under the regulation, including fines of up to six percent of global annual revenue, simply for allowing content that may be lawful in the United States but forbidden under EU speech codes. The committee has since heard testimony from legal experts who warned that EU regulations are already shaping the way American companies handle speech, thanks to the global influence of European law. With the DSA already in force and its full review approaching, pressure is building on the EU to defend its commitment to freedom of expression. Without serious reform, the legislation will serve as a censorship machine under bureaucratic control, weaponized against voices that deviate from approved narratives.
