It seems as though the long awaited “very, very big announcement” teased by President Trump several days ago has just been made. And it’s a BIG ONE indeed! The President took to his Truth Social account a few hours ago with the following post… teasing that his VERY NEXT post would be incredibly important: I have to admit — the follow through on this one caught me completely by surprise! I was convinced that the big announcement he originally mentioned would likely have something to do with his upcoming Mideast Trip. It should be noted that this isn’t the first time President Trump attempted to lower drug prices for Americans. He tried it in his first term, and the protectors of Big Pharma came to their rescue, as you’d expect. His first attempt at remedying this problem was defeated and rolled back by (you guessed it…) the duo of judges and the Biden Administration, according to CNN: President Donald Trump announced Sunday that he plans to resurrect a controversial policy from his first term that aims to reduce drug costs by basing payments for certain medicines on their prices in other countries. His prior rule, called “Most Favored Nation,” was finalized in late 2020 but blocked by federal courts and rescinded by then-President Joe Biden in 2021. It would have applied to Medicare payments for certain drugs administered in doctors’ offices. However, it is unclear what payments or drugs the new directive would apply to. The directive comes as the Trump administration is also looking to impose tariffs on pharmaceutical imports, which had been exempted from such levies enacted during the president’s first term. The tariffs could exacerbate shortages of certain drugs, particularly generic medicines, and eventually raise prices. Although lowering drug prices was a major talking point of his first administration, Trump has not focused on the topic as much this term. And his campaign told Politico last year that he had moved away from the “Most Favored Nation” model, which many Republicans strongly oppose. But the administration revived the idea recently as a potential way to meet deep spending cut targets for Medicaid in the House GOP’s sweeping tax and spending cuts package. However, it’s unclear whether the proposal will be included in the legislation, the details of which should be announced shortly, or whether it would be covered by the executive order. The initiative will likely face stiff opposition from the pharmaceutical industry, which successfully halted the first iteration. President Trump has brought the two bullheaded leaders of Russian and Ukraine to terms with a meeting that was resisted by both for YEARS, and considered even more unlikely than Epstein killing himself. It wasn’t going to happen. And now?  We might have a MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH — thanks to President Trump’s tireless work and skill. Remember when Zelensky got himself and the Ukrainian enterouge unceremoniously kicked out of the White House? It certainly didn’t seem possible at that point that Zelensky could even be MADE to act the part of a good faith peace partner on behalf of his own country. I believe at that point, President Trump knew he had both side where he wanted them; ready to make a deal. Just a short time ago the Ukrainian leader’s resolve to KEEP THE WAR GOING — I believe — broke, thanks to President Trump’s ability to apply the right pressure in the right way at the right time. He said he would speak to Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan later on Sunday about facilitating the negotiations, which he said could result in a ceasefire. “Our proposal, as they say, is on the table,” Putin said. “The decision is now up to the Ukrainian authorities and their curators, who are guided, it seems, by their personal political ambitions, and not by the interests of their peoples.” The Russian leader said he does not rule out that Moscow and Kyiv will agree on “some new truces, a new ceasefire” during negotiations in Turkey, saying that the talks would be the first step toward a “sustainable” peace. Trump was responding to the Russian leader’s proposal on Sunday for a meeting this coming week in Istanbul. And it will take time to see if these steps in the right direction will actually materialize into something substantial. Either one of these leaders could back out — they are a wily bunch, and there are powerful forces at work here beyond either of them working to keep the fighting raging for alternative agendas. But if President Trump does coordinate a three-way peace deal with a surprise peace summit in Turkey on Thursday… That would really be one for the history books!

Nala is very well-known on TikTok. Most people call her Nala Stomp because of her trademark happy stomp. The move has prompted compilation videos that Dad Chris calls “Stompilations.” I have flashbacks from the Backyardigans while watching Nala. I want to sing “Stomp. Stomp. Stomp. Doing that Nala Stomp” to the tune of the Yeti Stomp song. On a recent mall adventure, Nala the golden retriever found a gazillion friends. @adventuringwithnala Nala didn’t realize she had so many friends hanging out at the mall ♬ original sound – adventuringwithnala Chris is Nala’s Dad, and he decided to take the golden retriever on a dog-friendly mall adventure. Although Chris should be accustomed to her reception everywhere, he seemed shocked by the number of fans rushing up to ask, “Is that Nala Stomp?” Nala obliged her adoring fans by performing the stomp several times during the trip. Although Nala does her stomp mostly with Chris, she will also stomp for fans. The golden retriever loves the attention from fans. FIRST ON THE DAILY SIGNAL—A key House committee has drafted a far-reaching proposal that would restructure Medicaid eligibility, restrict health care funding for transgender procedures, and dismantle several Biden-era climate initiatives, according to a document obtained by The Daily Signal. The plan is a critical piece of the House reconciliation bill that will become the mega-bill to pass President Donald Trump’s MAGA agenda. Last month’s budget resolution tasked the House Energy and Commerce Committee with slashing $880 billion in spending. Since then, swirling rumors—especially about Medicaid cuts—have stirred chaos on Capitol Hill. Now, with Tuesday’s markup looming, the committee’s plan could make or break the House’s sweeping budget reconciliation package. According to the document, the Energy and Commerce Committee is looking to require states to add community engagement requirements for able-bodied adults without dependents to receive federal Medicaid assistance. These individuals would be required to work or perform community service for at least 80 hours per month. This community engagement requirement would not apply to individuals under 19 or over 64, pregnant women, among other exempt categories. One section of the forthcoming legislation blocks federal Medicaid and CHIP funding from going to gender transition procedures for minors. Another, the document outlines, would prevent Medicaid dollars from going to nonprofit organizations that focus on family planning or reproductive services, provide for abortions beyond Hyde Amendment exceptions, and received over $1 million in Medicaid payments last year.  The bill takes particular aim at Medicaid benefits directed toward illegal immigrants. One provision of the forthcoming bill aims to ensure proof of citizenship or requisite immigration status is provided before the state doles out Medicaid care benefits, rather than enrolling such applicants immediately and then waiting for proof of citizenship later. Another provision reduces the Federal Medical Assistance Percentage (FMAP) for Medicaid expansion states that provide health care coverage for illegal immigrants under state-run health programs. The committee is also taking aim at energy subsidies included in former President Joe Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act. While crucial portions of the IRA’s energy subsidies fall under the jurisdiction of the House Ways and Means Committee, Energy and Commerce is looking to repeal these grants and rescind unobligated funds in these programs, such as grants for clean heavy-duty vehicles, diesel fuel emissions reductions, and the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund. The Energy and Commerce Committee is one of three House panels still working to advance its reconciliation bill. The Supreme Court will hear oral arguments Thursday in a case that stems from President Donald Trump’s order on birthright citizenship. But the court won’t be ruling on the constitutionality of Trump’s executive order, but rather on the issue of nationwide injunctions.   “This case is not about the underlying merits,” GianCarlo Canaparo, a Heritage Foundation senior legal fellow, said on a call with reporters last week, adding that the acting U.S. solicitor general was very strategic in asking the Supreme Court to look at the nationwide injunctions issue, instead of the merits of the broader case.   On his first day in office, Trump signed an executive order limiting the interpretation of birthright citizenship.   Historically, the 14th Amendment, which reads, “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside,” has been interpreted to mean anyone born within the borders of the U.S. is a citizen. But Trump’s executive order focuses on the phrase “subject to the jurisdiction thereof,” and holds that those born to parents who are not in the U.S. legally are not subject to U.S. jurisdiction and are therefore not legal citizens.   Almost immediately after Trump signed the order, lawsuits were filed to block it. Three courts have now issued nationwide injunctions on the order, meaning the courts ruled that not only can the order not be enforced against the parties who brought the lawsuit, nor against anyone else in the nation.   For years, there has been debate among legal experts as to whether nationwide injunctions are lawful or not, and now the Supreme Court has the opportunity to provide a definitive answer.   If the Supreme Court rules that lower courts don’t have the authority to issue nationwide injunctions, then Trump’s order preventing automatic citizenship to babies born to parents who are illegal aliens in the U.S. would go into effect in areas of the country where courts have not ruled to block the order.   Amy Swearer, another senior legal fellow at The Heritage Foundation, says the legal case that looks at the constitutionality of Trump’s executive order on birthright citizenship is likely “going to be a much longer drawn-out legal battle.”   The post Justices to Weigh Birthright Citizenship-Related Injunctions, But Won’t Consider Underlying Issue appeared first on The Daily Signal.
